Reviews (page 15 of 15)

This band is not as good as people make them out to be. The music on this album is either grindy or bland with no inbetween.

Out of respect for the friends I have who love Radiohead, I will not comment about this album.

Right out of the gate this is AWFUL! Bullshit kid's Casio keyboard tones with whiney androgynous vocals. There is minimal improvement as this progresses, but the vocals will 100% destroy my enjoyment of this every time. The jump from style to style is abrupt and jarring. It seems senseless, sometimes happening mid-song. The whole thing just feels SO pretentious, like Thom is under the impression he's writing another Abby Road. Probably doesn't need to be said, but he didn't.

Awful. Based on this album, I would only conclude Radiohead is terrible. Seriously though- how can this be the same band that came up with “The Bends”?

I don't get the fuss. This was not fun to listen to.

Scott Tennorman still must die, and Radiohead blows

4 songs in, its not memorable. Singing is quiet annoying, drums once in a while actually interesting. Songs seem chaotic and not well arranged.

This is abysmal

jsem velice neunešen...

This album is considered top 100 best by Apple Music. This album is a bunch of synth garbage. Radiohead had one decent song. It’s not on this album. How do people listen to this crap? How do you actually actively listen to this? How do you be present in this? It’s absolute trash. No stars if I could give it that. 1001 album worthy: Hell no - 21/37

people that like this have a septum piercing and think they have the hardest life in the world because mum found their cigarettes

What a boring album. Never liked Radiohead and I still wasn’t convinced after listening to it.

Nope. Still think it's complete shite. What's the modern equivalent of everyone buying an album to put in their CD collection to look cool in case friends came over, but never actually listen to the thing. Radiohead hate streaming. But probably love vinyl collectors too.

ugh... nooit geweten wat mensen goed vonden aan radiohead (behalve dan misschien 'creep')... zowat het muzikale equivalent van langzaam aan toezien hoe iemand met een roestig en bot mes je testikels verwijdert, zonder verdoving

I thought my HIFI system was broken. Forza Juve.

boring as fuck!

Auf jeden Fall sehr experimentell

I've tried to get into Radiohead and I like some of their music, but this record misses the mark by a wide margin for me.

Hated this 🫶🏻

That was a chore

They say dogs can smell fear. I think they can also smell pretentiousness. My dog got up and left the room partway through the second song of this album and didn’t come back in until the album was over. I would have liked to join her.

Not a Fan

Not really digging this, bit to slow for my liking. They drone on a bit, managed to make it to the end, but it’s one boring album.

I simply don’t understand the fascination

Langweiliges Gedudel!

Didn't enjoy. Very flat and lifeless.

I’ve never really got Radiohead and this didn’t help. Never really gets going. Sounds like a series of jam sessions that somehow got turned into an album. Poor.

Words fail me, this must be the moment Radiohead finally stuck their glockenspiel up their arse. Its weird ambient vibe made me angry, maybe that's what they wanted. Possibly the most overrated band in history. They peaked with Creep but somehow got enabled by their weird fans to churn out this twaddle for decades.

NO chance. Radiohead awful

*Enter a slender dark-haired man with a neat goatee, wearing a suit and carrying a box with a large red button on the top* Him: "Good day, sir. I hear you consider yourself a bit of a 'music nerd'. Well, I have a proposition for you. If you hit this button, you will have to pay a dire price. Every music nerd's favorite band, Radiohead, will be erased from the very fabric of existence. Radiohead's music, with its diverse influences from electronic music, ambient music, krautrock, jazz and 20th-century classical music, will be gone! You will never again hear their songs featuring modular synthesisers, the ondes Martenot, brass and strings, processed guitar sounds, samples and loops, and impersonal and abstract lyrics sung by Thom Yorke. All music they ever created will be gone from the world and from everyone's memories. It will be as if Radiohead never existed, forever! Ha, ha ha. However, if you can live with this terrible cost, you will receive-" Me: *hits button* Him: ". . . dude, what the hell? You didn't even wait to hear what you would get?! Jesus, 'OK Computer' is gone now! That is like a top ten album for me. Why did you do that!? You were supposed to be eaten up by the terrible cost you would have to pay to receive my boon. That is messed up. A lot of very sad people really loved that band." Me: ". . ." Him: "I mean, I get being willing to pay the price, but you didn't even weigh it against the benefit. I was going to offer you something incredible, but think about what you just did. 'Kid A' is gone. Rolling Stone, Pitchfork and the Times ranked it the greatest album of the 2000s, and in 2020 Rolling Stone ranked it number 20 on its updated list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. 'Amneisiac', 'Hail to the Thief', 'In Rainbows', 'The King of Limbs', 'A Moon Shaped Pool', all gone! This is so-" Me: *hits button again*

# 251 : I dislike Radio head and can't understand why people do. Have the people that rate something 5 stars, actually listened/read/watched what they are rating?

Can't touch OK Computer. I liked this better when Richard D James did it.

Deeply, deliberately, unfriendly to listen to. Accordingly I didn't like it, although apparently a lot of people do. No thanks.

This listener was excited to get a Radiohead album; however, this "Kid A" quickly and utterly disappointed. Pretentious and amelodic, this experimental "rock" album is obscure and difficult to stomach.

Flaming turd

I fucking hate radiohead. This album only reminds me how much I hate radiohead.

Sopivan lyhyt, ihan kivaa atmosfääriä mutta… tylsä

So grumpy. One or two memorable songs but otherwise it's too dour. Only for die hard Radiohead fans.

I like music that sounds good, doesn't even sound

Their older stuff was way better. Sounds like the drugs affected him a lot in this album.

This is perhaps the most "Radiohead-y" album of theirs i've heard. Glad people like them for me is like a parody of music. Calling tracks "The national anthem" & "The Motion icture Soundtrack" when there's no anthem nature at all is I'm certain arty but does not make listenable music.

Not great. Very boring. Radiohead was never my cup of tea outside of “creep” but this just further solidified they are not the band for me!

This album made me want to shut it off but I endured it until the bitter end. Boring

Full of shit, I didn't even like a single song.

This was a shit album. I wanted to bash my head against the desk just to make it stop.

No thank you - too depressing, especially on a Friday morning

Awful. Just awful. There are only two songs on this entire album. The rest of the tracks are concepts or fragments or dead air. It’s not creative, they just put in no effort. I can’t believe the record company accepted this as a finished album. Sounds like some art school student didn’t do his music theory homework and just submitted what he had. If I could give this a negative score, I would. Worst album so far, and that’s saying alot considering some of the bullshit this list has subjected me to.

Annoying singing

Enough to send you down to the Rickety Stool and Rope shop.

Awful. I know people love this album but I just don’t get it. To each their own.

Probably need to be stoned to enjoy it. :/

Not for me thank you

The weirdest thing I've ever heard in my life. A mix salad made of leftovers.

If there were such a things as an alternative music spa, they would have this on repeat... I found it so boring.

Radiohead are the worst. Pretentious little public school twats.

I was never a fan of Radiohead, I guess I never did enough drugs to appreciate their unique sound. It’s like someone started at Pink Floyd, dropped a couple of hits of acid, washed down with some Jacks and then started to compose music. I thought maybe now older and more introspective I could appreciate it - but I was wrong. I could only manage about 75% of the way through before I had to stop listening, it was a struggle and an unrewarding one.

Definitely not my groove, only "liked" 2 or 3 songs

Listened to this on Monday Jan 15 AKA "Blue Monday", cheers. Although in fairness this album would still be shite on any day of the year, what happened to Radiohead after OK Computer??

Not my fav.

The first song was 4 min of what should have been a 20 second intro. The second song is also crap. I guess this is music, but I can't understand any lyrics and it sounds like something AI would create as a backing. If the rest of the album is like this, wow. Third song at least brought some horns in to make it interesting. But its still some sort of dreamy, wandering, unintelligible noise for the most part. Do people really like this? Fourth song. I looked up the title to make sure I was where I thought I was. Interestingly, this is the song that I would apply to the album so far. Could I make it disappear completely? Fifth song. More dreamy shizz to start. I thought they had guitars in Radiohead. Sixth song. Yes! Finally a song that I can enjoy. Best on the album so far. Seventh song. I think he's saying something about living in a fantasy. Which is really the theme of this crappy attempt at music. There might be a point to this that goes beyond my feeble attempt. I just like stuff that sounds good to me. And this does not. Eighth song. I'm clearly not a Radiohead fan, but I thought this was a band. I really think this is just the main dude and a bunch of computers. God I need this to end soon. This one is really noisy. Ninth song. There was a part in this song that sounded ok to my ears. The rest no. I think he fired his band. Tenth song. More dreamy nonsense. Again, I might not like Radiohead. Unless they got way, way better. And different. How is this particular album in the top 1000 albums that have ever been made? Eleventh song. Second best because it ended quickly. In summary, I will never, ever listen to this album again. It may also lead me to never, ever listen to Radiohead again. It may become catalogued as auto-skip. This was really, really terrible.

*National Anthem sounds like the very first day of band class in 5th grade when no one has any idea how to play their instruments yet and they're waiting for the instructor to show up so everyone's just playing random shit and it sounds like chaos. * treefingers is a really nice song but is out of place in the monstrosity of noise that this album is. there's no in between on this album, the song is either aggressively weird or just kinda meh. overall idk why anyone felt this was an album that NEEDED to be heard before i die. i hated it :)

I don't like that at all. It's pretty boring.

Not for me. Feels pretentious. I just don’t like this. It’s frustrating and unenjoyable.

Well this really sucks because Radiohead has now entered into my random plays on Spotify. Listen, I tried several albums, I've tried the random plays and I've even gone back and listened to the one song I thought I liked, Creep. Now I hate that that song too. The last 3 albums have been hurtful to my ears, but I did see Them Dirty Roses and OC/DC last week, so this terrible stuff has been offset with some music I enjoy very much. I'm done with Radiohead. I'm done with Bob Marley. I'm done with Neil Young. Now I need to learn how to keep all this off my Spotify account. Another thank you to Neil for pulling all his stuff so I don't have to worry about him. Back to this album. Not for me. Won't ever be for me. 1

Hate it

I genuinely don't understand the hype around this band, everything I've heard is bad or below average. There were not positives on this album for me except recognizing Frank Ocean sampled like 10 seconds of the intro of one song. One of the worst albums I've ever heard.

Did not like it at all

I'm only two songs in and these things suck bad. The song titled "kid a" just not pleasant at all. "National Anthem" The only thing going for this song is a good beat track. This song has no idea what it's doing. So many random little noises at the beginning. Then the lyrics kick in and do nothing for the song. Then for some reason brass instruments which do not work for me at all. Okay now we have a random sounds competing for your attention none of them coherent except to beat track behind it all that's pretty decent. I think I'm starting to see a theme and how inclusion in the "1001 albums" works. This one is important to help people understand just how terrible Radiohead is. "How to disappear completely". I'm not here. This is not happening. -yeah I'm in denial too. I can't believe this is real. Someone recorded this deliberately?! Optimistic- is an actual song you... could potentially like this song maybe. I am noting this at a point where the song isn't over. There's a late switch that sounds like it's different song... In limbo: another song where it sounds like the parts were recorded separately and then paste it together without regard to well the overall song. Idiotech- had to skip this one the noises were really grating on my eardrums. I bet you could take any random 8-year-old and have them make a music album and it would sound better than this. In fact rather than that have two random 8-year-olds make albums and then mix them together at random and it would sound better than this album. In retrospect national anthem being one of the three worst songs on this album still has the only positive redeeming feature of this album and that is a good beat track.

I have zero tolerance for Radiohead.

I really want to like RadioHead. I really do. And I keep trying. It’s mostly just noise and I really want to find the genius so many others do, but I guess it’s just not for me aside from a few songs.

Using discordant tones to build suspense is one thing. An entire album that sounds like an elephant sitting on a keyboard is another.

Not great. Good story but don’t enjoy the sound and all over the place.

Super trash I feel like the developer of this website only wanted it here

Depressingly melancholic vocals to overrated and uninteresting musical arrangements... I just don't get why people rate these guys.... but don't karma police after me for saying that.

Not my favorite. Did not really strike a chord with me, nothing memorable about it. Didn't feel the urge to like any of the songs while they were playing. Sounded very experimental.

Virkelig kedeligt - han jamrer for meget

Fuck, not another Radiohead album.... This is my third one (second one in a week). Thom has apparently decided for this album to just make spacey boop beep and zap noises with shit tons of reverb, and moan into a microphone (which he is so famous for doing), creating a terrible racket. I spent this whole record waiting for something to happen, waiting for any signs of life at all...nothing. Not a fucking thing happened in 47 minutes. The song Treefingers is literally just almost 4 minutes of reverb... Nothing else.... Overall, this album was complete garbage. Why the fuck does Radiohead get more than 1 fucking album on this list anyways? Just goes to show how skewed this generator is to British trash. Favourite songs: Optimistic... I guess... Least favourite songs: this whole shitty album 1/5

Not my style of music.

forgot it was on

In Apples top tracks there isn't a single track from kid A. Why? Because it's shit. 'everything' is ok

The Wizard of Oz had a yellow brick road, Dorothy, travelling buddies, and encouraging affirmations to sing so the journey was less painful ... Instead, Radiohead listeners WANT the pain. Exhibit A: their most popular track is “Creep” , which soars in beautifully articulated self disposing teen-like shame pain. A quick ‘taste’ is enough for most. So, this is exhibit B: An entire album about a protagonist suffering from severe anxiety and social isolation, unable to get the contact and joy they seek. A bit like that bit in Pilgrims Progress, where, weighed down by his Burden (his own filth and shame literally strapped to his back), the protagonist sinks into the Slough of Despond. If you want, this album can take you there. To that feeling. And it sounds so screeching and grating, others will close the door so you can be really alone with it. So don’t listen to this. Look for the metaphorical steps. Climb out. Seek help., Yes a purpose in life it to learn to adaptively LEAN IN to your own pain, and not always seek comfort, if you’re to grow. But sitting and listening to this is just depressing. So what is the attraction of Radiohead ? Why is this pain enjoyable? Does it feel deserved. Is the illusion that diving in you come out the bottom, stronger? On the other hand, researching the musically influences for this album led me to re-find some excellent ambient techno from last century (“we are the music makers”). So its not all bad. Why its hear? Because serious muso seem to like it. Is it art? Yes. Do I like it? No. Especially the voice. And the music. Rating 1.

Radiohead sucks and this album is terrible.

Usually a fan, but this seemed to experimental for me

Ufff no lo soporto (PSP)

muy indie para mi gusto

Pablo Honey is a good album. OK Computer is a good album. Never understood the love for Kid A.

Just sounded like weird soundtrack music

Blorps

hated it!

I loved all of their previous albums, but this is the one where they lost me. Give me songs, not soundscapes.

I remember not being interested in this album when it came...sat down and put on the first track "Everything in It's Right Place" and thought what was wrong with me? AND then, I listened to the rest of the album...I stand by my original sentiment. I love OK Computer, but this...nope.

Nearly fell asleep on the M25 listening to this

Terrible!

Personal preference. I have never liked Radiohead, so listening to any album again is an exercise in futility.

Definitely talented but not impressed by this album compared to the others

Weird album after sever good ROCK albums.

Couldn't even finish. The last 2 tracks will remain a welcome mystery.

Lots of dissonance that was in no way pleasing. This album is very cohesive. Cohesively bad.

Radiohead is so annoying

I listened to this album years ago and never got it, seemed like pretentious, 'look how deep we are' rubbish. I will try to keep an open mind this time. Everything In Its Right Place - ok song, wouldn't choose to listen to it casually though. (It was in Vanilla Sky which has a sick sound track) Kid A - I liked this until the last minute just became a mess of noise How To Dissapear Completely - nice song. Oblivion - Best song so far but still just unremarkable. Idioteque - This is the one from this album I liked. I'm probably less into it now then I used to be. I essentially just zoned out and stopped paying attention for the rest of the album. I still think it's boring and 'deep-sounding' for the sake of it.

Didn’t really like it, mostly random sounds on a beat with minimal lyrics

It's sort of a pity that I lack the ability to appreciate music of this sort. It's too "new"/"modern" to me.

Never again

bored to tears. kinda liked idioteque.

I have nothing to say that hasn't already been said about this album; this album was massively influential to me in my teens and opened the door for more experimental music, which I followed the trails of left by from the people that made this album from interviews, articles, etc. Coming back to it today I still absolutely love it and I even have a really nice 4 vinyl pressing of it that sounds absolutely stunning that I only pull out once in a while in fear of wearing the grooves out and destroying that delicate and pristine sound. Radiohead are by no means the most experimental or thought provoking band out there, but their more experimental explorations are greatly and widely lauded by people you wouldn't even expect for a good reason. It's one thing to be successfully experimental and it's a whole other thing to be successfully experimental yet still accessible without diminishing the quality of the idea being manifested. My favorite track on here has always been In Limbo, and I wouldn't have a clue to explain why I love it so much. Every track on here a total slap and is the only Radiohead album I feel this way about. Mandatory listening.
