Great production and drums, last track in particular about 3 days too long
Blew me away, great music, two weeks, pendulum and kicks all stand outs but whole album is amazing
Much better musicianship than I thought
Pretty good, feel like this is the US version of Status Quo, mindless rock you don't need to think about (although musically more interesting)
Very pleasant lofi chill beats
Very bland and forgettable
Bonkers but brilliant, very much a musician's musician, never knew what was coming next
Interesting beats, not the best flow, felt like beat poetry at times, found it a bit of a slog
Fantastic album, think the last two tracks peter out a bit but there are some amazing grooves before this. Born under punches and once in a lifetime absolute stand outs
Really liked this, Hurt an all time classic and really enjoyed Desperado and We'll Meet Again
Loved this, great grooves, Every Ghetto Every City a real stand out for me
Quite dull, Coldplay for the 90s
Some really good tracks, especially enjoyed Time to get it together
Felt quite average, grew on me a bit from a very uninterested start
Great one two opener but dont feel the rest of the album lives up to it
I'm sure it's vital, just not a huge fan of punk
More interesting than I thought by quite a margin
Good grooves throughout, felt it faded into the background a couple of times but overall enjoyed it
Some proper classics in the first half but trails off a lot in the final 3-4 tracks
Enjoyed a lot of these, especially roundabout, felt some tracks could have been shorter though
The jazziest jazz to ever jazz, the ur-jazz. I know there's skill involved but not skill I'm interested in
Not a style I'm familiar with but was ok
First half is 5 star, peters off towards the end. Incredible bass
Makes me want an Aperol Spritz
Struggling to think of an album with a better run of songs than this
Weird but very enjoyable, really liked Equator
Found myself wanting this to be over halfway through, very average mid 90s ska punk
Amazing first half, felt some of the second half of the album was filler. 5 stars for the first half, 3 for the second
Not been a huge fan of much of the punk on here so far but this really impressed me. Surprisingly good musicianship, punchy songs, would like to hear more
Just goes on forever, thought the production quality was a bit poor
Fairly MOR stuff, didn't hate it but not much to distinguish it from a lot of other late 90s/early naughties guitar bands
Pleasant enough bleeps and bloops
Found this incredibly slow and ponderous, the last track is a proper slog and felt like the family guy Randy Newman parody
Gorgeous warm bath of an album
Not my favourite Kinks album but pleasant enough
Typically excellent stuff, really enjoyed three little birdies down beats
Really interesting with some great tracks, felt this could have been cut down a bit and been a real banger. Some 4 star tracks but 3 stars overall
Much less sure about this one felt it was a bit overlong and none of the tracks really stood out
Bit overlong but full of bangers
Pure bombast, seven songs in a row on the theme of Meatloaf being dtf right now
Interesting, some solid rock suns and some interesting baroque influences
Super chill, amazing that this was done in the 70s, left me feeling very relaxed
Prefer his later stuff but some nice tracks on here
Really enjoyed the last few tracks on this one
Another example of standout album from a genre i dislike
Not sure about this, found myself nodding along a few times but found some of it a bit too avant garde, would probably grow on me with a few more listens though
Beautiful voice, elevated the music quite a bit
Some timeless tracks on the first half, peters out a little
Got some classics and even the less known songs have some astonishing guitar
Some classic old school beats, not bad flow
Didn't really enjoy this, felt like a very minor entry from the 80's, nothing particularly exciting about any of it and found it a bit of a slog
Incredibly punchy, great driving drums, enjoyed it a surprising amount
Followed Minor Threat with this, enjoyed it, incredibly punchy
Great rhythm section, average guitar, drivel for vocals
Feels designed to trigger misophonia but I enjoyed it nontheless
Very uninspiring grunge rock
Very enjoyable, surprisingly adept musically and doesn't outstay its welcome
Not bad, though however good the lyrics are the only bit I'll really remember is shouting "Leonard Bernstein"
Liked breakdown and American Girl, some of it a bit average
Liked this one a lot, really good production and interesting songs
Short and punchy songs, some great memories but the second half drops off a lot
Enjoyed this a lot, Smokin' and Foreplay/Long Time my personal favourites
Some great tracks, a few too many skits for my taste
Unexpectedly loved this, incredible groove throughout, great production, will try and get this on lp
Somewhere between 3 and 4 on this
Enjoyed this but dont know why it's a must listen
Maybe not every single song needs a 4 minute outro
Very pleasant, slight country twang but a bit Alexi Murdoch
Thought this was lobby music at first but I warmed to it by the end
You can't have the Beatles, we've got the Byrds at home
Astonishing voice and some great songs
Fairly average thumb picking folk, sure there are better examples of this
Liked this a lot, worth a re-listen, gentle lo-fo beats, reminded me a little of monsters and men
Avant gard jazz punk, not sure about this one
Really like this, takes me back to uni
Enjoyed this, nineteen hundred and eighty four is a banger
Finally made me get the regard for Keith Moon
Faded into the background a bit
Incredible psychedelic side 1, track 2 in particular a banger, slightly less keen on side 2 but overall really liked this
Fun album, solid classic rock
Very nice, lofi chilled, quite synth wavy in places, title track is great
As always, I should theoretically love the smiths but they always leave me cold
Not the best Bowie album but still decent
Really enjoyed this, some great beats, track 3 felt a bit like early Sigur Ros
Some absolute classics of my youth
Found this fairly forgettable, quite drone-y guitars
Out of the gate fully formed, very pleasant piano throughout
Great stuff here, amazing voice and some superb blues riffs
Didn't mind this, interesting drums
Blimey, they don't fuck about. Enjoyed that a lot for punk
Didn't love those, bit whiny and dull, felt derivative of Jeff Buckley in some ways
Absolutely loved this, was tapping my foot throughout, will definitely check out more of his stuff
Incredible voice and some great songs
Really enjoyed this, weirdly the two most famous tracks (our house and teach your children) felt a bit out of place. Lot of good, full bodied rock songs, really enjoyed almost cut my hair and thought 4+20 was subtle and beautiful.
Grew on me by the end, interesting beats with a lot of world music influence, would listen again
Felt like being trapped in an av piece in a pretentious gallery
Liked this a lot, really cohesive album, enjoyed racing in the street a lot, would listen again
Fantastic title track and enjoyed can't sit down a lot, felt some of it wad a little muzaky
Enjoyed this, felt incredibly fidgety and most of the songs could have done with one or two less ideas but always interesting
Loved this, every single track a banger but with unique ideas throughout, space shanty a real banger
Didn't mind it, quite punky but with more complex melodies, can see why they were so popular
Enjoyed this a lot, great flow
Liked this a lot but preferred fat of the land. Poison and voodoo people both great, felt like the middle few tracks were the strongest
Jazzy and funky, not bad but some of the tracks go on a bit
Not unpleasant but a bit monotonous and faded into the background
The more i hear, Blur have a few great singles every album bit not enough here to justify the length
Liked this, a lot of interesting tracks, Hamady Boiro a funky stand out
Not bad, good driving guitar throughout and a great voice
Fascinating to hear more early stuff, such a tight band
Didn't love this one, felt like it was ripping off some other 80's bands and was pretty unessential
Liked this, interesting mix of rock and vague psychedelic elements
Great debut, crisp guitars and good production, really enjoyable
Way too long, disc 2 could have been an email. Did enjoy some of disc 1 though, felt like a fairly meat and potatoes approach to Garage, would be interested to hear more of the genre if it comes up
Very 80s, didn't mind it, nice lyrics and production
Even the weaker tracks on side 2 are great, would listen to any and all of this again quite happily
Quite twangy country, didn't love it
Enjoyed this, great ska groove, liked the James Bond track in particular
Beautiful voice and incredibly mellow groove throughout, would listen again
Enjoyed this, felt vital throughout, very full sound
Absolute chaos, hated it wildly at first but found myself tapping my foot a couple of times when they deign to play instruments. Giving this an extra star from my initial review but pretty sure it's because I developed some kind of Stockholm Syndrome by the end.
Really enjoyed this one, great tunes throughout
Great tracks and fantastic bass throughout, thought the singer was a little weak and faded into the background some of the time, really liked the album though
Did not get why this is here, incredibly generic country, some ok bluegrass twang to a couple of the tracks but overall very bland
Strong rock, almost felt like a parody at times but still enjoyable
Docking this a point for the girl is mine, some great singles though
Great, classic rock throughout, really enjoyed this one
Quite enjoyable, felt like being at a great lock in
This took me back, still an incredible album, amazing bass throughout, every track a banger
Better than I thought it might be, short and punchy
Had some ok tunes but a bit repetitive, felt some of the songs needed another element or two
Think I need to give this a second listen, a lot going on with some of these songs, really good production
Really enjoyed this one, felt slightly prog rock without being too overblown, will listen again
Feels like a real watershed album, had punk elements but also fair amounts of ska and reggae, felt like a lot of other bands would be influenced by it massively. Would be interested to see what comes after it in the UK music scene
Incredible voice, incredibly 80's especially 1984
Have reasonably fond memories of this but haven't listened to it in over 20 years which says a lot. Songs are pretty good, quite quirky and a lot of variety, has a lot of ska elements from early noughties albums.
One of the most influential albums of my life, still holds up
High quality background music, has a lot of repetitive melodies which are perfectly pleasant but doesn't build to anything much in most cases.
Such a big leap forward from Frank, songs much more interesting and feels more assured, sad we didn't get more from her
Love the first few tracks on this and though I enjoyed it all, felt it dropped off a bit as it went on though.
