I respect Sinéad’s vocal abilities — she has a great voice — but Jesus Christ this was a dour listen. Music for the worst person you know who is probably into beat poetry. Lyrics so irredeemably on the nose over the top of incredibly stale production.
Lots of respect for Sinead as an activist, but this is a prime example of 90s stuff that just misses me entirely.
Alhaista alhaisempi albumi. Yksi on minimi?
not interested
booooring 1/5
Sorry I know she's lauded as like amazing but I thought this was shite huehuehueh
it's giving...old I was SO bored, I'm sorry also physically struggled to hear the songs...
I Do Not Want To Listen To This Ever Again.
Since NCTU got so much overplay, I never felt like listening to the remainder of the album. It is not my thing, but some may like it.
Not so good
Nice voice, but this album is so boring..
I have spent my whole life thinking that I like Sinead O’Connor, but apparently I don’t.

Ni me relajó, solo me aburrió.
Just bad...
Im really not a fan of this dated 90s Pop style
Did not like.
Sounded pretty much as expected, not for me. She's got a good voice I suppose but the music was very middle of the road, one of those albums where they can't have been excited with any of the music they came up with. A bit everything but the girl in that sense I think, where i get the feeling they think their lyrics are really interesting and it never occurred to them it had to sound good. Won't be back, I'm not completely sure it's bad but it isn't what I want to hear.
This has to be one of the most boring albums I've ever heard. Ex. Emperor's New Clothes is the same 2 chords the entire song. Next song, Black Boys on Mopeds, 4 chords on repeat the entire song. Most songs have no vocal interest. Doubled up vocals for style or to hide the lack of singing ability? I went into this one expecting to enjoy it and thought well I'm almost done... oh wait, there's a second disc!? The best song with amazing dynamics, an interesting arrangement, and a cool vocals... was written by someone else.
Gefällt mir nicht.
8 unforgettable, and barely audible dirges. One halfway decent song. One limp cover of a Prince B-side.
Boring AF.
I remember loving this when it came out... doesn't hold the same feeling for me today with the exception of the hit.
I did not enjoy this.
1.0 Not for me... I could not see myself ever turning up the volume on any song and liking it. Maybe Nothin Compares 2 U, but the Prince one is better (and he wrote the song). Starting to think ripping the pope picture was a publicity stunt.
I don't know what the hype is. The best song on this album isn't even hers and a lot of the other songs are atrocious. I haven't heard this music before and I hope I won't anytime soon. RIP but please save yourself 50 minutes and go listen to The Cranberries or Fleetwood Mac instead. Cheers.
Meh

I think I can safely say I have a least favourite album of all time now
Just a big nope on this one.
What a load of flumph
I know she has a great voice if you like that sort of thing, but I found this plodding and ponderous. Not for me.
We had a talent show for my elementary school back when I was in 4th grade. Anyone between the third and fifth grades were allowed to participate. One girl in the fifth grade - a pudgy broad with thick glasses and ratty hair - decided that she wanted to be the singer songwriter type. This was before the rise of the shy singer songwriter girls of the early to mid 2010s. Where she got the inspiration to sing is beyond me. Maybe Taylor Swift? Regardless, she went up on stage with her guitar in front of the entire school to sing an original song that she wrote. We were all waiting in anticipation to hear this shy girl spring out of her shell and become reborn as the resident pop star. The song she chose to perform was called “Butterfly”. And it was AWFUL. Let me say that again. AWFUL. Truly horrendous. The lyrics escape me, but it went something like “I will spread my wings and fly high, I am a butterfly”. And good lord she could not sing. Or play guitar for that matter. It was overall just a trainwreck. Everyone in the audience was at their best snickering, and at their worst howling laughing. Even the teachers couldn’t contain themselves. It was that bad. We all mocked her song relentlessly for the next 3 weeks. I think she transferred schools after that year. But yeah this album reminded me vividly of that moment, just with better instrumentals and an Irish accent. I haven’t thought about that in years. Thank you for putting a smile on my face Sinead! Too bad your only good song was a cover of Prince’s. Now that’s an artist that can actually sing.
So, um, pretty sure I could have Alexa play this album and clear out all people in any room in my house. The problem is then I would still be there. Would I have the strength to tell Alexa to stop playing Sinead O’Connor before that wigless Gaelic siren has sung me fast asleep?
Tenderly walks that thin line between uninteresting and shite
Feel so Different - It kinda sets a moody tone, but just drags on too damn long. I am Stretched on Your Grave - That break beat isn't working with Sinead's voice and this song. At all. Three Babies - The video of triple headed Sinead reminded me of The Real Slim Shady, and now I can't unsee it. The Emperor's New Clothes - A new wave type beat coming out of nowhere. Sinead must have learned her dance moves from Michael Stipe. Or the other way around. Black Boys on Mopeds - Back to another slow ballad. I don't know if it's just YouTube, but the mix is all over the place on this album, and has absolutely no consistency. Another meh song. Nothing Compares 2 U - Sinead is decent, but Prince's version is better. I'll die on this hill. Jump in the River - Another jarring transition, but actually the best song so far. If only the guitar riff was less repetitive, and the punk vibe was taken up a notch, this could have been a banger. You Cause as Much Sorrow - Back to a slow ballad. Pretty but dull. The drum machine is really distracting. Last Day of Our Acquaintance - zzz I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got - Like listening to grass grow. Night Nurse (bonus) - Had to look this up, as I love the original version. TBF, Sinead's rendition is passable. Final verdict. She has a very good voice and some solid ideas for songs poorly executed. With a more well defined direction, more dynamic instrumentation (human drummer), better mixing and more fleshed out musical ideas, this would be something I'd actually enjoy listening to, but as it stands, I remain a distant and completely indifferent observer.
I do understand a lot of O'Connor's songs are mainly built around the lyrics and what they are about, but that's only one part of a song, and sadly, I usually enjoy the sound of a song before the lyrics, in which these songs really lack for me, even "Nothing Compares 2 U", in which Prince's at least has it's own sound to it. All I could think while listening to this album is "This sounds like if Enya was the lead singer of The Cranberries, which makes sense, considering they all are from Ireland, but I still couldn't shake that feeling, and it made a lot of songs sound like nothing I've heard before. I don't sound too harsh, but literally nothing here was something I cared about, even pushing it below U2. It's just a nothing album for me. Guess I just don't like Irish singers, except the Cranberries.
I only kind of liked 2 of the songs, just not for me.
Meh.
Was never a fan
i really wanted to know what the black lads on mopeds were up to, but i can't fucking stand her voice so i couldn't be arsed to listen long enough to find out. never realised how much i can't stand this whiny bint before having to listen to this.
Complete ass.
She’s Irish and I’m Irish….just not my cup of tea…rather maudlin
Não é meu tipo de música e não gostei de nada
to drony and I found it boring. Really didn't like what I listened to.
"Nothing Compares 2 U" is the best song on the album and it's not even hers (shoutout to Prince). The rest of the album is just garbage. 3/10.
Awful
Bro...
Not good, bad, make it stop.
I only really liked one song. The rest all sounded the same...sad and whiney.
Tedious and jejune. Trying so hard to be agonizingly heartfelt.
Siempre he sido más fan de su voz y su locura de vida que de su música
This was a struggle for me to even get through. I understand what it was going for, but nothing connected with me at all. I couldn’t even finish the last song, which is the namesake of the album. Not really any redeeming qualities for me.
