thought this was a cool album for the 90s or something. 2 starts for actually being from 2017

Dismal. The band was somewhat OK but the lyrics and vocals were so bad I actually laughed a couple times. Oh and the cover is the worst.

Folksy guitar + vocals. Fast car song.

After not really liking their debut album, I was very pleasantly surprised by this! Fun album with a mix of styles that still has a punk feel. Who knew punk could be good?

Certainly has its moments, but overstays its welcome. Even Layla, which is a banger, shouldn't have that second half imo

This is an amazing album. I saw Herbie live, and you already know his encore was playing Chameleon on a keytar.

I'm going to appreciate Kraftwerk for the ambience and electronic experimentation while still hating every second of actually listening to it.

From the guy who sings Hallelujah in the Shrek movie comes a whole album that isn't the song Hallelujah. After listening to this album I listened to Hallelujah. That song is great, Leonard Cohen writes beautiful lyrics and Rufus' voice is sorrowful and brings out the heart of the song. Oh right, Want One is ok I guess not my sort of thing.

I find I like this much less than the Beatles.

Like I would like this album more if you just stripped the vocals away.

Can't put my finger on anything specific I don't like, but somehow this sum of a bunch of decent but not amazing things make an album that I just can't care about. Like the singing is not bad but not anything I'll remember. The instrumentation is nice with interesting sounds, but again nothing that really grabs ahold. DLZ was pretty good tho

Kind of bland inoffensive pop-rock. I dunno man it's like dad-roadtrip-music or something. Didn't have to be this long. Songs were pretty repetitive so I started skipping to the next one halfway through to make it to the end. Apparently the last side is pretty much live studio. I like it better. Sounds less sterilized, or maybe I'm just biased to think it is. Anyway probably won't revisit this.

Put together decently well but just not enough going on. Too repetitive. Boring, even. If you want a chill album to listen to, try Beat Tape 2 by Tom Misch. For me it perfectly balances repetitiveness and new elements. Anyway Smokers Delight gets like a 2 or whatever.

Definitely liking this more than the other Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds that I've had so far. Feels more consistent. I have a thing for wandering lyrics so this works for me. His voice doesn't blow me away but it does the job. Simple arrangements work well for the sad vibe. Overall would listen to again while sad.

This was pretty fun, even though the production isn't super high. Felt like a bunch of friends jamming. Some of the songs aren't particularly good though. I Can't Stand It - yeah accurate song title. Somehow I listened to the Deluxe version which is far too long.

Don't think it's my favourite rap album but it's good. The rapping feels smooth. The beats are not bad. Wasn't a fan of the Beyonce song. The album is dragging as it goes on. Not enough of the lyrics are really popping, and the 2000s beats are getting to me. Still not bad.

I guess I can see the influence it had on later bands, but can't say that I really enjoyed listening to this. Not that it was bad, the sounds were pleasant, but it wasn't super interesting to me. Just a bit too simple. 2 seems too harsh for this so 3 I suppose.

Wow crazy how some relatively small changes can change my enjoyment of a band. I did not like this, especially compared to Master of Puppets. Too much drums. Guitar riffs are good as always, but overall too thrash-y for my tastes.

Nice. I liked the instrumental songs most. The vocals sound pretty classic indie-rock (which I don't really like), but the instrumental parts are more latin-indie-rock, which is cool.

I think I love this. Had only listened to Chicago II before, but this feels more raw. A bit less polished, and it really suits them.

Seems reminiscent of, yet maybe slightly worse than, Rain Dogs. Apparently this album is the first that he self-produced, and Rain Dogs was 2 years later, so that kind of tracks. I'm grooving to 16 Shells from a Thirty-Ought Six though. Yeah overall this was good. Very similar to Rain Dogs. I think we could have had one or the other on this list.

Kind of like the stuff with Neil Young but without Neil Young's annoying voice. Vocals aren't like, great here, but they don't annoy me. Guitar work is great. I wish this was an instrumental album, it would be way better. Damn it I was listening to the wrong album. Manassas later became the name of the group, and released another album. OK listening to the correct album. It's like ok I guess. Too long. Some good parts, mostly pretty dull.

This is like a famous record. But it doesn't do all that much for me. I mean, it's not bad. Bass lines are fun. Background is fine. Marvin can sing. But somehow it doesn't add up to anything super impactful for me. I guess it never really feels like it's going anywhere.

I really wanted to like this. I should like this. But oh my god I cannot get past these vocals. Honestly unlistenable.

I'm of a couple minds about this. First off I hate Pictures At An Exhibition from the time I played it in concert band. But I love classical music in general, and prog rock covers of classical music sounds like a great idea. But I don't like live albums. Haven't listened to ELP before. Overall ok. Curious to listen to a different ELP album though.

I can appreciate the groove but I don't think I'll revisit. Not enough going on. High 2 or low 3.

I got pretty into this. Great guitar stuff in here. The band is pretty tight. Somewhat sparse arrangement which works for them.

Winnipeg? Not my style. I'm not always against dance music but I usually am. Too repetitive, too simplistic. Too easy listening, if that makes sense.

Pretty fun. I've listened to this before. It's not a killer album but it is enjoyable. Nothing really grabs out and gets you but the playing is solid.

Biggest downside is how all the songs sound pretty similar. Not a huge fan of his highest pitch vocals. Instrument work is pretty good though. Don't think I'd actively listen to this much but it's nice low background.

I didn't really enjoy this. Even compared to other Cohen albums on here. I'm sure the lyrics are nice, but if I don't enjoy listening to it why not just write poems?

Suuper weird. Overall I found this good but not great. Some of the weirdness didn't coalesce into something I could enjoy. But some of it did! So going for a 4 star.

I liked this better than the later Kings of Leon albums, it sounds much grittier. I really didn't like the vocals here though, like he wasn't enunciating at all. First song kind of pulled me in but the slow songs were awful.

I really liked In the Court of the Crimson King so I was excited to see King Crimson pop up again, but I didn't really enjoy this. It had some moments, but overall it didn't feel like it was really leading anywhere. The arrangement felt pretty sparse too which I didn't love. I tried it a couple times but probably won't revisit.

Ok but didn't like as much as their first album.

Better than I expected - I had only listened to one full Kanye album before and I really didn't like that. This had some great production, which makes sense, and some surprisingly good stuff from Kanye. But it definitely falls short for me. Way too long. Annoying skits. And, well, Kanye.

Really didn't need 3 albums by this guy. Oh jeez just checked and he has 4 solo albums on this list + 3 with the Smiths. His voice is fine and the music is ok I guess but it falls flat a bit for me like it's kind of bland.

It's smooth, low-volume. Yea

beautiful but repetitive. I get that that's probably intentional since it is religious, but that doesn't mean I have to love it. My favourite parts were when he breaks from the repetition, but that doesn't happen enough for me to bump to 4 stars.

I wish I could compare this to the Cocteau Twins album I've already reviewed, but I literally don't remember it. I don't really like the etherealness. And a bunch of the songs are too repetitive. I think the drum machine really hurts my enjoyment. Singing is not bad. I think the whole vibe just isn't for me.

I find The Rolling Stones not very interesting. First song was good but the rest is not interesting for me. This is my 5th album by them so far. This is like a 3 but I'm taking a point for being nothing new compared to the Stones albums I've had so far because I'm annoyed at these repeat-artists where the extra albums don't add anything.

Not my all time favourite album but well-deserving of a 5. Definitely biased though since I grew up listening to Fleetwood Mac.
