This was dull in 1975, pretentious, plodding, having no exhuberence or joy in playing. Luckily in seedy wee clubs and garages something new and primal was emerging, Pink Floyd’s real legacy are the Damned, the Slits, Slaughter and the Dogs, Eater, and every band formed with two or three chords and some passion. A reminder of how awful early and mid 70s rock was.

I bought this when it came out. One of my most played albums.

Third day in row -an album I already own, great re listening after a while.

A very sad let down , particularly after catch a fire.

I reviewed this when it came out in 1978. It was pointless,46 years later I went back to it - still pointless.

Bit plodding, cock rock.

Terrible, unlistenable, stuck with it and it got worse

Some very clever ideas, executed in quite a dull way.

I might listen to this again, some nice ideas, but I found it boring.

Not as good as most people think it is.

Outstanding, intelligent, danceable. We did not need rock and roll, this is a million times better.

Saw the point of some of it but no real songs, lots of twiddling.

The birth of karaoke blues, learn the licks and then cough them out again, no originality, no real flair, no intensity, and none of the sex of the guys and gals they are copying. That’s before I mention the vocals, strained and toneless, beyond awful.

I don’t understand their popularity, this is mostly banal with too much drum. Originally a decent singles band, but once you’ve written “I hope I die before I grow old”, you should stop, but concept albums and rock operas?

I like some of his other work, but this is over produced shite.

Pub Rock with really bad vocals. The band seem to aspiring to be like Wizzard with none of the fee, humour or sensitivity.

Great bass playing.

The Sex Pistols, like most original punk bands were a singles band. The first three singles were magnificent. The rest was pretty dire, sub Stooges noise. The bootleg album (which was available before this) has a rougher mix, and sounds better. I don’t think I’ve played this right through since the day I bought in 77. Listening again, apart from the singles, it’s really not very good.

I did try, but it’s really not very good, at best poor. I listened to some Urban Voodoo Machine afterwards to make myself feel much better.

Sounds like a really bad bar band, the organ lowers it even more, adding a bit of MOR lounge, and that’s without mentioning the singer.

Because 0 is not an option

Punk was dead by 1979, there is no reason this album should be held in any respect, rehashing at least 4 year old tropes.

Sublime

When I was as a teenager I was given a copy of this, which I listened to once. I didn’t get it, I’d already heard Robert Johnson, Big Mama Thornton, Mahalia Jackson, and countless others. It was derivative shite in 1969, now sounds exactly what it is, sad dad nonce rock.

This is Roy Wood’s Wizzard, bereft of any wit, humour and art. Some good songs that should be sung by someone else.

I last listened to this album when it came out, it was dull, seemingly endless. Jarvis may be seen as a great lyricist but the tunes don’t cut it, sort of sub Brel, Walker Brothers. They really should have stopped after Common People.

As a teenager I loved this album, and the Faces, as a band, were incredible, Ronny Lane and Ian MacGlagan in particular But Rod Stewart’s racism, particularly towards south East Asians, his support for Enoch Powell has made this album unlistenable now. Are people forgetting Rock against Racism was started because of musicians like Stewart and Clapton.

Dull in 81, much duller now. This is not Dare.

Pretty poor, only one good song, definitely not Blowing in the Wind. Pretty shite.
