Dog shit
top tier Neil for me
some of their best on here, but more of their worst
would def come back to this
whoppers top to bottom
reminds me of Steely Dan, but doesn't hit those highs. Not necessarily my sort of jazz
some really great ideas and melodies, but too long me thinks
Was really ready to love this (especially as they are Uni of Hull alumni, represent!) but all kind of blended together for me
Really wanted to click with this more, given the huge praise this gets from Johnny Greenwood and how influential they are on Radiohead. Maybe it will after a few more listens. 5 stars for the artwork though
very consistent
Wasn't a big fan of the slots but some really great Dilla production. Slightly too long, if it was 10-12 tracks I would see myself coming back to this a lot
not the best album of theirs, but very consistent and atmospheric
Phenomenal return to form final album. 4.5 if I could
loved a few tracks, but felt a bit too long and didn't connect with much of the middle section
didn't do a lot for me, clear to hear the influence on later REM records but the song-writing didn't pull me in
Landmark hip hip record for it's production and use of samples but can't help but feel it's not dated well
some absolute belters in here (wrong vibe for 9am Monday morning in the office) but was about 30 minutes too long and a lot of the tracks didn't click with me. Would return to some of the singles
Highs were really high, lows were quite forgettable. 3.5 if I could, just didn't grasp me enough to get to 4. A Sailor's Life & Who Know's Where the Time Goes both so so good
Dog shit
Fun album. Love short, precise records like this. Would come back to this
Masterpiece
god bless Jack White
Amazing, cohesive, powerful record
Nice ideas throughout but overall quite forgettable
Fantastic start to finish. Few songs that didn't grip me as much to warrant a 5 but great record!
some lovely ideas but some song structures felt dated.
This album is so good! Every track feels necessary, what a banger start to finish
loved this, had only heard Go before diving into this record! Dilla & K*nye production is no joke.
interesting as a historical piece, but would never choose to listen to this
quality slightly dips near the end of the record for me, but this is so close to being 5 stars. a big whopping 4.5. 'I Know What I Know' one of the greatest songs of all time
first half is so strong, second half stalls a bit. The highs are so good though, some of his best solo tracks. The first four tracks are a heavenly run
really great album, 3.5 stars. Despite not knowing many of these songs, it felt like a really consistent album
blew my head off. Absolutely loved this, and had never heard it before. Big 5 fat ones
sounds quite dated, but some serious bangers
not that into. Some tracks sounded like Mark Hollis singing Elton John covers
