Day 144 One of the things I’ve realised doing this list is that I have no clue about music, I don’t really understand why I like certain albums and why I don’t like others, I just do. I’ve previously had some jazz albums and hated them yet this I found really enjoyable, will definitely be looking further into Herbie Hancocks back catalogue 8/10 Highlights Chameleon Watermelon Man

Day 146 Like a lot of people my age in the UK, I was absolutely obsessed with Oasis as a teenager. I thought Liam Gallagher was the coolest man alive, tried to copy the haircut and the walk, called Blur a bunch of southern puffs, even though I secretly quite liked them, the lot. Fast forward a bit I had a flatmate who literally played nothing but this album and What’s the Story, Morning Glory? on repeat every single morning while getting ready for work and like that bloke who lived off McDonald’s for a year, even if you really love something, being force-fed it every day for an entire fucking year will eventually make you hate it. Because of that I went right off Oasis, just stopped listening to them entirely. I hadn’t heard this album for years and had absolutely no interest in the recent reunion tour. Coming back to it now with time passed though, I went back to loving it. It sounds so raw and exciting and took me straight back to being 16, drinking cheap cider in the park and feeling indestructible. They are not great or innovative musicians by any stretch of the imagination and the lyrics on songs like Shakermaker and Supersonic are total first draft nonsense, but it is impossible not to just get caught up in the attitude. I was listening while walking the dog and after a while realised I had my hands behind my back and was swaggering along like a fat mid-40s Liam wannabe. Despite the years I spent refusing to listen to this it is still easily a 10/10 album for me. now where’s me bucket hat? Highlights Live Forever Columbia Slide Away.
