This album was a whole lot softer than I would expect from a band named Hope headed by Courtney Love. Maybe bordering on pop music. Gave it 4 stars even though it probably only deserved 3.

I’m glad I finally listened to a full Slayer album. Grew up in the 80’s and was well aware of them but they always seemed too heavy for my taste even though I loved Iron Maiden. I think it is the lack of any melody that keeps me from being a fan. The music is aggressive and I can dig that but it just doesn’t have anything else that appeals to me. When I got the album I really wanted to become a fan this morning but 53 year old me just isn’t in the same place that 15 year old me was. Solid 3 stars even though I wanted to give it more.
