The Rolling Stones
1/5
Did not enjoy any of it. I actually looked at the other reviews and there is a guy who wrote a freakin soliloquy about how amazing it is and I just dont see it, crazy how different two people view the same thing.
He does say his sister bought him the album in 1971 so a bit older and definitely the time of life that this stuff makes an impression, but still, cannot believe this is held up as some kind of amazing rock album. Led Zepplin eats their lunch in every conceivable way.

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
4/5
Nice to be exposed to it. Apparently it is called Qawwali .
Very different than what I am used to, but at the same time, definitely not alien, there is a familiarity with it that transcends language.
3.5 but would give it 4 for the novelty.

Incubus
5/5
Definitely 5 stars for me. Probably 4.5 if I am being objective. An album I will always really love.

Neneh Cherry

Tried to fuse a bunch of sounds together in the same way that a kid would try to make a meal by adding every ingredient in a fridge. But worse. A true 1.

Simple Minds

Really did not like this. Seems like typically the type of thing I can at a minimum tolerate and usually find something to enjoy, but this was not it.
It was the first version of 80's Brit Pop I have heard. It all felt like a really bad version of Sledgehammer and Phil Collins mashed up.
Did not enjoy.

Tracy Chapman
4/5
Liked it more than I was probably expecting. Know her from Fast Car and watching that video in my youth.
Behind the Wall was powerful and she is clearly a voice for those that need one.
Enjoyed Mountains O Things and Baby Can I Hold you as well.
Green Day
3/5
Had listened to this quite a bit then. Not the entire album, but the big 3-4 songs I had heard many times.
I like the music and it is undeniably well made, but at the same time, just ultimately not my thing. Don't mind listening to it but cant imagine myself seeking it out.
New Order
4/5
Enjoyed more than I thought I would, especially after the first track, which was the lowlight for me.
I do not know who did the song Dream Attack and thought, these guys remind me a ton of those guys. Turns out they are the same guys.
Charles Mingus
3/5
I think this is the most pure "jazz" I have ever listened to. It is - a bit tough. Not particularly smooth, but generally interesting.
I do not care for it a ton halfway through, will see if the final two songs move me more.
I have listened to them all a couple times now and it is growing on me a bit. I dont know how much I would want to listen to it, but I am starting to enjoy it more
Elvis Presley
2/5
Really didn't care for it. Not much more to say than that. It is not awful but it is definitely not something that I would want to listen to again/regularly
Buena Vista Social Club
4/5
Enjoyed the album quite a bit. Not the music I would typically listen to, but I am familiar with it living in the SW for 20 years.
Pretty impressed, don't know how much more I will listen but will be more open to that type of music now.
The Band
1/5
The band sucks. Did not like anything they did, at all.
Stopped halfway through, couldn't do it anymore.
3/5
This was fine. It is the Beatles so it is good, but definitely not my favorite music of theirs. Dont imagine I would want to listen to it over their other stuff.
Talk Talk
2/5
The Flaming Lips
5/5
I am digging this two sings in. I have heard of this previously but didn't know much about it other than it existed.
Continued to really like it. It is a very cohesive and the songs really tell a story. Would definitely listen to it more.
Final verdict is it is a cool album ahead of its time, it sound like it could have come out this year and I definitely dig it.
David Bowie
4/5
Cool album. Was familiar with it when it came out and Bowie died kinda shortly thereafter, so it got a popularity bump from that at the time.
Definitely sounds like Bowie knew he was not going to be around for much longer as he was making this. His voice sounds like the voice of a movie/anime character that knows they are completing their last work(s) before they will expire.
Lazarus is best song, but I really like the sax throughout the album.
The Rolling Stones

Red Hot Chili Peppers
4/5
Liked it. Funkier than I remembered it being.
Flea is a god on bass, really heard him throughout the album.
Good shit.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
4/5
Enjoyed it. Was very familiar with Heads Will Roll, liked it then, liked it now.
The rest was also good. Though the tone of album really chained from the first few songs to the last. Which is not a problem in itself but the tonal differences were so big that I caught myself wondering if it was still the same album.
Simple Minds
1/5
Really did not like this. Seems like typically the type of thing I can at a minimum tolerate and usually find something to enjoy, but this was not it.
It was the first version of 80's Brit Pop I have heard. It all felt like a really bad version of Sledgehammer and Phil Collins mashed up.
Did not enjoy.
Steely Dan
3/5
Knew the name Steely Dan but not too much of his music.
Super noodly guitar riffs, enjoyable but wont come back to it much.
The B-52's
3/5
Meh. I can appreciate them on one hand and dislike them on the other.
Weird as shit. Good for them.
The Jam
2/5
Donovan
2/5
Super hippy 60's music. Not for me.
Morrissey
3/5
Not bad. Apparently this generator is 70% brit pop but this was better than most.
The Go-Go's
4/5
Digging it. Good vibe, good beats, good pacing.
Really solid and would definitely listen to it again.
Cream
3/5
Liked it. Super hippy 60's vibe. Wouldn't listen to it much, but wouldn't change most of it if it came on.
Ian Dury
2/5
Super simple and boring. Not sure if this guy was singing, sounded like he was just kinda talking.
Couldn't listen to all of it, bored the hell out of me.
The beats were maybe decent for the time (not really but trying to be nice).
There is a lyric on the most popular song where he says this is my tailor, hes called Simon, he is sure it will fit, lol.
John Prine
3/5
Enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Wish he was a bit less religious as 3/4 songs were about angels or coming home to heaven. But the ones without I would definitely listen to again.
The Avalanches
4/5
Pretty dope sample album. Really enjoyed hearts in 3/4 time. Great transitions. Can't give it a 5 because some of the tracks ended up being too repetitive and sampled, like Frontier Psychiatrist.
But overall definitely enjoyed it and would listen to it again.
fIREHOSE
2/5
Meh. Did not enjoy. Didn't hate it, its not offensively bad or anything. More of an elevator music vibe.
What a terrible album cover, though. Not sure if I have seen one worse.
Julian Cope

David Bowie
3/5
The Chemical Brothers
4/5
Dug it. I am into a synth vibe right now and they crushed it
Jacques Brel
2/5
Primarily this dude signing in French, I mean its not bad, this guy can clearly sing, but not my thing I am looking for.
Think I would have liked it a lot more if the instruments were more prominent.
Supertramp
4/5
Super weird but I dug it. Listened to it a couple of times and may come back to it. Was hard to describe, in a good way.
Black Flag
2/5
Eh. Its super punk or whatever. I was never as enamored with punk as my peers were. Super basic and boring music, wouldnt listen to it again.

Taylor has way better stuff than this, pretty boring album. Good stuff on it, don't get me wrong, but when you are here, you get compared to your discography each time.
If this just had more different types of songs it would be a 4, but I just felt that they all sounded the same.

This was one sad song about heartbreak extended over an entire album. Funny to think about how masculine/macho/machismo we think about this time period and how cool Sinatra was, juxtaposed against him crooning being a sad sack loveless loser for an hour. 2.5
