Classic

Nok en af de mest liderlige albums nogensinde udgivet. Super clean og smooth soul. Super laid back vibe fantastisk til lange sommeraftener.

super solid listen all the way through. In fact, best listened to start to finish in one listening session.

Marvin is such a master. Really. He has a way of composing an album like few others. This is most evident on What’s Going On, of course. I do think that may be the best album, as album, of all time. Every time I listen to it I discover something new. It’s a masterpiece. This isn’t as obvious. Lacking the overt social conscience, moving with the times, apparently all we care about now is getting it on instead of addressing the issues of the Viet Nam war and the economy- which like I said, ‘it’s the times. But the thing is, there’s more here. There is still a narrative line, though less clearly developed, and a sense that Gaye is using sex and relationships to explore broader issues. I can’t help comparing him to Kendrick Lamar in this respect. For instance, looking at Kendrick’s progression from Good Kid to Mr. morale. I had never listened to this whole album before, but I was familiar with a fair sampling from it. But, as an album, it really works. Idk if I am just tuned into Marvin from listening to What’s Going On on repeat since college, but I think he’s a genius. 5 Boolean: TRUE

Let’s Get It On Please Don’t Stay Keep Gettin’ It On

A classic. Among the horniest albums of all time but Marvin pulls it off so well. This album is amazing and I almost can’t take it seriously at times but it just sounds so fucking good.

The peak of music.

So good gives me chill vibes

adorei, ótimos clássicos, Marvin Gaye é um percurssor maravilhoso pra quem quer se aprofundar no estilo e conhecer os clássicos

marvin gaye is always a good idea. he has such a soulful and warm voice that is perfect to soundtrack so many kinds of moments. this album is a beautiful collection of him at his best.

Feel like I already got this one before I joined the team one? Anyway great album, 5/5

Unparalleled game. Probably his best work. The opening track has been kinda ruined by commercials. Good thing there’s the whole gorgeous rest of the album to make up for it.

Excellent and Marvin Gaye holds a special place in my heart because he was one of the few artists my family could agree to listen to on long car rides, specifically to Florida in the 80’s.

Marvin's soulful voice is so soothing. The musicians are top notch.

My pussy is soaked and I have a Y chromosome. Figure that one out. Marvin Gaye sure did.

One of the smoothest at his best

My initial reaction was a little bit of laughter, the title track is almost memetic at this point, but it all holds together in spite of that.

Sexy and smooth as shit and the title song does really make people drop their pants and screw no matter where they are. It’s got the power.

loved this. marvin's a king

It's beautiful. He's got a phenomenal voice and the music vibe-tastic. Having listened a number of times, I still can't do a "I like this one, but not that one" review. It all sort of lows together giving a solid wonder vibe that doesn't require dissection. It's a love record that shows you can't dissect love. (Philosopher over here) Great album that's completely worth listening to and deserves it's crown as the love-making soundtrack. The rare 5 from me

Absolutely fantastic album. Gaye has such an incredible voice, the tracks are so groovy with such beautiful instrumentation. Also very horny.

Lets Marvin Gaye and get it on I guess

I love it

Sexiness through the roof. "Who else could get away with a song called 'Let's Get It On' and then a song three songs later called 'Keep Gettin It On'. Unparalleled swagger."

Loved it, and was surprised to hear the first song.

Phenomenal album, this has always been and will continue to be on rotation in my playlists and on its own from start to end my entire life for sure

Listened to on my Apple AirPods Max. You know, sometimes I see an elder millenial reminiscing of their good ol' youth by making the claim that 'sex was invented with 'Closer' by Nine Inch Nails', in reference to it's hammer-smash lyricism about gettin' dirty. There is no way to work around Trent Reznor's bluntness there. Of course, beyond the statement serving mostly a nostalgic yearning to a formative-years tune that would scare any parents listening, it is wrong. Sex was invented by Marvin Gaye with the release of 'Let's Get it On'. Anybody who hears the first four notes on guitar of the title track can attest to this. It is one of the most stereotyped musical references to love making, and if you haven't really sat with that song and this whole album before, it might even seem like a bit of a joke, if your only reference point is the countless usages of it in media over the years, mostly representing a comedic overplay of love. But there is no joke about the love, the passion, the intensity on display in this album. This is sexual liberation. This album is unabashed love, operating at 100% power, with not even a hint of cringe that could arise from vibes of desperation or heavy-handedness. Marvin literally pours his heart out on this record moreso than almost any artist I have ever heard. It's like you can feel the sweat from all the heat in the studio. As he smoothly glides between these belting yearns and soft, sweet pleas, he paints a picture of passion that is enrapturing. This is what love sounds like. It's the pent up energy in need of release from the title track. It's the fear of losing that once-in-a-lifetime connection in 'Please Don't Stay'. The total acceptance of the power of love in 'If I Should Die Tonight', with one of the most emotionally truthful delivery of lines I've ever heard in music: "How many hearts have felt their world stand still? Millions never, and millions never will". Those lines in particular, aside from Gaye's absolute resounding honesty in singing them, speak so clearly to the feeling of true love. This is something we learn about, it's something that we see everyday, it's something so many shoot for everyday, dream about every night. It's the carrot-on-the-stick for creating new generations of us. Yet, when you truly feel that love, it feels so singular, unrelatable, and unique to oneself. Sure, you can say you have found true love. But love like mine? It made my heart stand still, in a way millions will never feel. Just absolute perfection. 'Keep Gettin' it On' does exactly what the title says, a reprise of the title track that works better than most reprises ever do, as it's in service of well, continuing to get it on, "Morning through the nighttime". The next two tracks deal with the feelings of separation, before a sexy praise of a partner follows in 'You Sure Know How to Ball', culminating into the bittersweet send off to that true love in the final track 'Just To Keep You Satisfied'. What a way to cap off this brilliant ode to love, for love lost is just as likely as true love found. The understanding that the relationship cannot go on, even if the feelings still burn red, it's a special kind of emotional anguish. Rationality versus passion. Brain against heart. Marvin Gaye puts on an absolute clinic here in terms of barring his soul, and it is so encapsulating of the feelings of love. Of course, special mention must be made to the instrumentation as well, which is not only exciting in terms of range of instruments and composition, but works intrinsically within the ideas of love. These, simply, are the sounds of love. The squeaky guitar that opens up the album is the sound of letting your guard down, as the scene becomes just you and your partner, slowly to become into one. The sultry sax that breaks through halfway into 'If I Should Die Tonight', that is the sound of satisfaction, that even if your very life were to go, you would go fulfilled. The swirling strings in 'Just to Keep You Satisfied' with the quiet choral adornments and light percussive elements, that is the sound of send-off; it's so pleasant, so pretty, but it's is disappearing--it is quite literally the end. The rhythm is on point throughout, keeping it bouncy for the highly passionate moments and light for the reflection, and the sax that is spread all throughout is perhaps the very instrument of sex. This is a masterful album, and a resounding follow-up to the equally excellent 'What's Goin On'. That previous release from Marvin Gaye captured so many people's thoughts on the world itself, which is earnestly delivered in the form of the question that titles, "What is going on?" It's disappointed, it's unsure, and it works so perfectly to deliver that feeling that so many feel about the world they live in, an album that is still unfortunately so relevant. How do you follow up such an earnest political statement, when so many would argue that there is perhaps nothing more morally potent or important? By not letting yourself be held down by the concept itself. 'What's Goin On' is a politically charged release, but moreso than that it is an album of uncertainty. 'Let's Get it On', by that very hand, is a sexually charged release, but moreso an album of absolute certainty. There is nothing more assuring than the passion felt in the connection of true love, whether it be the throes of love gone away or the pinnacle of excitement within love making. Truly, a masterpiece.

It doesn’t get smoother or hornier than this.

good one!

A perfect album in my coming of age years! One of the greatest that still awakens those feelings today.

Wow great album! Need to listen to this again.

Horniest album ever? In some ways more fun to listen to than What’s Going On, though that is the more cohesive and impressive artistic statement from Gaye.

Fijne relaxte muziek.

Most of the songs form albums on this list are about love. And to me this is the essential album about making love. Therefore this has to be one of the top albums on this list. 5/5

Loved it’s a national treasure. Not as good as What’s Goin On though.

This album fucks, and talks about it a lot.

first song was a whiplash what the hell lol keep gettin it on is probably the weakest track but just because its a continuation of lets get it on which is fine i just wish it was something new loud ass tom on come get to this crazy hearing samples on other albums 9/10

This album has a reputation. A SEXY reputation, at that. That reputation totally holds up. Sexy, smooth music to get it on to. The audacity of this man to put a sequel to Let's Get It On on the same album. One could argue that Keep Gettin' It On is a reprise. Smooth Ole Marvin Gaye pulled it off. 5 stars based on reputation alone. Just Far too Sexy. In Captain America: Winter Solider, Falcon suggests to Captain America to listen to Gayes' Trouble Man. I suggest you do the same.

Always good

I feel like most people understand the message of the song Let's Get It On but totally ignore the follow-up message of Keep Gettin' It On. Which is a shame.

That voice

Funky sexy marvin

Oh, cmon, this is just good. Literally just need it to be a little bit longer than 30 minutes, but otherwise I have nothing to complain about. Beautiful thing.

Didn’t know about Marvin’s crazy lore until today

Simplesmente incrível

For some reason I thought Marvin Gaye died like right after 'What's Going On,' so I was surprised to see that this album was the follow up. It's cool to get them pretty much back to back here. I liked this one more for whatever reason, maybe the music just seems better suited for the lyrical content. "Let's Get It On" is iconic of course. When "Keep Gettin' It On" hit I was reminded of that part in "American Tterroristt" where RXK Nephew is like, "Let's get back to Jehovah's Witnesses." Great song. So many great slow jams on this album.

His voice is just pure sex I am horny after listening to this

inumerous iconic samples, the first track is very iconic too, no skips extreme consistency, and the right lenght 5 stars

Marvin Gaye – Let's Get It On (1973) It really helps to try and creat the environment suitable for some sort LPs that I get to listen, not to say that I'm in sex right now but I'm pretty sure the vibe hit when you listen Let's get it on at 1:20 am. This shit sounds amazing NGL maybe it's the vibe I don't know, but I liked mostly Distant Lover, Keep Getting it on, Let's Get it on obviously, Come get to this, and you sure love to ball. these days I was heavy on Gaye especially Got to give up part I so it felt like it was more to what was there to love about Gaye so a 5

Good stuff

So the first and title track is basically a cliche now but if you pretend you haven’t heard it eleventy hundred times already it holds up. It’s a good song. The rest of the album keeps it going too. The vocals and the instrumentation all work great together and even though there’s lots going on it’s never messy or overwhelming. Just really well crafted from start to finish.

Amazing

LETS GOOOOOOO!!!! incredible. this man was HÖRNY

A Marvin gaye no le puedo poner menos calificación

Good album to listen to at work

Marvin gaye was the og yearner

espectacular

Easy listening all the way through and with a voice like that what isnt there to enjoy?

Immense banger!

Amazing album…. No words just amazing!

So emotional. Very strong lyrics.

Rating: 4.6/5 Short Review: Smooth, intimate, effortlessly confident. Feels warm without losing emotional depth. Favorite Track: “Let’s Get It On.” Timeless groove, pure magnetism without trying too hard.

feels like i should be listening to this on a cold wet night while im on a warm bus looking out the window (pos) OR like i should be drinking whiskey in a darkly lit room with this on a record player I actually think this album is really well constructed, each song feels so different to another BUT it fits within the bounds of the album too?? and the placement of each song is also great generally just a really relaxing album

music is love

Everyone knows the title track, but the entire album is a banger. Found myself dancing to it while just doing chores around the house.

lit love ts album ive already listened to it before its lowk the opif of my taste ♥

Maybe THE most iconic start to an album with a same song/album title. I mean it's Mavin Gaye. It's Let's Get It On. It's short, it's powerful, it's amazing. It's before it's time. Yeah :)

Marvin Gaye.....automatic five stars.

really good. easy listening but in a complimentary way not insulting. just like music that makes you feel comfortable and relaxed.

Criminal

te amo marvin gaye, a vos y al green

Marvin Gaye is forever my favorite

Never not enjoyable

un álbum tranquilo pero movido

Very good. I like Distant Lover

Listening session: march 24th, while commuting to internship Listened to before: listened many times to most songs before Thoughts: it’s quite impossible to choose which tracks are my favourite because I love this album in its entirety. There are few albums that are this sexy and soulful and have Marvin Gaye’s smooth vocals at the same time, which makes it an undeniable 5/5 Favourite tracks: Just To Keep You Satisfied, If I Should Die Tonight & Let’s Get It On

Beautiful soul masterclass. Every track was filled with heart and passion, the pure spirit of love exploding. Wonderful vocal deliveries, instrumentals, and the flow was indescribable.

92/100.

marvin gaye arrasou muito quando

Classic opener lol seriously its a banger i love it Second song is good but nothing too crazy still nice quality I enjoy the percussion and his vocals towards the end. Third song is very sensual and the sax is beautiful. Vocals are wonderful. Fourth song.... I know this is going to be one of my all time favourites. Never listened to Marvin Gaye before but always meant to and now I'm kicking myself for not doing it earlier. Fifth song, sixth song were good as well but I think I'll need more time with it before I love it. Seventh song is really good though the moaning threw me off for a quick minute Eighth song is the most sexy and sensual yet and it's fantastic.... then it turns quite sad and melancholic whilst still keeping that beauty. 8 songs, 31 mins. Fantastic stuff, will be coming back to this later. Rating off the first listen: 9/10

One the truly great voices. Marvin Gaye is really at the height of his powers here

So sensual, so delightful.

Desert Island disc.

Beautiful. Bittersweet and spiritual.

Just the best mood setter of all time

Marvin Gaye is the king of Take Your Panties Of Music. Let's be serious that hundreds of thousands of children, the the low end, have been conceived cause someone put on the title track to this album. I mean to be fair, and serious, I'm sure plenty of babies were also born to the rest of the album, but that first song it's the hook that pulls you into the groove that will make your special person take their undies off. Let's keep being fair and serious while we're at it you can also take your undies off while listening to this album even if you don't have a special person no reason to not. If we're also going to be fair, serious, and honest you don't need this album to get naked, but you can look very good while doing it to this album. 5 Stars.

Favorite Song: Come Get To This

good god this whole album just oozes sex

I’ve listened to What’s Going On a few times, so it was interesting to “move on” to this album which is a much more traditional collection of (amazing) songs with a more upbeat sort of flair. It helped me understand more what makes What’s Going On a singular sort of work and adds a lot of depth to Gaye’s overall artistic project.

Now this is what I'm talking about

Gold R&B Classic right here

al dia siguiente de escuchar este album a las seis de la mañana mis vecinos de arriba estaban follando gracias marvin aunque ya no pude dormir

Not as good as what’s going on but still a sexy masterpiece.

Dobry album, piosenki znałem ale nie wiedziałem że są z niego, "If i should die tonight" fav

Clásico!

Amazing wall of sound.

Vibraphone 👌

8.5/10

Sexual very sexual

what a voice

All killer, no filler

5 Really liked the soothing aspect of his music and how his vocal range from low to high is crazy and lastly how calming one song can be compared to the other being vibey and groovy in a way.

I really didn't grow up on Gaye like I should have, so any excuse to take a break from my modern listening to go back to him is welcomed.

So, this was Bruno Mars before Bruno Mars was a thing. I liked it.

One of the big ones in the world of history of soul. One of the albums, which really belong here on this list.

Sounds Great

I've already listened to this album, but it has been a while since I gave it a listen. I've grown up listening to punk rock and electronic music, so hearing artists like Marvin Gaye felt like a whole new world. This album makes me feel I'm sitting next to the fireplace, cuddled up with someone special, just enjoying each other's company and presence. The melodies and the vocal performances always amaze me with how complex they seem, and how it almost seems like they freestyled the entire album. Marvin Gaye will always be one of the greatest artists of all time to me, and this album definitely helped me expand my small music taste at the time. Rest in peace

Come on now, Marvin. Quite possibly the king of serenading (maybe in competition with Barry White). The way he beautifully builds tension and longing on this album is just wow

Amazing! A delicious, sensual, and deeply romantic soul album. It kicks off right away with the title track, 'Let's Get It On,' delivering one of the most iconic riffs in music history. This intro has become a true pop-culture symbol of seduction (and even a meme!), perfectly capturing the passionate vibe and intense sexual energy that permeate the entire record.

I don’t know score so I’m just gonna say whether I like it or not I’ve been watching romcons is this intimacy. Sex is a part of love. Sexual liberation sex used to be tied to marriage and procreation. Is this connecting it to love

unmatched music for having just gotten out of the shower. much has been said about this as a follow up to/pairing with whats going on....The Times versus All Time, The World versus Human Beings, Articulated Thought versus Primal Feeling ect ect, its all true and magical. feels maybe slightly more song-oriented than whats going on but thats maybe only because of the emphasis on those luxurious repeated refrains....this is still every bit as much a hypnotic suite, with an even more melty and lush quality. theres p much nothing here that makes the record feels less than stellar at its own aims....the androgyny of the register gaye often keeps his voice in even feels like it transcends the actual politics of sex to just an appreciation of Bodies and Closeness in any way that resonates. two of the most eternal albums ever, surely...a world in which theyre not loved is a world in which every base idea of what music is and should be is unrecognizable.

Love in Locguenolé

Great RNB and Seoul album. I looooove yearning man.

Awesome

Great soul

No. 103 Simply great.

A early foray into the long form slow jam sound that is intriguingly underpinned by Marvin’s neuroses.

it's wonderful. for some reason, I wasn't absolutely enamored and blown away and floored like everyone else in the world, but I think that's the fault of Rolling Stone and everyone else who says this album is the best piece of media ever created and is a message from God theyself. still wonderful and I think I can muster up a 5

Love an album that is strong and to the point. I can't wait to listen to socially conscious Gaye and ex-husband Gaye in the near future.

What in the name of soul?

a very nearly perfect album. defined both a genre and a movement. absolutely transformative music with the kind of staying power rivaled only perhaps by the beatles (though influences obviously go in different directions). marvin gaye is in the holy trinity of Motown for me (Jackson 5, Gaye, Stevie Wonder), and without this work, we don't have like half of the R&B/soul/etc. catalogue that we have today. the first time i heard "Let's Get it On", I *think* it was in the context of a shitty meme, but once I actually listened to the album, I was like what the *fuck*, this is glorious! this album absolutely fucks. in the most joyous and least bizarre way i can articulate this, i feel like so much love has been made to this album (tied perhaps by teenaged millennials in the late 2000s listening to the Panic! debut album from 2005) and i have to think that's what marvin gaye would have wanted. i don't think you can listen to this album and hate anyone at all. it's all love, man. the sax in "If I Should Die Tonight" heals something in my soul every time i listen to it. fuck.

Silky smooth and criminally short. The album does suffer a bit by having one of the greatest songs ever written as the opening track. Every other song is a 4/5 out of 5, but they’re always a bit of a letdown in comparison. Very very conflicted between a 4.5 and a 5, but I will round up out of respect.

Stevie, Marvin, and D'Angelo are my holy trinity. I'm not sure I love anyone's voice more than I love Marvin's. His music is timeless, exciting, refreshing, and always leaves me wanting more. 'I Want You' is not on this list, but it is most certainly essential listening for those unfamiliar with his discography. I really think Marvin knows his voice on a more personal note than most other artists and singers ever do. How to strain it in the right place, what that does for the whole composition, etc., "If I Should Die Tonight" being the prime example.

Absolutely perfect album, no skips

highkey goated no skip album

Yowser! It it just me, or is it hot in here..

i would 100% get it on to this

Feels like getting skull fcked through my ear. Couldn't recommend it more

Masterpiece

Ooooh starting strong with Let's Get It On, such a classic. Also enjoyed Come Get To This, pretty catchy. Is he flirting with me now?? I never realized his songs were so suggestive omg (You sure Love To Ball), I had never paid attention to the lyrics. Same for the other songs actually. Just To Keep You Satisfied: "You set my souuuuuul on fire, my one desire..". Loved the crack in his voice. Overall, I love his voice. Feels like he's pouring all his love and desire on us, through his words and his vibe.

Smoooooooooth.

What is there to say? This is the type of music you can listen to at any time, anywhere, with anyone (except You Sure Love To Ball maybe) Of course the album is sexy but the tunes are so pleasant to the ear I would put this on with any type of company just not on full throttle. At 31 minutes the album doesn't overstay its welcome, so even if the songs sound pretty similar, I wasn't annoyed at all. Best songs are If I Should Die Tonight and Let's Get It On. 9/10, makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Talk about baby makin’ music, Let’s Get It On is the ultimate in baby makin’ music. Marvin Gaye came up in Motown essentially singy poppy, mainstream love songs. At a certain point, Gaye told Berry Gordy, the owner and leader of Motown, that he wanted to do his own thing, make sexy songs, make songs with important social commentary. Gordy basically was like Michael Jordan in the 90s; Republicans buy sneakers too. Gordy didn’t want to take a chance on alienating a large part of Gaye’s audience, meaning, the white part. Finally, Gaye won out, and we got albums like Let’s Get It On and What’s Goin’ On. This album also marks Gaye’s first toe into the funk pool. Track one is the title track, and it’s undeniable. I can’t fathom how many children were conceived while this song was playing. It’s got a groove the fellows can appreciate and lyrics that women can appreciate. Track two, Please Don’t Stay (Once You Go Away), is a funk jam. It’s got everything you need, and I don’t know that I don’t like it more than Let’s Get It On. I’d like to learn to play the bongos. Or I guess I could just get some and play them. I’m not sure the bongos are the hardest instrument to learn. In fact, it’s not even an instrument. It’s percussion. All I need is rhythm, really. The bongos are low-key the sexiest element of most love jams. Track 3, If I Should Die Tonight, finds Marvin telling his woman that if he died tonight, he’d die happy because he met her. That’s smooth. Great strings are used in this song. Very good. Was not a single, seems weird. Track four seems to be a Let’s Get It On reprise, huh? It’s called Keep Gettin It On…Huh? I guess they needed another song to fill time, and they figured, why not bring it back one more again? This one seems a little more like for the world to get it on, like make love not war. Even the good Lord seems to be behind the message as Marvin sings at one point, “Oh, Jesus is trying to get the people to come on (ooh) To get it on Yes, lord, oh, get it on (get it on, got to get it on).” There you have it. The power of Christ compels you to get it on. Track five, Come Get To This, brings a sax along for the ride with more bongos. However, there's something in the music mix that sounds like someone banging one of those Native American drums you buy for kids with the rubber drum head. It doesn’t sound like a real drum. It’s pitched a little higher. It’s really out of place and taking me out of the song. Otherwise, it’s good. Again, Marvin needs this girl’s love. Marvin might need to think about getting some therapy. His world seems to revolve around one thing. Track 6, Distant Lover, catches me right off the jump. Great background vocals, old school Motown groove that’s funked up. Marvin is so smooth. He has a powerful voice, but he can also be very quiet and controlled. Now this song also has a mystery sound in the mix that I can’t figure out, but it sounds excellent. It’s kind of like a video game sound. It must be a keyboard sound. Very weird. It seems the song has been built around this sound. Great song though. The backing vocals are incredible. Here comes a trumpet solo. Damn, this song rules. Yep, just as I thought. It was the last single released from the album. The strings are now coming in. Wow! This is my favorite song on the album and maybe my favorite Marvin Gaye song. He is just belting it in the end. Incroyable, as the French say. Track 7 begins with a woman in full flagrante as she’s arrived, so to speak. Oh, I see why, the song is called You Sure Love To Ball. I mean, Marvin loved the ladies, or at least wanted us all to think so. This song is great too. Strings are stringing, sax is saxing, Marvin is balling….Oh snap! Is that a baritone sax?!? Heck yeah! For those of a younger generation, to ball means to….well, you know. This is literally baby-making music. Great song. I’m sure there was no way in hell this could have been played on the radio in 1973. Oh, double snap! It was the third single on the album!!!! How did this get played on the radio? It’s explicitly about sex, and a woman has the big O to start off the song. Amazing! Second best song on the album for me. The last song, Just To Keep You Satisfied, is a soulful ballad with Marvin doing his best to tell his ex how much he loved her in bed, but outside the bedroom, she was a nightmare. I think this song was autobiographical because he had some fidelity issues when he was married. I think Marvin was a very complicated man, like most people are. He wasn’t as bad as the worst things he did, and wasn’t as good as the best thing he did. It’s just a shame he died as he did. Sometimes that’s more remembered than how great an artist he was, which is a shame. I digress, weird. Anyway, I loved this album and I’m more a Stax man than Motown. I do think it’s an album you should hear before you die and preferably before you have kids, because this album can only help conception. I'd imagine this is aural viagra, so you could use it after you had kids as well.

Superb soulful album

when i first was pulling this up it didn't immediately click in my brain as The Sex Album until i heard the opening notes. the most immediate "oh yup, easy five" in ages. it's basically a meme at this point just how sexual this album is, but it's pretty much perfect. incredible talent by marvin gaye to execute so precisely on the vision of this album in such a timeless way. even beyond the title track which i was already well acquainted with, every track on here is a standout track on its own. simply an all-timer, no notes.

This sounds so fucking incredible that I have no point of comparison. It's just an album of pure, immaculate vibes. The production on here is second to none, the singing is incredible and by god the instrumentation here. For once I have pretty little to say about an album because, to me, this is close to perfection. Its obligatory when talking about this album to mention how much it fucks, and it fucks so hard it has become the pure ideal of fucking in music. This is one of the first albums on the list that my only wish was it to be longer.

muito bom!!! não teve uma música ruim. Já sabia da existência do álbum, especialmente da última música KKKKKKKKKKK, mas nunca peguei pra escutar, e agora me arrependo! “If I Should Die Tonight” foi minha favorita.

Nobody yearns like Marvin anymore. The horniest expression of soul I’ve ever heard.

100/10, pas un skip Masterclass

Really enjoyed this. The sound of Marvin Gaye's erection.

One of the GOATs at his best. I love this man and album. Gonna put it on in the bedroom next time.

Classic!

Great for a making out session

Love marving gaye

Yet another classic album! I love Marvin’s music and while his untimely death was unfortunate, I am glad he left this legacy behind. Motown will always be the best and most talented record company in my opinion.

I know two things: Marvin Gaye fucks, and so does this album.

It was a smooth listen- a classic for a reason. This album spreads love, peace and a shit ton of horniness.

Ran a 5k to this and it was soooo smooth

Classic. 31 minutes is quite good.

Man, this album is incredible. Is this considered his magnum opus? If not, hopefully it’s in the running. Every song is just so intimate and lovely to listen to. I had a great vibe listening to this album.

How did Marvin Gaye know I only last 4:25 in bed?

I've reviewed a few of these albums by saying "this album fucks." Now that I see this album is on the list though, I feel I need to set the record straight. THIS album FUCKS. And you'll wanna be fuckin' by the end of the first track 🙏🏻

Classic

teleio

Made for the LA night drives heading to that boy’s place.

First time listening to the whole album from start to finish. Makes me want to see my baby!

Perfection in an album to be honest. Is he one of my favourite motown artists? No, but this is one of his three albums that absolutely kills me every time I listen. Never bore of it.

It's good album

can’t say anything bad about this album. marvin gaye has such a nice voice and knows how to use it beautifully. this is my kinda music, the kind that brings me a sense of peace. in my opinion everything on this album was executed perfectly. -favourite tracks: IF I SHOULD DIE TONIGHT and DISTANT LOVER and JUST TO KEEP YOU SATISFIED

The way every song returns to the titular - perfection.

Не ощущается что альбом 1973 года. Очень нравится обложка Звуковое наполнение очень классное, много разных эффектов. Альбом без скипов, каждая песня бесспорно заслуживает внимания

This was an uncomfortable listen for me. When I was in my early 20s (over a decade ago now), I was not big into one night stands or casual encounters. I always felt like the pressure to perform was holding me back from enjoying myself or the person I was with. One night, I ended up having a one night stand with a friends ex. It was incredibly awkward, we were both wasted and the sex itself was not very comfortable. Later, I came to realize that the whole situation was just a ploy to "get back" at my friend, and it made me feel gross. Everything about that interaction fills my head with shame and disgust. If you're reading this, you may be asking how this is relevant to Marvin Gaye. Well you see, my alcohol soaked and underdeveloped prefrontal cortex decided that putting this album on would set the mood juuuuuust right. It did not. From that day onward, I have not interacted with Marvin Gaye's music in any sort of meaningful way. I avoided this artist and especially this album for years and years because of a particularly shameful event in my youth. I have done much work on myself since then, and while this album still reminds me of that shame I mentioned earlier, it's such a good listen. Listening to this album is a lot like making love to a trusted partner. Tight, smooth and just the right length. If you're a young man and don't find one night stands appealing, just know you're not alone and there is nothing wrong with you for not wanting to do that.

favorite by far!!

Loved it

So soulful! I didn't get a very deep listen today, but I was really impressed in the same way that I was for my first listen through what's going on. The quality of the singing stands out more here - it's very heartfelt and soulful in a way that I think few manage. The record isn't as progressive and complex as what's going on (at least at first listen) but again it's much more that I would expect.

God wat een heerlijk geil album, in de breedste zin van het woord: teksten, vocals, muziek, en vibes zijn allemaal om van te glijden.

9.06/10 5/5! This album surprised me, I haven't listened to Marvin Gaye before but now I understand the hype!

Marvin,, Al Green and Sinatra are responsible for at least 5 % of the US population growth between the 50s and 70s, IMO! Great album with an excellent backing band - especially the bass and drummer.

Very soulful

Awesome album! Slow and sexy! The epitome of Motown!

It's no "What's Going On" but Marvin Gaye is one of the most talented musical artists of all time.

wow. it was so so goood miss music like this!

Incredible.

I mean, really it's undeniable. My internet-poisoned instinct is to try and make fun of something this earnest, but... this man really wants to fuck. He wants *us* to fuck. He's a missionary for missionary (if not something freakier). Incredible production, never noticed the backing vocals. Loved it, am going to be seeking out a vinyl copy somewhere. Only cons: very easy to poke holes in the sexual politics. Very funny to have a 'I'm sad we're divorced' song that include 'I even put up with your bitching.' Standout track: Keep Gettin' It On

LAWD this is good

A really cohesive album honestly so addictive a 10/10

Classic!!

Absolute classic

obviously a fantastic album (i mean it’s marvin gaye). when i first opened the album i thought i would feel that it was too short, but somehow 8 songs is perfect and it has a very cohesive sound that is achieved because of the length. no notes i love this.

Beautifully perfect jam of an album. I always said the saxophone is the sexiest instrument but i have to now give that title to Mr Marvin Gaye's voice. Mind alternating. Little sexy sax sure did spice it up.

We got it on

i loved the groove this album had, it really slowed me down. also love that it feels (sounds) very romantic

A plea for peace on earth and widely considered the first eco-protest record, this is - plain and simple - a fucking glorious record.

This was a wonderfully delightful well spent 31 minutes. Would happily revisit. Listened to it twice, will listen to it again many more times to come.

Love the album and music but can really only listen to it at certain times - some songs would be inappropriate in a group setting

4.75/5 Stars Top Songs: Let's Get It On, Please Don't Stay, You Sure Love To Ball

Sublime

This album is for people who have more sex than me (any at all) Clearly a classic and influential on all sorts of stuff. The first 20 seconds of the first and title track is practically code for "these two people are imminently going to have sex" that I almost laughed hearing it but the rest of the song is such a vibe it doesn't even matter.

marvin gaye I’m so sorry. I wish I could have protected you. also this album has no right being so horny

as a cis-man I cannot get pregnant, but this album makes me wanna try

Cancel me if you have to, but I LOVE Marvin Gaye. His voice is so buttery and his beats are so sexy. This and What's Going On are just perfect records. Classic R&B so has some funk to it. 10/10. Will be purchasing for my collection.

Let's Get it On - 5/5 Please Don't Stay (Once You Go Away) - 4.5/5 If I Should Die Tonight - 4/5 Keep Gettin' It On - 4/5 Come Get To This - 4.5/5 Distant Lover - 4/5 You Sure Love To Ball - 4/5 Just To Keep You Satisfied - 4/5 It's incredible how Gaye could transition from the social commentary in What's Going On to what is effectively Sex: The Album here. Everything is so silky smooth on here. The intro to "Let's Get It On" somehow gave me a flight-or-fight response based on how many times it's been used in pop culture, and for good reason. Incredible production and the whole album makes you want to lie down in a bed of roses next to your significant other (or others if you're into that). Overall: 5/5 Favorites: Let's Get It On, Please Don't Stay, Come Get to This

Some of the best produced music ever. The instrumentals make it sound so big and the singing is unmatched. So many layers of gorgeous instruments meshing together, this shit is a fucking masterpiece

Banger

100% soul masterpiece!

One of the greatest crooners and sexual singers of all time. If Marvin Gaye does not set the mood for romance, nothing does. Outstanding, provocative and ahead of it's time. Proves intimacy can be sung about without explicitly.

I love you Marvin Gaye!!!!

Its Marvin Gaye and therefore 5 stars.

groovy, sexy, sweet, wonderful wonderful music

I don’t think I can be friends with anyone who isn’t a Marvin Gaye fan.

Fantastic

this is one of the most beautiful albums ive listened to in my entire life. like yes hehe haha the title track is meme'd upon, but distant lover, if i should die tonight, just to keep you satisfied, you sure love to ball, ETC. are the MOST beautiful songs in the entire world. THIS ALBUM LITERALLY NEVER GETS OLD!!!!!!!!!!!!! ITS PURE SEX!!!!!!!! ITS LOVE!!!!!!! ITS HEARTBREAK!!!!!!! ITS CONNECTION!!!!!!!!!!!! LETS GET IT AWNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Groovy, sexy, very fun album to listen to

-God damn Marvin Gaye can sing. -This is strong music. The title track has become a cultural meme; it's basically "Happy Birthday" for sex. -But also, it's serious. He really means it when he sings about things like sex and love and peace. Wonderfully non-toxic masculinity. -The whole band sounds incredible. The strings are just right.

- I mean let’s get it on is such a classic - I’m really vibing with please don’t stay too - lol I didn’t realize let’s get it on had a sequel

Marvin got me on

Classic. Flows so well and conveys a specific time and place: urban, hot summer, sunset, 1970s.

Oh, Mr Gaye… a reprise in the middle of the album?! You nasty.

I mean- what can I say- have you listened to it?? Pure genius! 💜

A real move from the political masterpiece that was "whats going on". This was a move into the bedroom. It is still an excellent album. Lets get it on remains a classic. Every beat and vocal turn on this album is not wasted

😍😍😍

Put this on and let the lovin commence.

Let’s Get It On and Keep Gettin It On already put me in a great mood and instantly noticed that this album was going to be something special. A 30 minute album is perfect for my taste. The production is unbelievably refined for 1973: warm, funky, groovy, and filled with that soulful tenderness Marvin Gaye was unmatched at. You can hear every subtle detail in the instrumentation, that perfect mix of funk, soul, and slow R&B. Even after all these decades it still feels fresh, intimate, and alive to me. Overall just so smooth. Fantastic. So good. An incredibly easy and enjoyable listen, truly an iconic album. Smooth as butter. My favorite tracks are all of them — Let’s Get It On, Please Don’t Stay, If I Should Die Tonight, Keep Gettin’ It On, Come Get to This, Distant Lover, You Sure Love to Ball, and Just to Keep You Satisfied.

I don't even know what sex feels like and this album worked on me. I think that's all I have to say to justify my thoughts on it (9/10, 5/5 on this scale)

Sometimes I feel bad for the title track. It's a truly great tune; without a doubt one of the best Marvin Gaye would ever make. Smooth, sensual, soulful ... I mean, goodness, those strings, those horns, those **vocals** ... it's a real masterclass in baby making music. Hell, you could probably get pregnant just listening to it. I don't think it really even has a structure; it's just one of the best pieces of mood music I done ever heard. And you can't take the first ten seconds seriously. How often have you heard this song used as a joke? Specifically that opening guitar lick and the following "I'VE BEEN REALLY TRYYYYYYYIN', BABY / TRYNA HOLD BACK THIS FEELING". I swear, it's nearly up there with "Bad To The Bone" as needle drops I don't even recognize as real songs; they may as well have been shipped straight to stock music libraries. It's like how sometimes there's a piece of media with such a strong meme that when you see it in context it feels like it's edited in. And it really is a shame that this is the kind of reaction I've grown to have to these opening seconds, 'coz although I haven't heard every song he's ever recorded, I do truly believe it's one of his best, bar none. As for the rest of the album ... well, let's admit that there's not much to say about it, really. Do you like the title track? D'y'think it's good mood music? Well, there's seven other tracks just like it. As an album experience it's obviously not as varied and as strong as his last record — y'know, a little thing called 'What's Goin' On'. I don't think I'd be able to blame someone for getting tired of this album quickly, even if it is only 31 minutes. Jus', this much love making in such a short period of time? Most people, understandably, wouldn't be able to keep up. But myself, I'm not gonna act like this is a bad thing. Even though nothing else on the album is as strong, individually, as the title track, it still succeeds in carrying through **the mood**. You've gotta acknowledge, this is an incredibly **consistent** album in that regard. And that's ultimately what's important here. So it doesn't change things up as 'What's Goin' On' did — this album still ended up making Marvin Gaye a sex symbol. That's what really mattered. And, hey, y'know, you ask me, it's probably better to have a full 31 minutes of love makin' music than only one song. (I also wanna point out, too, before I get to my conclusion, how much I love that Side 1 opens with "Let's Get It On" and closes with "Keep Gettin' It On". That's just great, honestly.) So, yeah, that's all I gotta say about 'Let's Get It On'. There's probably more I could've pulled out, given that I heard Gaye included some themes of spiritual healing in the lyrics — but let's be real, the lyrics are absolutely not the most important thing here. As I keep saying, it's all about the mood, and while I can see how it could be easy to get sick of it real quick ... dammit, Marvin Gaye just does it so well. I can't fault him. I'll tell you this: I listened to this twice in a row, and over the course of the hour I only sort of got tired of it by the end. But that's just 'coz I tried to do it again too quickly. If I'd waited to recover a little, I'm sure ... but yeah. At any rate, it felt like a better hour than the one I spent with 'Here, My Dear', goodness. In the end, I'm very happy and satisfied that I got it on with Marvin Gaye. 10/10 lay.

Marvin always knows how to make a damn good album, even under the Motown system. 4.5 bumped up to 5.

I’m at a 4.5 that I’ll pretty easily bump up to a 5. Maybe it’s because of Prince taking the sort of foundation Marvin Gaye set on this album to a natural extreme on “1999”, or just the much more sex-positive culture that’s been fostered in the 52 years since this album came out, but I found myself less inclined to hear this as just a “sexy” album. I’m more inclined to treat it as a sort of landmark in mixing the soul music of the late 1960s with a sort of carnal passion that would come to define the R&B music of the next… well, several decades to come. This is a sexually liberating & radically freeing album, especially for 1973. Marvin Gaye’s voice sells everything here, and frankly, it just kind of sounds like sex. The same applies to the instrumentals, which… hoo. The sax / percussion work here is a perfect backdrop for the lyricism for the vast majority of the album, and as a whole, the atmosphere this album creates for itself clearly set a new standard for other artists to follow, in terms of talking about passion like that. Just listen to a track like “If I Should Die Tonight”. That one’s incredible. Here’s a fascinating stat for you, which could be coincidence, but I will actively choose to believe is correlation & causation: according to a CDC study on the vital statistics of 1974 (Page 75 here: https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/vsus/nat74_1.pdf), the average number of births per month from January to June of that year was roughly 251,812. The average number of births from July to December was roughly 277,627. According to the Billboard 200 (https://www.billboard.com/artist/marvin-gaye/), this album’s peak on the charts was #2, in October of 1973. Add 9 months to that, and you get to… July of 1974. Yes, this album’s peak lines up with enough lovemaking to raise a rolling birth average by 26,000 babies per month for the back half of an entire year. If this really is a tangible & provable Marvin Gaye effect, then maybe this album deserves a 10 for that alone, I dunno. So, why a 4.5 and not a flat 5? Eh, just a little one-note by the end, really. The passion is there, his vocals are sensual, and nothing is wrong at all. I just think the album loses some of the steam it has after the excellent “Distant Lover”, as the final 2 tracks didn’t quite come across as strongly as the first 6 did, especially on “You Sure Love to Ball” (great instrumental though). Regardless, I’d be a moron to not bump it up – this is Marvin Gaye setting a brand new standard for how to approach the topics of sex, sensuality & passion in music, and doing it in a way that still feels tasteful & sophisticated enough (especially in the instrumentation / vocals) to treat it as a serious shift, as opposed to a shock factor / publicity switch off of the back of the more socially conscious tones of “What’s Going On”. I’m very excited to get “What’s Going On” down the line, but as far as this goes, it’s a 4.5 that’s easily bumped up to a 5.

Just fantastic. The title track is iconic and basically the musical motif of sex. The rest of the album is just as good, Gaye's performance is full of emotion. Even the album art is timeless, you still see dudes dressing like this to this day

This man was a legend. Full stop. He deserves all the praise that comes his way. BTW, if you can't get lucky to this album, try harder!

Open's with the instantly recognizable guitar lead from the title track. Feels smoother and more direct than What's Going On. Amazing songwriting and instrumentalists, plus Gaye's silky vocals.

Deep cuts are actually fire too.

1. Let's Get It On - I know this song! It's used in a lot of memes but I've never listened to it in this context. It's a really sweet song overall and I really appreciate his writing--straightforward but sincere. Very romantic and your average love song. It's interesting how he talks about being sanctified in the end; it has almost a spiritual feeling. 9/10 2. Please Don't Stay -

Great soul

The sexual energy fueled my workout

extra points cos Marvin Gaye’s estate sued robin thicke

I loved it, never heard it before!

Fun and sexy. Keep getting it on is a great crate digging cut

finally listened to the whole album. smooth, warm, soulful. loved it.

I listened to this while in a room on my own and had to take a cold shower to calm myself down.

A shoo-in for the quite short list of the best Motown albums (not comps) of all time. Marvel at the production, marvel at Gaye's singing. The lyrics are well - complicated. Though it is indeed about getting it on, its also (as in the reflective bitter end track) about the hurt as well. Also what a beanie hat.

I won’t listen to this as much as I probably should, but damn, when I’m in the mood for it, it’ll hit so good.

C'est un énorme oui c'est fabuleux, du miel pour les oreilles

I'm not sure there's been an album I've listened to in the last two weeks that I knew would be awesome from the first eight bars. It was positively moody. It all say together well, and gave the vibe of a great album. I can see what the author of High Fidelity was on about. 5 stars!

This album is like a soldier spending one last night with his sweetheart before going on his next tour of duty the following day. Closing themselves off to the sadness of tomorrow, they focus solely on each other and their love. Yea they get freaky, of course they’re gonna. But also they enjoy these final fleeting moments of being with one another. Towards the end of the night, the fear of tomorrow seeps into the man’s mind, but he continually reminds himself to enjoy the beauty of this moment.

This oozes sex

-Nice flowing sounds -Iconic sounds from Marvin -reminds me of '70's era lounging

The most sensual album of the 20th century, if not all time. Play this for that special someone, all the way through. You won’t be disappointed.

The master of soul. GOAT.

Short but sexy and smooth as hell. Thanks Marvin Gaye for this masterpiece. 5/5

God, it's so good

A second Marvin Gaye in the early throes of this exercise and I'm not complaining. All eight tracks are exquisite

Esse é meu disco Favorito do Marvin Gaye. Tudo encaixa perfeitamente. Um som maravilhoso de ouvir! QoA Adonis New.

God damn. What a beautiful record. I could listen to Marvin’s voice endlessly. The smooth rich strings, the great grooves from the rhythm section, some great interesting arrangement and mixing calls. Everything just so great.

This is a gorgeous, soft-spoken, restrained piece of art. All of Gaye's pieces are like this. And dang it, he's good at what he does. The melodies are great, the chord progressions are simple and effective... And every instrument is played perfectly for its song. Nothing overly virtuosic (not that that would be a bad thing), just pure tasteful groove. It's interesting to see the album progress sort of haphazardly, without the singles being clumped and with a reprise-ish track getting slapped in the middle. Unusual for its time, I think. But that wouldn't have marred its success in the slighest. It's such ridiculously easy listening, and a step away from Gaye's political side, that I have to imagine audiences would have eaten this up. Starting off the album: Heheh. It's the sexy song. Turns out it's really good even after the first 5 seconds. The horns behind the chorus really add to the chill element, and the bassline is going on more adventures than you'd expect. I'm tempted to give Keep Gettin' It On the "key track" treatment, but it's actually pretty similar to the title track (whoa!) and is reprise-ish enough that I can't bring myself to include it. You Sure Love To Ball has Gaye sort of riffing/scatting off a select few lines. And on the face of it, that sounds like a bad idea for a song. (It isn't helped by the first 10 seconds being a woman moaning softly.) But the weird syncopated scat rhythms, the strings, the consistent understatedness... it's enough to give you goosebumps. There's even a tuba, a harp, and several saxes in the back. Distant Lover's 6/8 rhythm makes it slow-dance-esque. I like the long, soft "ooh"s in the back, harmonising with each other and almost providing the main melody under Gaye's riffing. 5/5 Key tracks: Let's Get It On, Distant Lover, You Sure Love To Ball

Classic album. Everyone knows the 1st track. The rest of the album is similar. I wish I had more historical context on this album.

Love Marvin, love let’s get it on. This is a force, a movement, a soul speaking to everybody.

Haga lo que haga este disco me pone a bailar, muy bueno sí señor

Classic

Take it easy Marvin. I'm in an office environment and this is wildly inappropriate. 5/5.

if this is gaye I don’t want to be straight

Idk man, these soul artists in the 60s and 70s just feel like they understand music on a different level. This album feels surgically perfect but still human. It’s kind of incredible.

It is incredibly hard to sing about sex in a truly sensual way. This album is a gem on exactly how to do it. Learning that this album was an outlet for Gaye to cope with childhood abuse adds another dimension to the joy expressed in this album. You can hear through his vocals his vulnerabilities around love and sex. There's just something really sonically gorgeous about an artist laying it all on a track. It is raw, but far from unpolished. It is well produced, but almost doesn't need such tight production to be good. Gaye's vocals very clearly drive every track and elevate them to hits. I've consistently held the belief that any artist inspired by jazz will prove to be a wonderful musician because they're able to hold a contradiction between chaos and order. Gaye is one of the best examples of this.

Hard to argue against this one, even if it’s still not my genre of choice.

Why is it always “why are you gay?” And never “you listen to Marvin Gaye?”

8/8 banger

sorry tac this is better than what’s going on

Marvin Gaye following up his bleak introspective opus with the 15 sexiest seconds in recorded music makes this record perfect by default (it’s also perfect anyways marvin gaye has the most beautiful voice of anyone to ever live)

Ah shit, how did my pants end up on the floor? Can we talk about Gaye's band here for a moment? Between James Jamerson and Paul Humphrey holding it down on the rhythm section, my god, talk about tight. A lot of this album truly feels like Gaye just sort of riffing lyrics over an extended jam session. If you can somehow put the legendary voice on the back burner, I recommend diving into the music on this album.

When a record becomes so synonymous with something (a needle drop, a commercial, the act of fucking) it can be easy to say, “I get it,” but it’s not about getting it, people, it’s about getting it on.

Absolute classics

Listened to this at the end of an exhausting week and I was just so shattered that the whole thing sort of washed over me but in such a nice way, does that even make sense??? Idk I’m so tired haha. Anyway this is LUSH, I will 100% be back to listen again when I have more than one brain cell but aaahhh his VOICE, the INSTRUMENTALS, ugh just so so good. Ah fuck it I’m giving this a 5.

Admittedly I didn't pay attention to the title and listened to "What's Going On" in whole before realizing I chose the wrong album. I have the same opinion of both albums, however, so all is well in the world. An amazing voice, wonderful singing, and beautiful instrumentals.

Juste un classique de chez classique

sexyyy

Great music and obviously Marvin Gaye's voice was outstanding and distinct. This is a classic album and deserves to be recognized: 5 stars.

Love this album! It’s on my want list!

Old but GOLD

Amazing

very good

This is just so great. It’s sex in song form.

Great album

It’s the voice.

When did we stop using "ball" to mean sex, and is it time to bring it back? Or do you have to be Marvin Gaye to make it work? As this album proves, he can make a lot of stuff that would sound cheesy or sleazy from lesser mortals sound pretty hot.

Best so far. This will never get old.

Can’t think of a single scenario where I’d be disappointed that this album is playing, an all-moods, all-situations, standard rotation album.

I was going to give this 4 stars but titles like "You Sure Love To Ball" pushed it over the top.

Way to be hot in music. This is what I categorize as "dating music." It's soulful, stylish, romantic, and a bit dreamy. It's not what I'd prefer listening to daily, but it's unquestionably beautiful. Honestly, this album's biggest downside is that it opens with its strongest song and never quite reaches that high again.

Good loving soul .

What an unbelievable follow up to What's Going On. In his sophomore effort after breaking free of Motown's creative control, Marvin makes the seamless transition from social consciousness to sexual awakening, and everyone goes: "yep -- after speaking truth to my society, now you're ministering to my libido." One of the greatest sonic segues we'll ever see. 32 minutes of hot and heavy soul, soaked in the sweet honey of desire: a real garden of delights for the senses. Felt unlawful to listen to in the morning. You just get the urge to make incredible love to this music... after all, that's what Marvin would have wanted from us.

Why does every Marvin Gaye album has atleast one song with a woman moaning in it?

The Goat strikes again

First side of this album is five star magic, and the second side starts off well, the last two songs don't really do the same for me (especially the second) but still perfectly fine. But there is so much good will in the first three quarters of the album that I only shave a bit off the perfect 10. (9.85) ★★★★½ (but still a 5 here)

Absolutely splendid. Soul music rarely gets as sumptuously smooth, silky and stupendously sexified as this. Best songs Let’s Get It On and reprise Keep Gettin’ It On.

Absolute classic

bowchickawowwow!!! BAYBAY MAKIN MUSIC! Marvin, you really outdid yourself on this one. RIP. ✌🏻

Well now I just wanna fuck everything… Respectfully, of course. This album is a “banger” in all senses of the term. I’ve been hard for a full 32 minutes.
