1001 Albums Summary

Harmonica was disturbing bluese parts that I was enjoying. Vocal was not great not terrible. Album was much better when I was focusing on combination of guitar and keyboard. Leopard Skin Pill Box Hat is defenetly the best part of that album. Temporary like Achilles is also not bad

It's ok. Mix of good rock and good pop.

Definitely not my type of music

I enjoyed this album as whole. Both music and vocal was just great. And it also had nice harmonica! I was thinking: "yeah, it will be solid 4". And then "Good Golly Miss Molly" came and well.. it is 5.

I love energy and of this album. Little Richard's vocal is great and I wouldn't change it for any other. It is one of my favourites albums.

Great album. I have already known some songs from this album before. Now when I listened all "London Calling" songs I reminded myself one of the things that I love about punk music - lyrics. Punk bands sometimes sing about things that others would be afraid to or wouldn't want to. I also love contradiction between live and sometimes happy music (and I know that musically it is not stereotypical punk music) and those problematic, at times dark lyrics. I especially feel this in "Spanish bombs" and "Rudie Can't Fail"

Nice lo-fi, r&b vibe. Nothing outstanding but still quite nice album. Solid 3

Nice rock with some kind of hypnotizing vocals. "It's the end of the world as we know it" is timeless classic that will be played in different radiostations until the end of the world.

Nice bluesy album. I really like vocal on this album. Maybe this album is a bit too varied but I like individual songs too much to care about homogeneity of album as a whole. "I heard it through the grapevine" is awesome.

I could rate "Cross" without listening - just based on my memory but every excuse is good to listen this album one more time. It is one of my favourites electronic music. Songs fading out and fading in from one to another makes listening it very smooth. I love those a little bit noisy sounds, I love this energy 12/10

Old, classic pop with a lot of songs for brokenhearted

Musically this is really nice album. Especially considering that "Licensed to Ill" was their first album. Unfortunately lyrics are not so much for me. Nevertheless this album has it's good moments.

Quite nice calm album, just not exactly in my type.

A bit bizarre but interesting album. I think that I have never heard anything like this. Tribal like singings were kinda hypnotizing. Electronic music sometimes made athmosphere unsettling

Truly classic pop album. Both title song and "Billy Jean" are great, timeless. I really like that kinda background sounds that Michael was making in some songs.

It is so boring that I don't even know what to say.

Part of this album has really good beats and vibe but second half is downfall. Lyrics are not especially for me.

This is too minimalistic for me. It is quite pleasant but I'm just not big fan of ambient music. I just feel that this album is not dense enough. Things are happening but it is more background music in my opinion than 1h and 11min worth of focused listening.

I don't know what to think about this album. It has high points. It has low points. It is a bit more than 3 but not enough for 4

Obviously I knew "Message in the bottle" and "Walking on the moon" so I was expecting kinda two hit wonder album. But the rest is just not pleasant. I just wonder why The Police was/is popular? And why Sting even considered himself as singer?

I started listening this album with my cheap bluetooth headphones and I thought it was nor great nor terrible. But next day I switched to much much better wired headphones. And difference blew my mind. There is so much great music going on in the background... Voice is good and it works with music perfectly.

This album suffers from lack of interesting aspects. Neither music nor vocal are compelling. At the same time they are not straight bad. I could accept it as background music. I guess dream pop is not for me.

Uneven album

I know, it was innovative. But it does not mean that it is automatically good. It has two enjoyable songs. Despite them this album is all over the place and not good.

Truly great album. That was my first time listening this album from beginning to the end without interruption. Music is great, I love those vocals (especially synced vocals). It's just perfect.

Oh damn, that is great fusion of postpunk and synthpop with great great vocal. Bass is really ejoyable. When You take everything apart it is so simple, at moments almost too simple. But at the same time everything fits well. Lirycs are worth mentioning on their own. They feel like true poems that balance on verge of despair and hope. When You mix everything it makes specific but somehow very good album.

Musically it is really nice album. But sometimes Bowie's vocal was not fitting whole music around.

At first I was not convinced with beginning but later parts made me enjoy this album. Mix of funk and psychedelic themes is really interesting

I like how energetic most of this album is. Combination of piano and wind instruments sounds really appealing.

Nice album but I didn't expect so much blues vibe. I don't think that second song fits rest of album well. Offcourse first and last song are great classics

There is pretty much nothing interesting in this album

It has it's good pieces like "I've got to see you again" but there is not much going on. I can see it as good background music for good restaurant.

I really like this album. This distinctive (maybe a little bit industrial) Judas Priest music with unforgetable Rob Halford voice is just too good. Breaking the law was probably the first song of Judas Priest I have ever heard. It still is one of my favourites.

It's really boring. I don't know why it was such a big deal and breakthrough for Lambchop

I had strong Kraftwerk vibes from the beggining. Nothing suprising considering release date. Classic synthpop sound. Some tracks were a bit new wave/post punk and I like that little bit of diversity

It's perfect 3,5 for me. But unfortunately there is no half. So let's give it 4. It's nice album. I hope it will return favour during future listening.

This is true 60s rock album. I think that it might stay with me for a long time

This album grew on me. Second half of this album made me listen first half one more time and it definitely wasn't wasted time. Music and vocals are both great. As usual I really appreciate keyboard.

I really wanted to give this album at least 4 but I truly think it does not deserve more than 3. There are not enough good moments to rate this album higher. Maybe I would rate it higher couple years ago, maybe 10 years later I would enjoy it more. Nowadays there are many better indie post punk albums that I would rather listen. This one was close but not close enough.

There is only one memorable song

Yeah, this album has one or two more recognizable songs. And what? Is that all?

I was going to give this album 4. But then I listened it one more time and one more time... The atmosphere of this album is great, hypnotizing. It is very homogeneous but not boring. Sound of guitar, drums and synths is perfect and timeless

Interesting album. Somehow it manages to be diverse and kind of homogenous at the same time. Songs definetly feel like creation of the same artist/group. It is enjoable but I am not able to say what genre this album represents.

This was hard to rate because I have feeling that this album has wide spectrum of songs. Too wide in my opinion. There are songs that are too chaotic, one or two are more mainstream and some are between those two points. This inconsistency made it not very pleasant as a whole but some songs are good.

I wouldn't call this album "bad". Vocals and music is technically good. But there is nothing intresting in it. I felt like I was listening some basic "contemporary adult" radio, not 1001 albums that I have to listen. Songs are fine but don't differenciate from each other and I don't remember any particular song. I would consider rating this album a bit higher but it is sooo long...

I have heard about Prince but that was my first time listening him. This album had its moments but was not something that I would consider one of 1001 that I had to listen.

Out of all albums that I love this is one of the most pesimistic when it comes to lyrics. Great, dynamic, atmospheric music with hypnotizing Ozzy's vocals make perfect match. Depressing lyrics make this whole experience hit different. One moment You want to jump to great riff, couple of seconds later you are dragged to the bottom with apocaliptic visions. One of my favourites. 6/5

I was not expecting this low on 1001 albums. My time has been wasted

This is nice album, Dusty had nice vocals. But it is "just" nice.

I would like to rate it higher because music is nice but vocals sometimes ruin effect. I get idea of flat, unemotional voice but this time it does not fit.

Individual songs sound nice but this album feels more like two mixed albums than one coherent

Wow. That was great. Great voice fits so well with music that I am not sure if it could be done better. Music is very rich and it really profits when You listen it on heaphones or just good setup. I should listen it couple times more and listen lyrics more carefully

It sounded good at the begining but there is not much variety. Some songs are almost indistinguishable. I wouldn't mind it as a background but despite not being very long it is not very interesting.

Damn, it takes courage to start album with full classical track and it made me keep attention. I really appreciate music diversity.

Wow, great album. I really like this mix of rock and new wave, great vocals and choirs. And that was their debut! That is one of the albums that surely fits on that list and I am gratful for it.

This time background and flow hit me different than other hip-hop albums. Songs are more varying than on "Licensed To Ill". Sometimes album may be a bit too inconsistent. I guess rapping tie it together instead of making monotonous.

Oh wow, I wouldn't expect that it is possible to make generally good, dynamic song and end it in such a boring way. Yes, I am looking at You "That's All Right". Four out of six minutes of this song is completely different than the rest of it. It is so different that it should be different song. It is not bad album. There is nothing straight wrong with it. It is just not very interesting. Despite rating in 3 I just don't know why it is here.

First song is really great. I love this orchestral build up. It made me hyped up for the rest of the album and "Go or go ahead" and "14th street" were the only ones that were up to the challenge. The rest was dissapointing, vastly different in terms of atmosphere and boring. I would love shorter album with development based on ideas more similair to that from mentioned songs. In my opinion 5/5 album would be possible. But with all things considered it is 3.6/5

I don't think that it really belong on this list. I like some dirty, harsh records but I don't think this neither special nor innovative. If this is peak noise rock that I don't want to hear any more of it.

It isn't really memorable but somehow it does not matter because it is still beautyful. I was going to give it 4 but it grew on me. Now I think that I will feel bad if I rate it 4.

Yeah... live album. I like James Brown but do we had to get concert album with audience? I don't know what is the deal with things like that. It is both worse than live event and worse than studio album. It could be 5 just because voice of James Brown and great, energetic music but it gets -1 for live version

This one is hard to rate. Some songs can be enjoyable but it is hard because of all mad chaos going around. Sometimes it is unbearable. I don't belive this belong on this list. It is more like abstract piece of art of painter who was wondering how much abstract can he get. 2,4/5

Music here is close to being too minimalistic. Fortunately when music seems repetitive vocal can still carry song and mix of both achieves pretty psychodelic atmosphere. It is 4/5 right now but I suspect it can grow on me even more.

It's mostly quite boring.

I like this album. I know some of Chemical Brothers' songs but they were not here. Still really good album.

It starts perfectly but it's loosing steam somewhere in the middle and second half is not as good (except "Burn the disco out").

It's been a long time since last good metal album. There are one of the best (if not the best) Metallica songs. I totally get why some people say that this the best album of this band. I'm not big fun of Metallica but this is still good metal album and it fits on this list.

I don't get it. It is not bad. Just boring

It has been scientifically proven that it is impossible for me to listen "Money, Money, Money" or "Dancing Queen" only once during listening of this album.

It was not very engaging to listen. First part of the album is ok but there is not much happening after 7 track. There is nothing wrong with it. It is just too minimalistic for me.

First half is nice but beggining of second disc is so sluggish. Unfortunately it stays like this for big part of second disc. Barely 4/5

From the very first minute I've got back to my memories of first missions in GTA: San Andreas. I really like music. Beats and other things are making the mood here. It is especially audible in "Lil Ghetto boy" in part without vocals. One of the best if not the best rap albums on this list. Lyrics are the reason why this is not 5/5

Wow, this album is a wild trip. I ignored first track - it is unbearable to listen to from first second. But rest of it is just crazy. During one 20 minute track it can go from perfect harmony to totally dreadful chaos and go back to great harmony. And this album is doing this many times this process is so smooth that I can't wrap my head around it. I have never heard other song with part that was monotonous and not interesting just to use it as a base to build more on it and turn it great and fascinating. Avoid first track.

I can't be indifferent to that good synthpop. It isn't as perfect as Kraftwerk but it's enough to get 5/5

I belive that this is one of the albums that should be rated with release date in mind. Today's equivalent of this album would get 4. But this album is more than 45 years old. I would like to be in such a good shape when I will be 45.

I wouldn't call myself Red Hot Chili Peppers fan. Despite that I know 1/3 of this album from rock radiostations. That is something worth noticing among albums with one hit wonders.

Good, oldschool metal album

Yeah, after absolutely not too much hours with "Soul Mining" I might be fanboy of The The. At first listen this album seemd to be a little bit worse than their debut but after second listening I think that they are just a bit different. Magnetic main vocalist, great rythm, bass and percussion are still present. I would say that whole atmosphere is quite similair to previous album. Neneh Cherry and backing vocals are making great job too.

It is not bad but a bit monotonous for it's lenght. Later albums are better.

30 minute album would be 3. 1h hour of not very dynamic and varied music is just too much

First song sets really high hopes for the rest of album. It's base is great and remains unbeaten by the rest of the tracks. Rest is still nice though.

What a fun, energetic album. It feels so fresh among so many medium rock albums. Maybe I should discover more Fela Kuti.

I think that there is not much to talk about when it comes to that album. It isn't one of the 1001 best albums ever for sure. It wouldn't also be one of the 1001 worst albums ever.

That abstract way of expressing sadness in post-punk lyrics is something that appeals to me. I could not be indifferent to words packed with that kind of music.

Despite these weird experiments with stereo, it is really nice album.

When I saw her name I knew that it will be good album. You can't go wrong with Aretha. Great voice, great music. Albums like this are essence of this list.

Thanks to 1001albums I started to appreciate a bit this kind of electronica. It's no masterpiece but it's pleasant to listen to.

My favorite electronic album. I can't wrap my head around how innovative it was in the 70s. Nowadays it seems so simple, almost too simple.

I don't think I know any album that would have reason to be a lot more than 1h long. It feels stretched.

That was a very nice and varied experience.

Interesting album. I understand that the movie's soundtrack has to be varied and also consist of some slower background tracks. But I was a bit bored during those calm moments. Parts of this album are around 4 but when I consider every song it is only 3.

This album has some ideas. But I don't get all of them. Dub Housing among most of the albums on 1001 is like abstract painting among those with more traditional content. It may be important for the development of music. But it doesn't change the fact that I don't like it.

It is not as good as "Lady Soul" but still nice.

This album somehow achieved being simultaneously boring and short. It is hard to rate the innovativeness of this album in the late '70s. Nevertheless, I am sure of one thing - being innovative does not always mean being good. I don't need more unexpected screaming - especially after ~30 minutes of monotonous music.

I don't like rating albums like that because it lowers my post punk albums score.

Interesting album

I had not been noticing this album for most of the time when I was listening to it.

I like the dynamics of the piano in some of those songs.

I have heard Arctic Monkeys before but not this album. I was surprised that I liked it so much. It has great dynamics and characteristics Arctic Monkey's vocals. Tempo feels faster than on "AM" for most of the time.

There is nothing bad with this album except it is incredibly boring.

From the first seconds I knew it is really good album. Discoveries like this are still keeping me on the list after almost 600 albums drawn.

Title track is the best true masterpiece but the rest of the album still holds up. Good album overall

Before listening to whole album I was familiar with only one song. It is unbelievable great mix of 80s pop and rock and 4 Ever 2 Gether is definitely the best track on the album. It's going to be one of my to go 80s album.

It was my first time listening this album despite being familiar with iconic cover art. I preferred the more intense parts of the songs. When I listen to albums like this one I wonder how it would be to listen it in the year it was released. First thing is that we are now more or less culturally biased to appreciate music like this. Second thing is that we know how music genres changed. Experiments from 60's are not that innovative to us because we know theirs offspring.

Before I started listening it I was wondering "Is it really that good?" Then I got goosebumps when vocals started on the opening track.

If You like fast paced metal You have to at least try it. I have ignored Megadeath for years. Now I'm glad I have listened it.

It is hard to rate. It has it's good moments and it has it's boring moments. It is barely 4.
