The melodies on this thing are amazing. Layers of sound. Harmonics. God only knows is obviously fantastic but all the songs except maybe John Sloop B hit. Love the melancholic mood that fills this album.
Coming in pretty blind. Heard a few songs at bars and the like but never got round to listening to them despite it being the seminal album of many of my university friends. Album starts well enough with an instrumental but I have always found the vocals a little off putting. The album is long. Very very long. It's filled with lighter numbers but it's generally pretty heavy. The riffs very in quality. There is a good song or bit here and there but I found it largely a total drag.
Due to copyright law changes albums like this are hard to find. Massive amount of samples with great beats and energy. A classic for sure. Would get a 5 but it suffers from a few too many tracks breaking up the tempo a bit.
Twangling guitars mid tempo tracks. Easy listening and inoffensive. Bit boring tho. Not my type of music.
Loads of jams in this. Very stonery. This opens up great. Blues influenced. Janis stretched vocals hit hard but are quite stretched. This can't be good for her throat. Riffs are top. Was a fun time capsule.
Previously not knew of my favourite Radiohead albums but on revisiting I have come to love the ambient interludes. The whole thing works perfectly as a tonal piece. Lovely
Well what an opening crazy energy. Crushing hellish messy aesthetic. Overall the album mixes fantastic freak outs with decent thrashy/sludgy music and then nauseating experiments and jokes.
Poppy and a fun album.
Annoying stretched vocals. Very clean tracks. There is some funk and rap like parts. Something that 90s bands would later perfect. After the first 3 tracks that were really hard to get through the record becomes less cringe. But it's still drap and it dips into cringe. The album feels so long.
Christ this is cringe rock. Perfectly fun after a couple of cans at a bar and some interesting and the production is good at points. Never knew how straight cheese rock lots of their songs are. Didn't have fun with this one.
Fine easy going jazz. Smooth and fun.
Very enjoyable chill album. Very easy to listen to the lyrics.
There's some great songs here. Particularly in the latter half. But I find this reasonably boring compared to her later stuff. Just instrumentally less fun and less space.
A low 3 for me. Filled with gothy r&r takes never quite goes beyond appearing like a bit of a novelty act for me.
The last three tracks are amazing. Never listened to blue and was quietly impressed. A strong 4 this.
Beats on the thing are fun and good. Lyrics mixed. Fun enjoyable listen.
Really inventive and creative with some great songs. But seems a bit bloated for me.
Like the folks stuff and the opening track was very promising. The clean production takes away a lot however. Ok. Fun.
Pixies first. Where is my mind is a classic. Very spacious production on the full album. They go on to make better things.
Endlessly relaxed jazz infused singersongwriting. Songs ebb and flow creating his own magical world
Complex and ambitious. Lovely layers and motifs connecting the album. Maybe a touch bloated/overbearing but the ambitious vision and good vibrations makes this a strong 4.
I can see this as a mid way point between contemporary and old school r&b. Very interesting.
This was a fun funky fee number. With bongos.
Very fun. Some great jams on this. Fun album goes so quickly
Getting go-betweens ad less flattering Crowded house vibes. Maybe a bit a the the. Super clean but poorly dated production. Some good bits but far too clean for my liking. Mehh not for me!
Jailbait is er questionable. Generally the songs are listenable with good sonic textures.
Scrappy lofi indie rock. Starts strongly but drops. Not my favourite of them.
So good tracks. Some dull tracks.
Most tracks have a really nice groove going. Enjoyed this one.
Love the raw production on the album. Was a treat.
Runaway is perfection. Samples from all over the place. Love a bit of king crimson in there. Annoyingly good from a personality who is often insufferable.
Needs to be played loud. Raw and distinctive. Unique Tearz and Cream are fantastic. There are a few songs where O drift. But clearly a classic
Fun little album.
2 stars but wind Up is a banger so 3.
Mixed bag. Some twee weird stuff and some bangers. OK. Was expecting more as a fan of the velvet and the singles.
Some bright moments otherwise long and a bit drab
Bit cheesy but good fun!
For tomorrow and blue jeans are good. Not sure about the rest.
Some good tracks on here. Butoverstays it's welcome. Loved it at the time but in retrospect its not a memorable experience.
Some good tracks in this. But not generally my vibe.
Went down nice and easy. Decent.
Behind the wheel and other bangers. A more low key affir then some of their stuff.
The songs are layered buzzing pieces. The production on the other hand has aged poorly. Still this is a very fun listen if you can get beyond the dated production.
Chill thinking Qunatic maybe a bit better. This clips with relaxing 'electronica' nice!
While some if his singles are decent never got into Micheal Jackson and this hasn't done it either.
Way to long bunch if funk rock infused jams. Which has been done better before and since. The album was just long tedious and repetitive.
In offensive soft jazzy flourishes. Unmemorable.
All bangers no real filler in it. If I needed someone, I'm looking through you are highlights.
Chill music that makes you relax and enjoy your day and work. A classic
Title track good. Otherwise.. well its a soundtrack.
Mumble core underworld with another album with a mixture of good instrumental driven and not so good vocal driven tracks.
First half is a bit meh but wow they put it together I the second half. Love Platic Bag, Warrior in Woolworths, I can't do anything.
A foundational band to the bands I like and to many of the peoples who music opinions I trust most. So disappointed to just find this OK.
Amazing drumming awesome opening track. Other songs also hold up. Amazing album.
Steelers and Grinder are enough to save a bordering on boring album.
Some poddling bluesy tracks mixed with some really good rock tracks.
As always some great tracks some OK tracks.
Unstoppable energy, scrappy jumpy live album. Good fun.
Perfect 90s indie pop album
Nice closing track. Decent chill listen.
Great fun this
The longer tracks are great.
Very competent. High 3.
The tunes are banging. The album tracks drift a bit ok.
Very well produced and preformed pastiche
Unexpectedly enjoyed this. Very much a continuation of Rubber Soul era beatles.
Surprisingly good fun
Surprised with the Libertines vibes. I mean these are all bangers. Really good fun
The magic is not there as much as I remember it
First few tracks are good but by the end this is actively annoying.
Funky fun dance rythems clean rap.
Yeah this rocks. Wild.
The worst of Arcades Fire early run. No Cars Go is fantastic. The rest is quite mixed.
Bit bloated but the highlights are special l. Loving Cup, Shine a Light, Let It Loose.
Bit front loaded but so many bangers. Was a joy.
The funky rhythmic first half is fantastic. The falsetto tear jerkers not so much.
Very playful and expermental. But inconsistent
In appricate the playfulness and stuff but no this was annoying
Good, deep, pleasant downtempo album.
Mix of qecent quality writing with poor production choices. Enjoyable.
It's fine. The dead head thing has never got me? What draws people to this band over other folky rock bands like the byrids or the band. Dunno was fine.
90s production on "World music" is bad si clean.
I'm sorry I can not do these. Its obnoxious
Lovely fun. Best of this clean lyric folk rock style i have seen
Probably my least favourite album of Bjorks golden run. More to Life and violently happy are highlights
Chill plodding along Jazz
Lovely. You can see everyone is having a good time
Interesting stylistically. Mixed in quality.
Really dull
Dated production bubbling pop
Highlights: The Partisan, the butcher, the old revolution
The murder mystery is basically pavement/ parquet courts mo.
Radiohead if they were really annoying
There is a lot of 70s/80s hard Rock this is an decent exampl
Like the last few tracks. I WISH I WAS YOUR MOTHER is Dylanesque and fun. Won't be revisiting though
Very free from, chill, playful
A romp through a bunch of excellent covers and a massive track (respect) which would later become a huge hit when covered by someone else
This might be another 5. I mean it's the most beatles sounding kinks album but it's very sharp fresh, with some great jams and tunes
Fun, jazzy, playful
An acid house release.. elements of it have dated but there are still some bangers in here
Fun R&B instrumentals some classics in here
Bit dated byt good fun
Interesting concert in a jail
Bright spots
The hits are very good still thing its one kf bobs weakest albhms
Cool Keith vibes. Fun existential lyrics playful instrumentations
Find this pretty dull wu tang without the edge
Lovely mix of country Baroque and so much else an unexpected gem
Lovely at points a touch long but a good find
Nah nah nahs
Very fun nice suprise.
One if the nationals weaker albums some good stuff but mixed
A non essential led zeppelin album. Lots of self indulgent guitar tangling and Kashmir
Paperhouse and Oh Yeah so good. Just such good fun psych freakouts
21 was a lovely album of well constructed songs with a lot of soul influences. Nice suprise. This is a bunch over the top songs where Adele is straining her voice. I really did not enjoy this. Shame as 21 was a nice suprise
Bars are shap beats are varied
Not as good as Orginal Pirate Material
Sufjan always plays a fine line between being actively irritating and brilliant. The sheer ambition and scale of some of these songs wins the day here. Some very complex harmonic arrangements in the more orchestral songs are spell binding.
Its highs are high
All bangers really. Early Beatles get way less attention then it deserves
Really good
First half os great second half average.
Thoroughly odd record
Just a few covers of black musicians which did it better
One of velvets more experimental less approachable records. Can see a lot of sucide on here.
Probably the weakest of the Hendrix releases. But this is far from weak. There are a few editions. The original didn't have Hey Joe and purple haze but does have red house and is moderatly better. On listening the production seems a little flat compared to how I remember. Still the songs are good and Hendrix is a unique guitarist enjoyed it.
Decent glam album. Brighton Rock Is great and enjoyed more then any other Queen album.
Aside from the hits (imagine/jealous guy) this is not a great effort and a huge drop off from Plastic Ono Band
Some great cuts overlong
Very jazzy prog second half better then the first
Just unpretentious fun. It goes hard.
Can’t give it a bad review because it was perfectly enjoyable. But I can not understand why this is on here. Like at all. There is nothing about this album in 1995 which makes it particularly noteworthy
