Reviews (page 3 of 16)
Just pure class
The most nailed on 5
great, one of my favourites
No comment required, consummate 5/5. Literal legendary album. You know the lore behind it, or if you don't, you can hear it seep through in every song. Or maybe that's just the cocaine. Either way, go read about the making of this album.
Hey I know that one (I can’t wait to taint the statistics)
One of the favorites
I’ve known this album since my parents played it on the 8 track in our used Duster. One of the best.
One of the greatest pop albums of all time, all the singles are immortal classics, and the deep cuts are also amazing. The personnel within Fleetwood Mac were some of the best songwriters of the modern era for sure.
Love it!
Tämä jäi väliin Mastersin takia ajallaan. Onneksi kuitenkin nyt kuuntelin ajan kanssa. Maineensa veroinen mestariteos, aivan huikea levy. Dreams ja Go your own way minulle tutuimmat hitit mutta huokea hetki myös The Chain. NOFX-cover Go your own waysta tutumpi mutta alkuperäinen roki on alkuperäinen. 5/5
It's such a shame that you HAVE to be in a horribly toxic relationship to make music this good.
Perfect album, zero notes
The number of classics on this album is astonishing, but Dreams stands out the most. I love Stevie Nicks, and she is truly what makes this band special to me. There isn’t a bad song on this album, and it’s always a pleasure to hear it.
it is now five in a row that i own. fantastic album. this is not a bad song on it. you have the hits: "dont stop", "go your own way" and "the chain", but other fantastic songs like "Dreams", "second hand news" and "gold dust woman". honestly, i can mention every song. definitely a five star in my book and probably it would be listed in the 21 albums to listen to before you die. some trivia: it was the #1 album in the U.S. for 31 weeks.
Top 5 favorite album for me. And I do think this is the best album of all time.
A true classic. The Chain is an awesome track
Too much already written about this one. Saw them live after this one came out. Great show and great album.
This was a pretty easy 5 stars for me. Just a brilliant album.
This is one of those "perfect" albums. Not because its techically perfect, but because its an easy access into the band, easily relatable, and the songs all ask to be repeated. It has a perfect opener and a perfect closer and the rest in between fills in any gap you might be wanting to be filled. The chemistry on this album was felt throughout. I might skip todays album to listen again. Biggest Hit - The Chain Biggest Miss (if I had to choose) - Oh Daddy Not So Hiddent Gem - You Make Loving Fun
Brilliant
4.5/5 https://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/fleetwood-mac/rumours/ Only bangers, including some of the finest pop rock songs ever written.
FINALLY. LETS GOOOO
4.5/5
one of the best ever. the chain is next level. dreams is soothing and beautiful. just amazing stuff here. goated band. 9/10
Rumours is another one of my all-time favorite albums with zero bad songs to be found
This is excellent and full of absolutely classic tracks. I went into it being pretty determined to not give it a 5 because it felt like following the crowd, but I can't deny that it's what it deserves
Fav- dreams 5/5
Awesome album; sound track of the late 70's & early 80's.
In the running for my favorite album ever.
Nothing to say Except Excellent Music By a VERY SPECIAL GROUP OF MUSICIANS Their music flows perfectly within our veins and throughout our Brains
It doesn't get much better than this
wow didn’t realize how many bangers i knew from fleetwood mac until i listened through this album
It's got some phenomenal songs, for sure. I don't think you can dismiss "Dreams," "Go Your Own Way," "The Chain," and "Gold Dust Woman." When I listen to this I think I should listen more often.
exquisito
Bon coup Fleetwood Mac.
Never going back again, c'est du grand Lindsay Buckingham.
Dreams, Go you Own Way, the Chain, juste des gros classiques.
4.5⭐️/5 04.02.2026
i had forgotten how incredible this album is and how many “hits” are on it.
What's there to say? It's the best album by, arguably, the most talented group ever.
It's a classic for a reason. Easy 5 stars. Not a single skip on here.
Repeat listen
I love them so much!! Every single song is so so good.
So many great songs on one album
I had to. The fact that Dreams and The Chain are on the same album is honestly enough. This got stuck in my head, I replayed it a bunch. Even the songs I didn't love the most still get stuck in my head. This was my first time hearing Gold Dust Woman and it's also awesome.
Hate to be cliche, but this really is an incredible album. Oh Daddy is the only lower point for me, but still a great song.
Fleetwood Mac isn’t necessarily my music of choice but you can’t deny how many hits there are on here and they are great songs. 4.5/5
This was too much soft pop for me back when it came out but I do appreciate it now. 4.5
*1977. *39 minutes of almost pure perfection. Have been looking forward to this one. *Totally stacked with hits - Dreams, Don't Stop, Go Your Own Way, The Chain, You Make Loving Fun, Gold Dust Woman. *Not a huge fan of Christine McVie's solo stuff (i.e. Songbird and Oh Daddy), with the obvious exception of You Make Loving Fun. *Lindsay Buckingham is easily my fave, e.g. Second Hand News, Never Going Back Again, The Chain. *Stevie Nicks only wrote 3 songs here (i.e. Dreams, I Don't Want to Know, and Gold Dust Woman), but obviously they're all great. RATING - 9.9/10
It was tempting at first to skip this album, as I've heard it lots in the past and (at time of writing) it sits at this website's #2 highest rated album; anything I could say about it has probably already been said. However, that would defeat the point of this project and, at album #79 for me, I have yet to punk out of listening to a single track in full. "Dreams" is really something else... Nicks' voice is just enchanting, layered on top of a steady bass and smooth guitar riffs. It's one of those tracks that just never misses a beat and never outstays it's welcome for even a second. The chorus scratches an itch deep in my brain. The plucky strings and outstanding vocals of Buckingham are all that's needed to make "Never going back again" great, the modulation of his voice punching in with the right guitar chord every time. As mentioned in previous reviews, my musical vocabulary is deeply lackluster, and so I am struggling to define exactly why each track shines, from "Don't Stop" to "Go your own Way" and "The Chain" and "You make loving fun". The first two mentioned above and great empowering lyrics, Go your own Way finishing with an epic guitar solo to finalise that feeling. The Chain with it's thumping drums and bass in time with the lyrical delivery of Buckingham and Nicks to give you something to unify and stamp your feet too. Then comes it's absolutely iconic bassline, incredible guitar solo to close it out. Albums like this get you emotionally invested in each track and it's lyrics without cheapening it's sound or flattening it's identity into something generic to reach as many people as possible; it just effortlessly draws you in and makes you feel something different from track to track. It's one of the few albums in the world I'd like to keep collected, in spirit of preserving some of the world's finest for the end times.
have forgone listening to this in full for years (and fully paying attention, too). i've had this in the background for an hours, good vibes, immersive, if a little too upbeat for my liking. but it's nice and of course I love the classic singles from this. song with lyrics about the father throws me off a bit. overall I don't think this is extremely my vibe but it is certainly a very well-constructed record :)
One of the best of all time. Legendary album.
No. 151 Honestly it’s hard to pick a favorite on this album.
This is a really remarkable album, it’s rare you can find something that has this many recognizable songs that weren’t singles. And even the ones that I didn’t recognize off rip were really interesting, there’s a lot of really comfortable melodies I really liked on here. A classic to be sure. Favorites: Dreams, Go Your Own Way, Gold Dust Woman
Already love that one. Every song is great
The first time I listened to Rumours many years ago, by the time I got 3 songs in I was wondering what all the fuss was all about. 2 decent album tracks and Dreams, which I think is over-rated and only propelled to it's megatrack status through Stevie Nicks' voice. But that's part of the appeal of Rumours for me, because just as your drifting into the middle of the road... Don't Stop... track! Go Your Own Way... absolute track! Songbird... beautiful track, and the one that suits Christine McVie's voice best. And then you've got the harmonies of The Chain, and That outro, and you're just totally absorbed. I can pass over the opinion that I don't think McVie's voice is suited to songs like You Make Lovin' Fun and Oh Daddy, because I know we'll be ending up with Stevie Nicks, the Gold Dust Woman, and everything is brilliant again. Half the album are absolute bangers. The rest are just good! And to think that The Chain and Gold Dust Woman were released as B sides!!! 5 stars.
I feel like putting a genuine review here would be redundant and unnecessary so I'm just going to state the obvious: one of the best albums of the 70s, one of the best of all time and the A-side might be one of the greatest continuous sides of music I've ever heard. Legendary.
Absolute classic album. There's not much else to be said
65 albums in (6%) and we finally have an album that is more in line with what I thought this experience wood be like. Recognizable, loved, and most songs are known or at the very least familiar. Also, extra points for half the band being female.
GOAT
Increible
An immortal classic. Great music, songwriting, it should be in everyone’s collection
HIGHLIGHTS: DREAMS, GO YOUR OWN WAY, THE CHAIN, Never going back again, Silver Springs (mesmo que não "oficial"), You Make Loving Fun 10/10
Pretty much perfect
With the slight exception of the lead track "Second Hand News", the first half of this album is hit after hit of uniquely crafted and impeccably mixed songs (at least on the Dolby Atmos version I listened to on Apple Music). I don't know what happened with Second Hand News, but there's a weird rhythm tone in there which I found distracting. But then the second half arrives with "The Chain" which is possibly the standout of the album, an exercise in melancholia, heartbreak and rueful anger, conjuring days lost to emptiness in the wake of a lover's betrayal. What a way to start my 1001!
periodt
Oh Daddy is really the only wrong step on this whole album. Easy five stars.
Masterpiece
I mean another perfect album. Two heavy hitters in a row. Is there a bad song here? Pappy LOVED Fleetwood Mac and I so get it! There are so many huge hit songs on this album too. This is great Liked Songs: The whole album
Day 23 — Fleetwood Mac — Rumours (1977) Listened: Mar 23–24, 2026 Genre: Soft Rock / Pop Rock / Classic Rock Vibe: Energetic pop rock with dramatic relationship vocals and lyrics that are raw and relatable, fueled by a strong rhythm section, melodic guitar riffs and solos Highlights: • Second Hand News • Dreams • Never Going Back Again • Don’t Stop • Go Your Own Way • The Chain • You Make Loving Fun • I Don’t Want to Know • Gold Dust Woman Impression: Loved the entire album except for a couple of songs. Grew up on this album as a kid because my mom loved Fleetwood Mac and I definitely inherited that love for Stevie Nicks and the band. Rating: 4.6/5 Keep songs? Yes Revisit album? Absolutely
Lives up to the hype - perfect.
One the greatest albums of all time!
i loove it
I had no idea that Fleetwood Mac made so many of my favorite songs as a kid. A masterpiece of an album
I love it
Easy 5 stars. Loved this album since the first time I heard it!
Eternal.
Mastery in its purest form.
This may be the first time I ever listened to this straight through and I really enjoyed it. The story behind the album of all the toxic relationships make the album even more interesting. So many classic songs all on one album!
4.75 - I didn't listen to this album for the first time until that guy went viral riding a skateboard and drinking cranberry juice set to Dreams. I could listen to Dreams on repeat for a week and not get sick of it. This album is like a damn greatest hits. I don't understand Mick Fleetwood's dangling balls on the cover here though.
When you know over half the lyrics by heart without realizing they were from one album you can't deny the juggernaut this album is
One of the best albums of all time. No bad tracks
Very few albums with a track list this good, of course it was going to be five stars
like several miniature Joni Mitchell’s Blues all aiming at one another—the rock soft, the drugs hard, the destruction mutually assured
One of my all time favorites. Between the propulsive guitar of "The Chain" or the "bow bow bow" chorus of "Second Hand News", this is an album to sing along to with the windows down.
We could have stopped making music in 1977 and been happy with our lot. This has enough hit power for a thousand bands. Simply front to back good ass music.
there is no option to give this a 7 but i would if i could
The album that inspired the creation of Formula One. Amazing album to take on my misty morning walk. Favourite track: The Chain
nothing needed to say highlights: Dreams, I Don't Want to Know
The top-rated album for good reason. I love it.
Just an incredible album - hot after hot and for good reason
This lives somewhere in my all-time top 100. It's aged well - a good listen end to end.
- Pretty iconic album - Not really any duds, maybe the only forgettable song is Songbird - The Chain
One of the goats. 5/5
Previously rated: #49 - Tusk (2/5) **************************** Album #1,074 As much as I disliked Tusk (what was it even doing on this list in the first place?), I have to admit Rumours is as close to a perfect pop rock album as you can get. A whopping seven of the eleven songs still get radio play to this day -- pretty incredible! The harmonies, the catchy melodies, everything just came together here. I understand why it's top 1 or 2 rated here. Favorite track: Probably the least played of the radio songs, Second Hand News, and that may just be that I've heard the others so much.
Do believe the hype. Some hipstery fans may argue that “Tusk” is better (in a less commercial / more “indie pop” sort of way), but sometimes the pop music masses are just right.
Nice
Easy to see why it’s rated where it is. Not a single bad song. Some massive hits. The Chain is probably my favorite track. Oh Daddy might be second.
For the second day in a row: Shocked that allll these songs arrived on this earth in one album. But for me the experience is like, 40% Stevie Nicks songs that I like, and 60% generic unclassified classic rock radio songs I didn't know were Fleetwood Mac. 4.5
oh, what, like I'm going to sit here and debate between a 4.5 and a 5 on a song that opens with Secondhand News and, if you pretend it was released as it should have been, ends with Silver Springs and you can go watch the live version from Warner Bros. studios where Stevie Nicks glares through Buckingham's soul
This is a top 10 album ever to me. It’s a diverse, layered album with so much history and so much talent. The first time I heard the guitar solo on the chain it was like I was seeing Jesus himself. Rumors means everything to me.
It is an astounding feat of art that an otherwise mediocre jam band could reinvent into one of the most incredible pop bands in history. It is an astounding feat of cultural impact that an album released nearly half a century ago adds one more platinum notch every year. That's the power of great songs. Even "Songbird" is the kind of song many writers wish they had the clarity and craft to write. And if you don't think these are great songs, you've probably never had a nasty breakup in your entire life and that says as much about you as your taste in music does.
топ
clean pop perfection. Idk what crack they were on in the studio but it worked. Oh right, it was crack
Awesome album. Every song is good, almost every song is great. Lots of hits in this album but the b sides are also excellent. Great album experience.
actual perfection
Immaculate. Pristine. Meticulous.
This is one of the best mainstream albums of all time.
will take any excuse to relisten to rumours. what an album!!! this version unfortunately does not have silver spring but still a 5. every song hits. and songbird is such an underrated song!!!
Goated, perfect album 🔥
The more you listen to it, the more it unfolds. A lovely work
I mean, it's super popular, probably overrated and probably underrated. Just gave it another listen and really, it's pretty perfect. Mick's drumming, Stevie's power, Lindsey's pop perfectionism, Christine's song craft. Great record.
Hard to find fault with this pick. Don’t like beautiful pop melodies? Seamless harmonies and the singular voices of Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie? Songs about love and betrayal? Then I guess you could find fault. But not me. There’s a reason they are arguably even bigger now than they were at the time.
Fette bra
5.0
i can’t decide if this album is a 5 for any reason other than being stacked with hits. is it perfectly coherent? unsure. is it banger after banger? absofuckinglutely
One of the best
Duh
The chain might be the best song ever made
One of the best Stevie Nicks vocal albums with a good backing band.
What is there to say. One of the best albums of all time - one of the most musically talented bands ever (Lindsay buckinghams guitar playing is bonkers!) at the height of their emotional power as they implode like a sun going supernova. My dad literally wore out his first copy of this album and now I have his we’ve d copy and it could face the same fate - death from love
A perfect album. Grew up with this in the house on vinyl and rediscovered it when I went to university. It plays like a greatest hits and the stories of how it was recorded and a whole other layer.
yesyeysesyesyesyesyesyes omgomgomgomgogmgo beautiful
This is great!
Wouldn’t say it’s one of my top favourite albums but it is kind of perfect. I don’t think you could change anything about any of the tracks without making them worse.
A friend of ours, Emmett, was DJ-ing at a mutual friend’s wedding a few years ago. The venue organiser was a bit over-the-top when it came to the finishing time, and tried to end the celebrations a little earlier than expected. When told to stop playing music, Emmett teed up one last song in a moment of defiance that got more and more out of control over the four-and-a-half minute runtime of the tune. Fleetwood Mac’s "The Chain" started playing, which definitely didn’t help get the dancefloor crowd on the side of the venue organiser. After several attempts to stop the song, including literally pulling the plug, we kept going. The guests united in rebellion, stomping their feet on the ground in time with the beat, fists held in the air in defiance. It's the kind of song that can unleash something like that in you. I was a late convert to Fleetwood Mac. Growing up listening to bands like Nirvana, Radiohead and Pixies, I initially found it hard to love songs like "Go Your Own Way" or “Don’t Stop”. But I've since grown (up) to appreciate everything about Fleetwood Mac, and “Rumours” in particular was what converted me. “Never Going Back Again” was the first song to help me in my conversion to the church of the Mac. Lindsey Buckingham's incredible otherworldly guitar playing still causes my eyes to widen every time I listen to this fantastic song. It sounds like three guitars playing at once, but nope, it’s just Lindsey and his acoustic guitar, pushing it to its absolute limits, while somehow making it seem easy. It’s not easy though. It’s hands-down one of the most difficult songs of all time to play on guitar. I came close to playing something that resembled it once, but then all of my fingers fell off. It's such a beautiful melody too, genuinely one of my all-time favorite songs. Even if there wasn’t another single Fleetwood Mac song that I liked, “Never Going Back Again” by itself is enough for me to love the band. And not to sound like a late-night TV infomercial, but wait, there’s more! I heard that the band wanted an album with “no filler”. All hits. Well, through all the crazy relationship issues that happened at the same time, they somehow managed to do it. “You Make Loving Fun” is one of many songs on this album that I’d forgotten just how good it is. That switch from the punchy verse to the sweeping vocal harmonies of the chorus is just fantastic. I could gush similarly about pretty much every other song on the album too. But I’ll spare you. Then there’s “The Chain”. Lindsey’s fragmented acoustic guitar sounds almost like something from a Western, punctuating Mick Fleetwood’s driving drum beat. Then those amazing vocal harmonies come in. I haven’t heard harmonies as perfect since the last Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young album I listened to. The chorus absolutely kicks off thanks to both McVies coming in, the organ adding texture while the bass line drives things on fully. The dropping in and out of instruments makes it work so well. It’s the only song on the album that every member is credited with writing together, and that’s what it feels like: a band coming together so perfectly, regardless of all the other stuff that was going on personally between them. And then it fades out. But wait, there’s more! McVie’s iconic bass line comes back in. There’s only a few songs in the history of music that can get you as excited as this moment. Fleetwood builds his drumming up, while Lindsey’s guitar plays a single note before launching into an incredible solo. It’s one of the best moments in modern music full-stop. Enough to have a full dancefloor of adults raising their fists in the air, stomping their feet in unison and rebelling against someone trying to take away their music.
Best of the best
great album! didnt realize how many hits were on one collection.
Best album produced by a polycule.
"Finally some good fucking -music-" Literally a perfect rock album 10/10 no notes.
For a while, every time "Dreams" came on, I asked myself if I really needed to hear this song again. I stopped asking that question because the answer was always "Yes," every. single. time. It might just be me, but I think Stevie Nicks is an underrated songwriter. We all love her as a singer and performer. She has an air of accessibility about her despite her genius and "witchy" persona. I'm reminded of the documentary film Sound City, made by Dave Grohl, about purchasing the legendary Neve 8028 recording console and moving it to his home studio. As part of the doc, he invited numerous artists who have recorded with the console to come and record with it again. A laundry list of absolute legends appear in the film. We're talking Paul McCartney and Trent Reznor level. But something was different when Stevie Nicks appeared in the studio. The entire vibe changed, and it became clear who the most revered person in that group was. There's just something about Bella Donna. Fun fact: the Bella Donna album was released on my fourth birthday. I write this tangent because there's little to say about this album that hasn't already been said. It's ubiquitous. It's overplayed but somehow never gets old. I have several copies of Rumours, including the fantastic 45rpm Pallas vinyl cut by Kevin Gray. I've heard the record many times, but every time I listen to it in a different format or on different equipment, I hear something new. This time around, it was the SACD rip on a new pair of IEMs that clearly revealed, among other details, the vibes Christine McVie played on "Dreams," the full texture of the rising background vocals on "Second Hand News," and the feel of the empty room "Songbird" was recorded in. I don't blame music fans who are sick of this album showing up everywhere and middle-aged men like me raving about it incessantly. Honestly, something in my aging Gen-X brain grates against it and tries to reject it for its popularity, but every time I come back to Rumours, I have to admit it's one of the best-written, arranged, produced, and recorded albums in the medium's history. Five stars.
Löytyy LP hyllystä, yks ikisuosikeista. Oh Daddy ja The Chain on vaan kovia!
On nimittäin miellyttävää, kuuntelin töissä kolmesti albumin läpi.
One of my favorite albums ever. One of the first purchased on vinyl when finally buying a record player a year ago.
Perfect. Iconic. No notes. A longtime favorite.
One of the best albums start to finish. Strong continuity and great folk rock sound!
Not too cool to say this album rules. Been reading Warren Zanes' bio of Tom Petty which is fantastic and very interesting to learn Stevie Nicks really wanted to leave Fleetwood Mac to join Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers because of her frustration at having only a few songs on albums that came out only every few years. She sort of compromised with them on her first solo album.
Hit, after hit, after hit! I'm sure I've heard this entire record before in bits and pieces but never listened front to back. Excellent!
ok
Wasn't a surprise to see this appear on the list. Probably one of the most famous albums ever? And yet, I'd never actually listened to it all the way through until now. It's solid, and has so many recognisable songs it. It's kinda hard not to enjoy this. Go Your Own Way might be one of my favourite songs of all time
Was this already on the list?
Banger after banger. After two meh albums it is good to have this come along.
I'm not a Fleetwood Mac fan and I know this is the top rated album on this site, so I was ready to give it anything but a 5, but dammit, it's really good. This probably has 7 songs that would go straight on a greatest hits album and some of those were the biggest songs from the late 1970s. That this album got made at all is truly a monumental achievement. While they recorded it they were consuming insane amounts of drugs AND they were so mad at each other they were barely on speaking terms. Bonus points for the cover balls. I still think Abbey Road is better, but this is a pretty amazing album.
Flawless album from start to finish. 39 minutes of pure goosebumps.
Greatest of all time
Hit after hit after hit. Just an incredible album.
i tend to be against about albums having short songs. that tend to make them filled with a bunch of barely completed ideas. But this one is an example of how you do it. All killer, no filler. Even when i came cautious, after seeing this is the most well regarded album here, this album surprised me. Even when i loved before The Chain, i found other very enjoyable and good songs. It's so intense, it's so emotional, in a sense that comes honest, and really powerful. And all that its in 40 minutes. That's impressive
Amazing album from Fleetwood Mac, every track sounds incredible
Iconic. Not a bad track on it.
Class in an album
This has always been a favourite of Maggie's, indeed she owns a vinyl copy. So, this is a joint vote. There's some great songs, timeless classics. Songbird alone merits 5 stars.
Listen and learn 1001. I feel guilty that this can only get 5 stars. Packed with beautiful vocals and ageless tunes.
Never understand how these guys could function, let alone be so creative, against the backdrop of this album. Possibly as close as pop gets to perfection, and Songbird might even be better than that. Easily earns its status in the pantheon of all time greats. A full gas 5*
Great listen. Fun and skilled. Amazing that they had 3 excellent vocalists for sp many years before pursuing solo careers
Like listening to a greatest hits album, one fantastic song after another. So good that the gorgeous "Silver Springs," didn't even make the original album. Truly the best breakup album of all time and proof that heartbreak makes for great art. The only song that could have been left off is "O Daddy" but even that has its merits. This album was another one that was constantly played in my house when I was growing up and it has only gotten better over time.
Absolutely stacked pop album, a creative endeavor that somehow found the band firing on all cylinders at the same time that they were coming apart at the seams. I kinda like when Fleetwood Mac get a little weird even more, like on Tusk, but this is undeniably a masterpiece. Fave tracks - Never Going Back Again, Dreams, The Chain, You Make Loving Fun. All bangers tho
One of the best ever. Generational talents and bangers. Extremely high hit rate and just some damn good songs. If you throw in 'Silver Springs' it's about as good as you can get.
Although this is a without a doubt a great album, this current lineup was not my favorite. I became a fan of Fleetwood Mac in 1971 when I heard "Future Games" when I was a junior in high school. This led me look back and learn about the original line-up with Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer. So for me, my favorite Fleetwood Mac albums are "Future Games, Bare Trees", and "Mystery to Me." And I think it's a shame that Bob Welsh was included when the group was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Perfect album.
This album has "The Chain", which should be achievement enough.
Dreams Go your own way the Chain You make loving fun Gold Dust Woman Silver Springs
How's this for a slice of fried gold?
I think this album clicked for me in the third listen. I get why Rumours is so popular for Gen Z. Hearing the lore behind this album makes me appreciate the emotions of love, heartbreak, and everything in between. The harmonies really add to it. Personally, it's just catchy pop rock. That's pretty much 5 stars in my books (4.5-5). P.S. Why did they remove Silver Springs???
What can I say? It's Rumours by Fleetwood Mac. Great songs, the best album - production-wise speaking - since Abbey Road. Rightfully labeled a timeless classic.
Album- Rumours (1977) Favorite song from album- Dreams, or Gold Dust Woman Album Rating- 9/10 3 Songs added to playlist Listened to while playing Terraria. I related to Dreams in the worst way possible. Best breakup album I can think of.
Banger på banger! Är det världens bästa album genom tiderna? Nä. Men är det ändå en given femma? Japp. Solot i Go Your Own Way kommer jag aldrig tröttna på.
easy 5. One of the best albums. I only started listening to Fleetwood Mac maybe 15 years ago, and this is one of those albums that makes you remember where you were when you first listened to it. Immense talent and songwriting here, cant praise it enough.
I mean… it’s Rumours aka one of the greatest albums ever recorded. What else is there to say about it other than make sure to listen to the deluxe edition just so you can hear Silver Springs (and then stop there so you don’t listen to 3 more hours of demos and live versions). But god damn Silver Springs is powerful as fuck. Just a perfect capper to the album and it’s a damn shame it’s not on the original release
An album I listened to for the first time a few years ago after hearing how great it was and seeing it on countless lists. My reaction after hearing it all the way through was "Oh, I get it now!" This album lives up to all the hype people have given it. A classic in the truest sense, stacked front to back with nothing but bangers. Another easy 5/5.
What?! I seriously haven’t had Rumours (this is day 1070/1089 btw), this is obviously one of the greatest albums of all time. It’s the pinnacle of album sequencing, and is the obvious blueprint for many albums across a range of genres in that regard. I think the cassette sequencing is strange though, just swapping ‘second hand news’ and ‘I don’t want to know’ fucks up this album massively. But we’re reviewing the true version of the album. It’s wonderful also oh daddy is good, and not even an ‘it would be the best song if the other songs were shit’ type album, no it’s good for this album 5/5
I went into this album knowing that it's the highest rated album on the list. My goal was to find any excuse to give it a low rating. Welp, mission failed. I like Fleetwood Mac. I always have. But the pedestal that they're put on just rubs me the wrong way. I think it has much to do with the drama of the band, and Stevie Nicks' aura (I have admit she DOES have aura). To me, this album is like the Giants' 2007 Super Bowl run. Above average (but not amazing) team (band) finds lightning in a bottle and creates one of the greatest postseasons (albums) in history. At some point you have to stop hating and just appreciate greatness.
One of the best albums I have listen to so far
Sounds a lot like their previous work. Definitely an essential Fleetwood Mac album. Probably my favorite!
This album is GOATed. From start to finish. There are no skips. This is one of the greatest albums of all time. Period. I wish I could for it more stars
Rumours begs the question: with unlimited access to cocaine, adulterous sex, and the greatest sound engineers and equipment available, who among us would not be able to produce one of the greatest albums of all time on our eleventh try?
Winners win. Nothing but banger after banger on this album.
Alles is zo smaakvol gedaan.
The famous “breakup” album, though they stayed together for a while after this lol. The definition of a wok - life balance. I came to realize The Chain is the main hit on here but I was introduced to Go Your Own Way long before I heard the former. The latter gets obnoxious after a while. Dreams was the breath of life for TikTok. My favorite song on this album might be Gold Dust Woman. This album is very good from beginning to start. I don’t know if there’s a true “filler” song in it. The whole “tragedy breeds art” applies.
Top to bottom great album. So many different voices and moods. Always loved the songs but hadn't listened to it all the way through as an album. love!
One of the best albums ever. 5.
Personal enjoyment: 5/5 Relevance to this list: 5/5
One of the top greatest albums of all time!
Absolute S tear album. Fell in love with it three years ago in summer and every relisten is even better that the last one. This would be 5* for me even if only for You can go your own way. This song is flow state, summer fields with your friends and it's so beautiful my words aren't enough. And of course The Chain. Ultimate masterpiece. First bass line I've ever learned. Oh... Please. Gold dust woman. This song was written by the witch for witches. Just perfection. Don't stop and Oh daddy are my biggest standouts of the rest of this album. This album is making my life better every day I rememeber it exists.
Perfect timing, an album about cheating and breakups on Valentine's Day. I was gonna listen to this album today anyways for the hell of it, so good to know my sense of humor is random enough to agree with a random number generator. Anyways, as much as I hate cheaters (and especially artists singing about their cheating), the writing process of this album was so damn funny I can excuse it. "We all hate each other right now, so let's just write songs about how much we cheat and make the cheaters sing them." Peak revenge. I couldn't imagine how many other bands thought of that but broke up before they could do anything with it. The worst part is that this whole album is amazing. They really put all of their anger into their songwriting and it worked. There's a rawness to a lot of this album that you just don't hear in most other pop music, and a lot of that comes from the idea that everyone in the band is singing about each other, not some random unnamed ex with no defining traits outside of what whoever says they did. With all that, Songbird and Oh Daddy really stand out to me. All of these "I hate you, you cheated on me and screwed me over" and then there are two songs that say "I love you" and "it's my fault." Crazy stuff.
Big ole 5.
Notes? Nowhere to be found. The ability to create an album like this should be studied.
A perfect album from beginning to end, especially when you know the backstory and how all of that mess was channeled into some incredible songs.
I loved this exactly as much as I thought I would (I already loved it, this was just a re-listen). There’s a reason this is the top dog on the 1001; it’s on the short list for greatest classic rock album ever, and at the same time it’s also an incredible pop rock album. This is an all-bangers, no-skips affair, and if you can’t find something to like on this album you’re either being a contrarian dick or you’re just generally hopeless. It’s got ‘The Chain’ on it for god’s sake! Anyway, this is my 13th 5/5, probably the easiest one I’ve given out so far. This album rules
as easy of a 5 as one can possibly hope for
Classic
i love Fleetwood Mac. such an iconic album
10/10 I’m blown away. I gotta say. All of them are my favorite. The chain is my aggression song now
I've listened to this album many times. I'm a huge fan of Rumours!
Perhaps the height of pop. Beautifully written and composed, and flawless front to back.
One of the most stacked albums ever, just beautiful front to back
This album is so good. It really merges a lot of styles too, which is very impressive. Songbird is different from Don’t Stop is different from Never Going Back Again. Absolute classic for a reason.
Nothing I can add that hasn't been said before. It's just 11 great songs performed, recorded and mixed fantastically.
Wauw!!
Genuinely elite. This album could be cut in half and still be elite. So many great songs on one album and the ones in between are very very solid.
Great!
So many amazing songs, but yet such a short album. Definitely one of the top all-time bang for your buck albums.
I love Fleetwood Mac
Such a great album. But the deluxe version is needed for Silver Springs.
Always been one of my favourites, couldn't ever give this anything less than 5 stars
The best
Amazing. One of my favorite albums
If Aja by Steely Dan is not as equally high rated this whole system is rigged
LOVE THIS ALBUM
Could an album like this happen in 2026 without the members splitting soon afterwards? I don't think so.
I kinda think there's some songs on this that don't fit the vibe, but it's still a 5.
Tror vi har funnet vår felles førsteplass her.
Always sounds new and amazing
Ai vitsi ku o hyvä. En muistanukkaan kuinka monta hyvää biisiä
Do I need to say anything?
I enjoyed it! A lot of iconic hits on one album and still sounds fresh after a few decades.
fire album, its actually so perfect and in my opinion one of the greatest albums made, if its not ranked one out of the 1001 albums then idk what else is on here. i did listen to the deluxe bc silver springs is amazing
Just banger after banger from start to finish. We love the drama too
Such a classic album, with one hit after another. Great to revisit.
Her snakker vi album!
Bunnsolid plate
Helt konge plate, spesielt Buckinghams bidrag.
Simply brilliant. Hits all the way through with some all time greats included
It’s amazing how many generational hits there are on this. Been a while since I’ve listened and this holds up for songwriting, production and is a serious blueprint for how to make a greatest of all time album. Can’t get enough it
Cocaine + Infidelity = Magic, apparently
Some all time bangers on this one. Go your own way is one or my fave songs
You could put The Chain on an Eminem album and it'd become a 5-Star review, and Eminem SUCKS.
this is a classic for a reason.
10/10 no notes album
ez 5/5
Cracking album I have heard multiple times
1er álbum y resulta que ya le tenía!!!! Me encanta Rumours, shoutout a Gold Dust Woman y You Can Go Your Own Way.
Al ooit geluisterd Love de vibe! Lowkey wel een 9/10
almost perfect except for two Buckingham tunes
Beautiful playing, singing, writing, and mixing. Peak music from a peak era
10/10 An absolute masterpiece in every sense of the word. Easily a top 10 album of all time for me & honestly, it might even make my top 5. I don’t know what else can be said that hasn’t already been praised to death; it’s just that good. Every song feels essential and the emotional tension is unreal. If someone told me this was their favorite album of all time, I wouldn’t question it for a second. And as far as breakup albums go? Nothing even comes close. Favorite song: Dreams Least favorite: Songbird
YESSSSS ANOTHER NO SKIP ALBUM, ONE OF THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME
Iconic.
An all-time classic for lots of reasons. Pretty much every song here is instantly memorable. Wonderfully crafted and beautifully performed songs keep rolling one after another, with each track seeming to top the last one you heard. This is what happens when tremendously talented people all get together and catch fire at the same time, each person challenging and building on what the others are bringing.
A masterpiece
Masterpiece
Another no skips. Also break the chain<3
It's unfair to have so many moments of pure joy on one piece of vinyl. I may skip Oh Daddy at times but you can't just bust out Second Hand News, I Don't Wanna Know, Never Going Back Again, You Make Loving Fun and The Chain and not be a pretty obvious five-star album. Don’t take it for granted. Make time. Sit with it. Listen to the bass guitar and the little studio touches. It’s the art of meticulously crafting beautiful songs to make them sound impossibly simple. I will say this, whoever had the idea to fade out Second Hand News right as the guitar solo gets interesting is a musical terrorist.
Sure, people can say it’s overrated. I don’t care, it’s a masterpiece. I’ve listened to it countless times. It shaped my music taste, it evokes memories of listening with my dad as a kid. The Chain brings back watching F1 with him at the weekend. Never Going Back Again is one of the greatest guitar riffs of all time. Gold Dust Woman is an exceptional album closer. Just imagine if Silver Springs had made the cut ahead of Oh Daddy…
I mean...pretty much perfect.
Overplayed, but a solid album
One of the all timers.
amazing
I don’t know them too well but recognize more than I thought. What a masterpiece of hits. Wow. Easy 5 star.
peak
FINALLY A WOMAN I already know this album front to back
One of the best music albuns ever. Incredible…
5 stars to the most normie goat album of all time.
Highlights: Dreams, The Chain
A great album, without too many surprises.
It's not my personal pick for greatest album of all time, but it's totally fitting for the top album on this list. Rumours basically unites everyone: the indie nerds, the top 40 listeners, even the people who don't really care for music. We all hear "Dreams" and we all think "this is one of the greatest things I've ever heard", and as long as people still listen to music, we're all going to keep thinking that.
Awesome and underrated as heck!!! Many will argue if Silver Springs is an official song of this album or not, I say no!! Check out the Hole cover of Gold Dust Woman from The Crow: City of Angels soundtrack!!!
Nothing short of extraordinary.
Perfect
There's a reason why this album has the highest global rating. It's because it's an outstanding album from top to bottom.
An album that makes all other 5 rated albums seem to be over rated. This is the very definition of what a 5 star album should be. Great lyrics, amazing musicianship. Plenty of hits and the ones that aren't hits should have been.
I got a little excited seeing this come up as the album of the day. Many days on this journey are a struggle to get through, so it was nice to know there would be no struggle today. Although if I'm being honest, I don't like the leadoff track. After the original album ran through, I spun up the live album "The Dance" where they started off with "The Chain" which was a much better choice as that's a fucking banger. Also, today I learned that the album cover has a pair of dangly balls. Maybe I knew that 5 or 10 or 20 years ago and forgot, but still--how could such an iconic album cover have a pair of balls staring me in the face that I was oblivious to? They aren't exactly hiding against that background. Brains are weird. Anyway, this album is not perfect, but the highs are really high. This is the 619th album I've rated on here and only the 29th 5-star. I get why it's one of the highest rated albums on here; not everyone fucks with Metallica, but most people who like music enough to go through this list are gonna like "Rumours." 4.8
I didnt even think I liked Fleetwood mac. This was impossible to resist though.
banger after banger! re discovered faves found new jams
A classic! This one album has had such an enormous impact on rock and roll in the ‘70s and beyond, it’s hard to remember a time when Fleetwood Mac wasn’t on top. This is one album I wish I could listen to for the first time again.
classic
in the top 10 greatest albums of all time
I've ignored this album my whole life. I heard plenty of Fleetwood Mac tracks on classic rock growing up. Nothing resonated with me specifically. I clumped them in the soft rock bin alongside the Eagles. Boy, this album is killer. And song flows into the next. The production is fantastic. The tunes are catchy. And you can hear all that fire and angst underneath it all.
didnt remember this poppy delight.
FANTASTIC! From front to back this album is indeed a must have classic.
There is not a bad song on this album. If you have a album collection this needs to be in it!
Always on repeat. Great, classic songs.
Je me suis dit, je vais me gâter écouter un petit album usité qui demande pas trop d'efforts, un bon vieux petit Rumours. Puis là je me suis dit tiens. Retourner voir le vidéo youtube Behind the Recording of Rumours of Fleetwood Mac.
Rumours is a breakup turned into a masterpiece, every track a postcard from the edge of collapse. It’s the rare album where the drama isn’t a distraction — it’s the fuel that makes the melodies burn brighter. It is one of my top 10 albums of all time to listen to.
Perfect album except oh daddy
A masterpiece. What else is there to say?
Turns out adversity really does help make great music. Bangers all the way down.
Masterpiece
Amazing
Album Review 048 Rumours by Fleetwood Mac (1977) Rating 5/5 AKA: Cocaine and Adultery - The Musical. Few bands would be able to survive the blizzard of drugs and the intra-band affairs that was Fleetwood Mac between 1976-77, let alone use it as the environment and inspiration to create one of the best albums ever made. There’s very little to say about Rumours that hasn’t already been said. Every song is at least very good, most are great and the run of tracks 5-8 (Go your own way - Songbird - The chain - You make loving fun) is exceptional.
One of the Top 10!
Best album created
Joya.
Heartbreak never sounded better
Always a classic! Everything is good, and many of the songs are great! Best paired with a chill weekend afternoon, only the best of vibes
