Honky Tonk Masquerade
Joe ElyMight as well just be one big song about whatever the fuck a honky tonk is
Might as well just be one big song about whatever the fuck a honky tonk is
Not my thing at all, not sure why it’s on this list
Didn’t even realise it had finished and started playing again from the start, says it all
You give me two 17 minute albums in a row and when I complain about it you give me a 3 hour 15 minute monstrosity, I see you 1001albumsgenerator. Very very good voice but it’s not really doing anything for me
Possibly the whitest album I’ve ever heard. The kind of shit people listen to after searching pitchfork for “avant-grade music”. Weirdos.
Some solid writing will listen again
Captain beef heart ripoff
Banger
I’m not smart enough to distinguish between this and elevator music
Inspired, very easy to listen to and get lost in, best version of maggot brain I’ve heard
Full of all the “hits” that people will recognise but then ask you to skip after 30 seconds, repetitive soulless junk.
Didn’t really differentiate between songs
Somewhere between Elliott smith and echo and the bunnymen, it’s not bad but didn’t really grab my attention
Enjoyed it, but a lot of it didn’t grab me
Started off great but kind of tailed off
Classic Dylan, not really my thing
Just seems like run of the mill metal to me
Not really sure why this is in here, mediocre punk
Preferred sticky fingers
A couple of ok tracks when he decides not to rap about getting bitches and “running the game”
It’s good songwriting, just gets a little one dimensional
Bit of a weird album, random jazz influences half way through, title track is a classic
Didn’t really connect with this, nothing stood out
Please no more Leonard cohen
Might as well just be one big song about whatever the fuck a honky tonk is
Some interesting stuff in here, felt fresh but much preferred the songs with he female vocalist, felt a bit samey towards the end
This album is too long for me to listen to but some of it I did listen to was ok
Good songwriting
Nice mix of jazz and funk but tails off after the first song
Couldn’t finish it, noisy and boring at the same time
It’s madness, I’ll come back in 10 years when I’m a 40 year old dad and see if I like it then
Really liked this, need to listen to more of them.
Mostly really good, will relisten to see if I can pick out some of the songs I zoned out for, the guitar riff coming in on money for nothing is great
Soft rock done perfectly, so listenable even if the last few songs fail to make an impression
Screaming just isn’t my thing
Didn’t get anything out of this
Not my thing at all, not sure why it’s on this list
Some solid tunes on here, would listen again
The least interesting Dylan album yet
Not for me, every song sounds the same
Didn’t get into it at all, bland
I don’t know why they chose this album, it’s nowhere near as good as her earlier stuff
Early Coldplay is very good, this album fades a little in the second half though, not quite as good as rush of blood
It’s ok, found myself singing along to quite a bit of it but I don’t remember any of it the next day
Top ten of all time, probably top 5.
Not really sure I took all this in on the first listen, wildly different. Shocking cover of imagine though
Not sure why some of these songs are so popular, dull
Still not sure if this is a pisstake or not
Quite boppy, listened on the way to a stag do so forgot it really, need to relisten
This is just underproduced noise, I’m sure a load of clever people will call it “raw”, no thanks
Never heard of them before, but really like this. Good energy, happy to instantly relisten. 3.5
I don’t really know what this is but I don’t like it
Found it pretty bland on the whole, disorder and shadow play are great though
Some classics on here, 3.5 great production
Really really liked this, will relisten many times
Just a bit weird init
Half of this was really good, other half was unlistenable noise
Listened twice, couple of really nice songs on there will give their other stuff a go, 3.5
Musically very varied and it really shows how they have been influential, but as an album itself I feel some of the songs seem unfinished, rushed
Kraftwerk really isn’t my jam, shitey bleeps and bloops
Didn’t really get much out of this, didn’t grab my attention at all
Bit of an all timer this, they were great before they all found themselves stuck firmly inside Alex Turners arse. 4.5
Not on Spotify, but found it on YouTube. Thought it was going to be a folk album then it changed into more of a post rock shoegazy dreary rock album. Shite tbh
It’s good rock music but very long and not wholly my thing, some interesting blues and jazz influences
Really like this, needs a relisten
Really fun album but not the kind of thing I’d relisten to
Kind of interesting prog stuff but not my bag
Oh look, it’s everyone’s favourite whiny pop rock singalong group! It really is nothing special, Coldplay with attitude
Big fan of yeah yeah yeahs, so original and a great sound. This isn’t anywhere near as good as mosquito but still some great tunes on here and an easy listen
Genuinely don’t know why this is ok here, managed to finish two songs and called it there, and it felt like an achievement to get through them. Shite music, shite genre
Bit artsy and didn’t grab my attention at all
Good, but not many bangers on here. Just good.
As queen goes I didn’t really rate it, they’ve done so much better
Standard Bob, good songwriting. Are all 200 of his albums gonna make this list??
Not my bag fam
I don’t like metal
Dross
Liked the first half, went a bit manic after that
Much prefer btw and sa but this is a real turning point album where you can’t start to hear the transition from funky to melodic, great stuff
I like it but probably because I’m nostalgic
So samey, so long
Sad country music that didn’t really do much for me, revelator is good though
I can’t even remember listening to this but I think it was ok
Songwriting is great, haunting
Liked this which means I’m turning into my dad, probably worth a relisten
I think I like it
I don’t do thrash metal, it’s just noise
Not as bad as I thought it was gonna be, but still not really my genre
No more jazz please
Surprised by the variety, it’s all over the place so not all of it hits but some of it is interesting
A bit too nice, makes it dull
Was alright
Belle and Sebastian make really nice music it just doesn’t quite have the edge or emotion I want from it
Good britpop, some classics on here but was surprised by how much I enjoyed to the end
A bit disappointed with the rest of the album after how good sympathy for the devil is, a bit more bluesy than some of their other albs
Wasn’t really into it, bit niche
Pretty solid 70s rock album, felt fresh will listen again
They make some great music but I don’t really connect with it and bono is a bellend
Last song is weird as fuck
Wild album, actually really liked it but I’m not sure why
Not really my bag but it’s fine
Standard beach house, it’s decent music but it sounds exactly the same as all their other albums
Loved it, this album probably best encapsulates their sound
Very pleasant noises but not something I’ll ever be listening to again
Dopamine hit with every start of every song, absolutely love this album
I do like their songwriting but it always feels like there’s a little something missing, a little squeeze of lime to cut through the fat
Possibly my 2/3 favourite album from them, really starting to develop into more of a melodic sound leaving behind their funk, blends the two perfectly
It’s good but I’m not that big on this kind of rock
I like this album 3.5
Starts well but becomes a bit of a slog towards the end, the harmonies are nice
Just a man rambling over country music 60 years ago
I did like this a lot, needs a relisten. Reservations is a lovely way to finish an album
Listened to this before, starts off really strong but midway through becomes a weird Bjork tribute album and kind of loses its way
The fuck is this? Unsettling amount of weirdos giving this 5 stars, it doesn’t make you interesting to pretend to like this unlistenable shite, just means you belong on a watchlist
Weird album, half of it I enjoyed, half was either uninteresting or just weird
Easy to listen to, didn’t dislike any of it but also didn’t really get into any of it
Worried now because I liked this, dairy is scary
Some great tunes on there and can see how it was really refreshing at the time of release, the filler tracks get a bit tiring though. Solid album 3.5
Don’t know why this is on here really, not sure what the appeal is at all
So many people bum off this album and band, it’s just rap metal where the singer says he wants to kill himself every song, overrated
Didn’t get into this as much as other stones albums on this list
Weird, don’t like his vocals at all but some of the jams could be good I just wasn’t in the right headspace for it
Can’t remember the difference between this and the next one
Think it was ok, can’t remember much
Half of it’s good, half of it seems like run of the mill grunge, I guess people rave about it because it was kind of a fresh sound at the time but it doesn’t do much for me
This was kind of nice, enjoyable as background music but not much more
Absolutely loved this, what a talent
Can’t believe I got through a full hour of this. Absolutely dreadful, no idea why people seem to rate them. I’m actually annoyed at how much praise this pile of shite has got
Banging, liked it all, great energy
Unlistenable
It’s fine background music it’s just not my jam
Just slow country music, not sure what’s special about it
I don’t think we need any more Leonard cohen albums please, especially if he isn’t even going to sing on it
Was ok actually, perfectly easy to listen to
Didn’t even bother, just another hour of jazz
My dad probably likes it, but weird and proggy but some of it is interesting
Just don’t rate hot chip at all, album isn’t cohesive and their Melodie’s don’t slap
Very good, all of the lights is still huge
I still don’t like jazz
I find this genre boring
This was awesome, Clapton is a bellend but this is a fantastic album
This was fine but it didn’t grab me
Fine
Very raw but with a couple of gems such as maps, loved it
It’s nice music but didn’t grab me at all
Wooo yass queens SLAY
Love the concept, some of it’s a bit scatty and some of the vocals are hard to listen to though
Full of so many songs I recognise, did not know they were by the doors. Can see their influence, love it
Liked it more than I did on previous fleet foxes listens, guess it just flows really well as an album. Few songs kind of blended in with the background but there’s some great songs on here
Yeah alright
Bit lively
Full of bangers tbf
Decent, like Bowie
It’s all about free bird really, nothing special about the rest of it
Just another quite good Dylan album, dunno what else to say
Solid enough background music
Everyone bums off this for being experimental and lyrically revolutionary, but at the end of the day I listen to music because my brain tells me it sounds good. This doesn’t sound good.
Actually not bad glam rock
Easy to listen to atmospheric pop, kind of lose interest half way through
Nice music but didn’t grab me
Apparently you need to listen to this album at least 7 times before you start to “get it”. If you think I’m gonna spend 10 hours of my life wanting to rip my ears off my skull just on the off chance I might start to appreciate this train wreck of an album you can fuck right off. Prisoners of war suffered less
Eh
Bit scatty like
Pretty good grungy stuff ye
Bono is an arse but he’s made some good music, this one really tails off second half of the album though
The website threw us this album right after giving us the Joshua tree yesterday, which made the decline even more obvious. I’m not gonna be arsed to listen to you if you’re not even arsed yourself, Bonehead.
Just not anything special is it really
Never really rated this weird Scientologist nutjob
Not as good as the last blur alb I listened to ya know the one with the dog on the cover
Turning into my dad, classics here
Some of it is alright, bit artsy so I can see why a bunch of white people like it
Not their best work but the melody’s as usual are great
I keep trying to get into talking heads but I just can’t, there’s too much going on
I still think this album is massively overrated compared to some of their other work, neon bible and reflektor both better but it’s still got some great songs on there
Decent, decent yeah dunno what else to say not really my jam mate but it was good
Possibly the whitest album I’ve ever heard. The kind of shit people listen to after searching pitchfork for “avant-grade music”. Weirdos.
Actually not bad, lost a bit of energy but enjoyed the first half of the album. Very polished and radio friendly
Easy enough to listen to but I always find depeche mode a bit flat.
Didn’t even realise it had finished and started playing again from the start, says it all
Solid
Decent album, a bit like chic but a touch more commercial
Didn’t really get into it tbh, will have to relisten
Yeah kind of alright, bit screamy in places, like the longer song on there
Refreshing kind of hip hop, just not sure I get how it’s supposed to be groundbreaking, maybe his earlier stuff is
Just eating this so I can see the next alb
No
Orate
Liked this tbf, decent vibes
Vapid generic and soulless, like much of its genre from its time
Sometimes all you need is some 12 bar blues and energy
Good voice aye
I don’t like this kind of music
Didn’t really get in to it
Ok
Didn’t really rate it, slow, uninspired. Old people like walk on the wild side
Stop with this old honkey tonk shite
Dr. Dre? Dr. Eadful more like, an hour of pure shite, why is this on here? Singing about bitches all the time makes you sound dumb
Nowt to shout about apart from welcome to the jungle and sweet child of mine
Quite liked it, will relisten at some point
Yeah mate alright pretty grungy, young Mark Lanegan doing well I see
Just really good music this
Doesn’t do all that much, nice voice but goes down the theatre vocals route too much
Good music thf will listen to more
Soon as I started playing it every single middle aged white woman I know appeared at my front door with a bottle of Prosecco, horrifying. Fernando a banger tho
Not really my bag but there’s a couple of bangers on here
Growing up my dad used to listen to prog rock all the time. I was never a fan of being forced to listen to genesis in the car as a youth but looking back now, and listening to this, I realise that if I grew up being forced to listen K.D. lang I probably would have turned to hard drugs.
Didn’t rate this at all, all sounded the same
Some absolute classics on here but also some killer so only 3 stars sorry eltz
Not really my vibe, not sure why so many people bum them it’s nowt special
Some of it’s alright but his voice is annoying isn’t it
More like beige Jews this is so bland, geezer can’t sing either
17 minutes isn’t an album
Dad used to play blueberry hill in the car all the time, a classic. Again though 17 minutes is not an album
Good old brucey, you know what you’re gonna get, and what you’re gonna get is mediocre with the odd banger thrown in
You give me two 17 minute albums in a row and when I complain about it you give me a 3 hour 15 minute monstrosity, I see you 1001albumsgenerator. Very very good voice but it’s not really doing anything for me
It’s very easy to listen to and I do like a few of the songs, it does seem to lack a bit of edge though. I think it’s the vocals I’m not that into, some songs feel like karaoke
Good album, little bit proggy
Yes now, big album from nick
Not really into this
Background music
3.5
Massive, but I did love it growing up so I’m biased. Probably the last good album before they went off the boil.
Actually liked this a lot more than I thought, maybe I’m getting old. Still a weird Scientologist though isn’t he
Don’t really like jazz
It’s not bad, but I don’t get how he was so hyped
Boring
Really like the vibe, great band and inspired some of my favourite albums
Feel like if this wasn’t John Lennon and it wasn’t the album with imagine on it no one would really pay it any attention
Never rated them highly and this didn’t change it
Another girl, another planet is a banger, the rest is fairly forgettable
Already loved this mess we’re in but hadn’t given the full album a go, really liked it especially the slightly heavier songs, great stuff
I don’t like all of the songs, but the ones I do like I like a lot
Couple of hits at the start but fairly bland otherwise
Exactly what you’d expect a Bob Marley album to sound like
Sort of interesting but at the same time kind of boring which in itself is an achievement
Kind of got to respect it when a band takes a load of drugs and makes something so different to the rest of their catalogue. A lot of this doesn’t work but when it does it’s great
