The definition of music is poetry. Definitely not my kind of music but a big fan. There were some songs I didn't really enjoy though, so that's why it got bumped down to 4.
While the nostalgic vibes were there, I could not get into it. All of the songs sounded the same, and the lyrics which were supposed to be "hauntingly beautiful" were rather mediocre. The songs went on for too long and seemed meaningless. There are maybe 1-2 I enjoyed, and the rest fell dramatically flat. The fact that this won AOTY is shocking, as all four other albums were more deserving.
Genuine Ranking: 3.5/10
This album designates the Ramone's signature sound, fundamental punk rock, nothing fancy. While I enjoyed the listen, all of the songs started meshing. I enjoyed it, but I wish there were more originality instead of doing one sound well 14 times.
I was a big fan of The Temptations before listening, and I'm an even bigger fan afterward. This is more slower and relaxing compared to the other things I have heard from them, but I loved it. Lyrics were flawless, and Otis Williams is a vocal legend. Papa Was A Rolling Stone is a certified classic, and Love Woke Me Up This Morning has been in my rotation for the entire day. Amazing all around.
All the reviews that said this album is one of the best lied to you. Same with the people who said it was absolute garbage. This album is good, not amazing, not terrible, good. I hate that I'm giving this four stars because it deserves 3.5, a 7/10. It's better than a 3, but worse than a 4. All the songs were good, and I like they were willing to try different, even if the end result wasn't great in my opinion. This is an album that everyone must listen to, but it will not be an album everyone will enjoy.
This album is fucking bonkers. There's a lot going on, and Gabriel tries many different things. You can tell he's trying to find his signature sound. Some of it was fantastic (Moribund the Burgermeister), and others weren't (Humdrum). I appreciate the risk and the inventive nature of this album, but the majority of the songs fall flat after Solsbury Hill.
The instrumentals are fine, the lyrics are meh, but the vocals, holy shit are they bad. He sounds like Mick Jagger's much shittier younger brother Dick. Absolute rubbish. Ruins the whole album for ya.
If music can make you feel such strong emotions, then it has done its job of moving you. Drake's debut should be considered one of the best debut albums of all time. He was a lyrical maestro whose untimely passing at 26 left the musicians' world with a gaping hole in its heart. The mystical feel of the songs transports you to a place where you never wish to leave. I wish I could listen to this album for the first time again, as it is an experience I will never forget.
The definition of when you order a steak at a restaurant and you say you want it medium rare, but it comes out medium. You know the steak would've been better medium rare and you're disappointed it isn't, but you still enjoy it.
People who don't like this album are the people who think rollercoasters are only for kids. They're just snobby and sticks in the mud. It's not a perfect album, but it's fun, and when you're from New Jersey, it's practically illegal to dislike Bon Jovi. That might make me a bit biased, but this album is full of stadium anthems and is the definition of a good time. Livin' On A Prayer and You Give Love A Bad Name are absolute classics, and the non-singles are great.
This album is excellent, but it got a couple of skips. The pros greatly outweigh the cons.
Overall, it's a great album, and an extremely fun listen. Some of the songs get a little repetitive with the lyrics. Also, some of the songs on the album (Can U Keep A Secret, Transmitting Live From Mars, De La Orgee) are genuinely unnecessary and take away from the album.
Your grandmother definitely felt some magical things while listening to this.
The originality of this album was superb, and the mariachi-western vibe was interesting and made for a fun listen. Some songs took longer to get into than others, but they were all good across the board.
I genuinely thought I would hate this album when it popped up, and boy was I wrong. It was so psychedelic and mysterious and took you on a trip you never wanted to leave. Makes me interested in listening to more of their stuff.
Not good. I enjoy hip hop but this just had me bored. Very repetitive and bland.
It's fine, nice lyricism and storytelling. GIves coffee store vibes, it's the music you'd hear before Phoebe Buffay sings Smelly Cat on Friends. Very Lisa Loeb-esque.
This album is long af, pretty decent though. Fitzgerald's voice is soothing and lovely.
Fine. Majority of songs are blah, but really enjoyed Somebody To Love and Embryonic Journey.
Fifty-seven minutes and eight seconds of my life that I will never get back.
Good, but I didn't really have anything stand out to me. Enjoyed the beat and funk though.
Not a big metalhead, but greatly enjoyed this album.
I'm normally not a fan of the largely-instrumental tracks but I found myself enjoying this. This definitely will be great to hear on vinyl and seems perfect for any somewhat-upscale gathering. Seems like great studying music too.
I genuinely don't know what I just listened to. The one thing I do know though, I did not enjoy it.
Love the music, hate the lyrics. Super hipster stuff. I enjoyed Intervention though.
Super nostalgic for me, reminds me of a Sunday dinner at my Nonna's house. Enjoyed it greatly.
I loved The Doors, and I love them so much more now. All of the songs on this album are phenomenal. It's the exact album I needed today. 5/5, glorious, nothing but perfection.
This album is mid ya know what I'm sayin?
BOR-ING. It's the same stuff 10 times, and I didn't like it the first time. This is the music your dad plays and says "they don't make music like this anymore." Not proving your case well, Pa.
Decent. Heard better and heard worse.
I enjoyed some of the sounds, and I feel this album kind of designated their signature sound, which I happen to enjoy. Very trial and error, but the next couple of albums make this one pay off. Good, but not great. Great starting spot for them.
I absolutely adore this album. Every single song (with the exception of Behold A Lady) was a solid 4.5/5. Shoutout to Andre 3000 and Big Boi for making one of the best hip-hop albums ever. It's fucking fantastic.
Pretty good, but all the music starts to sound very similar. The first song was flawless.
This album is fantastic. I listened to Baduizm recently and was happy that this album popped up. I greatly enjoyed it, it was a fun listen. I'm a sucker for soul and funk; Badu weaved in hip-hop seamlessly.
I'm just really confused. It's okay, but nothing really sticks out to you.
Even if you enjoyed this album, you gotta admit it gets repetitive. The lyrics were never my favorite, with the exception of a few songs, but the music was top-notch. Some songs, however, I genuinely did not enjoy.
Really really enjoy the lyricism that Buckley has in his songs, but sometimes I'm just not a fan of the instrumental tracks. They don't really feel like they mesh. That's my only complaint though, enjoy every other facet and the near-perfect 2nd half of the album.
I felt violated. It was either a shitty song, softcore porn, or both.
This album is like a warm hug during a thunderstorm telling you everything will be okay. I did not think I would enjoy this, but this album was one of the most enjoyable experiences. It's nice to get out of all the British new wave and shitty UK drill for good old-fashioned country tunes. The perfect album to sit out on the porch in your rocking chair with a glass of sweet tea. 5/5, 10/10.
Everyone has that one somewhat-iconic musician or band that they just don't enjoy or don't get the hype for. For me, it's easily U2. This whole album was bland, like a boiled potato. I appreciate the message, but it definitely could've been done better.
It's pretty fun, and I enjoyed the inventive nature of the album. Besides the first track, nothing was super special.
Horrid. Just awful. The fact that people have given it positive reviews baffles me. Don't you care about your ears?
I really enjoyed this. I was familiar with Duran Duran's mainstream songs but all of the other songs as well. None were 10/10 (besides Hungry Like The Wolf), but it was a super fun listen.
I enjoyed the album, but enough to give it more than a 3. I get that they're a jam band, but some of the songs were frankly too long. I mean 23 minutes, that's fucking bonkers. It's also great quality for live performances, props to that!
Illmatic's better, but it's still a 5/5.
No, just no. This album was absolutely awful. If I could give it a 0, I would have.
Pretty good. I loved Jump since I was young, and the rest is simple 80s hair band rock. Nothing special, but still enjoyable.
The one thing that I hate seeing through the reviews is when someone shows obvious bias (shown with some people's great disdain for pop, hip hop/rap, 80s, etc.) They'll say "I despise hip-hop", "all 80s music sounds the same" and never give the material a fair chance when majority of the time the music is strong. This website gives you an album a day to listen to and helps expose us to music that we otherwise would've never listened to, so we need to put out biases aside. Everyone's entitled to have their opinion, but every album's entitled to have a fair chance and just be judged it on source value only.
That being said, this is an extremely solid pop album. The latin, jazz, and R&B influences on this album are strong, and Aguilera's vocals are stellar throughout. Each song is poignant, and while they're all not perfect, they send an important message. Some of these songs will be getting a relisten, and helps show that pop music could and should be enjoyed by those of all ages. (On the sour side, this album is a little too long.)
Meh, expected more out of it. Constant repetitive lyrics and subpar vocals. Enjoy the instruments though.
Really solid jazzy record. Peaches in Regalia is a certified banger.
If Fatboy Slim cared a little more about the music he made, and made slightly better music, he would be Moby.
It's decent music for when you're zooted, but not for much else. It's just a bunch of random ass noises and blubber.
5/5, Classic Stevie, one of my favorite albums. So glad I got to relisten to it. He's Misstra Know It All and Higher Ground are on multiple playlists of mine.
Solid Elvis album. Being one of my dad and grandmother's favorite artists Presley was a cornerstone of my childhood. I've always enjoyed his music, but I really enjoyed this one. Old Elvis (age-wise), developing that sort of raspy voice and hearing it was magical. Overall well done, not 100% perfect, but exceptionally well done. Strong 2nd half.
Just not my cup of tea. Enjoyed Soul Auctioneer though.
Solid Dad rock. I became a Steely Dan fan after listening to this album.
An objectively perfect album from start to finish. I'm so happy I got this album on my birthday. There are few, if many vocalists better than Aretha.
Decent. All of the songs started to mesh around halfway through, some songs were not for the faint of hearing.
Good album title because that's exactly what this album is: repetitive. The songs are so indistinguishable it's baffling.
Exceed the little expectations I had. Somewhat profound lyrics with excellent instrumentals, great listen!
British to the core. It's solid, and it's an extremely fun listen. The opening track is amazing.
This album screams Call Me By Your Name. It blends in with whatever you're doing, you lose track of time (in a bad way), and is genuinely forgettable. Good studying music though, I gotta give it that.
No Revolutionary War allegory. 3/5.
Solid instrumentals and vocals. I get why people give it a 5/5, but this music isn't my cup of tea. Went in with an open mind and this is what came out.
If this were made during peak ear rape era, all the 7th-grade meme lords would play this non-stop.
Solid. Big fan of folk and this did not disappoint.
Not what I expected, in a really bad way. What in the actual fuck was this?
Pretty solid, much better than a three, but undeserving of a four. Majority of the songs were a bop.
Awful. If a shitty IT company had music for when you would be put on hold; that would be it.
Very middle of the road. The last couple songs were rather dumb but everything else was somewhat enjoyable.
Phonomenal from start to finish. An absolute powerhouse of an album.
Pretty good, but pretty forgetable.
I was so excited to see this album pop up on my computer. It was phenomenal, and every song was poignant and incredibly written. The references are phenomenal and keep you hooked. There's something for everyone. If I could give this album 10 stars I would.
It was okay, rather forgettable. Shows me I enjoy David Bowie and not Iggy Pop.
Good album, but was pretty inconsistent in quality and got a little drab at times.
Solid album, not my cup of tea personally but there were parts I did enjoy. This is the only album I've reviewed so far where I can get behind every review someone has.
Solid album. A great listen, I became a Velvet Underground fan after this.
Blah lyrics with Ozzy's voice, how fun is that! Cool instrumentals and riffs, I gotta give it that.
STICK IT TO THE MAN! RAHHHHHHHH!
Extremely well-done album. Each song is memorable in its own way and they all stick out. After all the repetitive albums I've gotten on this website, I"m so happy I got something genuinely original and exciting with each new song.
Lyrically flawless, an amazing story, and an amazing message told through amazing songs. Simple as that.
It gets a little bit repetitive, but I feel that's why it's so charming. Good across the board.
Solid folk album. Nothing really else to add, this album kinda speaks for itself.
Pretty solid. A new-wave album that doesn't take itself too seriously and is good fun. This is the kind of music I can get behind.
Overall pretty good. Some songs were unnecessarily long and a little too repetitive, but it's much better than some of the albums this website's given me.
Scrumptious. The levels of funk and infinite groove might not ever be recreated again. Shoutout George Clinton, may the grooves be with you.
Music for when you're waiting for your table at Cracker Barrel.
Hendrix's riffs are the main reason this album gets a 5. While the songs are great across the board, with some being phenomenal, without Hendrix's masterclass on the guitar this album wouldn't have been as memorable or good.
It's Sinatra so it will never be awful, but this album was a little too long song-wise. This rating would've been much higher if he could've condensed this to maybe 12 songs.
Vocals make you wish you were Helen Keller. Quite horrid, and the repetitive, yet decent instrumentals don't help here either
Thoroughly enjoyed this, and thought I was gonna hate it when it popped up. It wasn't perfect but it was so enjoyable and the lyrics were beautiful. Great listen.
Decent, I'm not a a big fan of punk so this was somewhat delightful for me.
Fever Dream, but in a good way.
The first half was much better than the second, but it was still really good. Not the biggest fan of country but was pleasantly surprised.
Nothing special, and this isn't even the album with Paper Planes on it!
This would be a 1 but I Want You To Want Me exists to it's a 2.
Everything about this album is glorious, from the lyricism to the instrumentals to the cover of the album. It's absolutely phenomenal.
Honestly, I'm a little disappointed, I felt there was such potential with this album, and the result was okay. Decent 6.
A magical, mystical little journey. This was not my cup of tea, but it wasn't completely terrible. Hunting Song was kinda fire.
Very very good, but it felt like every song followed the exact same template and Ozzy's voice isn't exactly one of my favorites. Everything else was solid.
First half was much better than the second, decent across the board.
A perfectly fine album. Kind of generic, but charming.
An absolutely exceptional debut album for Morissette. While I believe it has moments where it slights drones on, it is an exceptional album, showcasing her vocal ability. It makes sense why this is considered to be one of the quintessential albums of the 90s.
One of the first albums of the new millennia. And to be completely honest, it's good, not great, but good. I was very content listening to this. It screams 3.5 /5, but I can't give SO KNOW that I want to give this a 3.5 not a 3. The Cedar Room also sounds a lot like Yellow by Coldplay.
Pretty solid album, even after not being the biggest fan of Springsteen's voice.
I didn't think I would enjoy this album as much as I did, because this genre is not one of my top choices. However, this is everything I enjoy about this genre kind of rolled into one, so this was a pleasant surprise for me.
It's just a conversation with some guitars and drums in the background. There's little singing, and when there is singing, it's kinda okay. Also, why is a song almost eight minutes long when the lyrics end before the three-minute mark? I get having some music after the lyrics end, but FIVE WHOLE MINUTES is wayyyy too much.
Decent, in every sense of the word.
Overall, it was pretty good. I was fairly familiar with R.E.M.'s music before this review. However, I had never listened to an album from them. The vocals and lyrics were on point, and the overall vibes were immaculate. However, there are some songs I wasn't the biggest fan of, which bumps it down from a 5/5.
I don't think I've ever been more confused after finishing an album. I think I enjoyed it, but I genuinely don't know.
Your dad definitely loves this album. The first few songs were enjoyable, but the songs became different ways of saying the same stuff after a while. Repetitive beyond belief.
It's the music you would hear in the backrooms, very liminal space. If I were high, I'd enjoy this, but I'm not so it's a 1.
ITS YULETIDE BITCHESSSSS MERRY MF CHRISTMAS! such a 5/5, best album made by an actual fucking ballsack of a human
Not completely awful, I usually am the biggest hater of electronica music, but this I kind of enjoyed. It had many bits and pieces I liked, and was overall a surprisingly somewhat-pleasant listen.
When I thought I was warming to electronica, Fatboy Slim made me return to my senses. Repetitive beyond belief, utter rubbish.
Waters is a LEGEND of the blues scene, and this album proves why.
Not as good as Newport 1960, but still a solid listen.
The storytelling and lyricism in this is absolutely great. I never thought I'd enjoy this album as much as I did; such a relaxing listen.
It's fine, kinda weird, but I like some of it, a couple of glimmers of hope.
I usually don't like punk rock, but I genuinely am a slut for a concept album, so I guess this is the exception. I think the only thing about this album I don't like is the song length (not the songs with a "/," but Jesus of Suburbia and Homecoming); they both could've been cut down to five minutes and have been better songs in my opinion.
one more time with feeling!
The instrumentals on this album are phonomenal, but I really couldn't get behind the vocals and lyricism. It worked on some of the songs, but not on the majority of them.
Very strong beginning, but it fizzles out towards the middle, and then somewhat resurrects itself towards the end. Overall a great listen.
I think what makes this album for me is the guitar, it's fucking phenomenal. While the lyrics aren't always perfect in my opinion, the guitar and the other instruments always make up for it.
This is what your jazz band would play in high school. You'd be interested and like the performance, but you'd genuinely forget about it when you walk out of the auditorium.
It's an album and a comedy show!
Subpar songs, but live! That makes it worse!
The new wave influences in this were strong, and they made the album.
With long albums, there tends to be a lack of cohesion, and I feel that to be the case with this album. While the majority of the songs I enjoyed, the lack of cohesion made this album slightly less enjoyable. This album could've been cut down to 18-20 songs and been a solid 8-9/10.
Extremely solid album, with River being the glaring star for me. Great storytelling by Mitchell.
I understand the amount of albums and musicians that were inspired by the Wu-Tang Clan, and this album was good, but that's it. Everything about it was good, and they have a unique style that's rather charming.
Excellent instrumentals, excellent lyricism, and storytelling, but the vocals are fine, nothing to write home about. Some of the songs weren't my favorite either.
Fine. Freedom! '90 is the obvious star, and everything else sort of falls flat
I would be deaf not to notice this album's impact. However, it was not my cup of tea, not in the slightest.
The lead guy was shouting the entire time, and I understand how poignant this is, so it makes me appreciate it ever so slightly. The rage was definitely there, but my enjoyment was not.
Was he trying to be different and quirky? Possibly, but this was not it. It's a big no from me, dawg.
In a word: Enlightening
This is one of the best albums this generator has given me. For how original each and every song is, this album is shockingly cohesive, which is a big accomplishment compared to some of the other albums I've reviewed.
It was such an out-of-body experience that I wish I could have again for the first time. Utter perfection.
The fact that this WAS NOT used in American Horror Story: Freak Show was insane. It's a magical, mystical ride that I wasn't expecting... but kind of enjoyed.
I understand why someone enjoys this, but it's definitely not me. This is played daily at Marshall's though.
Very similar to Simon and Garfunkel but still remains true to Simon as an artist. Great album overall.
I like the blues genre because of the instrumentals associated with it, not really because of the lyrics. This album is the perfect example of that. It has excellent, second-to-none instruments with meh lyrics. It has a good singing voice, though.
Every song on the album is fine, the majority of them overstay their welcome. I'm happy that they refined their sound and have greatly improved since this.
It's so painfully okay. Speedy Marie was a highlight, though. Everything just sort of dragged on, if the album was like 16 songs I might've given it a 4.
Nice charming album. The vocals were stellar, but I don't know why it just fell flat. It was good, don't get me wrong. I think I expected every song to be like Coat of Many Colors, but it was proven wrong.
Not a fan. This is the type of music your boomer uncle puts on when he tries to persuade you and your cousins that "music was so much better in my day." This was like an LSD trip at a haunted circus where the clowns are zombies chasing you for your brain. No bueno. There is no redeeming factor in this. At all.
The amount of introspection and storytelling on this album is wonderful. I love hip-hop when the lyricism is on point because, in my opinion, a good beat can only take you so far (the main reason why I don't enjoy the majority of mainstream hip-hop). This album is a solid listen across the board, with Me Against The World being my main highlight.
Somewhat enjoyable and completely original. But wasn't my cup of tea. Lyrics were okay, but the instrumentals and beat was wonderful.
Your grandparents would slow dance to this in their kitchen in 1957. It's utterly beautiful, and there isn't a single thing I would change. I just wish I could be able to listen to this again for the first time.
Rather ethereal and funky, and I think that's what I enjoyed the most about it. Unfortunately, that's where my enjoyment ends. The first half was much better than the second, as the latter is lacking pretty much in the everywhere department.
Meh. Minus one for racism.
It was good, liked the instrumentals and background a hell of a lot more than I liked the actual vocals and lyrics. But still a good listen.
It's not as close to the magnitude of Rumors, but it's still a rather good album, with Sara being the obvious highlight for me.
There is genuinely nothing special about this album. There are millions of psychedelic rock albums that came out in the 1960s that are way better than this. It is rather repetitive, but it gets a 2 because I have definitely heard worse.
First Bowie album this website has given me and it did not disappoint. It's a pretty solid album, and even though I didn't know any of the songs going in, I enjoyed the majority of them.
Solid album, but this isn't the best album of all time. Sorry, depressed millennials.
The album is pretty solid, except for the vocals. Nails on a chalkboard, and the chalkboard is on fire.
The vocals are absolutely horrid. Everything else is solid.
Janis needs a cough drop after all the fucking screeching she did.
Oh, how wonderful was this! I very rarely get jazz on the generator, so when I do, it's always a treat, and this was no exception.
Nowhere near his best album but still pretty good.
Not a fan. Wasn't completely ear-bleedingly awful, so it doesn't constitute a 1.
I find it really funny that a band named Silver Jews has a song called Horseleg Swastikas
This WAS NOT an album I needed to hear before I die. What a waste of thought.
Decent. For all the soul and Motown that came out of the 1960s, I have heard so much better. None of it was bad, it just fell flat.
Guitar is absolutely off the charts, but everything else isn't that special.
These are songs YouTube personalities would come out with in like 2015 to have as their quirky little side quest.
Excellent lyrics with wonderful instrumentals.
This album has extremely high highs, and while there are some definite lows, the highs dramatically make up for it.
Side note: I really dislike people who hate pop music for no reason. Just because you dislike pop music doesn't mean you'll dislike every pop album. Take a fucking chill pill and stop being so pretentious.
Painfully Average. Every sound sounded exactly the same.
I heard "It's all a load of bollocks" too many times to take this album seriously. It was fun, so it gets some brownie points, but nothing can change its rating from a deserved 1.
Very well made. However, it falls flat in their future projects, as most music does.
Really solid album. The cover of I Heard It Through The Grapevine was unnecessarily long, and some of the lyrics in the song didn't necessarily mesh with me, but this was definitely an album I enjoyed.
Some pleasant moments but there was so much music in this vein that sounds a million times better.
I got Cosmo's Factory a couple days before this one, and that album was better in my opinion. Still a solid album, it just fell flat in more places.
chaotic good. that's kind of the best way to put it.
The first few songs were miles better than whatever was in the second half. Nico also has a really weird voice, which is rather eclectic if you're into that sort of thing.
It's perfectly okay. I think I had really high expectations for this album, and they didn't match them.
I love the baseball scene from Twilight!
It's pretty cool, but it's mediocre.
It was good just not my cup of tea
Every song feels so much longer than it actually is.
This is trying SO HARD to be something it's not. It's meaningless, bland, and boring.
Common: The Wise Old Sage Of Rap
Le Freak is the strong standout, but every other song slightly overstays its welcome.
If I listened to this for the first time at 2 AM, it would've been the easiest 5 I could've given. Still really solid though.
not so crazy, somewhat sexy, but pretty cool.
groovy but those songs are WAYYY too long
do you ooh-we-sha-coo-coo-yeah?
Great first half, mediocre second half.
extremely fun to listen to, solid across the board
every song on this album is extremely well-written with great instrumentals
art in its purest form. utter perfection (with the exception of that car song)
This album is just like plain yogurt. It has the potential to be so much better, but it's perfectly okay the way it is.
Claire Fisher from Six Feet Under would love this!
It's a decent album, but the constant 15 to 30-second introduction kind of took me out of the experience. This is why I absolutely loathe live albums.
Still better than anything Elvis Costello has ever made.
Not my cup of tea, but I completely understand why this has the acclaim it does.
The organ is pretty cool. Everything else isn't.
I really enjoyed this album. There's just an originality factor that I love.
Painfully bad. Every song initially was fine, but they each got so much worse. It's kinda baffling.
There's a lingering aftertaste of immaturity, but it's still a decent album.
A lot of good guitar doesn't constitute a great album. It wasn't awful by any means necessary, but I kind of expected more.
It has some charm, but that's really it.
Everything is really good about this album except the personality of the lead singer.
Not the best album in their discography but had a bunch of highlights.
The lyrics can get repetitive, but Aretha's voice partially makes up for it.
Quite funky and original, but in a way where I don't know if I'd want to listen to it again
Every song is really good, but they all genuinely mesh into one so it's hard to distinguish them.
I can respect Davis's artistry in this album, but it's not really my cup of tea.
Not only is this the best quality live album I've ever heard, this is one of the best albums this website has ever given me. Cooke's voice is infectious and silky smooth and it's a shame that he left us so soon.
there's an inordinate amount of repetitiveness in this album, which went on for too long. red red wine is already one of my least favorite songs ever, so this solidifies me as an UB40 hater for life.
This has a really interesting sound that I'm digging about half of the time, and the other half is just kinda mediocre.
way too much yelling. drums were solid though.
enjoyable, just not memorable.
if you're in your feels i highly recommend this album. if i listened to this maybe a week ago, i would rate this a 5 with no hesitation.
super original, and really interesting vocals. i just don't think it's anything worth exploring for a second time.
i hate that such a bad person was involved in making such a phenomenal album.
i might just be really tired already but this album is genuinely putting me to sleep.
you can hear a lot of bands musical stylings and signature sounds while listening to this album, but in my opinion they just do it a little bit better.
unlistenable. i'm normally a big lover of folk music but i find his voice and lyrics so grating and uninspired i wanna throw myself into a wall. boo.
if this album were 12 tracks it would've been a 4.
this one is much better than the other album i previously reviewed from him, effortless rhythm.
this blew out my HOLE so fiercely. i was so pleasantly surprised with how much i enjoyed this. not perfect but absolutely wonderful.
the only reason why this album gets streams is because of this website. i want my 78 minutes back.
for how good all the instruments are these vocals would've been better if a just toddler just scribbled on a piece of paper and they attempted to sing that.
overall a really good album. majority of the songs didn't hit as hard as wasting time and hotel california, i thought this was a definite great listen.
it's fine, but for how good his songwriting is, dylan's voice shouldn't have graced a microphone as much as it did.
i get the novelty and how revolutionary this album was, but to me, this album is lacking a little bit in the everywhere department. it's lacking pizazz.
*unintelligble twink moan*
i'm happy to say that i've listened to this album, however i don't this will be put into any of my playlists
i think there's a lot of positive things to say about this album. charles's voice is smooth as silk, and the background vocals help transport back to a much simpler time. a lot of the lyrics were the same, but overall it's a great listen.
it was fine, but didn't belong on this list.
really enjoyable, but it just droned on for a little bit. one song has NINE whole minutes of instrumentals at the end which is a little bit unnecessary for me.
the participation trophy of albums. every song extremely overstays its welcome.
it's good, but repetitive.
the lyrics are otherworldly but I could never give this album a 5 because I don't like Bob Dylan's voice.
pretty good, it's just a lot of the same, and each song was like 15 seconds too short for it to make an impact to me. his version of blue moon was also not my favorite.
not as good as ok computer, but still a solid listen.
green onions is phenomenal but literally every other song on this album is a cover which sounds like they added 5% of green onions into.
it's good, but for all the hip-hop that came out during this time, i've heard better.
not my cup of tea but it was fine.
i completely understand why people enjoy this album, but this just isn't my cup of tea.
absolutely wonderful jazz album. something like this only gets made once in a lifetime and thank you miles davis for blessing us with this utter gift.
great album. a couple hiccups bump it down from a 5, but it's a very high 4.
It's extremely impressive that this entire album was all improvised, and it shows a true testament to Jarrett's skill as a pianist. However, this album didn't grab me as much as I thought. It was still a good listen, but nothing I imagine myself going back to at any point.
i genuinely didn't think i would enjoy this album as much as i do. it certainly isn't perfect, but there's a huge returnability factor for me, and that's so crucial for any album.
decent songwriting with a lead vocalist who sounds like he's getting kicked in the dick for 46 minutes and 24 seconds.
this album is my 13th reason. it's just flat out dumb, and i know i might not be "getting it" but i don't know where would be to get. it's just dookie.
this album is america in the 1980s wrapped up in a nice little bow. america minus all the aids fearmongering, but ya know, still a great album.
this album opened my eyes on the profound impact of phenomenal songwriting. paul simon and art garfunkel created magic every time they touched the microphone.
holy fuckballs this was amazing. everything just felt right, removing one song or adding one would've dampened the album. it seems like they were meticulous with everything, which is really weird to say about nirvana.
great songwriting, great instrumentals, great vocals.
this album is the antithesis of pride month. it's completely original, and i mainly enjoyed it so i'll give it brownie points.
"i love you like a fat kid loves cake"
my life would've been the same if i never listened to this album. decent, but incredibly forgettable. the only bit of quality this album has is the cover.
who am i was perfectly good, but nothing else was anything special.
they're like a church choir consisting of people with annoying and off-key voices. awful, but there's a slight charm, because one of your friend's grandparents is in the choir and they're super cool.
jazz really isn't my sort of thing but i thought it was great
never have i listened to an album where every single song is absolutely phenomenal.
i genuinely don't know why i love this album as much as i do, but it's everything that i want jazz to be.
painfully mediocre compared to all the amazing rock music that came out during this time.
it's no nevermind, but it's still a great album.
decent, but there's no chance i will ever return to this album.
file this under "decent, but won't listen to again"
holy mastership in songwriting.
a little too kooky for my liking.
massively underwhelming considering the albums they came out with after this.
started out great, but lost steam after roundabout, and never got back to where it needed to go.
for an album that released 35 years ago, there's a real freshness to it. anything with flavor flav is bound to be great too, look at flavor of love!
"you don't have to say love me" is one of my favorite songs so i was excited when she popped up here. this album was everything i expected it to be and more, it was just utter bliss. like a warm hug on a cold day.
for all the psychedelic/folk rock that came out in the 60s, i've heard so much better. slightly underwhelming.
repetitive beyond belief, but still a decent album.
i'm aboard an alien spaceship and i don't know how to feel. all i know is that i wasn't a huge fan of this album.
did it make me want to be a deadhead? no!
did it make me wish i were dead? slighhtly!
why the fuck is there so much flute? it feels like vocals are for one song and the instrumentals are for a completely different one.
good, but don't see myself coming back to it anytime soon.
