First of all, it's not my cup of tea, but I understand the artistic involvement in the album. Most of the album is based on hip-hop and trip-hop percussions over the samples, which takes me out a lot. It feels at times very noisy and uninteresting. "Stem / Long Stem / Transmission 2" was the first song to really catch me, which I enjoyed more. I wouldn't give this album more than a 4, so that is why I give this one two stars.
It's a good album, but not great. There are really nice instrumentations, but some songs feel bland. There is a big lyrical importance, which is nothing bad, but sometimes it seems like the lyrics carry all the interest of some of the songs. However, it has been a pleasant listening over all.
Some songs are good, others not. It is a decent album, but not anything I would highlight.
This album is a great example of how to play with different sounds and genres and still have cohesiveness and a good sound, without being pretentious. It is such a pleasant listening and feels fresh even decades later of its release.
This album feels boring at many times and sounds the same as many other 80's pop albums. Sadly, I do not have much to say about it.
This album is such a nice eclectic album, with a lot of different sounds, which is something that, even if I appreciate it a lot, at some point has taken me back. Some songs are great, but others feel bland, repetitive. Luckily, there are more good songs than bad ones.
This one is a good album, enjoyable, but just that. It's nothing really special, but something nice to listen to.
I don't really know what to think about this album. On the one hand, I liked some parts of it, but others felt uninteresting for me. It's not a bad album, but it lacks of something to really catch me.
This album is great, psychedelic and very bluesy. It's a very enjoyable listening, which feels short once the album has ended. However, it's not as fantastic as it is claimed to be. It's great, but not excellent. Sure it can get much better. But it's great to discover albums like this one, which I should have known about much time before.
What a fantastic album by one of the greatest! This album feels like a fresh "morning breeze" that is such a pleasant listening. I have to admit I had never listened to this album before, even though I knew of it, so it has been a great experience to finally listen to it. I was so surprised of how much bass sounds in this album.
It's a great album, with such a nice listening. It is short, but has many good tracks on it. As a debut album, it's a really strong proposal.
This album feels like a collection of unfinished songs under the tag of "experimental". I only enjoyed one song, the rest are all a mixture between jazz, indie rock and electronic music that does not sound good at all. If experimental means for Radiohead to enlarge the songs until boredom, it's exactly what the album is, an uninteresting, bland and uninspired intention of making something that ends up sounding rough and repetitive. A very good example of this is Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors.
This album is full of theatricality, which makes of it something great and a very diverse album. It is such an enjoyable album that catches you from start to begging. I have to admit it has impressed me.
It's a good album, nothing impressive with the exception of some tracks. I wouldn't say it's as good as many people say it is, but it's definitely an enjoyable and, many times, interesting album.
The first thing about this album is that it's... AWESOME! Of course, they are the Rolling Stones, but this Exile On Main Street is a great example of how good they can be, in every song. Even being over more than an hour long, this album feels short, being a timeless masterpiece.
It's a very warm and melodic album, which is sometimes nice, but it's nothing really special. It's just a nice collection of songs, but there is nothing in the album that really stands out.
Magnificent as Queen can be, this album is a must, so diverse and grandiose, in a very good sense, in its best sense.
It's such an impressively great album. It has a very interesting combination of sounds, even though the album has a main blues rock sound. Faithfull's voice matches so good the songs, giving them a very original touch.
After the very sad news yesterday of the death of Ozzy, there was no other possible album to listen to today than this first Black Sabbath album, a testament and begging not only of a band but of a whole musical genre. The gothic atmospheres, fantastic solos, and the recognizable voice of Ozzy, which matches perfectly the sound of the album, make of this first heavy metal album an all time masterpiece that shows the greatness of a band like Black Sabbath. And, wherever Ozzy is, long life the Prince of Darkness, because a legacy like his never dies.
This album is a great and versatile pop record, crowned by Christina's powerful voice, which is always such a pleasure to listen to. It has a lot of textures and different genres, all combined with great taste in a very cohesive record.
I have tried this album, I have tried Coldplay βand this one is not the first album I have listened to of themβ, but they are just not for me. This album is bland and repetitive. Almost the entire album feels like a whole song on repeat, on and on (and on). Maybe it is because of how simple the structure of the songs is, but also plain and... sincerely, this is Coldplay, sometimes prejudices are not far from reality. I knew it wasn't for me and, after listening to it, I can conclude I wasn't wrong. This album is just not good.
I liked it, but I didn't love it. This album is a good one, it's interesting in many aspects, but lacks of more development, at least for my like. I really appreciate the influence it had on the metal genre (and specially some of its subgenres), and I'm glad that albums like this one are part of that musical journey. When I finished listening to it I wondered how fast the time passed. It has been such a pleasant listening.
When the album started I thought it was nice but, as the songs went on, I started to lose interest on it. It's 90's alt rock... If you like it, good for you, but something that sounds like an Oasis album with some electronic sounds and bland intros (so you call it psychedelic β if the endlessly repetitive, ambient and uninteresting Pete International Airport is not an example of this but extrapolated to a whole "song") and repetitive lyrics is just not for me. Some songs weren't bad, but I wouldn't listen to the whole album again just to listen to them (in case I would want to listen to them again, which is not my intention for now). At least the last song, The Creep Out, is a nice ending with a better psychedelic attempt (if the album had more of it instead of... nearly all the rest).
This album is... horrible. I don't know how I've listened this entire collection of stupid, repetitive and boring stuff. I hate hip-hop, and that's the perfect example of why. There are nice hip-hop songs, but most of them are the same garbage, and that album is even worse... Almost an hour of... this!!?? Really? I feel like I've lost my time today.
I don't know how to call this album, but most of the songs sound the same (if not every single one of them). If it had more personality of its own I would have liked it more, but that folk-county based on long, boring and repetitive songs is not something I'm into. What I liked the most are some instrumentals, which are delicious. I understand it's more of a lyrical album, but if the songs are bland, I just can't focus on anything else than... when is "I Dream a Highway" going to end? Really, its length is unjustified, it's the same melody on repeat for over a quarter of hour.
This one is a really surprising album. I've enjoyed it so much, and, as the songs go on, it keeps getting better. I didn't know what to expect, I thought it wasn't going to be much of my like, but it has been such a pleasant listening.
It's a really good album, but not impressive enough to make me love it. It's not a 10 for me, but truly a 9. It's a very pleasant experience, with great instrumentations, Miles Davis is a great performer, and this album is the reflection of the work of talented people. I need more listens to really love it, but surly it's a great one. After all, it's Miles Davis, the album can't be anything but great.
Red Hot Chili Peppers is a band that, despite its popularity, is nothing really special nor amazing. This album is a good one, some tracks are really nice, but there is some filler there also. It would have benefited from being shorter... or more inspired at least. At least the last song ends the album in a great way.
What a surprisingly great album, so full of different sounds and originality. It's funny without losing its musical interest and experimentation. It's strange yet so enjoyable. And all of that with a great taste that makes of this album a fantastic musical experience.
Well, I swear I try to be open-minded but... This was horrible! And I knew it even before listening to the album. At least it's not the worst thing I've heard of the list, but, why is it supposed to be an album I should listen before dying? I get there are many different genres on the list (and that one of the main goals of listening to those albums is to enlarge our musical tastes and discover new stuff), but, is it really that good for people who like rap and hip-hop? Because this sounded really really bad. Maybe it's that I don't get what people find interesting on those things, but I'm fine with what I like, and, no thanks, I can say I tried those genres, but that's not for me. I'm not going to pretend I like it, this album is boring, tasteless and sometimes (if not many times - just look at some lyrics!) stupid.
What a fantastic, delightfully perfect album! It's robotic, futuristic but also terribly human. I can't describe with words how marvelous the listening experience was. The electronic genre has evolved a lot, but that very human interaction in this album gives it a very warm sound. I have to listen to this one many more times, I've definitely loved it.
I wasn't expecting much of it, mostly because I once tried to listen to the whole thing. But, after (finally) listening to the full album, it just feels bad and bland. There were a few songs that weren't that bad or I even liked, but this album is just too much. And it's too much grunge for today too. If Nirvana was successful is because of the times in which they were making music, but they are nothing special, and, even sometimes, they are bad... Like really bad! There are other ways to try to avoid to be mainstream (if it was really what they wanted, which I'm not really sure to be true).
When I saw it was a rock album I didn't think it was going to be a very house influenced record but... whatever. It's nice, funny and with some interesting textures and different sounds, but it's not a really good album though. Some house tracks have been too much for me but other songs were good, so I'm divided with my opinion about this album. If some songs were shorter it would have been much better, but I really appreciate all the work done on this album and how many sounds coexist in this very diverse record.
Some albums are great and others are excellent timeless masterpieces. This one is of the second group, being a testament of Madonna proving for the seventh time (and not last) why she is the Queen of Pop. This album comes from one of the most reflective and creative times of all of her career, for which she went deep into the electronic music and meditation, rediscovering herself and giving a new perspective and dimension to her career. Ray of Light is a diverse yet very cohesive album, with great pop songs. The pop genre dives into lots of textures and fantastic lyrics in this record, that would shape the genre for future generations. This album is not just pop, it's electronica, rock, a bit of folk, and, overall, Madonna at her best shape.
This album is great from beginning to end. All the songs are excellent and so full of Presley's energy. Fantastic and so enjoyable, this album is a classic, if you like it or not. Great for Elvis!
At first, I thought I would like this album more than I actually do. It's a really bad record, very 80's pop, but in a very bad sense. It feels uninspired and full of filler. I didn't like it, that's all.
This album is great, irreverent and funny, a really rocker record that is such a surprisingly enjoyable listening.
