“Let’s make a solid album with some nice sounding guitar, some solid bass lines, and then in each song let’s just also add nails on a chalkboard, but make that part louder and consistent through the entire track.”

Man, this is a tough one. I had to unblock his music for this. A very strong performance from a very unwell and bad person. Do you separate art from artist? It’s like rating a Chris Benoit match.
No, I can’t. What would be a 4 star album (the Chris Rock skit is too long) gets a 2. Power is my favorite song

Thought this album was gonna be great until the singing started. Album feels like something college kids would lie to themselves about and say they liked it so everyone around them knew they don’t listen to “popular” music.
The xx
4/5
Television
4/5
Echo And The Bunnymen
3/5
Got told that reviews like my normal ones aren’t good enough, as if the project is to have wax poetic about every album and act like an over the top, pretentious asshole.
No, the project is to listen to 1001 (seemingly) British (post) punk albums… and this one was meh..okay.
Get off your high horse, no one wants to read your essays.
The Killers
4/5
The Clash
5/5
This is an album that, while I don’t necessarily care for the music, (not to say I actively dislike it either) I understand why it’s here. It’s the debut of The Clash..
Also, it’s A punk album, which qualifies it for this list.
Justice
4/5
Led Zeppelin
5/5
I’m not even a big Zeppelin fan, but this is a perfect album
Aerosmith
4/5
Steely Dan
4/5
You can debate whether Dan is Yacht Rock or not, but if you have to, it means it at least sounds an awful lot like yacht rock, which is good enough for me.
Pet Shop Boys
3/5
Not music I would choose to listen to, but some pretty chill synth pop for a Saturday morning wasn’t terrible
Fairport Convention
2/5
I don’t like how my comments from yesterday’s album sometimes sticks around for today’s album. This is definitely not yacht rock, like yesterday.. it’s also not my jam, like yesterday was.
Nirvana
5/5
Sabu
3/5
I want to say I enjoyed this album, I really do. The music was great, but the call and response just seemed very repetitive after a little while, especially not knowing why they’re saying.
Check your pulse of Latin jazz doesn’t make your body move though!
Beatles

Sonic Youth

Eagles

I just listened to this 12 hours ago and could not tell you one single thing about it.
Sparks
3/5
I’ve never heard of Sparks. I thought it was a female led band until I was finished and looked at the artist. Enjoyed the album fine, but especially its unique sound.
The Police
4/5
Ramones
4/5
If punk has to be so heavy on this list, at least it’s the Ramones.

Beach House
4/5
Definitely the type of music I would have been listening to in college
Os Mutantes
4/5
I enjoyed this for the most part, even with the not so subtle Beatle influence. Bat Macumba had too much noise, was over-stimulated. Either way, unique music is why I started this project
The Coral
3/5
Talking Heads
3/5
Jeff Beck
3/5
When the opening lyrics hit and your first thought is “yikes,” you’re probably not in for a great album.. this one got a bit better.
Cocteau Twins
1/5
This was awful in every way
Neil Young & Crazy Horse
3/5
The Undertones
3/5
Nick Drake
4/5
2/5
When the album started, it STARTED. No slow intro, just a punch in the mouth of frenetic energy that never really stops.
But shortly after that, it just feels like you gave two high school kids a few saxophone lessons and then just them hit whatever notes they wanted.
Not a very good listening experience, but bonus points for being unique/creative. I can understand why an album like this would be included in this list.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
4/5
Enjoyed this beginning to end.
John Lee Hooker
3/5
Alice In Chains
4/5
Grunge!
Kate Bush
4/5
This is an interesting one! Had never heard any of her music prior to Stranger Things, which kind of ruined that song, but damn if it isn’t an earworm. The rest of the album is so odd and different and random. Experimental, but decently good
Bill Evans Trio
4/5
Not enough jazz on this list, at least so far. Fantastic album
Wilco
2/5
Pretty boring and forgettable
Pink Floyd
4/5
Isaac Hayes
5/5
Fantastic album start to finish. Pure hot buttered soul
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
3/5
5/5
Second time this album has showed up on my list, (255 and 47) still as good as it was the first time
Van Halen
5/5
Jean-Michel Jarre
4/5
X-Ray Spex
2/5
As little as I like punk, I do find girl punk fun. Add a sax to the mix and I really wanted to enjoy this album… but the vocals were just too hard on the ears.
Beatles
4/5
Pixies
3/5
Slipknot
3/5
Great music to listen to at the gym. Great drums, not great for really anything else
Elvis Costello
2/5
I just can’t get into him and I don’t know why
Fleetwood Mac
5/5
Guns N' Roses
4/5
The La's
3/5
Ella Fitzgerald
5/5
3 hours would normally be way too long, but man… what a voice. What I wouldn’t give to be sitting in a smoky jazz club watching this live.
The Band
3/5
I’ve never listened to The Band before, I think the only reason I know about them is from being mentioned on Stuff You Should Know (great podcast, worth listening to.) I think I’ve heard their version of The Weight but maybe not.. I know Long Black Veil from Dave Matthews Band, who does it better.
Anywho, this album had some good stuff on it, that classic country blues rock blend. Not sure if I would intentionally search them out, but I wouldn’t skip it.
Dolly Parton
5/5
When you listen to classic country, you can’t help but realize how far that genre has fallen. Also, dolly’s a saint. Auto-5
The Stone Roses
4/5
Never heard of these guys before. Very relaxed sound that holds up. It sounds like an album played on college radio in 2008
Duke Ellington
5/5
Beyoncé
2/5
Lauryn Hill
4/5
Going from Beyonce yesterday to Lauryn Hill today was such a juxtaposition of art/business, talent/production, and soul/soulless. This album is so, so good. A blend of R&B, hip hop, soul… just feels raw and beautiful. The lyrics are meaningful, and the lyricist is powerful. A great album that holds up well
Aerosmith
3/5
John Lennon
3/5
George Jones
4/5
Fiona Apple
3/5
Radiohead
2/5
I remember in college giving Radiohead a try and wondering what the fuss was about… 20 years later it’s still not for me
The Temptations
4/5
I’m a sucker for Motown and funk. Loved it
Genesis
3/5
G. Love & Special Sauce
3/5
Look, I love G. love. Been a fan for 20 years. I think their music is fun, but that doesn’t mean it’s good. Definitely not list worthy, but that’s not the only album I’ve gotten so far that I would say this about. You should know who G. Love is, but you only really need to listen to “Milk and Cereal”
Black Sabbath
5/5
One of the more rare entries where it’s abundantly clear why it’s on this list. Rightfully so
TV On The Radio

Bob Dylan

Snoop Dogg
