Nice first pick, obviously an awesome album.

Tricky, I get it, I like it, 3, no… wait, I love it, wait again, do I? Yes. 4. Can’t seem to give it a 5… could it be possible that I’m not cool enough?! Ha ha Wait again again, way better LOUD, at volume 11, or on the swanky headphones. Possibly 4.5 if I could.

Before listening, nostalgia was telling me 4 or 5 star album. With fresh ears I struggled to get through it in one sitting. Some good songs, not a strong album. Hasn’t aged well.

Original 1970(!) LP track listing is great - 5 star, love the live sound, play it LOUD Side one "Young Man Blues" (Mose Allison) – 4:52 "Substitute" – 2:23 "Summertime Blues" (Jerry Capehart, Eddie Cochran) – 3:27 "Shakin' All Over" (Johnny Kidd) – 4:24 Side two "My Generation" – 14:47 "Magic Bus" – 7:50 Later expanded, then deluxe reissues get overwhelming, too much of a good thing, don’t bite off more than you can chew - 4/3 star Not sure which album we are meant to be rating, I’m going with the original.

You want to hate it, but you can’t. So crap it’s good. Feels like a trip to the theatre and a day at a theme park at the same time. Unique, fast moving fun, surprisingly easy album to get through in one sitting. It’ll soon be gone, gone, gone… and you had a great time.

Why did the bongo player go to jail? Because he couldn’t stop beating one out. I like it… for a bit, but that is a very hard album to get through. Incredible amount of bongo. A couple of 4 or possibly 5 star tracks on their own, but as an album as a whole, not great. If I hear any more bongo this week, I think I’ll vomit.

Still confused by Zappa. Am I wasting his time or is he wasting mine?! Would he have been a court jester in another era? I still manage to listen to his albums all the way through though. Same for all Zappa albums for me. Zappa, in another life choose great musician, not mediocre comedian/musician! I suppose somebody had to inspire Weird Al, I hope that isn’t on this list.

mY bLEEDING vESTIBULAR At first, I thought my hifi was broken, then after checking, I realised it must be their instruments or the recording studio. Resonates all wrong with me, uncomfortable listening, almost like bad ASMR… is that a thing? Is that the point?

Heart says more but, sorry Elvis, head says 3. Apart from the 2 obvious great tracks, the rest is big production average country.

A 35 minute long perfect storm of live fun. The King is on it, the backing band is sharp, the crowd are having a great time. I need THIS blues on my island.

Note to self: 1 star = Rated, but shouldn’t exist, a waste of studio time, imo 2 star = Not good 3 star = Ok/Good 4 star = Great 5 star = Desert island disc, there shouldn’t be too many of these! Perfect album length for me around 40mins, if over an hour long it has to be a truly awesome album for me not to subtract a star.

I tried extremely hard to listen to this album without nostalgia creeping in, but difficult. Truly is a great original album though, one that I seem able to listen to in its entirety any time it’s on barely skipping any tracks. If you have hatred for Bono/U2 (…?), forget about that, and just listen. Not quite a 5 though. I think it will be 4.5 in my main app.

Hmmm… want to like it more, but not convinced. Sounds nice, really well produced, but is it missing IT? Have listened before, but have never rushed back. 3.5? Yes, 3.5 in Roon, don’t want to risk losing it forever.

An easy 33 minutes

I tried to mark down to 4 (or 4.5) to differentiate from other Beatles albums and also to not look like a complete fan boy. But, I can’t, I know it inside out… 30 minutes of pure classic early Beatles bliss.
