I made it to Peach Trees before I got tired of the looooonnnngggg draaaaawwwwnnn oooooouuuutttt wooooooorrrrrrrddddsssss
Classic
Hey, remember high school when Kanye still made good music and wasn’t a POS nazi? Yeah, me too. I used to have this on repeat back in the day, but I refuse now to give any streaming revenue to this a**hole. Eat shit, Ye.
I’ve never really been into Neil Young, it was okay but probably won’t listen again
Too slow for my tastes
Too long, not very interesting
Love the punk style
Classic Madonna, took me back to my childhood listening to 80s music
Classic soul, easy to listen to but I feel like it is not exactly what I want to listen to while working which is when I listen to these albums.
I enjoyed the synth music, got a little too repetitive after several tracks
Beautiful music, not so much of a fan of the ambient noise alongside the music
Too boring to listen all the way through
Groovy, easy to listen to, great voice
Not my taste, the music isn’t bad but I can’t really stand her voice for long
Too slow for my tastes
Cool bluesy feel, added to my music
Classic Brit 60s rock
Beautiful voice, I’m not much of a country fan
Fun 60s rock
I usually enjoy electronic music but there are too many high pitched squeaky noises for me to make it through many of the tracks
Love starting my day off with some good old thrash metal
Classic 80s rap, the music isn’t the greatest by 2023 standards but it’s all about the lyrics
Jazzy, voice goes up and down constantly and it’s just not my taste
Today I learned I actually do like bossa nova
Nah
Wish You Were Here will forever be one of my absolute favorite songs. This album is incredible from start to end.
Some catchy guitar riffs, grungy vocals
Classic glam metal, saw them live a few years ago and they still rock hard, this album took me right back to that concert
Pretty much exactly what you expect when you think 60s psychedelic rock. I didn’t know the electric jug is an instrument but that definitely adds a unique sound to the album
*yawn* I’m only 3 songs in and already bored out of my mind. Let me play the title track and see if it’s any different. Nope, still bored.
He’s called “The Boss” for a reason, Born to Run is definitely one of the reasons.
Relaxing piano music, great for background music while working.
Strange definitely sums it up. Not really my cup of tea
Groovy. Wish this album was longer than 4 songs.
Recognized the band name from my emo days in high school but never listened to them before. I love this pop-rock sound.
I’ve never been too big of a Neil Young fan. This is very raw and kind of catchy at times but just not my thing.
High energy, fun to listen to
Catchy, very pop Beatles-ish
Absolute classic, easily one of the best albums of all time
Classic punk, what more can you say
All the songs sound the same, nothing too exciting
Absolute classic
Wilco is a band name I’ve heard many times and never listened to for some reason. Im glad I finally took the time to listen to this album, very 90s alternative.
Added to my music after listening, I previously only knew The Message but the whole album is great. It’s A Shame hits so hard even 40+ years later.
Meh. Nothing too exciting in my opinion.
Classic 60s Britpop. Nothing too exceptional but still a fun listen
Groovy. Experimental done well.
It’s always great to see albums already in your collection show up on here. Classic 90s prog rock
Chill hip hop
Fun album, recognized Roadrunner from School of Rock with Jack Black
Not really into the vocals, can’t stand to listen past the first couple of songs
I normally don’t like Neil Young but this album is pretty good, I actually enjoyed Vampire Blues enough to add to my music
Went into this only knowing the title track, okay album but probably won’t give most songs another listen
Good beats, not a huge fan of the vocals on all of the tracks
Take On Me will forever be a nostalgia favorite so this is off to a good start. All catchy songs, exactly what I expected from a mid 80s album.
So full of soul, great listening.
I’m just not into being told a long story while listening to a song. Beautiful voice but just not my cup of tea.
The singles are really the only songs on this album worth a second listen, everything else is boring with how similar it all sounds.
Old school, I love it.
Lovely for background music, but kind of boring for 20+ minute long songs.
Groovy
I previously have only heard Weird Fishes, I’m glad to hear the whole album. Very well done, chill music.
Very 90s. I’m not a huge fan of Courtney’s vocals but the music is good for a one time listen.
Nothing exactly groundbreaking to come out of the 60s
Beautiful instrumentation but so boring otherwise
I couldn’t make it past the first two songs, I feel like I’m listening to a depressing Disney movie soundtrack
Love the keyboard and grungy vocals
Full of energy, sounds like a fun concert. But that doesn’t excuse JLL being a racist pedophile, I can’t see past that.
Great album, have only heard one song previously in a movie but definitely worth the listen
Love The Pretenders, great album
I normally don’t like The Smiths that much but I haven’t heard this album so let’s see…first song and Morrissey is growling at me? Oh wait, he’s still doing it in the second song. He finally stopped growling but my opinion of The Smiths hasn’t changed, nothing incredible or groundbreaking.
Meh. Whatever.
Super funky!
Nothing too exciting besides Sympathy for the Devil
High energy Brit punk. Personally I love it
Two words: Irish punk. I love it. Mountain Dew is my favorite track, it’s just fun.
Not my cup of tea.
Maybe not the worst band in the world but nothing too exciting
Great hits, the rest of the songs on the album are pretty good. I’m a sucker for that wailing guitar.
Not my thing
Definitely prefer to modern day country but still a little too clean sounding for my tastes
Fun listen but probably won’t listen to it again, sounds like pop radio rock for the time it came out
Fun album
Booooooring. Mrs. Robinson is the most energetic song on this album. “Wish I was an English muffin about to make the most out of the toaster” Grade A lyrics.
I’m really really not into live albums, I don’t want to hear audience screaming for 20 minutes. Orchestra is great, songs are classics, but the audience ruined the vibes for me.
Cool African beats
Green Day had a huge influence on the music I liked growing up, this is one of their best albums.
30 years later and the lyrics as meaningful as ever
I’m usually not a fan of female vocalists but this isn’t bad, a few catchy songs with Lovefool of course being the most catchy.
Great album !
Fantastic
Love it
Good album for the most part, catchy songs but starting to get more annoying than enjoyable towards the end
It’s like The Kinks, but a worse American version
I’m not a Zappa fan so let’s see how this goes…honestly pretty groovy
Perfect punk album
Haven’t heard this album before, let’s see how it is. Love it, catchy songs
Classic
A couple familiar songs, but otherwise very jazzy. I’m all about this. Favorite song on the album: The World is a Ghetto
Folksy and catchy but all the songs are pretty similar.
Yawn. I’m already tired this morning and this almost put me to sleep.
I love glam metal
Not a bad album, just kind of boring
Smooth is the only word I can think of to describe this album. Smooooth
I’ve never really been into Neil Young, it was okay but probably won’t listen again
Very 90s rock, felt super nostalgic listening to this album even though Song 2 is the only song I’ve heard before
Based on the reviews, I expected this to instantly be a new favorite for me but honestly I was bored listening to this album. I’m also not sure where the “psychedelic” part came in to play…
Easily one of my favorite bands, fantastic album
Absolute classic
I can see why this is included in this list, but some themes are too misogynistic for 2023.
Pretty boring
If you think “90s Brit-alt rock”, this album is basically exactly what you’d expect. The only thing that kind of irked me is that the vocalist sounds like he wants to be Billy Corgan but doesn’t have that voice.
So much soul in one album
I’m a massive Beatles fan, not their best album but still 5/5
Some catchy beats but lyrics are a miss
I’ve never been a huge Bowie fan. Heroes is a jam but the rest of the songs aren’t spectacular.
Two Bowie albums in a row. This album is also not that bad, but I’m not a fan of the Beatles cover.
The hits are nostalgic for me from college but the other songs on the album are just okay.
Very 90s
I couldn’t understand all of the lyrics but it’s still a fun album. I was dancing the whole way through. My only complaint is the squeaking in the background of several songs, I hate that sound.
Decent album, I enjoy the instrumentation, but I started getting bored after a couple of songs.
I understand why this album is on this list but I’m not really into it.
Like other people have said, it’s good background or hold music but nothing life changing
Absolute classic. Pacing of the album is perfect, love the hits, and have a couple new favorites to add to my playlist.
I’m not a fan of female vocals, especially the terrible cover of Helter Skelter
I hate live albums
One of my favorite albums of all time. Instant 5/5
Boring
Why have I never heard this before? I love it!
Instant 5 out of 5
I like the music and lyrics but not too big of a fan of the vocals
Never gave Muse much of a chance in high school. It’s not terrible but not the best thing I’ve ever heard
Easiest 5/5 so far. Them Belly Full hits so hard even almost 40 years later.
I feel like I’ve heard this same album by countless other bands. If I found this album back in 2003, I would’ve loved it but 20 years later it doesn’t feel unique.
Smoooooth
I love getting these banger albums on Fridays so I can go into the weekend with good music
I’ve never been a HUGE fan of The Who besides listening to their hits every now and then but I enjoyed this album more than I expected.
I feel like my ears are actually bleeding. I wish I could give this 0 stars
I feel like I was transported into an 80s romcom movie while listening to this
Not a terrible album but the 10 minute drone of We Will Fall was basically the worst part
Funky but I felt like it was missing something
Boring
I was taken back to being 11 years old and jamming out to this cd on my Walkman, I still love it after all these years
She’s so talented and has a beautiful, powerful voice, but this isn’t really my taste.
I usually don’t like Young’s voice too much but this was easy to listen to and just relax, except for Running Dry. The violin makes me want to rip out my eardrums.
I really like this, I’ve never heard of this band before but it feels similar to The Talking Heads.
Not a fan
Brilliant. There’s no other word to describe this album.
She has a nice voice but everything else was just not good.
Johnny’s rendition of Hurt has made me cry many times, this whole album was so beautifully painful. I’m a huge Beatles fan, but this is now my favorite version of In My Life.
First impressions just looking at the album, 1. I hate live albums. 2. 10 songs and over 1.5 hours? I love Smoke on the Water but 7 minutes of that chord progression is a little much.
Not what I expected at all from the title and album cover, fun rockabilly/punk mix.
I’ve tried so hard to like Morrissey but everything is just so one note.
I love Sunshine of Your Love, the rest of the album is pretty good. It makes me sad that Eric is so talented but also an anti-vaxxer.
I’m 5 songs in and tapping out, it’s already too repetitive, I can’t handle 2 hours of this…
“The Dark Side of the Moon is a little like puberty: Feel how you want about it, but you’re gonna have to encounter it one way or another. Developed as a suite-like journey through the nature of human experience, the album not only set a new bar for rock music’s ambitions, but it also proved that suite-like journeys through the nature of human experience could actually make their way to the marketplace—a turn that helped reshape our understanding of what commercial music was and could be.” Perfect description. This is what I truly think this list of albums to hear before I die was made for.
This is what I think of when I hear the phrase “dad rock”.
Great album to get in October, definitely get spooky vibes. Great album overall.
Much better than the live album I had a couple of weeks ago with a 7 minute long Smoke On The Water. This is the kind of music I grew up and I’ll always love it.
I’m not a Radiohead fan but this album is just mediocre. It’s completely forgettable, definitely not Radiohead’s best.
Boring
Definitely experimental. Some hits, some misses but I enjoyed it overall.
I love the grunge
Not my favorite Springsteen album but he’s still The Boss.
Instant 5/5
I’m not a fan of female vocalists, and nothing about this album felt unique.
Fun album but a voice like Cee Lo’s can only be handled in small doses, not over an hour.
Not my usual taste in music but with some light rain outside and heartache, I enjoyed her warbling voice.
Live album, 2 hours for only 13 songs…already not the best first impression. I’m sure being at the show was great but I prefer studio albums
Fun album but a voice like Cee Lo’s can only be handled in small doses, not over an hour.
Extremely 80s, I love it.
Not terrible but not the greatest thing I’ve ever heard. Mid 90s punk was great but this wasn’t the best
I feel like I was transported into scene in a crime drama tv episode from the early 2000s when they show the characters doing quotidian tasks with no dialogue.
With the exception of Bang A Gong for the fleeting second of “Oh that’s who sings this song!”, I was pretty bored listening to this
Growing up with family that frequently played 70s-80s metal means there’s no way I can rate this album anything other than 5.
Reminds me of Morrisey, but if Morrisey had a more tolerable voice
Not the best, not the worst. This gets a middle of the road rating for how uninspired I feel after over an hour of meh.
Coming into this album with the only Kate Bush song I know is Running Up That Hill due to Stranger Things. In general, I find female vocalists difficult to listen to. This album was no different for me. The music for the first couple of tracks was the only reason I’m not rating this 1/5.
Absolute classic. This is the one of the albums I’m sure was an instant pick for this list.
I love getting bangers on Fridays. Hip hop isn’t my usual genre but this has had so much influence in the 30 years since it was released. I also love the jazzy twist mixed in.
Anything by The Beatles is an instant 5/5 for me, but especially Revolver. It’s all over the place with different styles but it works. If you rate this anything other than 5, you’re wrong.
First impression: this is groovy. Overall, this was a fun album. I really like post-punk like this. Favorite track: The Great Beautician in the Sky, the eeriness gives me Danse Macabre vibes.
I can see why this is so lowly rated and the reviews are how they are. It pushes boundaries sometimes to the breaking point of conventional recorded material. I felt like I was having heart palpitations at certain points due to the noises.
Two Beatles albums this week? I’m all about that. I’m going to listen to my vinyl of this instead of listening from my phone. Abbey Road is probably the most recognizable album of The Beatles and my second favorite. Another case of if you rate this less than 5/5, you’re wrong.
Psycho Killer is my jam and I love the rest of the album. Instant 5/5.
R&B isn’t my usual listening. Saying that, this album sounds like something I’ve heard a million times before with more polished production, probably due to the recent release date.
My 2005 self would’ve loved this.
As the vocalists say in Temecula Sunrise: AAAHHHH This is so hipster that it’s painful, even for this former tumblr hipster. Favorite lyrics: Your hair is like an eagle.
I feel like I was transported back to the 90s with this album. Favorite song: Be Thankful for What You’ve Got
Smoooooth Favorite track: Pick Up Sticks, it makes me want to practice piano more often to try to be this good.
I liked this way more than I expected from the album artwork. I could’ve done without the flute, but otherwise this was right up my alley. I think I have a new favorite band. Favorite track: Is and Is and Is
I’ve never been too big into The Rolling Stones but I know they’ve had an influence on some of my favorite artists today so I have to give them that. I probably won’t listen to this album again but it wasn’t awful.
Starting the album off with Shining Star is fantastic, gets the energy pumping from the get go.l this whole album is so full of soul, not normally my genre of choice but they make it accessible.
I didn’t expect to like this so much. There are some moments musically that I could do without but I like her flow and how raw the lyrics are. I love Michael Kiwanuka too, so that brought this album from 4 to 5 for me. Favorite track: Venom
It’s The fucking Clash. This is the only punk band that matters. For an inaugural album, this absolutely sets the tone for all of their music that follows and has had a huge impact on the world of music in the 30+ years since.
I’m not even going to try to be “pretentious music critic” about this album and just give it the rating I think it deserves.
“As Brian May later noted, Queen II certainly wasn’t a perfect album—but it was the single biggest step the band ever took.”
My phone was stolen during RCHP at ACL Fest 2017 so that’s something about this band that I’ll always remember. Under the Bridge is the only somewhat okay song on this album.
I enjoyed the background music and his voice but I couldn’t really get into the rapping.
In my millennial mind, this is dad rock. It’s not terrible, but probably won’t listen again.
I see why Use Somebody was the hit off this album, the rest is just meh.
I usually don’t like Neil Young but his voice isn’t so offensive in this album. Still prefer Johnny Cash’s cover of Heart of Gold.
“Born down in a dead man's town The first kick I took was when I hit the ground You end up like a dog that's been beat too much 'Til you spend half your life just coverin' up Born in the U.S.A I was born in the U.S.A I was born in the U.S.A Born in the U.S.A Got in a little hometown jam So they put a rifle in my hand Sent me off to a foreign land To go and kill the yellow man Come back home to the refinery Hiring man says, "Son if it was up to me" Went down to see my V.A. man He said, "Son, don't you understand" You’re a complete idiot if you think this song is patriotic at all. Also, Dancing in the Dark is always a bop.
Classic 80’s metal, I love it
This is the kind of country that I actually like, not the meaningless pop that comes out now.
It went from being “Okay, I can bop my head a little to this” to “How much more of this do I have to listen to?” Not the worst I’ve ever heard but definitely forgettable. I would’ve preferred to hear their psychedelic rock that supposedly came before this garbage.
Not what I excepted with the album cover. I love it
I love the bluesy feel of this album
I don’t know a single word of Icelandic but this band’s music always sends me on an emotional journey. Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust was frequently on repeat during my college years, but this is my first time listening to Ágætis Byrjun. I’m so glad I took the time to hear it.
I don’t usually listen to the blues but Muddy Waters is where it is at.
This is right up my alley, nostalgic indie lo-fi rock with a hint of grunge. Time to listen to Sebadoh’s whole discography…
Not exactly my cup of tea but a couple songs got my head bopping.
I’m usually not a fan of live albums but you can just tell everyone there is having the time of their lives.
Everyday People - I finally figured out the song my mom used to sing when I was child with the “Scooby-Dooby-Dooby” part. Overall, this is a fun album and I know it was a huge influence for so many musicians to come.
This was so relaxing to listen to while working. Very soothing a capella.
I got 3 songs in and got a headache from being screamed at.
Paint It Black carries this album
Boooooring. I couldn’t even make it through the first track without dozing off.
Very well recorded for a live album, but not my thing
Bowie songs are always hit or miss for me. I’m normally a lyrics person, but being classically trained in music theory I notice when things don’t exactly fit the “norm.” Overall, the long minutes with a pre-made beat from GarageBand and various instruments going all over the place was a miss on this album. Dollar Days is the only song I would willingly give a second listen.
I made it to Peach Trees before I got tired of the looooonnnngggg draaaaawwwwnnn oooooouuuutttt wooooooorrrrrrrddddsssss
I appreciate the different styles and everything going on musically in this album, it’s just not really my personal taste.
Boooooring
Anyway, here’s Wonderwall…
Good musicianship but I just couldn’t get into it
This was beautiful, relaxing instrumental Indian music. Apparently the version on Apple Music is not the correct album, I had to find it on YouTube.
Why is this on here?
Boring
Bittersweet Symphony is the highlight, putting it as the first song meant the last hour of my time wasted
This is the kind of album I’m looking for on this list. As much as I never saw myself as a blue enjoyer, the blues had a baby and they named the baby Rock & Roll.
I just can’t get into it
I’ve never heard this band before but I feel like I’ve heard this album hundreds of times
I think I would have to be in a specific mood to enjoy this and I’m not there currently.
The cover of I Heard It Through the Grapevine deserves 5 stars on its own
Loop after loop after loop after loop after… Whatever, I liked it for the most part except the wispy female vocals.
This must be on the list of albums I have to hear before I die just to give perspective to how bad it can be.
Am I allowed to call myself an alternative music fan if I don’t really like Radiohead? I’m a lyrics person and I can’t understand what Thom says 99% of the time
I can’t even finish the first song without wanting to turn it off.
To me, this sounded more of a compilation of dance songs than an album by one band. I couldn’t really get into it.
I guess not everything on this list can be bangers
I’ve specifically avoided listening to any TSwift after 2016 because I knew I wouldn’t like it. I’m not going to listen to this album because I already know what to expect. I know she’s had a huge influence on popular culture, but that’s not what I’m looking for on this list.
This would’ve been right up my alley at the time it was released, I’m surprised I haven’t heard it before.
House has never been my choice of EDM, too repetitive imo. I wanted so hard to like this but there are only so many times I can hear about someone finding a new way of life and taking off on their bicycle.
Hey, remember high school when Kanye still made good music and wasn’t a POS nazi? Yeah, me too. I used to have this on repeat back in the day, but I refuse now to give any streaming revenue to this a**hole. Eat shit, Ye.
Major nostalgia from this one, instant 5/5. Favorite track: The Youth
Easiest 5/5 ever.
Spacemen 3 already predicted what I’m going to rate this album. It’s okay but a little too boring to listen to while working when I’m trying to stay awake.
This has 2 things I’m not a fan of: live albums and Neil Young.
All I can think is Justin Furstenfeld with the vocals. I enjoyed the album overall.
Guilty pleasure synth-pop. I kind of love it.
I think I got pregnant just listening to this
I love getting absolute classics on Fridays.
No thanks
Automatic 5/5. Such a great first album.
