Very cool band. I feel New York... is overrated, but Someone Great and the opener are highlights for me.
A very chill bossa nova album
No longer on spotify :( listened to Maggot Brain instead
Needs a relisten. Opens very strong, but a lot of ambient frippertronic tracks to the end that need time to digest.
The hits (Drive My Car, Norwegian Wood, In My Life) are hits. Rest is too early beatles for me.
Some highlights, but not my thing overall. Kept thinking about the Donald Glover bit about older rap being "I went to the hat store/ and I bought a hat!"
One of his best on the day he got his EGOT
REM at their most rocking.
They have songs other than Come On Eileen? I guess not.
Technically fine. Just wasn't into it.
Badwitdabba and Cowboy are classics as much as I hate him
Laura and Take Your Mama are great. Rest meh
Hell yeah (Gallagher) Brother. Columbia, Married with Children, are my favorite non singles.
Missing link from Beatles to REM/Elliot Smith. Love this record.
Technically impressive singing, subject matter was not for me
Mother's Little Helper and Under My Thumb are two my favorite Stones songs. Rest is Okay.
Need to sit with this one a bit more, but this was a great discovery!
A little bloated and maybe only their 3rd best album. But DBT rules. Worth sticking around for the 2nd half. And the George Wallace saga.
Disc 2 falters a little but I still think this is my favorite Led Zep album.
One of the best debuts of all time
Thought it was going to be bland at the start but really got into it toward the end.
Good for outside my genre. Especially the Ice Cube Track.
There was a manic saxophone player loose in the studio during the entire recording sessions. I love him.
Drugs Don't Work is one of the best songs written
Punk. Fun, but nothing special.
Just great song after great song, all in short little bursts
Repetitive by design. Classic.
Nice cooking album. Wouldn't listen often.
It's as boring as it looks on the label.
So primal. This album rules.
The only album that sounds normal.
Beautiful album. Some songs end up a little too similar to the opening track.
One of my favorite albums
The instrumentation on this album rules. From the flute on the opening track, the drums on Parade, this album has a lot of depth
Very Big Star with a Smiths and Britpop edge
Fun! I'm the One was a highlight i hadn't heard
Great piano rock. This one is very genesis.
Didn't get it on first listen as a whole but it had its moments
Only two uptempo tracks, but otherwise a classic singer songwriter album of that era.
How are there two DMR albums here.
Very fun. Liked the covers on side 2.
Such a cool record. Pre Math Rock
More music should sound like it came from another planet
Not my favorite of theirs, but still a classic
80s synth and production is a bit tough for me
A little lenghthy, but such a good irish sound
Great parts. It is just. so. long.
Very emotive voice. But can't make it through the whole thing sincerely.
There's a weirdness to this album. Jimmy is the highlight besides the huge hit Paper Planes. And the one song where she recites the lyrics to Where is my Mind.
Time of the Season is one of the best songs of the 60s. Rest of the album is super catchy too.
Nightinggale was good. But i found the album mostly boring
Long grooves and very sexual. Prefer purple rain but Prince is still at a peak.
Dress Rehearsal Rag and Avalanche holy shit
Bizarre New Orleans sound.
Is it trying to be funny? Is that the gimmick? Richard Cheese and Lounge Against the Machine Ass music.
Figure 8 is still my favorite, but still one of my favorite artists
More guitar oriented. Love comes to town and psycho killer are great, rest was lacking.
40 minutes of rock opera crap before you get to pinball wizard? Stick it up your ass. 1921 is good though
Surprisingly fire guitar tones
This had no right to go as hard as it did.
The reason you hate synthpop
Interesting as a concept, but would never go back to it
Sick beats but the vocal flow got tiring.
I don't think it is there best, but still an awesome sound
I had no idea. Every song is great. The guitar playing is genuinely inspiring.
A very chill, romantic mood electronic album. I like this?
The turning point for the band. The harrison tracks rip
Some all timers on here. Rest is meh
First and last track good
Like a looser Sonic Youth + pixies. Here is great.
Mostly for Day in the Life. I agree with the modern take that revolver is better.
A thick layer of sludgy noise over some 80s songs. The missing link into Nine Inch Nails.
Perfect album. Underrated guitar player. Eternal Life is absolutely rocking.
Gave it a chance thinking he was a target of toxic masculinity but his music is actually just bad
solid throughout. B.I.B.L.E is the highlight
Their best album? Probably not. Are all my favorite songs on this one? Yes.
The accent got to me after a few songs, but a very strong start to the album. Will need to check out more.
Very loud, really pushing recording tech of the 60s. But not really into the songs.
Excessively long jam sessions.
Spotify doesn't have the full album. Nice, sweet. Not really my genre but it's good.
Phenomenally catchy tunes. History of British Rock N Roll up till that point
In between two heavy hitters but still a perfect album in itself
Your favorite band's favorite band.
Nice Acoustic Punk with great great bass
A very CSN sounding album from Yes. I want to be too cool for them but alas I am not.
Starts to drag on after a while, but wow one of the strongest albums of that era.
Musically, perfect. Lyrically it struggles more than it should. Dear God is a very weak track, even as an atheist. However, 1000 Umbrellas, Earn Enough for Us, are some of their best work.
Their most well known album. Fantastic Throughout
An ambitious record all these years later
I miss maps but this is a solid record in its own right.
Some instrumentation choices were... interesting, so not as refined as his later work. But his songs still cut.
Underrated album of theirs.
A product of its time? Yes. Some ill-advised vocal affects and inflections? Yes. Does this album absolutely rule? Hell yes.
Sensational doesn't even begin to describe it.
Haven't listened all the way through in a long time.
Was going to rate lower, but I had a bad day at work and The Reflecting God really felt good on the drive home.
Wanted to deduct a point for the track "Sheer Heart Attack" actually appearing on News of the World, but I couldn't.
Much more even than Speakerboxxx. Also love how all the skits end in a clap and "BREAK"
I like the singles, but the rest of the album is a drag.
Garfield.
Imprisoning Me.
Some of this is goofy and overdramatic. The case continues and much of the middle is very compelling.
The ballads are a little... much, but the rest is amazing.
Suffers a little from Jim putting on his blues voice for most of the tracks.
mellow sad beck back to back with suftan stevens have mercy this week
McLaren managed to create something worse than the sex pistols
Abrasive masterpiece. Not recommended for long solo drives.
Everything they say about Joni's songwriting is true.
A little repetitive and art performative for my tastes, but very influential and a cool sound.
Even without Superstition this is an easy 5
Eels are great. E hadn't yet evolved into the lyricist he would become on the next album, Electro-Shock Blues (Instant 5), but the sound was present.
Without the Sex Pistols we never would have rhymed anarchist with antichrist. Sod off.
Went on a huge PJ Harvey kick at the start of this year. Best artist I discovered this year.
Pretentious as hell but I cried all the same.
This album is not on most streaming services, but H2Ogate blues is a masterpiece that makes the search worth it.
Honestly a sonic masterpiece from the Quiet One.
Absolutely phenomenal songs.
All in all a solid album. The love songs are crap and cost them a 5 star.
Sounds like a more raw coldplay? Lovely.
So minimalist it gets down to what the core of a song should be.
When he said "plus tubular bells" I popped off
I love the grunge era but never listened to this band before now. Groovy and emotionally raw to the point of being a little uncomfortable. Will listen again and again.
I lived in San Diego for a spell and loved the local music scene. Every bar had a poster for these guys. The love is well deserved.
Wanted to start it back up as soon as it was over
I like the way it makes my brain feel
11/10. Is currently by favorite of theirs, love the raw guitar energy.
A little dumb but I had fun with it
One of my favorite albums of all time
He was untouchable in this era.
Immaculate. The template for grunge and heavy folk.
Smooth operator is an all time classic, and the rest of the album surprisingly holds up as well. Pleasantly surprised.
Sort of like Duran Duran, but unyieldingly cheery. It was fine for a while but got grating.
Mutual Slump might be the highlight for me?
Was curious about this band when I heard it was where Richard Barbieri from Porcupine Tree started from. This and Tin Drum are genius records. It's like discovering smart art pop all over again.
One of the best bands of all time
I agree with the guy that said this fucks.
Some of the album didn't age well, other parts are absolutely timeless.
Beautiful, majestic, scary.
It's called Traffic because every song is a jam. Just super tight playing and writing.
Arrangement wise, probably her weakest album, but still a masterful songwriter and singer.
This is Slash's favorite Aerosmith album, and one of his favorite albums of all time. That makes it the best Aerosmith album by default.
Some great covers on here, but a lot of it falls flat
A collection of covers, but willie's fragile voice makes them his own, and Booker T's minimalist arrangements keep it grounded without sounding corny. A timeless album.
Beginning of the quash of Kim Deal's contributions, but still a solid album
So Imagine is a perfect song. Jealous Guy is a perfect song.
Was expecting to say the rest was rubbish but that was not the case.
Time heals most wounds. After a break from constant exposure to the singles, it's a solid album with great bass parts. Crawl and Notion were underrated. Minus a star for 17 and for a weak conclusion.
I like New Order in general, but this album combines my favorite and least favorites parts of 80s music in a way that invokes a purely neutral reaction in me. A true pH 7.
Art. Jig of Life and Waking the Witch were standouts in addition to the lead track.
Just a perfect pop record.
Almost more of an Eno album than a Bowie album. Side 1 is immaculate, Side 2 is a drag.
A very strange album. Sometimes the repetition works against it, sometimes it is magical. Paintwork is my favorite.
The drums and sax on this album are incredible.
Working Class Hero gets a 5, rest is just okay.
Love the sound the dreaminess, the guitars, my mind drifted off while the album was playing.
Hope their earlier work is on here, the production and drums are too slick compared to what I like about them
One of the best engineered records of all time. Maybe the best opening 3 track run of all time.
Blur vs Oasis debate solved Pulp clears both of them
Follows in the vein of public enemy
