Classic rock album, some great tracks and some dodgy ones

I think I've figured out how to be myself after listening to this album.

Its an important album, in that it shows the transition of replacement after the death of a band member, in this case the singer Bon Scott. I had to re-listen to Highway to Hell to see how different the vocals are, interestingly they aren't that different. Black in Black and Hell's Bells are great tracks, classic hard rock. Love the energy and riffs, but some lyrics haven't dated that well.

all of these track titles are about SHACK. enjoyed this way more than I was expecting to. some absolute bangers on it from a genre that i generally don't get on with and the donging from the bells is a great start to an album. I'm a sucker for a nice fat bell.

ST. PAULI! ST. PAULI! ST. PAULI! ST. PAULI! Sorry I drifted off again there. Aside from the St. Pauli connection I have no strong feelings about AC/DC either way. If they just played the intro to Hell's Bells on loop for 40 minutes it would be a 5. As it is, it's a 3.

Entertaining album some good songs on the album and easy to listen to

I wish I wrote these songs. These guys had a sound and performance style all their own. This album is rock and roll. This album is a party, every track a rager. After reading about the death of the original lead singer, this is even more of an accomplishment! If not for the misogynistic trappings of 80s rock lyrics, this would be a five-star right here!

Pretty much a perfect hard rock album. I've been loving it since my older cousin gave me a copy on cassette in the early 80s.

Never been a huge AC/DC fan aside from a few big tunes. Same applies here, some great anthems but padded out with fairly generic rock.

What if Angus played guitar over different lyrics? Angus is awesome, the lyrics are terrible.

Definitive rock record

No one can accuse AC/DC of being too experimental. You just know them when you hear them. This is the album's biggest weakness. Every track is bristling with energy from the first second to the last, and every indivudual track is excellent. The title track and "You Shook Me All Night Long" are the obvious standouts. Iconic. 4.5/5

Back in Black is the soundtrack to my junior high. I loved this then and still do now.

Iconic album cover. The title track is, as the kids say, an all time banger. The whole thing is wall to wall sex-drenched rock and roll. A stunningly strong album, not even considering the circumstances. Not all the songs have aged that well -- I'm looking at you, Let Me Put My Love Into You and Money Honey and ... well, most of them, really -- but that's easy to overlook given how hard the entire album rocks. The pinnacle of its genre.

The album itself is decent, though I can't stand ACDC anymore. This review is based on what I remember of it, which is that it's boring hard rock songs about rock 'n roll and girls and sex and bullshit like that. Though the title track is pretty dope, I don't care about this band or most of their music. It gives me strong "dad music" vibes

It's AC/DC so you know it's gonna be good. That said, aside from the two bangers everyone knows--Back in Black and You Shook Me All Night Long--there's nothing else that stands out to me as particularly strong. AC/DC is definitely a singles band, not an album band in my mind. Three stars for the album as a whole, even though it has a couple of S-tier tracks. If the whole album was as good as Back in Black (my fave track) I'd give it five stars for sure. But it's not, I'm afraid.

An absolute cracker. Turn up to 11.

Yeah, this album still rocks. Bite me. Maybe, it's the roughly ten years since I've not heard these songs incessantly, unlike the previous 30 where you couldn't avoid them. Tremendous lead and rhythm guitar sound and riffs by the Young Brothers. No messing around with what these songs are about with titles like "Givin the Dog a Bone" and "Let Me Put My Love into You." Thanks O'Malley"s Pub in Champaign, Illinois, for etching each word of "You Shook Me All Night Long" into my head, along with " American Pie." I can't argue best AC/DC albums since " Highway to Hell" is the only other one I've heard more than once.

Side Two better then Side One. Back in Black, You Shook Me All Night Long and Rock n Roll Ain't Noise Pollution are the best tracks

This was actually very good. It is exactly what I was expecting and it was exactly what I wanted. There really is not a bad song on here.

I'm beyond tired of hearing the singles and I felt that the other songs were mostly fillers, but the truth is that I'm not a fan at all. 40 minutes of AC/DC is just way more than I can take. Maybe one day I'll become some 55 years old dude having fights in dive bars and then I'll change my mind about them.

Probably the best album to define rock at its pure form. I do not get any pleasure listening to it anymore, but I'm still going to give it the 5 stars it deserves.

It is a huge rock classic, but not a timeless one. This album has had its day of glory, but I think it's time to let it go into the "has been" folder and move on. I give it 3 stars because I must admit that there are insane radio hits in that record.

Oh man. I remember running to my turntable on rockin the rest of the day. The 1st note grabbed me and never let go.

I had just recently finished giving my required “Tribute Speech” in sophomore speech class when I learned a new AC-DC album was being released. Most of my classmate’s subject matters had been either pontifications about dead grandparents, fallen leaders or pets - and a couple on Jesus Christ - my accolades were focused on Bon Scott. (Got an A - the instructor must have sensed my sincerity). The thought of a new AC-DC album exited and terrified me, because at that point in my life there was nothing as musically relevant as that band. This could be good, but deep down I thought it was more likely to end in disappointment - a stain on the legacy of my touchstone band. I was early to the Northland Mall that day to be first in line at Musicland to buy the LP. Mildly surprised that I was the only one there. Wow. It’s all black. This seems badass, but also out of character. Where are the horns? the fire? the lightening? It didn’t matter. Raced home to drop the needle on my older brother’s stereo. 40+ minutes later I was thunderstruck as this was probably the best AC-DC album ever. Best album ever. Angus, the boys and the new guy had the songs and the chemistry. I probably played the album eight or ten times through without listening to anything else over the next couple of days, and then back to Musicland to get the 8-track version for the car. Every song is a winner. Pinnacle of AC- DCs sex, drink, power, rock-n-roll formula. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ More please.

Ya gotta give a 5. ACDC is easy to tease now, but Bon Scott era ruled, and being able to come back after his death swinging with your best album of all time is legendary.

Start to finish fun - it’s a party album albeit tinged with mild schoolboy misogyny. but that riff from the title track oooof what a punch in your beer gut - never fails to make you want to rock out. It’s compact and kicking. Like the AC/DC rhythm section

One of my favorite quotes is Angus Young saying “ I'm sick to death of people saying we've made 11 albums that sounds exactly the same, Infact, we've made 12 albums that sound exactly the same.” And hey, if your dumb horny rock n’ roll music ain’t broke, I certainly agree you shouldn’t fix it.

Massive album in the 80s - still great of course - one of these albums where practically every track could be a single.

Every now and again I like to rock out on a couple of catchy AC/DC songs, but an entire album? No, thanks.

As noted in my review of Highway to Hell, I'm not an AC/DC fan, but they aren't as terrible as their contemporaries despite being one of the forebearers of hair metal. For the longest time, I was dismissive of Brian Johnson, and while I'm not overall a fan of his voice, I think this is a better album than Highway to Hell. It plays like a greatest hits album, and while I don't like all of these songs, Hells Bells is one of the better AC/DC songs, so it gets some credit for that. This album is gross and dumb, but I don't hate it. I would never put it on of my own volition, and I don't think it should be on this list, but I don't hate it.

Stvarno sve kužim, dobri su i jasno mi je zašto u shopping centru njihove majice i zašto ih vole boomeri i neki naših godina i mlađi, al nikako za mene i to je to. Da se vokal izbaci ne bih imao problema s njima.

From the ashes rises the phoenix. When you lose a frontman like Bon Scott that had such a distinct sound and presence, it seems impossible that ANY band would be able to carry on. ACDC is the obvious exception. The iconic bells opening the album are iconic, symbolizing both a funeral and and inauguration of amazing frontmen. The lyrics of many of these songs are the best ever written by the band, embracing the transition. Every track is HIT after HIT after HIT. Album that has been acclaimed by both critics and the masses. 5 star review.

I wasn't sure if I had listened to this album in full before. Most I already knew, because they are huge hits, but some I hadn't. "Rock & Roll Ain't Noise Pollution" is a great choice to end the album. There's so much strong guitar work here, some really memorable lyrics and melodies. No surprise it's on this list!

I was REALLY into this album and band as a teenager. I think I wore myself out on AC/DC, as I have not really listened to them or this album much in the last decade or so. That said, this has reminded me that this album rocks from start to finish -- there isn't a single skip for me. I'm really excited to be listening to it again.

I thoroughly enjoyed this album. Although I'm not really a fan of hard rock / heavy metal, AC/DC is one of the few bands I do like to listen to from time to time. It has classics (like Back In Black and You Shook Me All Night Long) and some more underrated tracks too that were really good.

I heard hair metal in this outing, and, unlikely as that is to make me friends, it made me like Back in Black. The tunes are straightforward, but there are the bells in the opener, a few novel arrangements, and some skilled guitar work. I'd happily listen to the hits again, as well as the deeper cuts.

A monster of a rock album.

the kind of rock music that I love the least. Around the same time, the best rock music ever was created by the talking heads, joy division, the cure and so many great rock bands, that I don't understand why this boring band got any attention.

Relentless is a good word for this album. While slightly repetitive, it's filled with head thrashing bangers that anyone could get behind.

AC/DC are like Motorhead, in that they keep making the same album over and over again. Normally I have a strong preference for Motorhead and AC/DC leaves me cold, but this play through actually really worked for me. Maybe it's getting more exposure to it? Fave track - "Back in Black", for sure. "You Shook Me All Night Long" also has some fondness, as it's a good karaoke tune...

This is the second best selling album of all time. I wonder how many of the top 10 best selling albums I actually like? I don't like this one.

Despite all my efforts to avoid this LP over the years, many of the songs have ended up etched into my brain against my will. This is music for the masses to be played at football games generation(s) later. You just need to read the song titles to get a sense of how unoriginal the music is going to be.

This just gives me bad memories from High School, especially Brian Johnson’s voice. Eg the intro to Hell’s Bells is alright, especially at a Basketball game, but when he starts singing I just have to shut it down. Sheesh.

I didn't finish it. But I've heard it all before.

It boggles my mind how insanely popular this album is. It just goes to show you how simple-minded a large portion of the population is. Here's the AC/DC formula: Find a common phrase. Either use it as is (e.g. Back in Black) or even better if we can make a slight alteration to turn it into something with sexual connotations (e.g. Shoot to Thrill) or best yet find one that can be a double entendre (e.g. Givin the Dog a Bone). Then write some simplistic lyrics to go with the phrase - a couple of verses and a chorus is all you need. Then find some basic power chord riff that is catchy (this is the part that requires some talent and the only reason I'm giving this more than one star). Now shriek the lyrics on top of the power chords, and there you go! Eat it up and give us your money, simpletons! 2 stars.

A bit one-note, but the one thing this album does it does well. I did before and still will love the intro to Hell's Bells. That's probably my favorite song on here. My other favorite is probably Shoot to Thrill. I also enjoyed Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution, and You Shook Me All Night Long and Back in Black are good when they aren't overplayed.

A rock classic. Sleazy sexual innuendo, driving drums and MONSTROUS RIFFS. One of rock's greatest albums.

Kinda got a little tired of this style, but still a good classic

'Back In Black' (album) uniquely captures the rock and roll spirit, dexterously finding the middle ground between branching off and staying true to its roots. Brian Johnson's display of serious pipes lay the groundwork for the energetic backdrop, with traditional AC/DC riffs and drum patterns reminding listeners why a number of tracks on this record are classics-worthy. Dynamic execution of a blazing guitar solo in 'Let Me Put My Love Into You' and a well-arranged title track are only enhanced by crisp production especially for a rock album - an immensely fulfilling listen.

I would give it 10 out of 5 if I could - what can I say I love them and Angus Young is a god. B in B is probably my most listened to album of all times. Right before Metalica's Black Album and Iron Maidens Number of the Beast. To me it's the greatest.

Great collection of AC/DC tunes, this album was a hit machine with only a couple of songs that I don't think made their way to the radio or pop culture in some form. Big return to form after the death of their first singer.

‘shoot to thrill’- hyper-masculine lyrics. Unpleasant to modern sensibilities. ‘What do you do for Money’- once you hear the misogyny, you can’t escape it. ‘givin the dog a bone’ is the icing on the cake. I didn’t listen to any more of this. How, even from a musical point of view, can this be considered one of the best albums of the past sixty years? How can the lyrics be extricated from the musicality? Ugh.

88. Back in Black - AC/DC 10 tracks. This started great and just got better. I hated them in my younger days but this is bang on the money, (honey!). There's far more subtlety in here than I expected. It's not all "noise pollution". I love this. Sign of the horns 5/5

5.0 - A true beast of an album, this one plays like a greatest hits compilation. Somehow the songs remain fresh for me (with the exception of "You Shook Me...") despite being mainstays on rock radio.

This was another childhood album of mine and it's hard to take off nostalgia goggles for it. I've listened to every song so much I don't think I can judge it from a fresh perspective. With that being said I still find it very enjoyable to listen to and there are no skips.

Small doses. They're fun, but... small doses.

AC/DC are like C average students in the school of rock to me. They understand the assignment well enough to pass but that's about it. I mean, yeah, it's rock and roll and all, their formula works, but I just can't take it seriously. I guess that's not the point, right? Should I just lighten up? The last song on the album says it all: "Rock and Roll is just Rock and Roll" Saying your favorite band was AC/DC to me would be like saying your favorite restaurant was McDonald's. They both make a very reliable product but I absolutely guarantee you can find something 10 times better and more interesting elsewhere.

Hard to rate this one, in terms of enjoyment it's a 3. Not my style of rock, but objectively it's a 4 or 5, so I'll split the difference at 4. An album full of bangers and likely the template for a lot of heavy metal/rock albums to date. Lots of the songs are so ingrained in my American psyche I can't separate them from various movies, bars, and various people I've ran into.

All together now... DUN! DA-DA-DUN! DA-DA-DUN! Nanana-NOWWW-na-na DUN! It's rock's native language: an instantly recognisable riff, destined to be mimicked by guitarists of all levels everywhere. For better and worse, "Back in Black" paints an instant picture of where rock was at in 1980: filling arenas, bred on excess, bridging into metal, dripping with sex and posturing. In amongst the dozen or so rehashings of the same riffs that have defined AC/DC's career, there are some stunning musical moments and instant classics. The slow build that kicks the album off is genuinely powerful, gradually shifting from a single tolling bell into the ominous riff and steady beat leading "Hells Bells." On the more immediate end of the scale, "Shoot to Thrill" is an adrenaline thrill ride, boasting an addictive chorus and an excellent coda. The same goes for the stand-out "You Shook Me All Night Long", with a ready-made floor filler chorus sounding like a throwback to early 70s glam-rock. I was fascinated (but not all that surprised) to read that the band initially approached Slade's Noddy Holder in the wake of Bon Scott's death- a bizarre alternate reality, but one where he would have certainly risen to the occasion for this track. Brian Johnson fits straight into the band like a glove, perfectly selling their with a voice that manages to be gruff, strangled, screamy... and still find a way to the "melodies" in the songs. But his vocals and the constant bludgeoning of heavy riffs from a Rockschool guitar grade book won't be to everyone's taste, and they aren't completely to mine. Singles aside, many of these songs are distinctly mediocre, deploying the same chugging, mid-tempo, three chord rhythms and tired sexual metaphors. "Givin' the Dog a Bone", "Let Me Put My Love Into You", "Have a Drink on Me"... they're the most tedious kinds of rockstar hedonism. It's plain to see the kind of material Spinal Tap would later lampoon, and even they had a little more nuance than this. Rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young often stated that AC/DC's lyrics are not meant for scrutiny: they were never thought about too much, because they were destined to play second fiddle to the power of the music. This statement is fine in itself and could excuse some of the record's more banal songwriting, but the implication of the music being of great thought and complexity goes against the spirit of this whole record. "Back in Black" is chock-full of three-chord songs, sledgehammer riffs and a pocketful of power-chords. It's as if they learnt a few chords and ran with it, and it's precisely this simplicity that helps it to stick. AC/DC have never strayed from this formula, and of course, Angus Young's lead guitar is accomplished and impressive, their showmanship undeniable. It all comes down to opinion on what makes great songwriting: is AC/DC's unadorned approach lazy or liberating? Doing a lot with a little or just being a lot of a little? For the title track and many of the other songs here, its their simplicity that makes them work so well. They jam themselves into the most prudish of minds, refusing to let go. It's bread and butter hard rock and one generations of rockers will keep going back to. I can appreciate that, even if not all of it is to my taste. As great as a handful of these songs are, personal preference puts this just below a 4* listen: the gulf between the singles and album tracks is not surpassable. Nevertheless, it's made me want to pick up a guitar, crank up the distortion and- just like that- become a rockstar.

Better album than highway to hell but still, man this is just not for me.

I remember getting this CD in high school (my second AC/DC CD after Dirty Deeds) likely from Columbian House. It’s a fantastic album and even though AC/DC aren’t in as high rotation anymore for me (nothing personal) it’s still such a cool story than Brian was able to swing in and make the band his own so quickly after Bon Scott’s death. Bon died in February, Brian got the job in March and this was released in July. That’s wild, especially considering there’s hardly a bad song on the album. You Shook Me All Night Long is fantastic because the melody and production helped it become a huge crossover it. It’s near perfect. Fave tracks: “Shoot to Thrill” “You Shook Me All Night Long” “Given the Dog a Bone” “rock and roll ain’t noise pollution”

Loads of energy, loads of charisma, some questionable lyrics, but an overall a solid album with some iconic hits

It's weird to do three 5-stars in a row but come ON.

This is the type of album for those who are here for a good time, not a long time. AC/DC's first release of the Brian Johnson-era could not have been more appropriate and honoring to the legacy of Bon Scott. Their similarities in vocal style makes them nearly indistinguishable at times, but we do hear the differences at first, but what AC/DC managed to do here is to maintain familiarity of their vocal style with Brian Johnson. You know the singers are different, but the sound is familiar and their energy is preserved. As history would suggest, AC/DC was able to continually raise their profile and become one of the most celebrated rock bands in music history. Title track "Back in Black" is a fine example where Bon and Brian are virtually indistinguishable during the chorus, but we can hear less of Bon's raspiness during the verses. This would be the theme as we pay attention to such detail, but AC/DC was never Bon Scott and it has never been Brian Johnson, it has always been about their sound, and the men behind it. We salute those men who have done more than their fair share of rock.

About 8 of these 10 songs could have carried an entire career. So much swagger, absolutely unique sound.

This is one on which I happily clicked "Play" to listen all the way through even though I already know the whole thing. I could write far too much here because I'm a fan of the band and this album, so I'll try to rein it in here. In a genre (hard rock/heavy metal) in which bands can too easily devolve into unintended self-parody, AC/DC always managed to avoid that and play what I always hear as just really fun rock. And this album is absolutely super-fun! They somehow play hard-driving rock that's danceable and upbeat without being syrupy or saccharine. Not sure many bands can pull that off. Plus, from the interviews I've seen and the stories I've heard, this band is full of truly nice people. Angus Young's genuine humility and decency always seem apparent to me whenever I hear him chatting. It's great. It's really cool to see my son in his early teens, and a few of his peers, discover and love this band and this album too.

Parto dall'ultima traccia, Rock N Roll ain't noise pollution, na figata di pezzo, rock semplice, non raffinato, ma incisivo, senza patina, e la voce convince di più, un pezzo meno alla Bossi, meno a "cazzo duro".

A rock 'n roll classic packed full of hits. Hits that have been overplayed on the radio, in movies, in stadiums, in bars...

I really like AC/DC, so this album was great for me. I feel like AC/DC is quintessential fun rock. Not the most technical band out there. Just great to listen to.

Well this particular trip back to my embarrassing middle school "classic dad rock is the only good music" phase was actually definitely worth it. This album has actually continued to age particularly well. Hells Bells, Back in Black and You Shook Me All Night Long are great. Shoot to Thrill is the real sleeper hit that really only got the recognition it deserved in the gratuitously gratuitous movie "Shoot em Up".

Absolutely kicks ass

Whereas I get sick of Aerosmith's "middle school boy music" aesthetic, I still cannot get enough of it when AC/DC does it. Maybe they're just better at it. Maybe they're the real thing when Aerosmith is just poseurs. I don't know. What I do know is that every single one of these songs is a stone cold rock classic. Just listening to one of these is guaranteed to get you an STD. Hail Satan, and rock on AC/DC.

One of my favourite albums of all time - AC/DC and beyond.

Oh, apparently it's metal week for me! After reviewing British Steel yesterday, I guess it's wholly appropriate that I get to do Back in Black, the other powerhouse early 80s hard rock album that everyone should listen to. Back in Black certainly lives in the same neighborhood as music we would classify as metal, but maybe down a house or two. Metal fans love AC/DC. AC/DC is also probably the gateway drug into the metal genre for most non-metal fans. But really, AC/DC is still a rock and roll band, a good old fashioned dirty blues and rock band that just happens to rock really hard. I mean really, really hard. This band shares commonalities with bands like the Stones as well as bands like Judas Priest. This makes them a better band than most metal bands. They have a very specific sound and they're really good at it. As a side note, I like that Rob Halford credits a tour with AC/DC as an influence on some of the songs on British Steel. Music doesn’t exist in a vacuum. What can I say about this album except that it’s pretty perfect. From the first toll of the bell, you know you’re in for something special, and AC/DC really delivers. This gets said a lot, but it’s really rare for a band to recover after the loss of a beloved core member like Bon Scott. Not only did AC/DC recover, but they sharpened their sound and became even more successful. It’s a singular event in music, kicked off with this album right here. It’s a swaggering, exuberant masterpiece. The band found a dream singer in Brian Johnson, who was able to step in and embrace the band’s sound, but also to make his own mark as a singer. They also found a masterful producer in Mutt Lange, who really helped the band to hone their sound. The great hooks were always kind of there in AC/DC’s music, but they went next level here and produced some incredibly catchy rockers for the ages. “You Shook Me All Night Long” is one of the best songs ever recorded, something people will be listening to with wonder 50 years from now. But make no mistake, the darkness and the edge are still there. The broody sense of foreboding in “Hell’s Bells” is fantastic and is an undercurrent that weaves through the whole album. It foregrounds the dark space the band (and their fans) had been occupying and helps to balance the high energy party vibe of songs like “You Shook Me All Night Long” and “Have a Drink on Me.” Musically, the band is on fire here. They’re a completely tight ship of a band. Beautiful riffs across the board from Angus and Malcolm Young, augmented with Angus' delightful solos. There’s a reason his name comes up in an any serious discussion of guitar players. Cliff Williams and Phil Rudd set the pace and hold the whole thing together while the band just burns through it. The songs are crisp and efficient, not an extraneous note or unnecessary solo to be found. I’ll also add, this album is beyond fun to listen to. The sound is powerful, but the band never loses that schoolboy energy. What’s more, Black in Black has got a groove to it. Try to sit still in a chair and listen to this album. You can’t do it! I don't even need to listen to this album to write a review but I will anyway. Even the songs that I don't actively look to listen to were awesome. This is a classic rock album at its core. Hells Bells, Shoot to Thrill, Back in Black, and You Shook Me All Night Long were my favs. Perfect album cover as well. It's hard to top something like this so perfect start to the week.

Another AC/DC album, and easily another classic. The second best-selling album of all time, right behind Thriller. Just like Highway to Hell, this one holds a lot of memories for me. I used to listen to this as a kid quite a bit. I could get away with saying "hell" in Hell's Bells. I've always been obsessed with the opening of the title track, but who isn't? I think overall I prefer Highway to Hell, but the hits on this one run deep as well. Imagine being AC/DC, losing your lead singer, and then coming back a year later with an album that rocks just as hard, if not harder, than anything you've made. This one's special. There's so much energy and heat here, and so many of the tracks are very horny, it almost seems like parody. But damn, they really did this. I can't say anything bad about this, I just love it. Favorite tracks: Back in Black, You Shook Me All Night Long, Hell's Bells, Let Me Put My Love Into You, Shoot to Thrill. Album art: Just enough. Barely more than a plain black cover, but the stenciled text is a great touch. I guess this is as funereal as a heavy metal rock band can afford to be. 5/5

Powerful driving rhythms, Johnson voice unique. Not usually my genre, but I have a soft spot for this album. Saw them alongside the Who, Stranglers, Nils Lofgren at old Wembley Stadium in 1980

Ghost should cover "Hells Bells" how awesome would that be... Shoot To Thrill is also a perfect cheesedick rock song. Cheesedick rock was a genre that was so well represented for so long that it's weird that it's mostly extinct nowadays. Anyway, this is a great album that is always fun to listen to. I can't think of a better encapsulation of the merits of cheesedick rock.

I was well in to this about 15 years ago and it popped in to my head a good few times when I was putting together my 101. All I can say is I'm glad it didn't make the cut. I do not enjoy it as much anymore. Oh yeah they are having a lot of fun and more power to them for writing the guitar riff to back in black. An absolute masterpiece that. But the rest of it is pretty drossy.

Big dumb fun from grown adults who dress as schoolboys and almost exclusively want to rock. That is their mission statement, and it’s mission accomplished. I’m deducting a star (possibly two - if it had caught me in the right mood) for the troublingly predatory lyrics to Let Me Put My Love Into You.

Proof that Black Sabbath served a purpose. This mob learnt from their shortcomings, at least. Too serious? Um, they're wearing school uniform. Failure to deliver on their image? Not possible, the songs are literally *about* rocking very hard. Bypassed lyrics on the highway to riffs? Nope. This is pure poetry: "Back in the back / Of a Cadillac / Number one with a bullet, I'm a power pack / Yes, I'm in a bang / With a gang / They've got to catch me if they want me to hang." Too basic? I mean, the aim is to wipe their grubby heinies in your sour moosh and that's exactly what they do. In short, I had a blast because I was getting ready for a wedding and wanted to get pumped up. This did the trick. Is it a three? It was then so it is now.

This album is perfection, it really gets me going, I love it. There isn't a bad song, all bangerz. Great guitar, such a great voice, I love the simplicity of the lyrics, it's not poetry but it's amazing fun. ACDC? More like AC-Inredible-DC.

Tout simplement parce que je voyais arriver le jour arriver où j'allais donner mon troisième 5 à Adèle et où on allait me traiter de fragile qui écoute seulement des filles qui pleurent en chantant. Alors voilà, un bon gros 5 pour Back In Black, un album bien viril, fait pour les hommes qui ont des clébards sales. Qu'est-ce que vous allez pouvoir dire maintenant ?

Depuis que j'ai écouté cet album, je suis devenu tout bonnement insupportable dans l'open space, hurlant à l'oreille de mon collaborateur de me transmettre le dernier fichier en vogue, braillant en plein milieu d'une réunion que le café est de toute façon dégueulasse, criant à qui veut bien l'entendre que oui, le studio d'AC/DC est localisé rue du café des délices.

Stone cold banger

This is how a hard rock record should sound. The songs are great - nothing particularly ground-breaking or avant-garde, but amazing riffs, fantastic to sing along to, and definitely elicits an emotional response (especially when turned up loud). Some questionable lyrics, but they never took themselves too seriously and I don't think they expected the audience to either. In terms of overall sound, it's clear to see why this album is held up as one of the pinnacles of hard rock production. Solid rhythm section, and the guitars all sound incredible. The sound of a Gibson into a Marshall and turned up loud can't be beaten. Guitar solos suit the music perfectly, as do Brian Johnson's vocals. Makes me want to go grab my guitar and turn it up loud.

Probably the most macho album ever, without ever being offensive. When aliens come down and ask about rock n roll, this will be the first album humans will play them.

I've never listened to the whole album before.

Che gli AC/DC abbiano un sound unico e riconoscibile, è vero, ma in parte perché usano sempre la stessa formula. Infatti a un certo punto si accollano. Ciò nonostante, sono molto legato a questo album per diversi motivi e a distanza di 20 anni dal primo ascolto (su vinile), ricordo ancora il fomento nel sentire la campana di Hells Bells che va in levare quando attacca la chitarra (tanto che ascoltavo in loop solo l'intro). All'epoca, per me queste erano chicche. Ma a dirla tutta, oggi ho dovuto skippare diverse tracce perché non ce la facevo più (anche perché già lo conoscevo). P.S. I testi sono stupendi! Di getto darei un 2, ma aggiungo un +1 per il potere evocativo dell'intro di Hells Bells.

AC/DC's iconic roaring sound is exactly the throwback I needed. I stg Brian Johnson's vocals defined an era of movie soundtracks. I honestly don't have a seasoned enough ear to be able to meaningfully discern the characteristics of each track, so they all just felt like additional servings of the same thing (which is a good thing). Shoot to Thrill: Questo è il classico pezzo AC/DC e temo che il 3/4 del disco saranno praticamente sto pezzo perché Angus Young sa solo sto giro de accordi. What Do You Do For Money: Vedi sopra, però l'assolo era carino. Let Me Put My Love Into You: Delicatissimo! Back In Black: Vabbè c'ha comunque il suo fascino anche se trash. Una cosa che non avevo mai notato è il fatto che a un certo punto il batterista fa cassa e rullante insieme, come minimo inusuale! (e suona prevedibilmente male) In Conclusione: Devo esse onesto, ero super prevenuto e pronto a dare 1, però m'ha divertito. E' vero che è degli anni '80 però tutto sommato anche se la formula è sempre la stessa funziona molto mejo di altri. Gli assoli so molto musicali e non troppo prolissi, so comunque forse la parte più interessante da sentire nella maggior parte dei pezzi. So tutti molto orecchiabili e leggeri e con sta vena un po' trash. Un'altra cosa che m'ha colpito è che me piace davvero molto la produzione, forse giusto la batteria non me convince ma considerando che erano gli anni ottanta direi che troppo bene è andata. Secondo me la voce rimane decisamente la cosa peggiore degli AC/DC. Comunque divertente, cioè magari c'è una giornata in cui te lo risentiresti, una in cui te senti un po' rock cazzone Jack Black style.

Questa musica non è il mio genere e quindi praticamente non conoscevo il disco ma mi sono divertito probabilmente anche perchè mi fa pensare a Jack Black. Non capisco perchè gli ascoltatori del rock si prendono così sul serio, questa musica è una baracconata gigantesca ed è anche il suo unico fascino.

по хорошему надо бы конечно въебать этой группе одной песни тройбан и отпустить с миром, но че-то вчера по дороге домой включил и такое настроение балдёжное стало внезапно. Всё-таки есть у ацдц (по крайней мере в этом альбоме) свой шарм и своя безудержная энергия, хейтить которую не получается. Ну как можно злиться на человека, который с таким восторгом орёт про адские колокола. Да и вокал, на самом деле, весьма уникален, пусть и партии не самые разнообразные от песни к песне. Поэтому бог с ним, семёра заслуженная, без подобных альбомов было бы куда скучнее жить

Считаю ли я AC/DC переоценёнными? Скорее да. Пилили ли они при этом достойное музло? Скорее да. Если бы группа не была главной иконой хард-рока в массовом сознании, если бы какие-то школьницы на Первом канале не пели "Highway to School", если бы на футболке Батхеда красовался другой логотип, если бы Back In Black не стояла годами у отца на звонке... я бы, вероятно, воспринимал их музыку с большим удовлетворением. Но я же у мамки разумист, умею абстрагироваться. Так вот, если отбросить всякие предрассудки, то альбом то... кайфовый. Прям ну балдёж же. Конечно, балдёж балдежу рознь, дискографию гонять часами дома желания никакого нет. Но, например, для бега на плеер кинуть - вполне неплохая идея. Да и между делом услышать не прочь. Если только не на звонке в течении долгих лет. Отличное музло, лаконичные и запоминающиеся гитарные партии, яркий вокал, атмосфера "Е-е-е... ро-о-ок!" Да и то, при каких условиях альбом был записан, внушает увожение. На самом деле лучшим треком ныне кажется You Shook Me All Night Long, ранее его как-то не выделял, особенно на фоне вездесущей заглавной темы. Вступительный трек эпичную атмосферу задаёт, что даже некоторое разнообразие вносит в доминантную разгильдяйскую эстетику. Главную проблему AC/DC вижу именно в недостатке разнообразия, слишком узком выборе эстетики и отсутствии выраженного развития на протяжении карьеры чтоль. Но если альбом рассматривать отдельно от всего этого, он ж пиздатый.

I did not expect to like this album as much as I did listening to it again. Really just kind of the next step after Led Zeppelin. A bit more obviously horny but just killer guitar tone and driving drums and bass.

Great album from this totally ‘balls to the wall’ Aussie rock group. It’s heavy but it’s not metal as many people often categorise their music to be. They rely on the trusted and true technique of playing the blues fast with accompanying power chords and saturated in full blown Marshall distortion. These guys are the masters of this genre and this album is one of their best examples. Every track is almost as good as any other, including released singles...that in itself is a rarity. While I actually favour AC/DC with their former and original frontman Bon Scott, there is no doubting the genuine quality of these tracks. The album definitely deserves to be rated a classic. Turn it up to 11!! 4 Stars!

funky catchy rock anthems

I'm willing to overlook Brian Johnson's vocals due to the Young brother's ability to put on a blues-based hard rock clinic. Have a Drink on Me is my favorite AC/DC song, and there's several other classics here as well. Brian's voice does grate though after a while; he's best enjoyed in small doses.

Creo que nunca me he dado oportunidad de escuchar un disco de AC/DC porque sinceramente varios weyes que ubico como fans de esta banda como que me cagan. jajaja, y pues al final no sé si fue mi prejuicio con el sonido del vocalista o mi prejuicio general, pero no me gustó. Me aturde esa voz, las guitarras están bien y todo, riffs famosos que supongo tuvieron mucha influencia en el rock y hasta metal, pero pues no lo volvería a escuchar. Me gustó la canción con la que abre con un toque dramatícon y Have drink on me porque tiene un final pesadito. Mención especial a Let me put my love into you que está muy cagada. Mood: Gente que en mi imaginario hollywoodiano era lo que escuchaba la gente en motos.

“Back in Black” by AC/DC (1980) I bought this album when it first came out, because my students (at a private Christian high school) had expressed alarm that if you play it backwards there were discernible messages from Satan. This was in the heyday of the evangelical Christian “backmasking” conspiracy theory. Anyway, I played parts of it in class (forward and backward), demonstrating that what they had been told to listen for (repeated references to “666”, etc.) were actually just cymbals and other sounds that only coincidentally sounded like words. Some of them remained unconvinced, and thus I learned a valuable lesson about religious fundamentalism: People will believe the craziest shit under the right conditions. But the music on this album is very good. Brian Johnson has a voice that seems to do violence to both his throat and the listener’s ears. But it is a very disciplined violence, with excellent range, diction, and breath control, and that makes it musically attractive. The guitar work of the Young brothers displays a particular virtuosity, especially for the time. Clearly one of the standout heavy metal guitar duos. Listen carefully for Angus Young’s deftly executed ‘quick bends’ on individual notes in the scales of his lead riffs. Exquisite. The rhythm section is exceptionally tight and steady, with enough variety to keep it interesting. The lyrics, on the other hand, are simply unconnected expressions of misguided manliness, angry arrogance, and cultural chaos. Even lyricist Brian Johnson is reported as having described the lyrics on the title track “Back in Black” as nonsense. And Johnson’s lyrics on “Hell’s Bells” are an unconvincing paean to evil. Consider the line “'Cause if good's on the left, then I'm sticking to the right”. Brian, if you’ve ever had children (and he did), then we all know you’re full of shit. What holds these lyrics together are the standard heavy metal themes of unrestrained individuality, untempered judgmentalism and the irresponsible abuse of what little they know. It’s not art. Ça rend de bonne humeur et ça se danse Je l’évite Shake a leg moyenne elle Je lévite, hells bells wow, shoot to thrill!! Rock n roll aint noise pollution

Bunch of popular songs on here. They're good and I like their catalog but just in general it's just constant screaming and the songs often sound the same. 8/10.

I don’t think I’ve ever listened to a whole AC/DC album before so this was fun. This album, well, rocks! Stand out tracks: Shoot to Thrill, Let Me Put My Love in You and, of course, Back in Black and Hells Bells! HB might be one of the best rock album openers ever.

Best AC/DC album in my opinion

Le tengo envidia a la gente que detecta todas las sutilezas entre las bandas más conocidas de hard rock y metal, así como lástima a aquellas personas que piensan que solamente estos géneros son "música de verdad". A diferencia de Deep Purple o Iron Maiden que ha salido, no pude extraer de aquí alguna canción favorita y (re)confirmo que estos géneros no son para mí. 6/10.

Probably the AC/DC album with more hits?

Probably one of if not the greatest pure rock n roll albums of all time. The energy in it is still alive after 40 years. This album is a rock masterpiece and it changed my life.
