1001 Albums Summary

Very early new wave. Not really my sound. A little silly but seeing as I was not born yet I can only hypothesize they were slightly ahead of there time.

Decent album, no songs that stood out but none I wanted to immediately switch.

Banger after banger. Great album. Would try to sing along but can’t hit those notes.

Another new wavey entry. I liked it more than Devo but still not my sound. Prefer the cure for the genre

I own this on vinyl and have listened to it multiple times. The smoothness of Brian’s voice and the harmonic melodies make it a classic that never gets old.

This album was a roller coaster. Kurt is not a particularly skilled vocalist, but his raw voice suited perfectly with the bands music. Some of the songs were a bit to whiney, but some were fantastic Polly, Lake of Fire, and All apologies stood out.

It is weird that I got two ABBA albums in a row. I enjoyed Arrival more then the visitors, but still a very easily consumed album.

A three and a half hour compilation album. I am not sure how this qualifies for a list that very purposely left off compilations. Ella obviously has a legendary voice, but 3 and a half hours? really? put it on at a cocktail party so people feel fancy but this is not an album everyone needs to hear.

There is something unique and nice about Joni Mitchell’s voice. As a late 30s guy it’s not in my wheel house but I enjoyed the stripped down acoustic sound of this album. Although the cover of this flight tonight by Nazareth is better.

This album would be up my alley but it was a miss for me. Lyrics are repetitive on almost every song. Just led me to believe she couldn’t come up with anything else.

I don't mind the album, in the end is certainly a sing along, however it does not hold up over the long term, and I did not enjoy it quite like i did in my youth. Still better then Christina.

Recognizing that Kanye West is a piece of shit I do think its important to separate the art from the artist, or else this list is going to dwindle very quickly and we will have far less to listen to. I remember when this album came out, and how popular it was and the fan fare that it got, but I just did not get it. It has some catchy songs, and it is likely that I am not educated enough on what makes him an impressive rapper, but I still did not like it that much. And I really do not like the un-necessary skits, and extra long songs that just seem to be him stroking his ego.

A fantastic album that I own on vinyl. Love the title song, classics like movin out and everything in between. Billy Joel gets criticized sometimes for copying other people, but his writing and musical ability are absolutely underrated. His composition is superb.
