Wat een fucking horror. Something Against You is gewoon herrie. Dit is geen muziek meer joh, gewoon rammen op een gitaar en een drumstel terwijl iemand in een microfoon schreeuwt. Gelukkig duurt dit album maar iets meer dan een half uur, maar in die tijd kun je beter iets anders doen. Where is my mind is een bekend nummer, maar geen goed nummer. Ik haat, echt haat, de zanger van deze band. Wat een fucking drama is dit. The Pixies? Een groot deel van de muziek klinkt als geluid vanuit dixies.
Just couldn’t get into it , indie rock has been changing my opinion of it throughout this journey but this one just didn’t move the needle for me , heard it a few times moving on
Last song and like one other song were decent, rest of it were bad. 1.5/5

Me deu dor de cabeça escutar isso. Album destinado para cracudos de los angeles da decada de 90. Bem abaixo da linha de mediocridade, nao é mid é algo pior que mid. Se esse album fosse uma pessoa ele seria uma albanesa que prostitui sua irma mais nova para servos. 2 musicas se salvam de 13(Fez o L?), a bateria é legal e tem algumas boas linhas de baixo. Fora isso eu desejaria ter tido um Smith & Weasson Numero 3 contra meu cranio e apertar o gatilho. Seria menos doloroso que escutar esse album. Tetas fartas/10
starting this ablum, im remembering that i dont love pixies, they have some bangers but the full on rock vibes arent great, skipped through a song or two at the beginning. not super my thing i cant lie, skipping through most of the songs fun bassline on gigantic from gigantic i am enjoying this album more, the music is slower paced and a bit more interesting, less "rockrock" and a bit more laid back. where is my mind? is an aboslute classic though, i cant fault this song, love playing it, love listening to it. i think theres a few songs in there, from gigantic to like tonys theme that are a bit more fun. had to stop the album early, skipping songs, not a fan but theres some goodies in there.

Not for me at all. Style of singing just did not do it for me, neither did the lyrics or just the vibe at all
Whoever decided on their levels should be smacked. But on the other hand a debut album is a debut album in all aspects.
If this album was trying to crawl it's way out of a sarlacc pit labeled "Excruciating", it's trying it's hardest but only can manage a hand up to the surface. Overall a terrible time listening, but there were a few seconds of decent music in here that were then taken over by the rest that is irredeemable.
Bad production, poor musicianship, whining vocals. Bad stuff.

Im really not into the Pixies. Somehow I find the album to noisy and unsynched. But that one track "Where is my mind?": Absolutly freaking brilliant!
Loud guitars and screaming is overrated.
- Bossanova hat mir doch deutlich besser gefallen - einzig "Where Is My Mind?" ist hängengeblieben, wobei man ich den Hit vorher schon kannte 1,5/5⭐

My third Pixies album ...still don't like their music.

First exposure to the Pixies outside of "Where is my mind" because of that one movie, and is in this album. Most tracks don't stand out to me. Only enjoying WIMM. 1*. When Spotify shuffled away from this album at the end and went to 12:51 by the Strokes I actually said "oh thank god, actual music"

These are all basically the same song. Trying way too hard to make an impression for being so very esoteric after jumping on the bandwagon 10 years too late. I looked up this band and they were exactly what I imagined.

Absolute garbage
De vorige keer was dit ook al niet om aan te horen. Een gemiddeld schoolbandje neemt vrijdagmiddag in de aula betere dingen op. Gelukkig sloeg Youtube de helft van de nummers over wegens 'mogelijk ongeschikt voor sommige gebruikers'. Het zal best een heeeel belangrijke rol in de muziekgeschiedenis hebben gespeeld, maar mogen wij dit lelijk vinden? Ja, dit mogen wij lelijk vinden.
Man...man...wat is dat valse gezang verschrikkelijk om naar te luisteren. En dan lijkt het nog wel met opzet vals. Ik ben blij als het album af en toe een break biedt. Met een dame in the lead bij Gigantic bijvoorbeeld of met het pop-achtige Where Is My Mind.
Schrecklich. Wirklich grauenhaft. Ich bin schlechten Gesang gewohnt, aber dieses Album ist nicht auszuhalten. Sehr, sehr, sehr schlecht.

Just no. This was noisy and amateurish and I had to stop listening halfway through the album because every song was making me physically recoil

God awful. Sounds like a junior high talent show gone wrong (do any of them ever go right??).
I didn’t realize “Where is My Mind” was by them, so that was a nice break in the chaos that is Surfer Rosa. My brows were furrowed trying to figure out most of it. It sounded a lot like some of early punk albums, unfinished and raw. All over the place. Wouldn’t listen to it again.
Didn't really like this album, too harsh for me. Might have also been because I was listening at 6 am
For how much this band is talked about importance-wise, I was not very impressed. Sound/vocals were harsh. Can't believe Where is My Mind was by far my favorite.
Breathtakingly awful. Shrill, tuneless and thoroughly unenjoyable. Among the worst albums I've heard on the 1001 list. I'm at sing six - "Where is My Mind" - and that's it. Don't even want to see if gets better. Do yourself a favour and hit the "Did not listen" button.
I'm seriously not a fan of whatever this is... punk? rock? alternative? I just couldn't tolerate the dissonance of the two singers, and all the screeching. It is too inharmonious for my taste.
Just terrible, the only song i like is the one from the fight club ost. Mostly just annoying like listening to drunk siblings do karoeke
