Amazing. I’m ashamed to say that I’ve owned this for like 7 years, and I have somehow never listened to it front to back. This is what I imagine heaven sounds like. On the B side, I stood up on three separate occasions b/c I thought that the song was so good, that it must be their grand finale. Every time there was an even better song waiting in the wings

All this does is bring back memories of the "Sounds of the 70s" compilation CD commercial that was always on TV in the 90s.

As disco as it gets. Lovely smooth production on all the tracks here, deep basslines throughout, super catchy melodies. It does exactly what you expect Chic to do. It's a nice comfortable listen.

Cool disco vibes but I much preferred the Sister Sledge album.

I don't really get the Chic hype tbh. Similar to The Beatles in some ways. I get the musicianship, songwriting, popularity, etc and it's nice enough but just not my vibe. 7/10

I’ll be honest, I only listened to half of this and defo won’t have time to catch up due to all the sport. However I liked it, and have saved it.

Na pierwszy rzut okna, nie kojarzylem albumiku, badz bandu, ale juz na 2 kawalku zmienilem zdanie, bo le freaka z pewnoscia gdzies juz slyszalem, nie jestem pewny czy orginal w jakims filmie czy sample, ale kawalek kojarze, gatunkowo jest to funkowe disco, chociaz niektore kawalki brzmia nawet soulowo, jak at last I am free, ktory jest kawalkiem utrzymanym w najspokojniejszym tempie, przy czym jest najdluzszym utworem plyty, brakowalo mi troche charakterystycznych chorkow jak przystalo na disko, ale nie mozna miec wszystkiego

Like a 7. At first I figured this was on there because there was one good song on it, then there were some other good songs. Not really my thing, but it was a good length and had fun energy

Gran album. LOL, En la reseña anterior le echaba mierda a la música disco y justo hoy toca un buen disco de disco, (pero en realidad solo le echaba mierda a los beegees porque no tolero sus voces agudas). Anyway, creo la propuesta del album está muy chida, suena sencilla y pegajosa. Hay chill y hay groove por igual: las guitarras y bateria on point (los dudes están actually tocando un bonche de instrumentos reales y poniendolos en el spotlight de un álbum de disco), buena producción, sax, trompetas y violines muy ocasionalmente para darle variedad, vocales superagradables (no como Bee Gees :v) Mood del disco: bailando lento, pero seductor, bajo los efectos de un buen balance de ansiolíticos y adrenérgicos en un pisito de colores. track favorito: sometimes you win (buen ritmito lleno de positividad con el bajo, las guitarras y el piano en armonía) Muy disfrutable: 9/10 (no 10 por la innecesariamente larga balada "At last I'm free" a la mitad del disco).

Classic disco album, great for getting up and dancing to and singing along to.

Good production . Tracks too long. A couple of stand out tracks, I want your Love being the main one but too many instrumental offerings.

Hypnotic charismatic disco record, full of great rhythms, summer vibes and cool tunes. And 'Le Freak' and 'I Want Your Love', of course

Jedoch verleiht das restliche B-Seiten Material - ganz zu schweigen von den knallhart lächerlichen Intro/Outro Tracks - eine redundant-aufgeblähte Belanglosigkeit. 1.8

Beim ersten Song, Chic Cheer wollte ich einem Impuls folgen schon dem ganzen Album eine 5 geben. Für die Erfindung und vollkommene Vorwegnahme von Deep House Music (ist was, Malo?), gespielt von einer klassischen Band vor Publikum mit Disco-Anspruch. Klassiker wie Le Freak und mein persönlicher Favorite I Want Your Love zahlen ebenfalls drauf ein - der Impuls ebbt aber bisschen ab und pegelt sich in Verstetigung eher bei ner 4 ein, getragen von der fantastisch schwebenden Schmuseballade At Last I Am Free. Und auch die Abba-esken Streicher in Funny Bone machen mir das nicht kaputt. Außerdem noch zu sagen: perfektes Handwerk perfekt abgeliefert. “C’est Chic” by Chic (1978) R&B/early disco, with lyrics basically consisting of “I want you, baby; Let’s dance!” and other inane dance club pickup lines. But the music is very well done, if you can get past the New York City Club 54 pretentiousness. Excellent lilting bass and feathery guitar, if somewhat excessively repetitive. “Savoir Faire” displays some nice rhythmic variations, and fine jazz lead guitar solo. This track is really the highlight of the album. This album makes me want to dance, but it’s 5:37am, and I got nobody. Overall, good. 3/5

Escuchar este álbum fue como estar en una fiesta (de tema retro, por supuesto). Si con Neil Young pasé por una escucha llena de tristeza, C'est Chic fue lo contrario: ritmos y melodías alegres, incluso en sus momentos más suaves, como "Sometimes You Win", "At Last I'm Free" y esa especie de interlude que es "Savoir Faire". De repente es meloso, pero se oye todo muy bien. Los bajos son muy buenos y las voces siempre quedan, además "Le Freak" es un rolón. El cierre del disco justamente asemeja a cuando dejas una fiesta y se oye el barullo, las risas a lo lejos... Quizá el único contra es que de repente se vuelve monótono, pero muy leve, no es un gran problema. 9.5/10

I'm not really into this genre, but this album was perfectly OK, not annoying, good listening.

2.5 | Es disco... Un disco de disco con una de las canciones disco más disco de la época disco que representa el disco. Quizá se oye un poco mal pero la intención no es insultante, en realidad es disco muy bien hecho con interesantes arreglos, Le Freak es de verdad una obra maestra de su género, pero inevitablemente termina sintiéndose un poco cansado para la segunda mitad, algunas partes se sienten con un dejo más a R&B pero no lo suficiente como para que se sienta variedad en el sonido. Escucharlo hace volar la cabeza a un imaginario de estar en el Studio 54 con Olivia Newton y Andy Warhol sentado al lado de Stallone mientras jala líneas del ancho de un pulgar, es la música perfecta para su época y para los fines que tenía pero esa época se fue, esos fines y todo ese mundo ya no existen y se esfumaron en unos años tan rápido como aparecieron, sea para mal o para bien. Un disco que da nostalgia por que haya más decadencia no puede ser tan malo.

This is what I think when I say 70s music. Nice to listen to.

More super familiar music I never bothered to know the facts about before, so it nothing else this project is broadening my knowledge. Disco is not particularly in my wheelhouse though I am certainly of similar vintage.

Best disco album of all time? Love the bass and guitar playing. Robert Wyatt's cover of "At Last I Am Free" is one of my favorite covers of all time so of course I love the original as well.

We all know "Le Freak". Overall not bad but nothing I'm freaking out over, ho ho ho ho ho.

Las primeras canciones muy bien: música Disco energética y alegre, pero en general el disco me pareció bastante intrascendente. La canción de LeFreak ya la tenía registrada en un playlist de disco.

2.5| Se nota que andaban en su onda Disco de los inicios por que no es tan rápido como 'Boogie Wonderland' por ejemplo. Si alguien me diera una explicación lógica sobre el por que el disco es considerado en la lista lo entendería pero mientras pasa desapercibido

Pues sí, los músicos que escuchamos aquí son el origen de la música disco y sentaron las bases para cosas que incluso hoy seguimos oyendo en fiestas. El bajista (que es también el compositor y líder de la banda) y el guitarrista (que inventó un estilo de tocar que hasta Daft Punk ha usado) son excelentes y se escuchan en cada track, así como los metales en 'I Want Your Love'; sin embargo eso no quita lo tremendamente repetitivo que se vuelve, y que para apenas 42 minutos, hacia el final estaba ya cansado del sonsonete.

It's fine. "Le Freak" the obvious standout. Some good grooves, but I like it more funky George Clinton.

For me this is Disco music. I loved it when I was young. Now I still like it after all this years. It survived time. A nice album in total.
