Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes

Lots of things in life are about timing and this album came up on my list the day after Adele’s 25 - so it’s kinda like spending an evening sipping 25 year old single malt whisky and then the next morning someone hands you a can of warm Budweiser.

No thanks. I liked the atmosphere but not much else.

Not so easy listening.

The vocals are uncomfortable, but not in a good way. I'm finding the instrumentals to be uninteresting and the lyrics aren't saving it.

Not a fan of this, felt a bit dull.

A desperately youth sapping album with zero redeeming features that made me thirsty for the blood of its creators. Seriously this sucked. And zero babes in sight.

This was genuinely horrible. It made me think of Suicide (NOT a double meaning) just in a different time with different drugs. And by that I mean it was genuinely horrible.

Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes did not sound like something I'd enjoy from the write-ups and the genre, and so it proves. This is awful indulgent rubbish from people who have an over-inflated opinion of themselves as musicians. 1.

Incredibly meh, dudes voice got annoying

Het begint wel aardig rockend, maar het wordt allengs vager... en saaier. En bij vlagen domweg irritant. Een a-capellagroepje gone rogue. Ik ging ervan naar Frans Bauer verlangen.

I guess it's all down to personal taste but I just don't understand how this album makes this list. Wikipedia gives the genre as Avant-Pop / Dark Wave / Experimental / Post-Punk and I think that says it all - specifying the genre as "avant-anything" or "experimental" tends to indicate to me an album that will only be liked by people who think that they're trendy.

Didn't like this at all. The constant buzzing effect on a lot of songs really got on my nerves. Most of all it's dull though, I was already bored when I got to the acapella fifth track "Ambulance"... Dum dum dum dum dum.. yawn

First song gave me a headache, abandoned after that

It feels like it's trying to hard to incorporate too many influences and not really succeeding at any of them because of it. It's not my thing at all.

Hmmm, kann ich nichts mit anfangen. Erkenne weder Musikalität noch Originalität, einfach ein wirres Durcheinander von Musikstilen, eher ein Discounter mit viel zu viel verschiedenen Genres 👎, desperate for success wäre der passendere Titel

the coolest thing about the album is its title dreams

Start of the album - not my thing, hopes are not high. Not a fan of how it sounds kinda like they’re whispering? I’m anti crackly noise. Staring at the sun big improvement from the wrong way. Slightly giving whiny man music. Not for me. A lot of noises happening in very strange arrangements. The urge to skip through songs was strong iwl.

Dropped album at track 5. The overall sound of the album feels very much all over the place trying to sound like other bands while succeeding at nothing. I couldn't bring myself to listen to any more of the songs after Ambulance. Very repetitive sound and lazy vocals, therefore not innovative at all.

I wish I could give it negative stars. I can't believe somebody would go to the lengths to make such horrible repetitive dull music.

Experimental music

Didn't care for it. Just sounded like a noise. Most tracks were disappointing because they had really great titles which raised my expectations. The track title names had lots of potential but fell flat.

Pish.

I know I had another album from them on this list, but I can't really remember anything about it. I do know that I was really annoyed by this one. It started off dull but passable then just got annoying. It passed my 1 star test: I couldn't wait for it to end and it pissed me off.

1/5. The equivalent of an early 2000s Depeche Mode. No sense and not my style at all.

This obviously came from a different list, 1001 albums you'll skip through because it's absolute shit. That droning pulse is awful, the lyrics are trite, but that all pales into insignificance with those grating vocals.

First song is a bit much. Almost cool, but far too busy. I don't like this much at all. This might be one of the worst albums I've heard

Ugh, horrible discordant noodling nonsense. Extra disappointing because I enjoyed Dear Science. Do they really deserve 2 albums on this list?
