Reviews (page 6 of 6)
After I finished listening to Dear Science, I thought, “Hey, that wasn’t actually half bad”. What I didn’t think was, “Man, I really want to hear another album from that band”. It was much more a one and done thing with me. Much to my dismay, this popped up today. It’s just another one of the many examples of serious missteps in terms of what albums were chosen. There really did not need to be more than one album from this band. Just having the one was probably more than needed. We couldn’t even get one album from Godspeed You! Black Emperor or J Dilla. But instead, I found myself listening to this. Being that this came out a couple years before the other record, it was bound to be somewhat different. Safe to say it was. It was such a drastic switch just within the first song, that I actually went back and listened to the opening track of Dear Science. And the differences are staggering. This takes a much more experimental approach. And I’m really glad their music evolved away from this over time. Because there is so little genuinely enjoyable music here, it’s surprising. This is not experimental in the right ways. At least not in the ways I like to hear. It’s more like if some AJR fans who are also theater kids came together to make an indie rock album, and were like “Let’s make it really dark and weird”. What results from that is this jumbled mess. First thing I have to speak on. The amount of A cappella on these songs drives me insane. Because this is the last context it would sound any good in. I am not opposed to that form of singing at all. I am an avid fan of Smooth McGroove. But you do have to be able to sing well in order to make it work. Singing well isn’t something these guys mastered. I actually found their voices interesting and enjoyable on the other album. So they must have improved between this record and that. This is like “baby’s first experimental rock album”. And it’s not one I would recommend to someone who enjoys that kind of music. Rating: 3/10
Grating... not for me. 2/5
2.5
I'm not a fan of monotony in music, and so far, this album seems to feature monotony. Four more songs in, and it's unchanged. This does not appeal to me.
I really like an album of theirs that isn't on this list, this was not good - all the worst bits of their other stuff
Didn't like this at all; not sure we needed two of their albums on this list really? Definitely preferred the other one we had (700 albums ago!), this one doesn't have the same edge to it. Staring at the Sun kind of gets there, but nothing other than that really moves me, it's really forgettable. Sounds like an album full of songs that Bloc Party didn't want. 2/5.
Interesting. Really needs a few more listens to make a great review, but it’s not something that really makes me want to listen to it again right away. So that tells me something. Just kind of meh! 2.5
only listened to 4 songs, it’s giving Beck if he was art pop and picked up the electric guitar.
this whole album sounded like the fake, intentionally crappy acapella versions of songs people make to not get copyright claimed on youtube when they're posting a tiktok
i like some art rock bands, but this album just did nothing for me. i think it's all the falsetto, it just sounds really annoying! it's bad! don't ruin your songs with it!! a few tracks were ok but the rest felt like they were trying too hard to be challenging and experimental. the atonality, the chaotic instrumentation, the seeming lack of song structure... it just doesn't amount to anything notable. i don't think I needed to listen to this (or the other TOTR album I got from this list) before I die. favorites: staring at the sun, ambulance
The first song was good and had me thinking I was in for a King Gizzard-style ride. The rest was tedious. I appreciated Bomb Yourself's shoutout to Japanese video game franchise Final Fantasy. Nobuo Uematsu would be proud.
Couldn't get on board with this, appreciated the weirdness but that wore off around the middle and overall a bit too much falsetto and humming
Wasn't my kind of jam, felt like a hippy funk vibe that went to a dark place, and wasn't fun music listening, but uneasy listening.
Is a member of TV on the Radio choosing the albums on this list? Two albums is excessive. I don't really get these, felt like a lot of musical choices were made to try and sound different as opposed to good. The highest rated song on Amazon was the acapella one which I really didn't like. By and large it was fine but shouldn't be on this list, or I'm missing something.
Better than Dear Science. My main issue is that it sounds like a collection of demoes. Not cohesive of finished. Ambulance was horrendous. Overall too weird.
Not convinced by this..... Like the last album of theirs we had, there are quite a few different styles going on here, but it's hard to know what exactly it is? I dunno. Anyway, nothing here made me think I need to come back and listen again really, although none was particularly offensive in any way. His voice reminded me of everything everything at times 2.5
Kind of weird.
Ratings: 5: I will happily play this album anytime 4: I may occasionally play this album of my own free will 3: I will happily listen to this if someone plays it in the background 2: I will tolerate this if it is playing in the background 1: I will leave the room if someone plays this in the background Just couldn't get into it.
There's a spot here and there of things I like listening to this album but unfortunately I found most of it pretty grating. Medium 2.
Don't like this at all. 'Experimental' music, bordering on the avant garde.
Already mediocre indie with some unnecessary droning noise slapped on top.
Not my thing
I still do not get this band. It just feels kind of middling and boring to me.
Meh I just couldn’t get into this one.
Avant-garde ish sometimes too much, don't like the vocals here and there, anyway some tracks are cool
So much duller than Dear Science. Pass
Didn’t enjoy this at all
Felt that Dreams song, the rest not so much.
It was ok until it got weird.
Agradável sem chegar a ser muito interessante.
Was expecting much better from this one after reading the reviews. But this may be one of the worst thus far. 3/10 Top 1: 1. Dreams
I respect this album, I bet the people who made it are pretty cool. But fuck I did not like listening to it. It's overall sound just did nothing for me. No individual track stood out either. I got nothing :/ Fav songs: - none
i don’t even know man. it just was not it im at a loss for words
The album started off horrible before serving three digestable, if not forgettable, tracks (Staring at the sun, Dreams, King Eternal)... and then it went downhill again. Ambulance and Poppy are two of the most annoying songs I've heard recently (the monotone dun-dun-dun background harmonies were just awful!) and everything else that follows is just... meh. This album constantly bordered on unlistenable or mid to me, and mostly sounds like a pretentious art student's project. Also, side note, but I usually prefer to know what the artist's talking about, and in this case, the singer's mumbly vocals were nearly undistinguishable at most times. If it wasn't already obvious, I did not like this, although I will give two stars for the artist's effort to experiment (even if it's a failure in my opinion).
No idea why this album is anywhere near this list.
Indie rock, part very arty and creative, part very normy. I struggled to find an 'in' to this, their debut, and much preferred their third album, 'Dear Science'. Rating: 2.5/5 Playlist track: Staring at the Sun Date listened: 04/05/24
Staring at the Sun klinkt wel enigszins bekend.
not for me
# Playlist Track - Staring at the Sun # Notes - Starts out alright, but looses the footing and end horribly. - Could be a weird album but the tail end is absolutely horrible. Not recommended.
I didn’t care for this one.
This is another just meh album.
Me gustó Ambulance... Ya está, el resto son melodías disonantes
Intriguing instrumentation and style, I couldn’t get past the singer’s voice.
Not great
Staring At The Sun is a jam. The rest is mostly filler.
Mom
Insanely forgettable
It's not because you call your genre "art rock" that it's necessarily good.
This band tried to aim at 18 different musical styles while reaching absolutely nothing. Impressive.
Not a fan.
I could have got excited about this if I'd heard it at the time it was released, seen them perform and so on. Hearing it for the first time now, it sounds okay but nothing special. Some good sounds. Fave track: Wear You Out
Især you could be loved.
I knew nothing going in on this one. Very art rock and experimental. It's not really my thing but makes for good background music.
emmmm slightly too much noise
Started out great but really dragged in the end. I loved the last TV On The Radio record I listened to on here but this one was definitely a miss. Favorites were Staring at the Sun and Wear You Out
Can’t say this one really grabbed me. It was creative. Favorite song was Staring At The Sun
I think I’d prefer the songs as singles. Hearing them all back to back as an album became repetitive to the point of grating
I could see myself liking this one more after a second listen but on the first pass, not for me
Felt like background music for a restaurant. Fine enough but probably won’t go back to
Sounded good, don’t know if I’d seek it out?
Eesh really didn’t like this one. I can’t totally pin point which parts I didn’t enjoy I just think as a whole there wasn’t any part that made me think hey this has potential. It didn’t hurt my ears listening to it but just not my thing.
I guess I see what they were trying to go for on here. Kinda like a droning, Sonic Youth type feel to it. The vocal parts can get annoying really fast. A lot of the lyrics were kinda lame too. Not that great.
Solid indy stuff, not worth a repeat listen though
M-m-m-miiiid
I was optimistic with the start of this album. It sounded unique, different, special. But as it went on, I just wanted it to end. Why produce an album if you only have one song with a couple of variations to it?
An interesting project that ultimately sounds incomplete.
Very 2004
Pretty disappointed by this one. A cool band from my high school days that I always wanted to get into ('Return to Cookie Mountain' era). I like the sound of this group a lot, just not the songs. The songs aren't good. The main redeeming piece of this album is 'Poppy', and that alone isn't enough to make me give it a 3 in good conscience.
Meh.
Occasional charm Choir pop rock might be tight live Bolstering needed
Much of it hard to endure. Some of it decent, but not great.
I like their latter stuff, but this is a bit slow and odd
This album was alright- wasn't my favourite, but some of the songs I enjoyed listening to. It was a nice mixture of some rock/bluesy/electronic feel that worked for some songs, but the more folk/pop/electronic sounds did not work well for me
Another filler album, just to get to 1001?
Trippy. Not in an unpleasant way. Maybe need to be high?
Not for me.
Favorite Tracks: Staring at the Sun
It is like Pentatonix but bad... and when you're bad compared to Pentatonix...
dimenticabile
Just ok. Not spectacular. At times, too moody and annoying. To be honest the band has never really struck me as anything more than ordinary. Milk toast.
I really love the science, but this album is not essential
Meh
This is exactly my genre of interest, but I did not like it at all. A little too slow and sad. Could try to listen to it again when I'm in another mood.
This was a bit weird. Bit terrible but not great.
This is a worse than usual indie album. If you squint there’s a couple of sort of OK songs, the best being ‘Bomb Yourself’...but mostly this sucks.
I've tried this a couple of times over the last few weeks and I just can't summon enough enthusiasm to review it.
some good songs, otherwise not memorable
The ambient feel did grow on me, but I’m not sure I get the appeal
I like a lot of their more recent stuff, so I was excited for this.... sadly it just didn't do it for me.
Nojaa
Okay
I thought this was fine but it wasn't really my style. Started bad, got fine, and then got worse. 5/10.
A lengthy downbeat album that threatens to become interesting but never really does. The bass is pretty good and the doubling of the voices is an interesting effect. Beyond that it’s a kind of a snore. Best song: Wear You Out
Wasn’t really feeling this one. Similar to Jungle in a sense but not as smooth and cohesive. The acapella-ish sound , if that’s what they were going for, seemed a bit disjointed. The best was very repetitive and, at times, seemed like it was building up a climax of sorts but then the transitions usually fell flat. Not a fan.
Yeah I just couldn't get into it. Most all of the songs sound about the same
Fun album. A product of it's time. Not gonna return to this.
Quite Radiohead in its experimentalism. Textures and some surprising doo-wap. Bit boring overall.
Wat een ongedefinieerd geneuzel. Bah.
Blehhh. This album was exhausting to get through and it annoyed me by the end of it. The vocals were grating and the music was nothing. It's a low two. Really hope the other one is better. I guess my favourite song was The Wrong Way, but I didn't like any of them.
There’s lots of interesting things going on here but none of them add up to a memorable song
Yea...I've got to get to some Blackberry Smoke prep, so this will be relatively quick. First couple songs had me interested and thought different, but OK. Then we got to Ambulance and Poopy and I started to get a little annoyed. About the time of Don't Love You and Bomb Yourself, I thought to myself, this dude sounds a lot like Peter Gabriel. In other words, the interest wore off and I was thinking about other things. The end of the album just seemed to be noise and chanting and I'll be a sonofabitch, but there was the damn flute. The flute! WTF and just wrong. Ran a little long too, but in reality, I was done once I heard the phucken flute. I was prepared to rate a 2, but given the flute factor, 1.5 it is. Scoreboard will show 2. 1.5
I liked the moody distorted bass songs more than the a-capella stuff which reminded me of when the Always Sunny gang does their joke a-capella stuff. 2
2 For a group I had previously never heard of and that I thought offered a pretty mediocre listening experience last time, I really wasn’t expecting to see these guys again on this list, but here we are… and it’s even less enjoyable than before. I’ll give them this, the group has a pretty unique sound, to the point where I have no idea what genre to even classify them as. Industrial easy listening? Noise lounge? Thankfully, I have Wikipedia to bail me out here, which classifies this album as “avant-pop” and “dark wave”, neither of which are terms I’m familiar with, but both seem apt. Unfortunately, it seems neither avant-pop nor dark wave are my thing - the songs here for me ranged from uninteresting to annoying (holy cow Ambulance might be up there as one of the worst things I’ve heard on this list so far). While I wouldn’t describe every song here as sounding the same, I would say they’re all doing the same kind of thing, and so I found this to be a really repetitive and uninteresting ride to the end. Not sure why the listmakers have such a hard-on for these guys - I really teetered towards a 1 here, especially with the inclusion of Ambulance, but I think the rest of the album is at least inoffensive enough to keep it out of that territory. Still, don’t see myself listening to any of this again.
White noise inspired. Sounds like to budding artists got together in a studio and recorded it. It's got potential though. A good album to drive back home to. Or listen to while you're being slow or about to sleep
4/10
I wish I could give this 2.5 stars, but alas that is not possible. So while I don’t think it fully deserves 2 stars, I will be giving it this. There were some parts that I liked, particularly some of the sounds at the beginning, but I have no urge to give it a re listen.
I never bought into the hype around the cohort of hipster bands that emerged from the New York scene (especially centered around Brooklyn) in the early 2000s. TV on the Radio weren't as (uncritically) over-rated and fawned over to the same degree as, say, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs or the Strokes. Pitchfork even described them as "soulless". This album is a bit cleverer (and more original) than most of the other bands on the scene (even if derivative of NY post-punk from the first go around), but it flatly does not rock. And you can't dance to it. It's really unfocussed and noodly. It could use a bit more drama, and a little less intellectual remove, or like the band are slightly sedated. It really just sounds like demos of what might have been a cool album. Two stars.
This album doesn't deserve to be on the list. While it is all right and has some character on some of the songs it is still meandering. Loops are not an adequate replacement for actual drums.
This is the second TV on the Radio album that I've gotten in this generator. The first, Dear Science, was a teriffic album. This one... Not so much. A lot of shrieking and random humming on this album. Also, really weird and experimental music and noises that just didn't hit for me. Super disappointing seeing how much I liked that first album of theirs that I reviewed. Dude has a voice that sounds like Prince by times. Favourite songs: Don't Love You, Bomb Yourself Least favourite songs: The Wrong Way, Ambulance, You Could Be Love 2/5
Nothing burger. But not awful.
Average at best
boring
Don’t understand the critical appeal of this band to begin with, much less this dirge of an LP. The last thing I needed today was TVOTR’s insufferable vocals over ambient drone sludge for an hour, maybe they got tired of pretending to care about writing interesting, dynamic songs.
The high vocals on TVOTR always sound like muppets singing to me. This album didn't change my mind.
It's like a mix of Pixies, early Radiohead and something else I can't really put my finger on. It's very experimental. This album was OK at best. I liked the first two songs but then it droned on.
I really tried to like this and I do think there are a couple of good ideas spread across the album. But mostly the music is just so extremely inconsequential. Why this would be included on here is completely beyond me.
Olipahan tylsä ja kaikin puolin laimea levy. Ei tuottanut mitään elämää rikastuttavaa kokemusta.
Vilahti vähän niinku ohi päivän aikana ku autossa ajeli. Ei jäänyt erityisesti mitään mieleen
Really disappointing. Probably the most overrated of the early aughts indie bands. 2/5
I remember the name but dunno if I ever heard these guys. Stupid hipster title in any case, even if it turns out to be great (it won't). eh, it's repetitive, minimalist indie rock. Was really bored by song #2 but it went for a full hour. Not a babe in sight. jeeeeeeeez. 2/5.
It's good but not great and also all the songs kind of sound the same.
It's an odd one.... nothing really exciting here. Might get better with time, we'll see. 2.5
No me gustó
Groupe inconnu.
I found the album to drag and each song being repetitive.
Again, just anything we run across at a yard sale gets on the list? -1
Pretty much a total miss for me. I tried to keep an open mind and find something complimentary to say but this one's a dud. Sorry to anyone who is a fan. Not for me.
Man, what is with the crappy experimental music lately! I could MAYBE see this being interesting in a live setting, but that's not why we're here. There's really nothing compelling or daring here, nevermind ear-catching. All that's left is typical 2004 modernist scraps that constitute the death rattle of proper rock music.
No me gustó.
hell no
no me gusto mucho
Pitchfork probably drools over this. Its got some noticable Post rock elements to it and pushes the boundaries of what boring Indie rockers are allowed to sound like. I also really don't like this slop. I find it boring and unsatisfying and it seems way too far up it's own ass. Nothing of this album is gonna be remembered by me except the goofy vocals and the few incredibly awkward and unpleasant song parts.
Starting off pretty boring and uninspiring. Why is this album here? Then it doesn’t improve. Might be my first 1. Not a fan at all. I genuinely think this is overrated and bad.
Not for me. 1/5
Good
I’m a fairly generous reviewer on this site. Normally, I can find at least a thing or two about an album that makes it not a one star. But this one is just offensively bad. After listening to the first song, I was hopeful because it was a little weird (we like weird), and also seeing that one of the “similar artists” to this band is one of my favorites, LCD Soundsystem. Their sounds are similar in some ways it’s true: the minimalist beats, falsetto singing. They were also both early 2000 bands from New York Coty. But I could barely stay awake through this album, and when I was, I felt like taking a sleeping pill to get through it. At least with James Murphy‘s falsetto, there was some energy and grit. Much of this album felt like torturous ASMR, where the singer would whisper nonsense in an extremely high-pitched voice. I was waiting for something to indicate that the people behind this album didn’t take themselves so damn seriously, and this was all a joke, but that never came. There’s no humor, lightheartedness, or energy at all in this album, and I was drained and pissed off after listening to it.
Poorly mixed. Way too much heavy droning bass. Annoying lead singer. Dumb lyrics.
I want to go back to all my other reviews and give them an extra star

I really like TVOTR's hits. Never listened to anything else. And maybe it would grow on me. But a first listen was bad... Wolf Like Me and Happy Idiot are great tracks. But they're not on this album.
This album is butt cheeks. Explain how I needed to listen to this before I die.
They have better albums
1+ Stars (3/15)
Nope!

exquisitely trash
Traaaaaash
I don't know what I deserved to have to listen to this album once in my life. I was going to give this a 2 since it was weird but still listenable music, even if some a cappella choices were suspect, and then the unrepentant final song began, complete with nonsensical warbling. I was so mad when I finished this album. Bye.
fourth rate landfill indie, a tired re-hashing a very well worn set of sounds and vibes. One star, begrudgingly given as it should be Zero- NOBODY needs to hear this album before they die.

Reviewing TV On The Radio’s "Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes" shortly after a bout of the flu may have tested my patience a little too far, but I simply found the album uninspiring. As my wife remarked while listening in: 'I think it's one of those albums that you have to be in the right frame of mind for.' Indeed! While "Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes" isn't musically poor, the experience felt one-paced and failed to hold my interest. Dull. Very dull. One star. 1. "The Wrong Way" – (2/5) 2. "Staring at the Sun" – (2/5) 3. "Dreams" – (1/5) 4. "King Eternal" – (1/5) 5. "Ambulance" – (1/5) 6. "Poppy" – (1/5) 7. "Don't Love You" – (1/5) 8. "Bomb Yourself" – (1/5) 9. "Wear You Out" – (1/5) Total - 11 Average - 1.22 210/1001 119/210 albums reviewed were new to me.
Honestly thought it kind of terrible. Singing that didn’t match the drum machine beats that just repeated during every song. I think the singing would have worked with different background music but the background music should he put down it was garage band levels of ass. 2/10
I'm not sure what this album was trying to be except thoroughly awful.
Fucking awful.
This is a prank, right? Wikipedia genres: (1) Avant-pop; (2) dark wave; (3) experimental; and (4) post-punk. More like post-music. Get it in the fucking bin.
Previously rated: #251 - Dear Science (2/5) *************************** Album #981 None of this was enjoyable to listen to. The worst was the high singing asshat. I was just going to rate this a 2 and move on, but then the last track, You Could Be Love, started. My GOD! An infinite number of monkeys with an infinite number of musical instruments could never, ever create something this horrible. It's the worst song I've heard in my 51 years on this planet. I'm not kidding. Just to make sure I wasn't forgetting something, I did a ctrl+f on my history page, and I've never used the phrase "worst song" before now. Evil itself created this, I'm sure of it.
Art rock, huh? Yes, they're working with sounds, but why? There's nothing here that captivates me, or a soundscape that arouses my interest in any way. This can go.
too desperate. too blood thirsty. probably Paul Simon fans (vampires).
Bit of a dirge
Nobody needed to hear this before they die. Staring at the sun was at least barely listenable. The rest was garbage. Once again, post-punk proves to be the garbage genre that it is.
I understand and appreciate why this album is included on this list. But it is not my genre. While it was “interesting” I will almost certainly never listen to it again.
Jag vibear inte med det här ALLS. Grabben som sjunger falsett borde sluta.
this was engineered in a laboratory specifically to annoy me
Fav: Wear You Out Least Fav: Ambulance That Ambulance song is one of the worst song I’ve heard this decade
meh didn’t finish
Will never ever put this album on again
The awkward falsetto is the star of the show.
Dreadful name for a band and album title. Nearly every song starts with feedback. Sub fall pap. Not worth even a moment of your time.
This album was a cry for help.

Bad
Total radomness with a side of unnecessary distortion. This was uninteresting and there wasn't a single hook to anything that I listened to.
cool album cover.
Could not get into it.
This guy desperately wants to be Beck, but doesn't have the ear to pull it off. He sings mostly in off-key falsetto, and the background sound is primarily a criminally distorted guitar. And the lyrics are what a person of average intelligence write to seem smarter. Noisy and nonsensical.
Couldn't even finish it....
Definitely something I wouldn't choose to listen to in the future. Hard pass on the hard synth.
Started out as indie music and then devolved into Experimental nothingness.
No lo escuché, je
Deliberately annoying. There are parts where it almost comes together but it's just like, why???
I'm hangover as fuck so I don't remember but I know I listened
This is fucking awful

Blegh
Tried to get into it but started developing a headache towards the end…
Unbearable. 2/10
Why is this album considered so seminal? I love indie sleaze, it was the soundtrack to my young adulthood and many excellent adventures. But this record, despite being at the forefront of that musical aesthetic, comes off as thoroughly boring. Won't be revisiting. 1/5
Awful
Art Rock - aha. 1/5
Not good, didn’t like any of it tbh. Sometimes you come across albums on here that are not ones you need to listen to in your lifetime.. well that’s this one.
Felt like noise for the sake of noise, got annoying fast
After listening to Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsy Babes and reading various reviews, I’ve come to the conclusion that this album simply isn’t for me—I just don’t connect with it the way others seem to. While there are some interesting musical moments, the vocal delivery feels uninspired, and the album as a whole lacks momentum. Across its 11 tracks, it constantly seems to be building toward something, yet never quite reaches a satisfying payoff. In the end, TV on the Radio doesn’t resonate with me. Favorite track: If I had to choose, “Bomb Yourself” stands out. Least favorite: Unfortunately, the entire album. Album artwork: The cover is fine, but nothing particularly memorable.
i did not need to hear this before i die! the grating vocals, backed by a 4-octaves higher shriek, followed by the same 3 guitar chords, are so boring to me. i do not understand the appeal.
Wow! Another album i wish never to hear again in my life
This is what happens when every kid gets a trophy. Bah!
TV on the Radio - Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes
Uninteresting and the songs seemed to drone on
Art rock must be interesting, and this is not that. Weak vocals struggling to produce mediocre, repetitive melodies over music, that, while unusual, is utterly forgettable.
Two absolute pieces of crap in a row. Who decided this album should be on the list!? Absolute waste of time. Time that I will never get back
Trying to be different for the sake of being different.
This album gave me a headache. I can give them some props for creativity but god damnit, why is there so much reverb? It's a lot of that and piercing sounds contrasting each other and I am in physical pain after this.
Lots of things in life are about timing and this album came up on my list the day after Adele’s 25 - so it’s kinda like spending an evening sipping 25 year old single malt whisky and then the next morning someone hands you a can of warm Budweiser.
Not for me
No thanks. I liked the atmosphere but not much else.
Not so easy listening.
The vocals are uncomfortable, but not in a good way. I'm finding the instrumentals to be uninteresting and the lyrics aren't saving it.
Not a fan of this, felt a bit dull.
deep fried yelling. i cannot stand the dual-tone layered vocals i feel like im going insane
A desperately youth sapping album with zero redeeming features that made me thirsty for the blood of its creators. Seriously this sucked. And zero babes in sight.
This was really terrible.
This was genuinely horrible. It made me think of Suicide (NOT a double meaning) just in a different time with different drugs. And by that I mean it was genuinely horrible.
Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes did not sound like something I'd enjoy from the write-ups and the genre, and so it proves. This is awful indulgent rubbish from people who have an over-inflated opinion of themselves as musicians. 1.
Wouw.. this is bad..
Could not get through even a couple songs. 0 stars.
Nothing of any interest.
I turned this off half way. Not sure why is this in this list
When one thinks being smart but just is pretentiously stupid.
Incredibly meh, dudes voice got annoying
I guess it's all down to personal taste but I just don't understand how this album makes this list. Wikipedia gives the genre as Avant-Pop / Dark Wave / Experimental / Post-Punk and I think that says it all - specifying the genre as "avant-anything" or "experimental" tends to indicate to me an album that will only be liked by people who think that they're trendy.
Didn't like this at all. The constant buzzing effect on a lot of songs really got on my nerves. Most of all it's dull though, I was already bored when I got to the acapella fifth track "Ambulance"... Dum dum dum dum dum.. yawn
First song gave me a headache, abandoned after that
It feels like it's trying to hard to incorporate too many influences and not really succeeding at any of them because of it. It's not my thing at all.
Horriblw
the coolest thing about the album is its title dreams
Start of the album - not my thing, hopes are not high. Not a fan of how it sounds kinda like they’re whispering? I’m anti crackly noise. Staring at the sun big improvement from the wrong way. Slightly giving whiny man music. Not for me. A lot of noises happening in very strange arrangements. The urge to skip through songs was strong iwl.
Dropped album at track 5. The overall sound of the album feels very much all over the place trying to sound like other bands while succeeding at nothing. I couldn't bring myself to listen to any more of the songs after Ambulance. Very repetitive sound and lazy vocals, therefore not innovative at all.
I wish I could give it negative stars. I can't believe somebody would go to the lengths to make such horrible repetitive dull music.
YUCK! One of the worse albums I've heard!! Doesn't even deserve a 1.
started off well, got forgettable then annoying
Didn't find any joy with this one!
I tried; I really tried. I was just irritated by it.
Experimental music
Didn't care for it. Just sounded like a noise. Most tracks were disappointing because they had really great titles which raised my expectations. The track title names had lots of potential but fell flat.
Pish.
I know I had another album from them on this list, but I can't really remember anything about it. I do know that I was really annoyed by this one. It started off dull but passable then just got annoying. It passed my 1 star test: I couldn't wait for it to end and it pissed me off.
1/5. The equivalent of an early 2000s Depeche Mode. No sense and not my style at all.
Mmh
Rather boring.
Ihme vinkunaa taas
This obviously came from a different list, 1001 albums you'll skip through because it's absolute shit. That droning pulse is awful, the lyrics are trite, but that all pales into insignificance with those grating vocals.
First song is a bit much. Almost cool, but far too busy. I don't like this much at all. This might be one of the worst albums I've heard
you guys accidentally turned the treble all the way down
eu votei sem querer
Ugh, horrible discordant noodling nonsense. Extra disappointing because I enjoyed Dear Science. Do they really deserve 2 albums on this list?
2 Again. Didnt quite hurt my ears Actually 1 I cant take this
I ALREADY RATED THIS YOU IDIOTS
Not a big fan of the instrument choices or the vocals.
