Goodbye And Hello by Tim Buckley

I was coincidentally listening to this one earlier this week. It's a great album, I'm quite surprised looking at the low ratings on this, this seems like it would be a record that anyone can enjoy, it's really pretty! I'm still in the early phase of my relationship with his music in a way, but I'm quite enamoured already with Starsailor in particular (a 5☆ record for me), one that I would have expected to give people trouble, and it's by design, not this! Pleasant Street is one of the best song I've heard. period. C'mon everybody?! Fav: Pleasant Street Once I Was Phantasmagoria in Two

Ellington at Newport by Duke Ellington

Ok, I'll listen to the complete version, the hyperlink of this app does lead to the complete version over on Spootify after all. Also the cover right there does say complete if you look closeeely at it. I suppose I'll stop after Moon Indigo, since after that it's not the orignal performance anymore, that makes sense I think. Diminuendo in Blue is my favorite one, but listening back to this I'm sure I'd find other highlights to point out!

Venus Luxure No. 1 Baby by Girls Against Boys
Oct 30 2025

I hear more of a Phil Anselmo trying to be quiet a library then a Mark E Smith (referring to the Spotify description.) Very 90s, grungy post-hardcore Rockets are Red has some cool riff Let me come back is pretty engaging. Bass sounds awesome Some fugazi esque guitar in learned it Reminds me a little of bands like KING 810 and Nu Metal stuff, but more subdued and a bit less cringy for sure. Bullet Proof Cupid is the most played song on their spotify, the chorus is very effective, the constant distortion engulfing the track is quite nice. I don't love it but it's goood. This one and Let me come back I like the most as of now Hu uh 7 seas sounds very cool by moment and relaxed, the chorus is wacky tho not sure I like it Was worried it was gonna be too grunge but it's not bad, the production is nice

Pretenders by Pretenders
Oct 31 2025

I thought they were americans Blondie, but a bit more punk rock Like the instrumental the best up to that point, but would have prefered it if they built into pop songs proper Starting with the wait the material is a lot stronger, Kid's a good pop tune Gets less punk rock as the record goes on, but its also the stronger stuff Not sure about the disco type back vocals Yeah Brass in Pocket is good, the bass is really driving it I enjoyed some of the poppier moments on this

Nov 01 2025

Ooh, I actually never heard this The album's an hour long and all of the most famous songs are the very begining, oh well Is funeral for a friend inspired by wendy carlos version of funeral for queen mary? Clockwork was 71, so maybe? Really cool intro! Guitar part aswell is fucking great (8 minutes in), just a great fucking song isn't? The falseto part in the final chorus (pre chorus) of Bennie and the jets is so satisfaying. Wow. At least, I had heard the title track before, obviously it's fucking good Grey seal, the bass and the piano following each other is so tasty, good song! Elton what is this I've seen that movie too is really catchy I kinda hated dirty little girl, but then the ending rocks a lot, goddamn you got me Ok thiis one's the worst haha (13) I dislike saturday Just looking at my notes it's clear that the record starts really strong for me then it fizzles out. The closer is pretty decent tho.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Nov 01 2025

I don't know if want to listen to this again haha I've heard it before I think it's overated, Under the Bridge is really really good tho, it might be their best song. The great Andy Gill produced this one, I really tried to like it you know, but it just sounds a bit grating to me. I'll give 2/5 but I can't give half star

The Yes Album by Yes
Nov 02 2025

Wondeful moments in yours is no disgrace, the bass sounds crisp, so good. Once again the vocals are just not my thing and the melodies are not that great I think. I like close to the edge and fragile, haven't like their other stuff. With all that said, nice vocal work in I've seen all good people, the rythm of it is cool. Not my thing, but it's alright compare to some other more generic 70s prog rock I suppose.

Funeral by Arcade Fire
Nov 03 2025

I went back and gave this one a new listen earlier this year or maybe last year, there's good stuff on it and it was definitely influencial for better or for worse. I think they're a slightly overated band, even tho I love some of their songs, this is probably a 3 1/2 for me if I had to give it a rating, which I do. I'll round it up to a 3 star because I'm a bitch Best tracks: Neighborhood #1 & 3, Wake Up I'll try not to use "overated" for the next ones haha

Moondance by Van Morrison
Nov 04 2025

Very pretty album I like his voice, it somehow reminds me of some kinda or r&b or soul stuff in a way, a lot of color Cameron Winters vocal delivery seems to be inspired by this alot on Geese stuff (which I love listening to in recent time) I'll be back for this one for sure, Moondance is so fucking good

Highly Evolved by The Vines
Nov 05 2025

Fuck this haha Homesick wasn't good but get free is such an annoying song right from the start, it's trash I can't believe it's supposedly one of their best, god! Outtathaway might have been the best one. When the singer screams it gives it at least some kind of energy. There's some classic british pop music influences in this. But every good idea they had came out sounding like dollar store the offspring or some shit. It sounds corny (not that the offspring dosent sound fucking corny haha.) I'd get why someone would like this, it sounds like good songs by other band by moments. In the background it's probably fine, but a whole album is alot! Mary jane is trash sounds like oasis Aint no room was ok

Nothing's Shocking by Jane's Addiction
Nov 06 2025

This sounds like 90s the offspring but gone cock rock Ocean Size I kinda liked... not so much the rest... God this is annoying My friend really likes Jane's and the song the Mountain song and that riff in particular, but I just do not like this, I'm sorry Jane Says... it's like a stolen led zeppelin acoustic riff with terribly sung lyrics over it and awful production, the tipamni, steel drum thingy in this is so fucking bad. Like really ? Haha Maybe I did not hear Ocean Size properly because I hate everything else on this album... On spotify when the album was over it directly played the next one and the first song was called "stop!" and I thought to myself "yes please".

Hot Rats by Frank Zappa
Nov 08 2025

Just had Sgt. Peppers yesterday and then this one! I'm also already quite familiar with. Tempted to give this a 5 Hoping to get some more Zappa, plenty of albums I haven't heard yet! This might the best pure "guitar" album ever honestly

Vanishing Point by Primal Scream
Nov 09 2025

I've heard Screamadelica, really like the track "Loaded", but not much else. The very begining of burning wheel is pretty cool. Kowalski is very nice! Bassline cool! The hit-hats type sounds rapid fire is so great! Baggie. Neo psychedealia. Medication has a cool attitude to it, reminds me of a Rowland s Howard song somehow It's alright

Blackstar by David Bowie
Nov 10 2025

Leave me alone It's a 5

The Score by Fugees
Nov 11 2025

It's not my thing I heard ready or not before it's a really famous song, it's catchy for sure I know who Lauryn Hill is! To be fair, rn, in the metro it's hard to make out anything really haha I'll try to finish this later today Okay Fu-Gee-La is really enjoyable The more r&b influences the better! It was good, but I'm not crazy about it

1999 by Prince
Nov 12 2025

There's something very dated about it, and some songs I find annoying, but also I still hear r&b artits doing this sound! When it works it really works! I heard this one before, I love little red corvet, dmsr and lady cab driver 3 1/2 at least

Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon & Garfunkel
Nov 13 2025

Love this one it's 4 1/2 to 5 for me Hope to get something new tomorrow haha

Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Nov 14 2025

Cool, I like my boy Neil and never heard this one! I generally like his acoustic stuff more, Round & Round is quite good The instrumental breaks starting in down by the river are soo slick and awesome, great song The vocal melody in the chorus of the losing end reminds me of a bowie song

Superfly by Curtis Mayfield
Nov 15 2025

4 1/2 might be my favorite funk album

Beggars Banquet by The Rolling Stones
Nov 16 2025

Fav tracks: Sympathy for the devil Stray cat blues Salt of the Earth 3 is a bit low I know, I'd need more time with it, 3 1/2

Gold by Ryan Adams
Nov 17 2025

This is really boring Country dancing stuff The songs are acceptable, some good moments of like classic american folk stuff Is this album really an hour long? Stars go blue is like a bad coldplay song, I hate it I get nothing from this The rescue blues was ok I think Harder now thst its over is an alright ballad I skipped a lot of songs after Nobody Girl when they started to annoy me too much, like I get it, this is toooo long

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath
Nov 18 2025
Hypnotised by The Undertones
Nov 19 2025

Love the cover There goes Norman is awesome Power pop dead kennedys

Here, My Dear by Marvin Gaye
Nov 20 2025

Immediatly very good Sooo smooooth I met a little girl, fire Dooooo you remembeeeer all of the PSUHINMEE!Yeah yeah Woah the sax solo in is that enough I might like this better than what's going on Anna's song, I love the subtle keys in that song and in general on the record, it's great! Poo pee poo pee doo Yeah it's been a minute but I like this one better than what's going on, it's great, long but great!

The Number Of The Beast by Iron Maiden
Nov 21 2025

** I wanna say, I've been listening to what's going on after finishing yesterday's album and... (the album's great) inner city blues is fucking amazing god! ... this means nothing to me Fav: Hallowed be thy name

From Elvis In Memphis by Elvis Presley
Nov 22 2025

At first it was alright, also I was in the shower for most of it; an unecessary long shower, not paying close attention. Then any day now started playing and it was really good! So were some of following songs, suspicious mind and Kentucky rain I liked! I was thinking maybe maybe the whole album had been this good, but it's really the ending of this. Yeah it might not be the most famous song from this but Any Day Now is my favorite. Love this one!

Lady Soul by Aretha Franklin
Nov 23 2025

* love the way suspicious mind fades out then fades back in, it's like the opening of Dune **also I don't know if I think Here, My Dear is as goood as What's Going On, it's a cool sci fi funk Odyssey, but there ARE some classics on WGO. Anyway it's definetly worth listening as much as What's Going On or Let's Get It On! **I feel bad for rating Maiden that low but well... ****might have rated Hot Rats too high, it's higher than a 4 for sure, but do I like it as much as Entairtenment! Let's say? (No) Or the other album I did rate a 5? (Not really! But it's close) *****Who care anyway... I mean yeah, chain of fools and natural woman are fantastic obviously Ain't no way is great, short n sweet!

Born In The U.S.A. by Bruce Springsteen
Nov 24 2025

Never liked the song born in the u.s.a. This is really samey. I love I'm on fire. In No Surrender the cadence of the voice is really Dylan-esque to me. I'm going down really picked up at the end uh? Glory days is annoying me a little bit. Well I don't know what to rate this.

Blue by Joni Mitchell
Nov 25 2025
Nov 26 2025

Violet's great! She walks on me is pretty energetic Its good! Not much to say about it, I like the vibe of it for sure

Ready To Die by The Notorious B.I.G.
Nov 28 2025

This is somewhat of a low rating, I know... there are some amazing songs on this, I love Things Done Changed and Ready to Die, but I'd be lying if I said that this wasn't a bit long for me. I think I just get tired of this kinda thing quickly, it has too be a fucking weird rap record for me to really be into it I think. Great vibes tho, I'll be jamming some songs off of this for sure.

Broken English by Marianne Faithfull
Nov 30 2025

Enjoying the groovy instrumental Bluesy new wave Witches song I didn't like, but broken englisjsh and guilt are pretty cool This falls a bit short somehow, not that it isn't good, but you know, something is missing to make the good great! We're talking best of all time on this list! Like a really think the idea of John Lennon cover is awesome but it's missing just a little something. Yeah I totally love Why'd ya do it, it's quite vulgar but it's bitting, honest and it feels deserved. Like fuck yeah, I understand why this is here then, this is cool!

Ghosteen by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Dec 01 2025

The 5 is because I saw that other people rated this unbelievably low, they should have included Skeleton Tree instead, it's less epic and ambitious I suppose but it's such a tight record, it's my favorite from the trilogy, not that normies would have liked it better haha

On The Beach by Neil Young
Dec 02 2025

On the beach is my favourite Neil Young song I think, I might listen to this again today but if not it's still going to be a 4

Rock 'N Soul by Solomon Burke
Dec 04 2025

Can't nobody love you is great! It's hard to really judge an oldy rock n roll record for me, on a first listen and all, but it's quite good!

Back At The Chicken Shack by Jimmy Smith
Dec 07 2025

This is fine the guitar on messy bessie is fucking awesome, starting at around 4min it got me They got me... I liked the second half

Smile by Brian Wilson
Dec 08 2025

I heard Smiley Smile before, but I'ver never heard this version of it.

Supa Dupa Fly by Missy Elliott
Dec 10 2025

Oh... This is an hour? Shit. Stock it to me, they don't wanna fuck with me, I'm talkin'; there was a couple standout but I also wasn't paying close attention, doing shopping and stuff. Not my style, but this was an easier listen than I would have thought !

Heroes to Zeros by The Beta Band
Dec 11 2025

This is fun Easy Neo psychedelia A little of blur maybe Some weird fun guitar effect in out-side Some boring songs, the last one wasn't too memorable This was okay

Bad by Michael Jackson
Dec 13 2025

I think I'ver never heard this one the whole way throught. I love Dirty Diana (underated song) and Smooth Criminal (yeah obviously) already and I thought that besides those ones (and Bad) I wouldn't be engaged by the record, but I'm about halfway through and every song is pretty good. This might be more enjoyable than Thriller AS AN ALBUM if I'm being honest.

Bluesbreakers by John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers
Dec 14 2025

The Little Girl song isn't my favorite Isn't that the day tripper riff? I mean it's the same year, so whatever... They like doing solos that's for sure I'm by no means a blues rock expert, but seems to be pretty early on the timeline of like what this sound sounds like, so even tho I hear, let's say some Hendrix from time to time, it's not really liked they ripped him off or anything! With that said, with all the talent contained within these recordings, I can't really say that I'm enjoying the songs all that much. This is just okay to me, let's give 3

Surf's Up by The Beach Boys
Dec 16 2025

Okay okay okay this is good right off the bat! Yeah, this is tight, better than the last Beach record I had easily! Fav tracks: Don't Go Near the Water Long Promised Road Disney Girls (1957) Surf's Up

Dec 17 2025

This does scratch a very specific itch! If you want some good ol western music, songs about cowboys and showdown, sung by a Roy Orbison sounding cowboy ! This sounds like it must be it! Fav: Big Iron They're Hanging Me Tonight

Live! by Fela Kuti
Dec 19 2025

Wow, this was great! The rythm section sounds so goood on this! Loved it!

Manassas by Stephen Stills
Dec 22 2025

Reminds me of Neil Young. Liked the first track A bit too country for me, the songs are well put together tho. The Jesus Song was super lame. Don't look at my Shadow has a super catchy chorus, the bluegrass guitar solos are pretty cool, liked this one. It doesn't matter is also quite good (might be my favorite one.) The first part of the record was hard to get through, nothing really bad, but not the most interesting material if you pay close attention to it. Don't remember much about the second part! It's ok

Lost In The Dream by The War On Drugs
Dec 23 2025

I've seen them live a couple years ago, with The National. Wasn't too familiar with them, I did listen to their stuff, might have listen to this album, might haven only listen to the hits, I don't remember, then I've seen them live, and never listened to them again. But this is good, I'm enjoying it, driving drum beats that makes you wanna shake your head, with a lot of atmosphere in the production, quite dreamy; Arcade Fire meet Arcade Fire... sounds like Arcade Fire really, with a country rock vibe, I've got Neil Young on my mind maybe, but the vocal melodies make me think of him in particular. Fav Track: Under the Pressure

The Gershwin Songbook by Ella Fitzgerald
Dec 24 2025

Well thanks for my job, I'm doing a 12 hours shift today, I'm editing so this can play in the background while I work, and wait for more work and wait so I can go home and not work. I'm saying this because, looking at the 59 songs making this record and looking at the running time, this is probably about 2h30! **it's more than 3hours actually It's very appropriate for a december 23rd. There's something Chrismasty about this. Let's Call The Whole Thing Off is charming, reminds me of the Nina Simone song love me or leave me (I think that's the one I'm thinking off(a much better Well it's about 5pm now, I haven't finished the first "CD" yet. Busier than I thought, but I'm at work until 1am, who knows if I can finish this today haha It's 8:51 and I'm in the middle of disc 5 9:35 I've made it! This was a pretty good soundtrack to the night, it's obvioulsy not meant to be absorb in the same way as you would any album. You'd have this on during a dinner with friends and, you know, the lenght wouldn't matter. Fav (I think??): But not for me Let's call the whole thing off just another rhumba The man I love Somebody from somewhere

Gorillaz by Gorillaz
Dec 27 2025

Fav: 5/4 Tomorrow comes today Clint Eastwood 19-2000

The Age Of The Understatement by The Last Shadow Puppets
Dec 28 2025

Oh, it's Alex Turner! I looked up who were the other members, but I'm not familiar with them. Once again, this list is very british (not a bad thing), the first two monkeys album are really good, wouldn't be surprised to see them popping up here obviously. This isn't as good as those, but it's enjoyable, it's certainly more fun than AM. I like the short songs, the spaghetti western vibes, the throwback thing they're doing, it'd need more time with it. Fav: Mistakes Were Made for You Calm Like You

Melody A.M. by Röyksopp
Dec 29 2025

Quite good, 3 1/2, so once again I'll rate either too low or too high, eh, what are you gonna do? Fav: Eple A Higher Place Poor Leno

Tommy by The Who
Dec 30 2025

So i've been putting this off for a couple weeks now, this is #63 and I'm now at #95! It's double album, and even if I do not dislike The Who, I DO know what they sound like, so I wasn't that excited in a "I'm gonna discover this" kinda way. Eyesight [...] and Christmas were my favorites from disc 1. Pinball Wizard's the big one on disc2, like the album, I like it but I don't looove it!

Dec 31 2025

Don't Want to Know If You Are Lonely is really good but then there's too many ballads in a row and it looses it's momentum. BUT hat song good tho This is no Zen Arcade but it's alright

Jan 01 2026

It's like every annoying pop cliché done with a generic synthpop aesthetic. At the midpoint and I'm thinking, it's gonna get worst isn't ? Recover probably has the strongest chorus, it's not a great song or anything, but it felt like the strongest payoff There are way worse pop album out there, it takes talent and creativity to write a pop song that works even if it's not like amazing, and this does it's job, I want to punch them in the face, but I get why someone would like this, it's ok I suppose. I skipped by the throat, those backing vocals were just too much at this point Final track and I thought this was fucking Chris Martin on this, this makes sense because this sounds like a bad coldplay album, which is mostly all of them

Jan 03 2026

It's good, just not my thing I guess, that solo from Free Bird sure is crazy tho. Fav: Simple Man *** my favourite from yesterday's album because I'm doing that now it seems: First of the Gang to Die The World is Full of Crashing Bores Irish Blood, English Heart

Jan 04 2026

I probably won't have much to say about this, I do like that sound, that late 90s big beat sound, I'm sure I'll enjoy this to some extent. It started strong, but the rest of the record wasn't too memorable to me. I fucking love Santa Cruz for some reason, like really.

Modern Kosmology by Jane Weaver
Jan 05 2026

Some nice Krautrock influences on the opener Liked the classic progressive electronic synth on did you see butterfly? The vocal melodies are pretty good Loops might be my favorite, it's very krautrock, love the intertwining guitars the vocal melody is very complementary to what could be pretty chaotic, but it's done just pretty The Architect is also quite nice, there are still some interesting use of repetition but it sounds different, like if the 70s music elements were used in another context. I can't put my finger on it exactly, what it reminds me off, but the production is very effective *it reminded me of Odd Look by Kavinsky I think that's what it was The reverby Ravenspoint is quite cool, it's really a breath of fresh air in the second half for me 3 - 3 1/2 ? It is very reparative which I would have on for background, I agree jdwasner from rym, I agree! Fav: H>A>K Loops in the Secret Society The Architect (from the the silver globe, I did also listen to this one) Argent* Don't Take my Soul* If Only we Could be in Love Actually I prefered this one, I might come back to it especially to those * marked song Ok that's it bye 👋

Survivor by Destiny's Child
Jan 07 2026

I thought that the first two songs were decent (well... survivor gets a bitvannoying actually haha) but then we get to... bootylicious and it's hot garbage and every song after that really sucks, missing that sweet sweet it's ok, that must be a single quality of the begining (technically bootylicious was a single and... I think it's sad really.)

Brilliant Corners by Thelonious Monk
Jan 08 2026

This is bopping hard Fav: Bemsha Swing Pannocia Brillant Corners I mean it's all really good stuff, like that Fela Kuti Live album I heard couple weeks ago for the first time this could be a five really

Power In Numbers by Jurassic 5
Jan 09 2026

Liked this one a lot! Fav: Freedom What's Golden *A Days At The Races and Break I remember liking a lot toooo

The Clash by The Clash
Jan 10 2026

Janie Jones, Remote Control, White Riot, London's Burning, Police & Thieves, such a great record, hard to pick a favorites. Well, I just did.

Phaedra by Tangerine Dream
Jan 11 2026

YES! I've been meaning to listen to this one for a while! Yes, I know, it's one of their most acclaimed effort, but somehow I haven't gotten to it. I grew up with Stratosfear and Force Majeure and heard some of their other stuff, so I'm looking foward to this. This was great! It's his own little world really this record, weny by super quick! Most people on here are not gonna vibe with this I would think haha Best: Phaedra Mysterious Semblance At the Strand of Nightmares (haha quite a title this is)

Jan 12 2026

Maggie May is easily the stand-out, did I ever heard a Rod Stewart song before this morning? Couldn't tell you, likely I'd say. ...ye

Back In Black by AC/DC
Jan 13 2026

Never liked ac/dc, this was very painful to go through. I'll give this one a 2 because back in black is cool and all in all this could be worse, I think.

La Revancha Del Tango by Gotan Project
Jan 14 2026

Oh! I'm surprised to see this one here! It's a cool one! You never realize how much you need trip-hop tango before playing this!

Architecture And Morality by Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark
Jan 15 2026

If it wasn't for goddamn New Order, they would have gotten away with the best synthpop album ever!

Triangle by The Beau Brummels
Jan 16 2026

I'll be nice for once, since I'd want to give this one 3 1/2 and I can't, I'll go for a 4! Fav: nine pound hammer Magic Hollow The Wolf of Velvet Fortune

Back to Basics by Christina Aguilera
Jan 18 2026

This... is a long album! Ah! Two songs in tho and this is way better than that Destiny's Child album. That one... I really didn't get... Like if you absolutely want to include a female led early 2000 contemporary r&b album, I have nothing against this one so far. Disc 2 is a bit much for me haha 2 1/2 Fav: Ain't No Other Man

Aja by Steely Dan
Jan 20 2026

3 1/2

Tarkus by Emerson, Lake & Palmer
Jan 21 2026

I'm a big a fan of Greg Lake era King Crimson(or pretty much any era King Crimson) his voice is just soo great on these records. SO GOOD! I also did not know that Keith Emerson, the keyboardist, did motion picture soundtracks. He, unsurprisingly, did Inferno, one of those nonsensical italian B movie, I suppose he was remplacing Dario Argento's regular band of choice, Goblin for this one. This is the first of two sequels to the classic Suspiria (1977) btw if you didn't know! Also it sucks! Back to ELP! I heard Tarkus before and I like it, Greg's voice carries some of the songs tho I think. And it's not that the songs are bad, but the constant keyboard solos get a bit redundant. I've tried Trilogy and other ELP records, but Tarkus is the only one I've enjoyed so far(kus). 3 1/2

Honky Tonk Heroes by Waylon Jennings
Jan 22 2026

I wish I could edit those fucking thing, I wrote "remplacing" in yesterday's log instead of "replacing" because I'm french and I write these quickly, now I wanna kill myself. Anyway this looks like a nightmare. I'm joking, I'm glad to listen to these old country records. I certainly haven't enjoyed, in any sort of capacity, modern country music, so it's fun to listen to something in the genre that actually has some charm!

Jan 23 2026

Not bad, but I like it less than other albums I rated a three. Wow great review Mr. Chomby! Thanks Jimmy. ... Mama Said Knock You Out is quite good, almost feels like a different record, but you know not rly tho. Haha sure

En-Tact by The Shamen
Jan 25 2026

THIS is from a very specific time, doin' a very specific thing, because well, listening to the first track I thought to meself "this sounds like that awful madchester band; the Happy Mondays". Oh Robert Dinery, this isn't good without ecstasy you wanker! But, you've also got Magazine on here, so I can't stay mad at you!!

Music for the Masses by Depeche Mode
Jan 29 2026

Like Architecture and Morality, I'm tempted to give this one a five, you hardly can get a better pop album than this. Never Let Me Down is my favorite off of this, but every song up until Nothing is really good! I've made new second favorites on this relisten.

Sex Packets by Digital Underground
Jan 30 2026

Honestly... I love The humpty dance They sound so nice and polite! Even the song about the ***** & the **** fest sounds kinda polite! I got spooked when they used the b word (bitch) in danger zone, like guys CALM DOWN! But for real, past the opener and the early part of this record, it quickly gets a bit tedious for me. It's soso! But I'm giving a 3 for the MO-THER-FLIP-PING-HUMP-TY-DAN-CE! BAG IT UUUUUP BROTHERS!

Feb 04 2026

It might not be an album I'm gonna come back to, but it's not bad really. If you're really into early 2000 indie rock, you're probably gonna like this! It's a bit generic but at the same time I hear plenty of sounds that I like anyways, I can hear a bit of Franz Ferdinand on the dancier track for example like I can hear Idk The Doors maybe in the melodies of another. Shouldn't be on here, but it's ok. Best tracks: Zuton Fever You Will You Won't

Celebrity Skin by Hole
Feb 05 2026

#100 over here!! Celebrity skin, my second Hole album! I'm about 10% done! It's crazy to think it's gonna take years to complete. Years!!! I wish I could, like, ask for a new album when my album of the day is one I already know! I might have gotten through this in a year or a year and a half! I've got shit to do ya know!!! I have not heard Live Through This too much in my life besides through this list exercise, this seems to be more pop than that one, which would probably be a bad thing for me if not for the fact that I'm not into grunge! I like plenty of 90s alternative rock grunge adjacent albums, but nothing too grunge really, and Live Through This wasn't quite Rid Of Me let's say, still good thought. ... Celibrity skin is a really good song and I like it so far! Like the dynamics of Dying! The vocals are great on this one too! Oh I've just learned that there is a YMG cover on Live Through This, I did not notice, Colossal Youth that's an album that should be on here isn't it? Malibu I did not care too much about, Northen Star and Boys on the Radio I much prefer, I'd have chosen one of those over Malibu for a single personally. Boys on the Radio is so power pop, it's like a Cheap Trick song or something. It is good, it is good! Heaven Tonight I do not like, worst on the record for me! Petals a great choice for a closer! Ok so 3 1/2 maybe? Idk? It's the100th so I'll round it up this time!

Clandestino by Manu Chao
Feb 06 2026

I'm always interested when they include music that's not primarily in english, not enough of those from what I've seen from the list! With that said, this isn't too impressive of an album. I'd like some latin influenced music that's not also a marketable kinda bland pop record. It's not terrible, but I see no point in ever hearing this again. Maybe if go and hang out in mexico I'll recognize Clandestino playing in some bar somewhere and I'll shazam it and be like "oh yeah! now that I'm hearing this again I'm liking it". Fav: Clandestino Worst: Bongo Bong probably

Goodbye And Hello by Tim Buckley
Feb 08 2026

Feb 09 2026

Full of great songs, I have a thing for The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonight, the vocal melodies in the verse is so satisfying! Every once in a while, I'm thinking this might be the day I'm finally enjoying Man on the Moon, but that day has never come. It never hits for me... Also, I wanna say I do not like Stipe's lyrics, or at least on this record, I've just listened to it, so I don't feel conflicted about that statement. It often feels like placeholder lyrics before you'd come back to make it sound good and meaningful ! To be fair, many albums that I have been through here have awful or lame lyrics and I haven't mentioned it, it's just a shame with this one I think because this could be greater than it is. Oh and my rating is going to be good btw.

Ellington at Newport by Duke Ellington
Feb 10 2026

Ok, I'll listen to the complete version, the hyperlink of this app does lead to the complete version over on Spootify after all. Also the cover right there does say complete if you look closeeely at it. I suppose I'll stop after Moon Indigo, since after that it's not the orignal performance anymore, that makes sense I think. Diminuendo in Blue is my favorite one, but listening back to this I'm sure I'd find other highlights to point out!

World Clique by Deee-Lite
Feb 11 2026

After Deee-Lite Theme I was like: oi! intentionally kitsh funky house beats, sure I'm down for that, as long as it's groovy you know, but holy cannoli Luigi I feel done with this almost immediately as the second song starts. Looking foward to Groove Is in the Heart, I'm curious, it's their big song! If I get one great song out off this, it'll be worth it! It wasn't!

Sea Change by Beck
Feb 12 2026

There isn't anything I dislike on this but it does feel a bit redundant. Some of the string arrangements reminded me of Nick Drake! End of The Day was quite catchy, liked it a lot, I liked many other songs, but they all blended together a bit too much. Great voice! Oh and... Lost Cause is great!

For Your Pleasure by Roxy Music
Feb 13 2026

In Every Dream Home a Heartache is easily my favorite on this, but the whole album is quite good, love the poppier track like Beauty and the instrumental jam track like The Bogus Man near the end of the album.

Electric Prunes by The Electric Prunes

Feb 17 2026

Fun album! You can't really do better than KIDS (well they arguably would, with My Little Dark Age but that's another story). Lots of great ideas, and great hooks, it's just that Kids does it better really. It's the soundtrack of a specific and nostalgic time for many people, but it really does encapsulate those freshman years, the feeling of it; partying, discovering and feeling a little weird sometimes maybe, even if, it wasn't part of yours. Kids Youth (might be my number two!)

Group Sex by Circle Jerks
Feb 19 2026

You know, I took a peek at what punk hardcore albums were included on the list, I was curious, because I thought to myself; there probably isn't that many albums like that on a list like this! Nor should there be. This goes without saying but maybe an early Misfits record would have been good instead of this? Songs to Scream at the Sun? Diaspora Problems? Unsilent Death (not exactly punk hardcore but that would be awesome)? Never really listened to Circle Jerk before, I heard of them I think, I just don't know if this was an influential, important album or not, because this is definitly a hardcore album! And it's hard to really weight in such a short work of music, it was alright for what it was! Back against the wall was my favourite!

Fisherman's Blues by The Waterboys
Feb 20 2026

A side is so goood! Fisherman's Blues and We Will Not Be Lovers especially! Some beautiful celtic folk music with big music attitude! And it ends with a very appropriate Van Morrison cover! Great! Great! Grrrreat! I don't want to talk about side B! Anyhooo, this is a least 3 1/2! Byeeeee

Feb 21 2026

Is there going to be a metal album (according to 1001) that I like besides them awesome Black Sabbath records?? How many ACDC, cock rock, Limp Bizkit and grunge albums am I gonna have to go through before the next one! I don't want to be the I hate metal music guy, I love metal music! I'm sorry Iron Maiden I should have rated you higher I don't know what I was thinking! You know I don't hate this, this isn't something I'd listen to of my own volition but it's fine, I get why people like this.

Feb 22 2026

Fav: Beetlebum Song 2 Death of a Party *also if you can listen to the extra track dancehall from the japanese edition!

Tanto Tempo by Bebel Gilberto
Feb 23 2026

Some part of this reminded me of some of Yoko Kanno's acoustic tracks on the Bebop soundtrack. I wonder if it's just me because those songs are so embedded in my brain. That's my big takeway after one listen of this today, I do like brazilian music, this was decent!

The Genius Of Ray Charles by Ray Charles
Feb 24 2026

#119 I know, nobody dislikes Ray Charles music, I don't dislike Ray Charles music, your mom doesn't dislike Ray Charles music, your dog probably wouldn't dislike Ray Charles music if he weren't a dog, but most of the songs on this aren't that great really. Ok, Come Rain Or Come Shine is great admittedly, but I don't get the high ratings on this, it's fine, it's acceptable, but there are awesome jazz albums on this list not getting the love they deserve!

Mermaid Avenue by Billy Bragg
Feb 25 2026

Love Wilco! If I ever get to Yankee Foxtrot Hotel I'm gonna give that bitch a 5 star so haaard! First time listening to this and hrm.. maybe last time? It's alright, but I wouldn't say it's an essential listen. Also California Stars is great!

Not the Self-Titled uh? This was quite good, I Against I and House of Suffering are so awesome. I mean this started super strong didn't it? I Against I might be my favorite song by them! I should have listened to this a second time before giving it a stupid ranking really but no time, next one plzzzz!

A Hard Day's Night by Beatles
Mar 02 2026

Ladies and gentlement; The Bungles!!! Almost every album they did after this, is better (I say almost because of Beatles for Sale, always forget about that one), but it's hard to dismiss it nonetheless. People love A Hard Day's Night and And I Love Her with it's sweet guitar solo, they're classic! Can't Buy me Love is also quite liked I think! And I personally have a thing for I Should Have Known Better and Any Time At All! Love those two! Then I forgot about I'm Just Happy to Dance With You before listening for this for the 1001 exercise and it's catchy as heck! The last few songs are a bit weak and nothing on the album is ground breaking per se but I'd feel bad giving just a 3 for an album full of good fun bungles classic track! It's a-bang for your Bung (les)! God, I'm tired...

Very by Pet Shop Boys
Mar 04 2026

Many songs I've heard before and didn't know the name of. When artists were doin synthpop and electro pop in recent years it feels like THIS is what they were emulating. This isn't OMD or Depeche Mode, it's lacking an edge. It's not as smart amd it's very clean pop, but it's well done.

Back to Mystery City by Hanoi Rocks
Mar 09 2026

I expected to hate this, but this is way more listenable than I though it would be. It's not as terrible as Poison or fucking Nitro I thought, maybe it's because they're finnish and not americans, I don't know, the voice has a bit more personality and it's a bit punky by moments, well the first track is. Shouldn't be on the list obviously and I was a bit bored during the second half, but it's fine.. Fav: Malibu Beach Nightmare Tooting Beck Neck

Imagine by John Lennon
Mar 10 2026

I didn't know people were still doing that John Lennon edgy hate thing. More surprised than when I was looking at the hateful "reviews" of Morrissey's albums (they're grest albums btw, but he IS a bit of a cunt isn't he?) Imagine making an album that's really honest and raw and people thinking it's pretentious? -spoiler I'm thinking that's gonna be my review when I get to the plastic ono band! This one, I don't love as much, but it's still great! Fav: Imagine Jealous Guy How do you Sleep? Oh Yoko!

This was pleasant. Does this sound condescending? I supposed the album really stays on the same level all the way through, not the most exciting thing I've heard. With that said, Shine a Light is great, especially the end, I did not expected that superb finale and it really grabbed me. I just feel like this can't be a four and I feel bad.

Third by Portishead
Apr 09 2026

This album is so good So tasty So clever It's one of the best release of the 2000! They stepped away from the classic styling of the Bristol sound because they done that already and yet it really still sounds like the same direction, a push foward. Maybe this is experimental rock, but it's a Portishead album nonetheless and it's great!

Apr 10 2026

Not bad! It really has its moments! With that said, there are songs that leave me a bit cold. It's very hit or miss for me, some songs I think are just beautifully realized and others I find annoying and played out. Starlings, An Audience With the Pope, The Loneliness..., The Fix

Blunderbuss by Jack White
Apr 11 2026

I think I've never heard this one? I remember not liking the singles off of Lazaretto and not successfully listening to Boarding House. I did listen to Fear of the Dawn and No Name which I liked and then never listened to again. I should have and maybe I will after this! Oh ! this one is fine.

Hot Shots II by The Beta Band
Apr 13 2026

I like Squares and the production is interesting... I should have rated Heroes to Zeroes lower. This might be a better album... but at the same time... it's so boring... this has to be a 2... let's say 2 retroactively for both of these...

2112 by Rush
Apr 17 2026

I feel like I've been bulied into liking Rush; because I always loved rock music, because I love prog, because I'm canadien! People in movies love them! Your cool uncle loves them! They're SO GOOD AT INSTRUMENT! I heard many a Rush album, up to 1982, I've heard them all! And most of them I don't care for! Hemispheres and Moving Picutures are great tho. And this one too, mostly because of the 20 minutes title track. That's it.

The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter by The Incredible String Band
Apr 19 2026

I understand people hating this, because listening to this at work, my mind was really focusing on the more "grating" elements while I was doing other things and it just felt like it wasn't working. But for the last songs I payed more attention and it was quite charming. I do understand that this is how most people listen to music so the rating isn't surprising really. Swift as the Wind I really like.

First Band On The Moon by The Cardigans
May 04 2026

Very charming! I do like the Cardigans and their twee pop thing they've got going. The trio of songs Never Recover, Step on Me, Lovefool are so fun and catchy. It's a 3 1/2 so I almost went for a 4 but idk couldn't do it!!!

The Coral by The Coral
Jun 18 2026

4 tracks in I was liking it, the first track with the sea shanty thing, Dreaming of You is quite catchy, the singer is good, love his accent, his Alex Turner type of accent, from where is that? From Yorkshire innit? They're not from the same place you say? I don't know, Hoylake? What the fuck is that? He don't sound like a beetle? Anyway, by the end I was tired of these guys, they're - not bad, but many of their ideas just fall flat, it's irritating.

Bubble And Scrape by Sebadoh
Jun 24 2026

#239 listening diary -Soul and Fire is pretty good! -I like how his voice sounds on Happily Divided, it reminded me of Eliott Smith a lil bit. Very 90s sounding 90s album. -Sister was cool, I really like the use of feedback. It does feel like the production isn't up to par. Like this doesn't sound as raw as they wanted it to be, maybe the mix is bit off, like every instrument is a bit too quiet or something. -Cliche was good too, I'm enjoying this so far, coming off of Soul and Fire I felt a bit undewhelmed for 3 or 4 tracks but then it kicked off again. -the songs are well written and interesting, this is a better 3 than many 3 I've given. -There's a couple of songs with post-punk sounding guitars. I do like that.

#243 listening diary -I forgot how great of a tune "Rip it up" is! -the afro beat and dub stuff is very well implemented! It's all funky and poppy, in a disco kinda way at times, but it's quite tastefully done I'd say. -I always thought that their jangly guitar sound might have been an influence on Johnny Marr and fellow Smiths, but I don't think he ever said so himself. It doesn't matter really, if you like jangly guitars there's plenty of that on here! Probably even more so on "You Can't Hide...", they're both pretty good record I reckon. Ta ta

Take Me Apart by Kelela
Jul 03 2026

#248 listening diary Very much not a bad record! I'm surprised at the low ratings on this honestly. "Frontline" and "Take Me Apart" were great! The production is strong overall, and it got close to pure smoothy soul goodness at it's best moment, there isn't really a bad song on this! With that said I cannot give this a 4. It's in realm of 3.5 for me!
