Reviews (page 5 of 16)

Heartfelt offering by veteran band unafraid of change in the mid- late 70s. The way Buckingham- Nicks were welcomed with open arms and found their footing to create genuine magic within the gentle confines of this long-running act is the stuff of legend. Concept album of relationships on the rocks with all the light, dark and every shade in between.

There's a reason this is considered one of the best albums of all time. Everything about it is great

Not a lot to say about this album that hasn't already been said, but an easy 5 if there is one. Like Thriller, an almost unbelievable amount of timeless songs packed onto one album. The counterpoint of the Buckingham songs, the Nicks songs, the McVie songs, it all works. The harmonies are impeccable, the songwriting is excellent (the build on The Chain is almost worth the price of admission alone), the instrumentation, everything. An all-time classic and bestselling album for a reason!

Parfait. Timeless instrumentation, production and song topics. If landslide were on here it would be 11 out of 10 but their self titled is also excellent.

Une très bonne découverte ! 5/5

Nearly flawless album. Doesn't wear out its welcome. Easy 5/5

Of course this album is great. I mean, it's Rumours by Fleetwood Mac. It's not the best album ever, but it is really close to it. It is great from start to end, and it is a really strong record. So, of course, it much deserves to be here and to have five stars.

My wife would disown me if I rated any less than 5 stars

This is just a great album from start to finish.

Amazing that they could produce this masterpiece despite the inner discord and turmoil within the band at the time

I’m not really sure I can say anything that hasn’t already been said about this album. Good to listen to it again as it had been a while.

Simply brilliant

Banger after banger

Day 41 Not exactly a hot take but this album is pretty much perfection. 10/10 Highlights The whole album but is there a better moment on any album ever than when the baseline at the end of The Chain kicks in?

This may just be no 1. It could be this for 1001 days and I’d be happy.

Forever. Happy birthday mom

Knew this was going to be great and it was somehow even better than I expected. Go Your Own Way and Dreams on the same album is crazy enough, but The Chain and I Don’t Want To Know were discoveries for me

Superb album, not a bad track on it.

Is it a sin to give this less than 5?

I was wondering when we'd get to this one. I've listened to this one more times than I can count already.

Great!

BÄNGERI

never have i listened to an album where every single song is absolutely phenomenal.

Yeahhhh rumours is great. Its nice to come back to an album you liked years ago and its still good. Nice yo not do the whole I was a dumbass thing. Sometimes young you makes some good decisions. Its just fun and nice and enjoyable start to finish. I like almost every song in the record and the ones im not crazy about still have bright spots. Its just a classic and I could see someone calling it perfect. I dont believe in that but its so damn good. Worth a listen 100%. One of the easier recommendations ive got.

An all-time classic.

One of the greatest albums of all time.

One of the best albums of all time. If you don’t like this, you don’t know music.

Such a cracking album with so many great tracks. 5/5

With Dreams, The Chain, Never Going Back Again, and Don't Stop, Rumors is a strong contender for greatest album ever.

Obviously

One of the greatest albums of all time.

So good

This is a five star album. I like every song, and they all regularly come up on shuffle. There's a song for every mood and every ocassion on this album. Some standouts: Dreams - ugh, so good. Stevie's vocals are golden, the simplicity of the music is sublime. Songbird - I actually grew up with the Eva Cassidy version in my house as a child which I prefer. To me it's always been a really sad song, but I think it's probably because Eva Cassidy died so young. Christine McVie sounds great here though. The Chain - this is such a cool song, another for my setlist if I was ever in a cover band. You Make Loving Fun - It's like Dreams' carefree older sister, love both songs on this album. Only critique of this album is that I don't LOVE Gold Dust Woman as the final song. And, all I could think about when listening was WWF legend and hall-of-famer Golddust. So much so, I looked it up to see if this was where he got his ringname from: "The character was portrayed as a drag queen obsessed with films and everything gold, which is a parody of the Oscars statuette. Dust, is a play on his real name". Not quite.

Amazing album, a classic for a reason. Loaded with hits that have absolutely stood the test of time. Not a weak song on this and just about perfect throughout.

One of the top 5 most complete albums ever made, IMHO.

The magic of making love to a roadie I guess.

Peak Fleetwood Mac! It's amazing that such a triumph came out of such a dark time in their lives. I'm only a mild fan of Mac in general, but this album is off the charts.

Proof that sometimes mountains of cocaine, messy affairs and grudge fucking are actually beneficial. Best Tracks: Second Hand News; Go Your Own Way; You Make Loving Fun

Perfection

What else is there possibly to say about this album? It's one of the all-time greats for a reason. Many reasons, actually.

One of the greatest albums of all time. This would probably live in my too ten if I didn’t find it too galling to create such a list.

I love how you can practically hear them all banging each other

I've always heard this album is one of the best albums ever written and I never quite got it. I tried listening to it previously, but what the hell was I listening to before because it wasn't this. This was incredible and absolutely worthy of the praise! Absolutely fantastic album through and through. There's the bangers and the ballads, all of which are sonic beauty. Deserves more than 5 stars. 5/5

Fleetwood Mac are overrated! It's pop without any depth or edges! This was my sentiment and I was determined to keep it this way. At "Go Your Own Way" I started to give in, and at Chains my barricades got breached. From enemies to lovers in 20 minutes.

Perfection

(5) never actually listened all the way through but i did listen to my favs from the delux version after too

It is never anything less than a complete joy to sit and properly listen to this album; to hear the songs in their origin context, find new angles or jags to chip away at, new moments to obsesses about. For me this time it was the harmony in the second half of “The Chain”’s choruses. At one point I was comparing it aloud to one of those passes Lionel Messi can make that suddenly strands an entire defence in No Man’s Land … a daft simile, but, on reflection, I find it edifying that we might never, as a species, run out of ways of celebrating this record. To put it more plainly though, “Rumors” is so good that you could scrub any of “Dreams”, “The Chain”, “Don’t Stop” or “Go Your Own Way” from the track list and still be holding onto one of the best pop or rock or whatever albums of all time. Luckily, we don’t have to. There’s no thought experiment here, no test. There’s just something wonderful.

One of my all time favorite albums

Ahh...the quintessential 'big sister' album. But c'mon. It wasn't just your big sister's music, it was America's soundtrack. It's where we fell in love, or adopted as our spirit animal, Stevie. And we can only hope it's where some 'discovered' the magic that lives in Lindsey's fretwork and Christine's angelic (better than Nicks, IMHO) voice. Take all that, and then factor in that this album was a declaration of war. The band was infighting, infucking, incredible, in the pocket and at the top of their formidable game. Only Richard and Linda Thompson have a better, "we're breaking up, let's kick some ass' disc. Enjoy. And tell your big sister thanks.

I already know this album is amazing

I mean c'mon, who doesn't know this

Groovy, mysterious, passionate

Classic!

Such a good album. Solid songs, with solid themes, vocals, harmonies, and variety.

Greatest album of all time

Bands that have multiple songwriters - The Beatles, The Clash, Teenage Fanclub, Sloan, and the Buckingham/Nicks era of Fleetwood Mac, enjoy a distinct advantage in that filler and lesser material gets squeezed out in the competitive jockeying for vinyl space. And Rumours is that point at which all the major songwriters of the Mac were both clicking and emotionally inspired by the romantic turmoil that was roiling the band at the time. The result is a magnificent pop album enhanced by Buckingham’s exacting production. Masterpiece.

The best of the best

What a great album! Highly acclaimed, widely loved and for good reason. The Chain is one of my all time favourites, I can’t think of many builds in a song that hit quite like the build in The Chain, it gets my arm hair up and oh man what a fucking tune. Proof that disdain for one another can be a great ingredient to an awesome album. Buckingham’s guitars shine and Nicks’ powerful pipes, what a combo. Fleetwood’s drums and McVies bass deserve a nod as well. Only gripe is Daddy, I really don’t care for that tune but this is still 5 stars

Hallelujah now we're talking Kuunneltu useita kertoja, vielä useampia edessä päin. Melodiat toimii, rytmit toimii, lyriikat toimii. Yks lemppareistani

A perfect album!

Classic

A stone-cold classic with every Stevie Nicks track a standout.

There aren't many perfect albums. This is one of them, my friends.

40 mins of greatness. Surely one of the greatest rock albums ever and even better when you know the coke binging sex fuelled stories behind it.

Pop music may not get better. Production is on another level. Crazy good on every track but Dreams is a marvel, they turned two chords into one of the best songs ever. Lottaaaa mega hits. A+

Don’t have anything substantial to add other than it’s a great album. Maybe the best American record of the 70s? Never going back again is one of my favorite songs. Unsolicited plug for a cool cover - ‘dreams’ by the electric peanut butter company.

Masterpiece Loved listening to pieces of the super deluxe version. Disc 3 has early takes that are amazing to hear. Buckingham sounds like Billy Corbin in the early takes of Second Hand News The lore of this album is endlessly entertaining to dig into. Theres no doubt that these were supremely talented and volatile people that made something generationally relevant

Obviously 5 stars. No point in even having this on here except as a benchmark for what a 5-star album sounds like

“Hell yes” - I muttered to myself when this popped up before I needed to make an hour long morning drive for work the day after Labor Day. Just what the doctor ordered. This is the album my wife and I have probably listened to the most straight through, a road trip staple with no skips. This album is so perfect it’s almost insulting to have it on a list with all of this other trash. Every song good enough to stand on its own, and every song perfectly placed in sequence. Dreams is a great song and it might be my least favorite on the album. I go wild for the kind of raucous, multi-voiced party sound of Second Hand News, I Don’t Wanna Know, and Gold Dust Woman. SHN might be one of my favorite songs of all time - I love the build the outro guitar solo. Now I want to go listen to Tusk, has fallen out of my rotation and should be on this list.

All hits, no filler. A serious contender for GOAT album, especially knowing the backstory of all the drama that led to it. Also inspired one of my favorite bits of comedy dialogue: "You get a love triangle- you know? Fleetwood Mac situation. Well there was four of them, so more of a love square... Mind you, they did make some of their best music back then." "Rumours." "No, that's all true."

there is nothing i could say about rumours that hasn't been said before. this shit fucks. every song is a like.

Hits, vocal harmonies, clashes Second hand news Don't stop Go your own way The chain

Ok damn, this did live up to the hype. Abbey Road is still better, though

Cavalcade of hits

This one was fun, varied and had a few absolute bangers... Amazing songwriting, very good feel for how songs work... Easy 4.5

Hard to listen to this and find any flaws, definitely a must listen to for anyone wanting to make it big in pop rock

Instant classic. Takes me back to my youth.

Songbird, Dreams, The Chain, You Make Loving Fun, I D'ont Want to Know son las mejores canciones del disco. Muy balanceado entre melodías y canciones optimistas y canciones y melodías planas o suaves

Perfect.

What is there to say? Every single one of these songs is a classic

It’s rare to hear a record where every track stands out, production is mint, the vibes are immaculate, and every rational person can agree on its merits. But here it is. It’s a perfect record. That’s all that needs to be said.

I mean, it's Rumours. Easiest 5/5 of my life.

Never Going Back Again was a diamond in this goldmine of an album!

Very familiar with this one. Let's go! Hmm, don't know if I realize Don't Stop was by these guys. Wild. Never Going back Again is fantastic. I mean...this is basically a greatest album. Geez 4.6/5

I never intentionally listened to Fleetwood Mac but it’s amazing how many of these tracks have stayed in our collective consciousness. Some really strong tracks on the b-side. Favorites: The Chain, Dreams, You Make Loving Fun

Massa, muita cocaina

9.5/10, first song was meh, rest is amazing

Highest rated album on the generator for a good reason, an old favourite and widely regarded to be one of the best albums of all time. Tight, succinct, fantastic sound.

Garbage album. Couldn’t make it through 2 songs.

I’ve listened to this album a handful of times through the years but today it hit my heart in a new way. Thank you.

10/10 no words this album is absolutely perfect. The fact that they were all in a love triangle and all three of them sing in this album is incredible. I can’t say anything that hasn’t already been said but this album is an absolute masterpiece.

Perfect

Classic

I've already listened to his album (7). The best of the best, there are few albums like this.

The Bible of modern music.

You know why I am giving this album a 5 stars rating.

- already love this album - gold dust woman is a favorite

*listened before the project* Typically and classically nice, though not my favorite

One of the best albums ever made

Gold track after gold track

Älskar allt

What more can I say that hasn't already been said about this album? Legendary. Perfect start to finish.

One of the best albums of all time

What a great album

YES LETS GO CHEATING BAND ALWAYS WINS 5 STAR 5 STAR

Will forever love The Chain!

Uno de mis álbumes favoritos.

What is there to say really, an all-timer of an album. Not a single miss, musical perfection from top to bottom.

This is an incredible album and perfectly satiates what I look for in a pop/rock album. My favorites are The Chain and Dreams!

Thunder Only Happens When It's Rainin' 1001 Albums Generator 98 (08/18/2025) Last week, I had Fleetwood Mac's sprawling double album, Tusk, which was great, but extremely messy and eclectic. By that point, Lindsay Buckingham had completely moved into a more punk-y direction, so the album had lots of disparate songs on it. However, a big reason why Tusk was so experimental was due to the huge success of the album that preceded it, Rumours. Lindsay Buckingham said that he specifically did not want to make a second album like Rumours. But I mean, let's be honest, could they have made a second Rumours even if they wanted to? As much as this album is shaped by its distinct brand of soft pop rock, it is also defined by the circumstances under which it was created. John and Christie McVie divorced after touring for their tenth album and Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks were in an on/off relationship. Meanwhile, even drummer Mick Fleetwood was dealing with infidelity in his own house when he caught his wife with his best friend. Additionally, the band was doing lots of Cocaine during the recording process. According to Chris Stone, one of the owners of the studio Fleetwood was recording at, "The band would come in at 7 at night, have a big feast, party till 1 or 2 in the morning, and then when they were so whacked-out they couldn't do anything, they'd start recording". So how the fuck did the album turn out this great? Dreams is obviously a classic. I love how it is somewhat inspired by like country or something and it's amazing that Nicks wrote this song in a single afternoon. That is real fucking talent right there. Another great slower one is the acoustic ballad Never Going Back Again, penned by Buckingham. Unfortunately, I am not a big fan of Songbird, although I understand why it is here for the flow of the album. It just feels the least necessary of any songs here. However, Oh Daddy is a great slower song. This song makes me feel like I'm in the Shire (positive connotation). Gold Dust is the last song and features some country inspiration, especially in the guitar work. Nicks' vocals here also have a perfect twanginess. I do wish this song was slightly shorter, but it's good. I love the upbeat songs here too. Don't Stop has this infection piano-led groove and features lyrics that Christine McVie wrote about bassist John McVie, which he didn't realize until after the song was released. Go Your Own Way always reminds me of Rockband and has the first of many incredible basslines on the album. John McVie just pops off so hard in the chorus. Speaking of which, have you guys heard this song, The Chain? Whoa! I absolutely love the change up that happens in the last third of this song, led once again by McVie's incredible bass playing before Buckingham starts shredding. This is my favorite song on the album; it makes me very happy that this was such a big hit. You Make Loving Fun is a surprising choice for the final single. It's good, but I don't think it's one of the best songs here, although I do like that it has this sort of disco-esque sound to it. Overall, Rumours is a classic for a reason, obviously. It's one of the least hateable albums I've heard, and even though there are one or two songs that I'm not crazy about, it's still a very high 4.5/5, rounded up to a 5. Favs: Dreams Go Your Own Way The Chain Least Fav: Songbird

I want to not like this album so much but damnit! It is chock full of great songs with flawless production. The cocaine fueled obsession to every detail of the making of this album really paid off and is audible throughout. To be a contrarian, I must admit, I prefer the Buckingham sung songs. So there. Begrudgingly 5/ 5

Every song is a classic, the word masterpiece gets thrown around a lot. Applies here

The depth of this album is almost unparalleled, and if we just forget that Oh Daddy exists, doesn’t hit particular lows.

Any excuse to listen to this album again. Love Fleetwood Mac.

Look, it’s a five, but I also don’t need to hear most of these songs for another ten years.

What can you say about Rumours that hasn't already been said? Not much really. The emotional turmoil behind the scenes formed a masterpiece, and unless you knew about all of the tension and heartbreak going on within members of the band, you'd never be able to tell. Upon listening again you can hear, behind the professionalism of each performance, the intensity of their emotions breaking through.

Klassiker

A near perfect album (4/5) but upping it to 5/5 since the full emotional journey is simply a masterpiece

There are genuinely two songs on here that I dont think are absolute classics but the rest are and are some of greatest songs ever written. How could this not be 5 stars? Bow bow bow bow ba ba bow bow bow bow ba ba ba bow bow bow bow doo dootle dee doo bow bow ba ba bow bow bow bow

Who could argue anything less than a 5?

What more can be said about this legendary masterpiece? Devastatingly good.

Flawless as ever. No notes

An absolute classic that sounds as good today as first released. Everyone knows the backstory which helps explain the songs and their meanings. A classic

Greatest album of all time. Everything else pales in comparison.

Yeah, that’s the stuff

It's hard to make sad songs catchy, but I can't help but hum to these classics. Great songs with great vocals, 5 stars for me.

An amazing album. Deserves to be in your own collection.

Maybe the best rock/pop album ever made

So messy and so great

good, chill, relaxing album. really liked the flow of this one, for the songs, oh daddy and the chain are the best ones.

I mean come on bro it's Rumors by Fleetwood Mac. I don't care that the guy has his balls out this album slaps inconceivably hard. Stevie's voice is like a lullaby and the acoustic instruments are pleasant. So many bangers on one album.

The amount of sheer talent in this album is insane. Every song is wicked famous, and stands out in its own way. The album is so sad and somber in a beautiful way.

Sounds like a compilation of songs about people in love but coming apart, which is exactly what it is. A flawless execution of emotional vision in a fusion of folk rock and pop. There is a sensation that can only be described as the feeling you get when driving around and listening to Fleetwood Mac, and this album is the epitome of that. Perfection.

full of bangers but I genuinely forgot how good gold dust woman is

❤️

One of the best albums of all time. How they made this while relationships in the band were falling apart is a mystery. Fa purity track changes almost daily. No filler whatsoever. Essential.

almost every single song is a banger. Amazing

Great album, The Chain my favorite track.

Love this album. Very sophisticated production and nostalgic melodies

So we've finally arrived at "Rumors." One of, if not the highest, rated albums according to users of this site. The holy grail. An album that even outside this project has gained such acclaim that it often lands at the top or near the top of best of all time lists. I thought it was very good, and absolutely deserving of a spot of this list. After reading about its tortured recording process, I find it even more impressive. To produce such high quality music (both in composition and production quality) under such extreme circumstances (namely, the band's two couples splitting up during the recording of the album. And yet it produced such plucky and optimistic tracks as "You Make Loving Fun" and "Don't Stop." The latter of those two I'd heard plenty of times (probably as a cover) but never in a million years would've guessed that it was Fleetwood Mac's original. And it sounds so much better on this album than any other version I might've heard. The real standout tracks of this album are "Dreams," "Go Your Own Way," and "The Chain." Each deals with the fallout of ending relationships, each ending, perhaps, for different reasons. Each, also coming from a different solo or combination of writers, perhaps reflecting the writer's position on the end of their respective relationships. What an amazing, personal insight into a band's dynamic. The raw emotion of each of those songs captured almost in real time, as each member of those two couples was having to adjust to life without their ex-partner. How rare that must be, and then to have it happen to exceptionally talented musicians all at once, I mean - wow. I wouldn't be surprised if this record was driven by the feelings of betrayal, loss, anger, grief and pride that all come up during a breakup. And to have all of that happen during the recording process, and to have it all on tape is incredible. Rare. Likely never to occur again. We are fortunate to have this historical ledger, both because of its musical accomplishments, but also as a document of the human response to loss of love. What a masterpiece. Five easy stars. Standout Tracks: Dreams, Go Your Own Way, The Chain, You Make Loving Fun, Gold Dust Woman

Dreams Never going back again Don’t stop Go your own way

Still very good

HO SHIT. HO SHIT. I FUCKING LOVE RUMOURS. THIS IS MY JAM. THIS IS MY ALBUM. I LISTEN TO THIS THING ALL OF THE FUCKING TIME. I LOVE HAVING AN EXCUSE TO JUST BLAST RUMOURS ON REPEAT. I WILL NEVER BREAK THE FUCKING CHAIN. HOLY SHIT. 5/5. 500000000/5 TBH.

Excellent music that I’ve heard a million times.

Masterpiece (c'mon)

Perfection

4th day of listening and I get this one. It’s all downhill from here. 5 stars.

It’s Rumours, of course it’s 5 stars

Oh this is one of my favs. So good on vinyl too. The album showcases raw emotion and songwriting, and knowing the drama of the band, impressive that they were able to compose the songs with such vulnerability to make it so great. So so so good. And not often do you get an album that is great from start to finish. Gold Dust Woman is one of the best on the album.

Tells a compelling story while supplying some of the greatest songs of all time, easy 5.

Meticulously-crafted male-female pop rock perfection

Stretched out some some cassette tape on the '77 deployment. Good times.

Another banger of an album.

One of the best rock and roll albums of all time and everyone here seems to agree. One of the easiest 5/5 that I'll give. Every song is absolutely amazing from start to finish and it's really incredible that they were able to write something so incredible considering the turbulence that the band was experiencing with all of their personal relationships. Dreams is one of the best songs in the past 50 years so that, alone, probably earns it 5* in my book.

The most critically acclaimed and celebrated pop album of all time Fleetwood Mac’s rumors exist in the rare zone of no one disagreeing when someone says it’s the greatest album of all time. Amazing song writing and delivery throughout with solid musical backing and not a single person who doesn’t play an instrument. Also shoutout the band being named after the rhythm section that alone makes it the best band name ever

Although I would desperately love to be contrarian, it's a five. When like 70% of your album's songs become ubiquitously iconic singles, the album is probably pretty damn good. Songs from Rumours are wayyyy fucking overplayed in advertisements and family gatherings, and yet they still manage to hit. Fave songs: Basically everything, except maybe "I Don't Want To Know" and "Oh Daddy," but special attention to "The Chain" and "Gold Dust Woman." Jesus Christ I still get goosebumps hearing those songs.

Любимый альбом с первых песен.

What is there not to like? It's full of great tunes. Although I have to say the more country/ballady ones are not really my thing. But you can hear how a lot of indie bands used this record and some of the sound, particularly the guitar parts, as an inspiration for their own tracks.

Top drawer. Lindsey Buckingham is underrated as a guitarist.

The issue with this album is that some of the songs are so overplayed that it waters down the impact of listening to them in album form. But (a) it’s not their fault I was born 8 years after its release and (b) I’m not willing to mark down for good songwriting.

Finally an album with variety. The range of songs on here is really very good. Albums can be hard to listen to sometimes if they are all the same style.

So many great songs covering so many styles. And like the "Stevo knows best..." whatsapp group it's only improved by all the members hating each other. A comfortable 5 stars and a perfectly acceptable answer to the "greatest album of all time" question (although wouldn't be my answer)

What an amazing album start to finish.

Pretty much perfect

This album is almost perfect, aside from the gross oh daddy song

5 stars - amazing album from the instruments to the vocals and the mixing.

Inte en enda dålig låt

No notes - thank you

Been avoiding Fleetwood Mac so far for no apparent reason. Now having actually listened to them for once, I‘m absolutely blown away. So many recognizable songs that just stick with you. And the vibe is just coherent.

Maravilloso

Listened in the truck via YouTube music. Very much a classic. They just announced the first ever repress of Buckingham Nicks coming out in a month or so. I’ll definitely be checking it out since I haven’t listened to it before.

More like gold dust *album* amirite

Rating: 4.5 This album is timeless, the hits are still absolutely playable now in any setting and the deep cuts are very interesting detours into more introspective themes. I wanted to save my first five star album for something I have always been a personal fan of but this album just snuck over the line, even though this is my first ever listen. Extremely impressive.

This is my favourite album ever, just a stone cold classic and one of the top 10 albums ever made.

Somehow haven't listened to this entire album before but there wasn't a bad song on it.

It's just a perfect album.

The one album universally loved in my time at uni, didn't matter what else you liked, everyone had a copy, all killer no filler although we did not say that back then, what a time to be alive...

Outstanding album, probably one of the few 6/5s. Every song is somewhere between great and an all-time classic. Tough to choose, but FS: Go Your Own Way. More bands should break up during recordings.

The songs are so stylistically diverse, yet there is not a flop to be found between them! So many iconic hits on one album!! So incredible to produce an astounding piece of art from this much tea!!! Neil Buchanan eat your heart out!!!! The 5 to end all 5s. Thank you Fleetwood Mac for being messy bs who love drama and turning up to the studio anyway. 🫡

Trenger ikke å høre på denne. Auto 5

Can definitely see why its regarded as one of the greatest of all time, loved it

A few songs I don't love, but it's hard not to give this one a 5.

This is a masterpiece and everybody knows it!

I was ten or eleven years old, reading a book I have long forgotten, and I vividly remember that it mentioned Fleetwood Mac playing in the background. At that time, I had no idea who Fleetwood Mac was. For all I knew, the band was fictional and made up for the purpose of the story. I'm not sure when I realized that Fleetwood Mac was an actual band, but I can remember pouring through their discography shortly after college and falling in love. Rumors is one of the few albums I consider perfect.

This album is like a Mozzarella Pizza or coffee: You might find someone who doesn't like it, but it's pretty hard.

Nunca me había parado a escuchar el album completo, conocía de antemano las canciones mas populares y también sabia que era un album muy bien valorado. Ahora puedo decir que con razón, es un LP redondo

one of the best albums ever and my favourite band i'd rate this 10 out of 5 if i could. not a single thing to hate

Wonderful

THE BEST ALBUM OF ALL TIME

I love this album; each song has its own unique identity yet they all share the same idea and they’re all classics, I have listened to this album before so I might be biased

Still great

Nonnih

If there was an option for 6 stars I would undoubtedly choose it. The entire album is an artistic masterpiece of instrumentals and vocals, my favorite one so far.

classic easy listening heartfelt rock

flawless give me 10 more

First impression pre listen: And there it is. The highest rated album on the site as of today. (07.07.25) There's not much to say about it that hasn't already been said. It's for good reason it has earned its rating. It's an iconic, agreeable album with a nice dash of drama to keep it exciting. I don't think it's the greatest album ever, but I certainly agree that it deserves plenty of praise even today. Myself, I've heard it countless amount of times and I expect to hear it many times again. Individual track notes: Second Hand News For the opener they've gone for a nostalgic, driving force of a song. The lyrics are snarky with a hint of venom, though they also contain some haunting melancholy. It's contrasted by the very bouncy and upbeat general sound of the track, with the fantastic harmonies and powerful drums. It's a great theme setter to kick of the album with. Great. 4.5/5 Dreams One of the greatest songs of the 1970s. There's nothing to be said about this that hasn't already been said a thousand times. A titanic masterpiece. Fantastic. 5/5 Never Going Back Again The plucky guitar is quite pleasant. Lovely vocals. The contemplative themes of the track are simple, but still quite clever. Beautiful song. Fantastic. 5/5 Don't Stop Love the tempo. Has some hope to it. Solid solo. Catchy. There's a lot more depth to the instrumental than you might expect. Really like the added texture in the background. Great. 4.5/5 Go Your Own Way Iconic. Another one of those tracks where there's very little left to be said. It's impeccable, the tragic lyrics juxtaposed with the extreme catchiness of the track is just great. Amazingly composed. Fantastic. 5/5 Songbird The slower, more intimate tempo of this song is a fantastic break from the more bombastic nature of the previous songs. Beautiful imagery. Haunting vocals. Great. 5/5 The Chain One of the coldest openings to a song ever. Awesome harmonies. I love how they've arranged the different vocal parts on the chorus to almost sound like an argument. The drums on this song are magnificent. That bass is magnetic, absolutely iconic. The tempo change is so gripping, but natural. Love how dark it gets. Fantastic. 5/5 You Make Loving Fun Good groove. Love the backing vocals. The distant guitar is at the perfect volume to remain noticable, but not distracting. The vocal melody is quite infectious and satisfying. The mystical imagery works well when paired with the themes of love. Fantastic. 5/5 I Don't Want To Know I think the main selling point for me here is the vocal melody, which is very fun to follow along with. I also think the split vocals really makes it pop. Fantastic chorus. Great. 4.5/5 Oh Daddy So the background synth is quite pleasant. The word "Daddy" has sort of been ruined forever, so it's a bit unusual to hear it used so earnestly. Kinda don't love the lyrics to this song. It's fine for it's time, but it's definitely not as fantastic as the rest of the album. The keys are however quite pretty. Decent. 3.5/5 Gold Dust Woman I really like the denseness of the instrumental, the different guitar parts adds an aura of mystery to the song. Powerful chorus. Has an extremely cool atmosphere to it. Has this turbulent and evocative imagery that really sticks with you long after the song is over. Fantastic. 5/5 Final Review: When an album is as good as this one, and so beloved at that, it really isn't that interesting to talk about. It ends up being a bit of a circlejerk where people bring up the same things over and over again. This album is great. Believe the hype. The drama surrounding it with the multiple breakups adds to the mythos around it. This results in a very emotionally charged channeling of those feelings, which gives the songs on here some additional edge. The musicianship here is stellar, and despite their dysfuntional state the band manages to maintain a complex and majestic synergy. It's a classic for many reasons, and there's not a moment where there's any doubt of its quality. 5/5

God, the beginning of “The Chain” just sends shivers down my spine every time I hear it. I could listen to that song 1000 times in a row and still get emotional. As the highest rated album on this website, I was wondering when I’d roll this one, but never expected it to be so soon. The fact that you could ask 100 people what their favorite Fleetwood Mac song is and they’d all have different answers is directly proportional to just how fucking good they are. This album is sex. I’d never actually heard it from top to bottom before but you can be damn sure I’d already heard a grand majority of the songs before today. Do I need to pick my favorites for this one? Absolutely not. Whatever trauma this band was going through somehow ended up producing what truly is one of the best albums of all time. Even the album art is iconic. Bravo!!

No notes. One of my favorite albums to listen to all the way through

Probably didn't need to listen to this again to score it but I did anyway.

This is the first time I've sat and really intentionally listened to Rumours, rather than having it in the background or individual tracks mixed in with other things. I forgot how much I love second hand news as a track and as an opener. I feel like I've done this album a disservice by deciding it was overplayed without actually concentrating before. The album is so meticulously put together and technically brilliant and I promise not to split it up again (for a while). It's a 5. It's still a 5. It was always going to be a 5. May this kind of intense in-band love/hate never find me. I may have to rethink all ratings from now on.

would rate higher if this would let me

This is just glorious. For the longest time I didn't care for it. I took it for granted, thought it was just soft rock. But I was being silly. It is huge. It is great. The songwriting is incredible. The guitar playing is out of this world. The harmony vocals and unbelievable. Have you ever watched a live band try to play the chain? You have to have a band at the top of their game in every instrument and vocal part. It's beautiful.

Probably the easiest 5* album ever. It's near the top (or right at the top) on this site for a reason, pretty much every track is a belter. Every element is good - great vocals, catchy melodies, fantastic guitar playing. Lindsey Buckingham is really underrated in the latter respect. Quality songwriting as well from 3 masters - you don't even really need to be familiar with the band's personal dynamics to appreciate the lyrics, but they certainly take on another dimension given the context. Simple 5*

I'll keep it pithy. This is great. 5.

10/10 Top ten album, for sure. It's massive for a reason - near perfect

How can I not give this 5 stars? It really is that good. Practically perfect and includes my all-time favorite Fleetwood Mac song (The Chain). Favorites: Dreams, Go Your Own Way, The Chain, Gold Dust Woman Would I listen to it again: Yes

I was driving back home tonight, and Dreams came on the radio (which in Italy is not as common as you would think) and felt instantly happy. What can I say? I love Fleetwod Mac, I love this record

not a FM fan, but this is a great album

Great album. Some of the best. Love it

What to say - we grew up w this album and our dad played it nonstop when it came out so Mike and I basically know every note every syllable and by now all the juicy band gossip :) and have loved them ever since. I was in 3rd grade when they won the Grammy for this album and still remember that night 🥰 there isn’t one note out of place here, every track is b*alls out wonderful - dreams in my opinion one of the greatest songs ever ever ever. 1 of my top 5 faves of all time and it only gets better w age

Seminal album. A near perfect 70’s rock album with solid contributions from multiple artists brilliant in their own respective way. The sum of parts is far better than anything each member created as a solo artist. This album is timeless and will endure for generations.

Empirically speaking - three songwriters at the peak of their powers delivered with near sonic perfection. The playing the singing the harmonizing the production - even the track list - flawless. Not much more to say.

Obra de ARTE

No sabía que me gustaba este grupo, conocía todo el disco. buenísimo

Why, it's an all-time classic, of course!

A crucial text of my heart

Always great

Quite possibly a top 5 album ever produced in the history of music!

Timeless album.

C'mon. I'll admit - there are a couple of skips of this - Songbird and Oh Daddy do absolutely nothing for me. But everything else is just monumental.

Standout Songs: Second Hand News Dreams Don't Stop Go Your Own Way The Chain I Don't Want To Know Gold Dust Woman A near-perfect album, masterpiece.

Phenomenal

Love Fleetwood Mac! I've listened to this album many times! probably could find it in my mother's CD or Tape collection!

Not every track is one of the most amazing things ever, but Rumours achieves landmark highs frequently enough to just keep its respect. Go Your Own Way and Dreams are both awesome and unique but what's even more awesome is that they're both on the same album... it offers variety, and shows its success in opposite sides of the spectrum all at once. And it offers so many different ways to get stuck in your head! nineteen seventy-seven beats to pack up/shack up to

Great Album

Lovely

This album would be great without the backstory. Add that in and it’s one of the best of all time.

Pretty good, except a few spots where it isn't so much.

Goat rock album

Easy 5. One of the best.

OH MY GOD, FINALLY THIS MASTERPIECE GRACES MY DAILY DROP 5*, no notes, gets better on every listen Highlights: secondhand news, never going back again, go your own way, don’t stop, the chain

"Oh Daddy" is so so bad but fortunately it doesn't spoil the overall great vibe

Every song is great

Easily one of my favorite albums of all time. There's a complete emotional range I haven't found in other music. This album takes me from the highest highs to the lowest lows. I can't get enough of it.

To paraphrase what I wrote about the Revolver, what more can be said about Rumours?

It was implied to me that if I did not rate this five stars, I would be kicked out of the group. Fortunately, it is in fact a five star album.

Greatest of all time

Chills. I love every one of these songs (literally, no fillers), but don't think I have ever sat and listened to the album in one go. HOLY WOW. I'm continually jealous that Stevie Nicks got to sing devastating break up songs right to her ex's face.

So good, such a fun album to listen to in the summer

Just a phenomenal record, some monster hits and no bad songs, such a talented group of musicians

i’ve been in love with this album since i was like 13

One of my favourite albums of all time. The rage, the tenderness, the vicious lyrics all come together to form a masterpiece of love and hate. Favourite tracks: The Chain, Gold Dust Woman, Silver Springs (deluxe edition)

These guys are great, and there is such chemistry between them! I think some of them should get together, surely that wouldn't be problematic!

One of my favourite bands. Legendary album.

I don't have anything to say about Rumours that hasn't been said a million times already. Easy 5 star

brilliant show stopping loved every minute of it never the same

This sounds like a greatest hits album. Bangers from start to finish.

Such a damn good album.

Classic. One of the very best few. The music. The lyrics. The vocals. The drama. Does not get better.

Ya lo había escuchadoooo. Albumazo obvio. Temones de principio a fin. Tiene The Chain, Dreams, Never Going Back Again (AMO) (La traté de aprender en guitarra hace años, debería volver a eso), Go Your Own Way, etc. etc.

9/10 Highlights Second Hand News The Chain

Även the chain är riktigt grym. Sen är ju resten av låtarna mer eller mindre "jättebra".

Fantastisk skiva proppad med hits och helt utan en låt ens åt det sämre hållet. Förstås en solklar femma.

This album was massive in the late 70's and everyone had a copy - part of the soundtrack to my time at university. Although I still prefer the original Fleetwood Mac (with Peter Green), this is a great album, featuring "Dreams", "Don't Stop", "Go Your Own Way", "The Chain", and "Gold Dust Woman".

It just works. There is some sort of alchemy going on here. And the production is so good. There are some weaker moments but not one dud. And that cover is iconic

Lots of Phil sector influences via Brian Wilson, however it's still early Beach boys so the lyrics are a bit juvenile.

Everything that can ever be written in praise of this album has already been done . I have a feeling my journey through 1001 albums is all downhill from here

If I could give this album a 6, I would.

Perfect album.

5 stars, no more words needed!

Ganz großes Kino!

If ever there was a perfect album, this is it.

So many great song on this

Fav: The Chain Least Fav: Never Going Back Again Ok fair enough, I can see why it’s the highest rated album on the website

One of those albums that's never not been a part of my life, such that I probably don't remind a time when I didn't know it. The earliest memory I have is watching a video of Lindsey Buckingham plucking Never Going Back Again with my dad, entranced. Watching that again now, I'm still dumbfounded at the way he makes that guitar sound. Now, I associate it most as the album I put on my record player to calm my dog down. I don't know if it actually works, but it's a good excuse to listen to it. The most enduring song, and for good reason, is Dreams. Its chorus is wonderous, of course, fortune-cookie wisdom punctuated by that great syncopation. But its the poetry of Stevie Nicks' words leading into it, evoking Poe, that continues to pierce me: "The heartbreak drives you mad in the stillness of remembering what you had and what you lost." That's never not going to hurt! Side A of this album is a monster, starting with five undeniable bangers. Even the B-side, which I have at times dismissed, absolutely kills. The Chain might have the era's greatest guitar solo? I never went deep into the drama of the band, and the whole Daisy Jones & the Six thing didn't land for me. (David Mitchell's Utopia Avenue, an adjacent piece of fiction, works better, but I'm ultimately not so sure that rock star foibles are as rife for narrativization as you'd think, perhaps with the exception of Almost Famous, which works because it's told through the eyes of a dumbstruck and then disillusioned outsider.) But damned if all that didn't create one of the greatest records ever.

Perfect album

Five stars - no question.

June 9, 2025 Album #645: Rumors by Fleetwood Mac Genre: Pop Rock, Soft Rock I can’t believe that I only first listened to this album today, haha. With that said though, what is there really for me to say? It’s fucking *Rumors*! It’s amazing track after amazing track. Please listen to this if you haven’t, it’s amazing and essential listening. Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, Light to Decent 9 Favorite Tracks: Second Hand News, Dreams, Never Going Back Again, Don’t Stop, Go Your Own Way, Songbird, The Chain, You Make Loving Fun, I Don’t Want To Know, Gold Dust Woman

It feels almost too obvious to give this five stars. Almost.

I know this album well. I have owned it on vinyl for some years and it's gets played regularly. " Chain" is my all time favourite Fleetwood Mac song. It feels... defiant. In saying that every song tells a story, ranging from pop to soul to almost ethereal sounds. This one was always getting a 5 from me.

Many memories of this one throughout the years. Widely considered one of the greatest albums of all time, and still plays frequently on radio and more than holds up after 5 decades. A slam dunk 5 banger.

I grew up with this playing in my parents living room. So these songs still hit on so many levels. All of them strong. And listening through for the millionth time still presents some cool sonic surprises. One of the best selling albums of all time created under some of the most effed up inter-band drama, along with a lot of cocaine. For some extra behind the scenes looks into the drama I recommend reading the book “Making Rumours” by engineer Ken Caillat. Pretty fascinating.

Ladies, if you don’t like this one you can turn in your big dumb hat and your white girl card! Seriously though, another inclusion that plays like a Best Of. By the time the solo on The Chain hits, the ref should be stopping the fight because it’s all over. Full five star salute.

Great album and crazy the number of great songs on this. I freaking love Never Going Back Again. Paul Davids did a great breakdown of this on his YouTubes. Worth checking out and had my respect for Lindsey Buckingham go through the roof. Also love how timeless much of these sound and are as relevant today. It feels like many of the albums on this list you have to put in the context of their time. Not this…holds up on it’s own.

The big swinging balls in the album cover art cracks me up. Oh and the tunes are pretty good I guess... 4.5/5

Every single song is pretty good at a minimum, but Don't Stop and The Chain are my top picks for sure.

Highest rated album, so I had high expectations. Also lot of Yay Area representation in this band. Album didn’t blow me away but it was a great listen. Lot of hits and solid length. Last three songs were alright.

Uh… yeah. Have this on vinyl so it was fun to listen to this how they did #prestreaming. Oh daddy lowk a dud

9/10 - I can see why this is one of the top albums basically all of the songs were good.

One of the best albums ever

Definitely better if silver springs is included, and oh daddy and don’t stop are pretty ass imo. Other songs are still good enough for this to be a 5 though

Certainly one of the greatest albums of all time. Every moment of every track is pure bliss.

My favorite album by this band. It is a classic. A complete work.

perfect pop album. never listened to full album before, so enjoyed sitting with full thing, even when knowing all the songs. great throughout

Review: this was the second album I bought as a teen, and I still love it to this day. There really isn’t a song on it that isn’t great. I like the vocals, I like the melodies, I like the musicianship -everything. I listened to it three times in a row today during the time that I would normally just listen to something once. I would give it a five.

What can I say about this album? I’ve been listening to it in one way or another since I was born. The only track I ever disliked was Oh Daddy and I found it to be more likable on this listen than I remember, although I’m still not a big fan. Other than that, it is an absolutely perfect album. The only negative is that I wish I would’ve been listening to it for the first time ever with fresh ears and been able to feel how much it blew my mind. The familiarity is comforting, but I wish I could experience that initial excitement all over again.

This is a bona fide MASTERPIECE, it is simply brilliant. I’m not actually the biggest Fleetwood Mac fan but I do love this album. I honestly can’t fault it. Top Track - So many to choose from but either The Chain or Never Going Back Again

This is a perfect album to me. Provides immense comfort when doing laundry, dishes, taking the bus, etc :3

In 1977 this album was everywhere in university residences, and rightfully so. 5 stars or A+.

Absolute banger of a record. I actually have two copies because I played the first one so much that it was wearing out. So I bought a second. But it's not like you can throw out a copy of Rumors even if it's getting a little too crackly. “Second Hand News” is the underrated bop on this one.

Undeniable that this is a 5 star record. So many great hits on here and I never considered myself a Fleetwood Mac fan, only heard things on popular radio but what I did hear I enjoyed.

💯💯
