Get Rich Or Die Tryin'
50 CentI can't think of anything redeeming about this album. It's an hour that I will never get back.
I can't think of anything redeeming about this album. It's an hour that I will never get back.
I'm beginning to wonder who chose these albums to listen to before you die. I didn't expect to like every album but hoped to at least get an idea of why people liked different genres or thought particular artists were the best thing in the world. There are some albums that have done this to me but then there are albums like this. I didn't listen to this back in the day and I can't imagine I would ever listen to this album by choice again. It isn't bad (unlike some albums by my favourite artists) but it is just so dull.
Not a bad album but not a top 1001 album. If you want to listen to an average indie album just pick one at random.
Thought I'd start listening to some new music through this site rather than the same old albums and genres. My plan for 2023 and beyond is to listen to 1 of these albums a day until complete. I loved Cream and Blind Faith but never really looked any further into Ginger Baker's output. This album is a great listen but as I was working it was turned down quite low - time to listen to it again cranked up a bit. I've not listened to this genre before but when it finished Spotify played some similar music and I think I might explore it bit more widely.
This album needs no listening, a staple from my days at school, university and beyond. This is a fantastic album and is peak Sabbath with the whole band being on top form. Some great heavy tracks like Wheels of Confusion, Snowblind and Tomorrow's Dream through to the delightful ballad that is Changes and instrumental Laguna Sunrise and not forgetting Supernaut that has been rejuvenated through Iron Man.
Quite an average album for me, listened to it a couple of times - I wouldn't turn it off it it came on again in rotation but nothing to really engage me.
A great album and it doesn't sound over 40 years old. A reminder of how much fun and inventive music used to be. Couldn't help putting it on again to listen to as I enjoyed it so much
A fantastic album from start to finish with great contributions from people like David Crosby and Graham Nash on Free Man in Paris and Robbie Robertson on Raised on Robbery. If you love Joni Mitchell you will love this album, if you've not listened to Joni before you really should listen to this, and if you don't like Joni I'd suggest one more listen to this album.
A couple of good tracks on the album, The Message brings back good memories and the first few tracks were interesting to listen to as a change to the music I normally listen to. I lost interest about halfway through and turned it off; I don't think I'll be listening to it again.
I don't think there was anything that I liked on this album but I can't bring myself to give it a 1 :(
No duff tracks on this album with some absolute classics like Wild Horses and Brown Sugar. What's not to like about this album
I can't think of anything redeeming about this album. It's an hour that I will never get back.
Wow, what a debut album! This has some of Sabbath's best tracks on it - the title track, The Wizard and NIB Give your ears a treat and put this on. LOUD!!!!
A lovely album - reminiscent of so many other artists and tracks. Surprised I've never heard of them before
I knew the hits of this album from the radio but have never listened to Joan Armatrading - I'm sold, this album was great and she has a beautiful voice. It's to hear albums like this that I joined the project
More bluesy and less commercial than their better-known tracks, this is ZZ Top on form.
Great album, great memories
Not for me and surprised this is on the list
What an album and even more amazingly their debut album.
The title says it all, this album is Bad in the real sense of the word. I'd never listen to this album by choice in the first place and found no enjoyment from it. It needs to stay in the past.
Didn't really listen to the Smiths back in the day but there are some great tracks on here.
Not for me thanks.
Not an easy album to listen to, there were some tracks that were ok but I doubt I'll ever put this on again
What an album from the opening note of Good Times Bad Times through to the final notes of How Many More Times this album is fantastic. The driving rhythm section of JPJ and Bonham, Page's guitar Plant's vocals are spot on throughout. Listen to this and listen to it loud, your ears will thank you
This album sums up jazz totally for me, a number of great musicians playing in a band but all playing different tunes. I'd love to get into jazz but despite trying numerous times it still grates on me. I won't give this a 1 as I'd rather listen to this than some of the other albums but if I ever play it again it will be by mistake.
Some great tunes but not my cup of tea
I enjoyed listening to this but unlikely to be spinning it again.
Anita Baker has a fantastic voice but I find this type of music just so boring and has nothing to grab me.
I'm not a big fan of Grateful Dead but I've had this album for a few years and it comes out every so often. Some of their best tracks on this album
Dull as ditch water to me. Musical beige
What a great album from start to finish. Never listened to them before but this will be the start of listening to them.
I really enjoyed this album, her voice is amazing and it's great to hear some different beats and languages.
Meh - wasn't bothered then, not bothered now
Not even going to bother listening to this. Very few albums with the explicit content warning have been listenable to so I won't waste any more of my time on them
I expected to like this but it didn't really hit the mark. So many other psychedelic bands did it better and with more memorable songs.
a beautiful album full of cracking songs
Parental Lyrics advisory = 0 points Not wasting my time
Vincent and American Pie lift this album up.
So different from the more well known tracks. I really enjoyed this
Utter crap - should have followed my rule of no Parental Advisory stickers!
Wow! I wish I'd heard this album earlier
beautiful album
I joined this to find music & genres that I'd never listened to before. I've heard 2 Fela Kuti albums now, love them both and they are now in my vinyl rotation. Definitely exploring thus genre further.
Really enjoyed this album - some of it is quite britpoppy and some is a bit more spaced out.
I'd give this 2.1 to keep in line with the album title. Adele has a beautiful voice but this album is so bland it could have been called magnolia
What a great album!
Ella has a great voice and the songs are great but not for me.
It's easy to say this album isn't as good as some of the older REM albums but it is still a classic and has some cracking tracks on it. I bought it on the day it came out and it is still in heavy rotation
I think I must have no soul. I can appreciate his voice but it does nothing for me and I find it quite dull.
Not an easy album to listen to or like. I had expected to like this album and was so disappointed and probably why no-one had ever recommended it to me. I think with a different singer I would have rated this album much hight
Not listening

I often used to discuss new bands and albums with a good friend of mine and he often replied with it's ok but either Stevie Wonder or Steely Dan had done that only much better. This album is full of great tracks, ok Isn't She Lovely is a bit cheesy, but that is far outweighed by Sir Duke and Contusion. This is an album you should definitely listen to
I don't need to listen to this album before I die.
Great album that I wouldn't have listened to without this site suggesting it. I need this on vinyl!
Not a bad album but I can't see myself ever listening to it again but I would go and see them if they were playing local.
Didn't expect this to be my cup of tea only knowing Without You but totally blown away by it. I have to go, I need to put this on again
Sound like any 1 of a hundred albums.
U2 have some good tracks but I can't listen to them for more than a couple of tracks in a row
Jazz, nice Not my cup of tea though
What can you say about Bat out of Hell? It's loud, cheesy and it is fantastic. There isn't a bad track on this album and I know that having listened to this over the weekend I'll be singing it for weeks. Put it on and put it on loud - rock out and love it for it's corniness!
Not for me. This music might be great fun in the most pit but not at home
I enjoyed this album a lot more than I expected to, will I listen to it again? probably not but I wouldn't turn it off. Highlight for me was War Pigs
Very enjoyable listen with such a 60s pop vibe to it. There are probably other better bands and albums from the period but I enjoyed it and nearly 60 years ago I can imagine it would have got a lot of air time.
More accessible to me than most of the jazz albums I've heard. I'm going to start listening to this regularly to see if I can get more into it. Chameleon and Sly were the highlights for me but Vein Melter just sounded like a bit of ambient music.
Another album that makes you question this list.
A really good album, takes me straight back to the 80s.
This album passed me by when it was released and will pass me by now. There are much better examples of this genre
Really refreshing to hear this after a long time, not their best but it still rocks
I love the Beatles this isn't my favourite album.
I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed this album back in the day. Not enough albums have a single track taking up a whole side these days.
Possibly would have liked this when I was a teenager and I can imagine they are great when you are in the moshpit but it's not something I will ever listen to again
Interesting album and given its age it sounded great. Again, not sure I'd listen to it again
A great album
Love this album.
I love Ute's voice and the other artists on this album are amazing but in all it doesn't quite do it for me
A fantastic album from start to finish.
I can appreciate why this album is on this list and I wanted to like it but it did nothing for me
Much of a muchness - plenty of albums that are similar or better than this
Not my favourite SW album but still better than most other albums
Not for me thanks.
Total shite - if I could score lower than 1 I would.
Very little can be said about this album that hasn't been said a thousand times already. From the opening beats of Speak to me to the final notes of eclipse this album is 5*
I remember when this album was everywhere after the Nelson Mandela tribute concert and at the time I didn't see the fuss about it. It's one of those albums where you know someone else has already done it only better. I gave it another go but to me it is 11 tracks that are all pretty similar, there's nothing here to keep me gripped
What a great concept - more bongoes!
Part of taking this challenge was to listen to albums and genres I wouldn't pick but choice but the more I listen to jazz the more I realise that I will never like it. To my ears this sounds like cheesy background music
Great album
No thanks
Love this album but it doesn't quite match up to the previous albums and would probably have been better as a single album
A strange album, I really enjoyed some tracks but yet another double album that could have been a good single album Nice to hear the Bee Gees before disco
A good album that brought ZZ Top to the notice of a lot of people but they have much better albums
I will never get the fuss over Mr Brightside - I can never remember how it actually goes.
Such a great album
It's a no from me.
I just don't get jazz. I can listen to a couple of minutes and then I just want to listen to something else.
Probably their finest album
Really enjoyed this in a background type of music way but unlikely to put it on again
I didn't enjoy their music in the 80s and I still don't.
Ruined by Mother (unlike The Wall)
A fantastic album and one of my favourites. Candle in the wind though has been ruined forever by the schmaltzy version that was recorded for Diana.
Not a bad album but not a top 1001 album. If you want to listen to an average indie album just pick one at random.
This is what I came here to hear. A totally new genre, I doubt I'll ever listen to it again but I can see why some people would
I've realised I don't dislike Morrissey as much as I disliked the people that like him back in the day.
Not my favourite Prince album.
Sorry, it's a no from me
No thanks
Some real bangers on this album
I like Queen, probably the best live gigs I've ever been to but to me they are a greatest hits band. Some great tracks on here but a lot of it passes me by
I understand why this is loved but as many have said not sure why a live album is included here
I quite like this genre but as with many albums on this list I'm not sure why this album is on here. She has many better albums
No bothering to listen
That was an beautiful album, I will definitely listen to this again and more from Nina
Great album, could definitely listen to more like this
Once again I'm not one of the masses.
I really didn't expect to rate this one so highly, I'd heard bits of it back in the day and didn't really enjoy it but now I can appreciate what a fun album this is.
A beautiful album transitioning away from S&G.
One of Bob Dylan's finest
One of the greatest albums ever
I really enjoyed this album but I'm not sure it is one to listen to before I die although I obviously have
Would love to rate this but I can only find the title track on Spotify
Would this be here if it weren't for Damon, I doubt it,
Amazing!
A really good, fun album with a great variety of tracks.
Beautiful
Why is this album something that I should listen to before I die. I wouldn't want to listen to this again if it delayed my death by 10 years.
Unfortunately I can easily leave U2 behind.
Not too bad, I knew a fair number of the tracks but wouldn't have known who they were by.
Great memories listening to this album. The Police had some great tracks but it's a shame about Sting.
Really enjoyed listening to this, can't say I was ever a fan in the past but some happy times remembered listening to this. Probably won't listen again but wouldn't say no
The biggest trouble with this list is that music is very much about the context in which it is listened; I did enjoy this much more than I thought but I'm sure if I was sitting in a tropical setting with my wife, a pina colada and able to swing my hips I'd enjoy it a lot more than listening in an office in Devon while it is pissing down outside.
Some albums you put on and they make you sit up and listen because they really grab your attention and you either love it or hate it. Unfortunately this one just played on and there was nothing in it to grab me. I really wonder who puts these lists together, is the top 500 albums ever by sales and then 500 that they bought because they were in the cheap bin?
Fantastic, finally found some jazz I can enjoy
My housemate at uni loved Joy Division and I wouldn't let him play it on my hifi. I was in two minds about listening to this and wondered whether I would realise I had been missing out on something for the last 35 years. I wasn't; this album is as bad as I thought it was back in the 80s. I've no idea why Joy Division are held in such high regard, maybe it is a live band thing. I'll try listening to this in 35 years time to see if I've changed my mind but sincerely doubt it.
Absolutely nothing bad about this album except it finishes
Not bad, a slight hint of having heard a lot of the tracks before though
This album was brilliant - in being very short. Won't need to listen to it again
I didn't expect to like this but strangely I did.
A solid album
It's a no from me I'm afraid
another average indie album
No thank you
The Icelandic eat fermented shark and presumably like that too. There's little reason to listen to this other than to say you have. Glad I didn't waste money on buying it.
I love them and have seen them live, with Freddie, a couple of times but I think Queen are a Greatest Hits band rather than an album band.
I briefly listened to maiden back in the day and had forgotten how good this album is.
I can't imagine why you would listen to something like this other than to give yourself some sort of headache. There were moments in there that I thought I liked it but in the end I couldn't continue listening to it
Another why is this in here albums
buttery smooth but this album does nothing for me one way or the other.
Quite liked Heard it on the grapevine but tbh the rest is shite
Tori Amos is obviously very talented, I can appreciate this album but I can't listen to her for very long
One of my favourites from the Beatles. I even like Maxwell's Silver Hammer!
Not bothering to listen to this
What can I say about this album that hasn't been said. It's a masterpiece and thoroughly deserves 5 stars
It always surprises me how much I actually enjoy Morrissey when I actually listen to it,
Quite a nice easy listen. I'll give it 3 but probably really a 2.5
I love some BB tracks but let's be honest they pretty much all sound the same.
It's a no from me
Surprisingly enjoyable but not sure it is a listen to before you die album
Too much of a racket for me
A fantastic album and a great comeback after the death of Bon Scot Listen to this and listen loud!!!
This is an amazing album, for so long unavailable but I think it is Neil Young’s finest
Having read the reviews I didn't know what to expect but I quite like this album. I started listening to this list to find music that I wouldn't normally listen to and this is exactly what I wanted to find. I doubt I'll listen to it again but I wouldn't reach over to turn it off
Didn’t expect to like this but strangely enjoyed it
I will never listen to this album again but it is exactly the sort of different music I hoped to find when I joined this list. Some tracks were fun but I can’t imagine I will ever bother to listen again
I think this album needs more than 1 listen through to get into it. I
cool album - will listen to again
Fun and I enjoyed it, I get there might be other better Indian or Bollywood albums but as something to get you into listening it is probably bang on!
Stuck on what to give this album, to me it isn’t bad but it just doesn’t do it for me despite the first few tracks being pretty good. I don’t like U2 and this album won’t change that
I live for the day that I find a jazz album that I like enough that it leads me down the slippery slope to liking jazz. Unfortunately today wasn’t that day.
Some good tracks but a band that is much better live than on vinyl
I would give this 3.5 if I could, slightly better than average but not up with some of the 4 stars
