Ugh. I'm almost the exact same age as Britney. I remember being icked by her treatment by the media, and how she was presented as a teen. I can't get over that when listening. I guess this is a great example of 90s pop, but most of the songs remind me of the end credits of bad romance movies. I actually said "wtf" at Soda Pop, and cracked up at "Email My Heart" Why is this my longest review?
Meh. Welcome to the jungle is obviously a banger. It's so easy is bad. I feel like there are four good songs on this album. The rest get by on Axel's unique voice.
I guess if I ever need to study again this is good music for it. The first 3/4ths, the last bit got annoying.
It's like King Crimson was forced to play a very fancy wedding.
I might listen again if I feel like being sad for no reason
So weird Circus? Piano bar? Spoken word hipster night at the library? Cough a lung up for me, Tom.
I won't listen to it again, but I see why it's here. Not my music for the most part, but I did save Roses to my everyday playlist.
I don't care for the general theme of a few songs, but it's a solid album.
Would have loved to listen to this on vinyl while a stoned teenager
God this album is boring. It's so boring I didn't notice when it ended.
I didn't hate this, but I was confused when I read the genres. It's definitely not punk. I don't know what it is.
Good but I can't see myself listening to a lot of this. Can really tell it's about a breakup
I wish I knew more about funk so I could tell if this was groundbreaking or how different it was from the norm. It totally tells a story, I enjoyed it.

This would almost be a 4 but there was too much country influence. I do realize I just said I like old country, but not in Rolling Stone form.
The originals deserve to be here. The covers, meh. This album is mostly covers. The song "Strychnine" is an obvious early punk influence.
I really liked this album. I don't think I've ever heard or the band before. It's like soft-psychedelica. Casual psych? I don't know. The lyrics in a few songs were a bit weird and the rhymes pretty simple, but I like weird, and the music was good so whatever.
Just the other day I told my project buddy that I'd rather kiss Steve Harvey on the mouth than listen to Kate Bush. The universe was listening, so I got this album. Musically and lyrically, she's great. Her voice, however, is like watching interpretive dancers being strangled. I will admit, I take back what I said about Steve. But that's not because I changed my mind about Kate Bush, ! just really hate Steve Harvey.
My friend says I'm stingy, so I'm rounding up this time. The Murder Mystery is too weird, but I liked it more on my second listen.
I liked this. It was layered without being messy, good lyrics, occasionally good messages. I was surprised from a dude calling himself Q-Tip
I might need to add this to my list of favorite bands. I have no idea why I never came across them before.
In the immortal words of Marcus Brody, "I'd rather spit in your face."
I still don't know if I can say I like jazz. I'll start to like a song, then they play the same 4 notes 18 times in a row. Oh well.
Doodoodoodoodoo DOOT doo doodoodoodoo
The bad outweighs the good here. I wish I could edit the songs, cause there's some good stuff. But Jesus. Stop saying the same things, you idiot. And quit with the screeching noises.
I get that the VU is very influential, and I like a ton of stuff that smarter listeners say were influenced by them, but calling this album good is like calling a bucket of cum a doctor.
Oh Leonard. You were better than this. This album is SO disjointed. Waltzes, and synth and crazy high background singers... I'm gonna start making people listen to Jazz Police when the say they like Leonard Cohen but can only name one song. (And you know what song I mean)
Sometimes familiar, sometimes unique, sometimes a bit cheesy. An all around fun album.
It's like Bond-esque funk, met a spaghetti western in India and decided to stay.
I hate to say this, but other than Sweet Dreams the song, this album was not good. A few of the songs were alright, most were just too weird for me.
I'm not super familiar with Joni Mitchell and I thought this album would be full of slow sad stuff. It was pretty upbeat and enjoyable.
My grandma always had the radio in her bedroom playing super low, just barely perceptible. This brought me back to looking through grandma's jewelry box and napping on her big bed. I put the album on as I fell asleep and slept better than I have in weeks. Obviously, this has nothing to do with how good the album is. Deal with it.
The Beach Boys are consummate boomers, singing about a mean guy who hurt their little sister in one song, then singing about hurting their girlfriend to make themselves feel better in another. Good times. I know I'm not a fan because of overexposure.
Full disclosure, Yes is my favorite band. I have a tattoo to prove it. I get why people don't like prog. It's long, it's weird, it's pretentious. But Fragile is a great argument against all that. It's fun, it's catchy, it's a little deep. And there is a song for each member to show off their instrumental chops. And, in case you didn't know, every single member on this album is an actual rock god. Even Jon Anderson, the little weirdo.
I'm not a big fan of Electronica, but this wasn't terrible. It wasn't great either. Kind of boring, but still pleasant enough. Good background music. The lyrics were pretty whiny "why don't you love me" stuff.
There might not be any diamonds in the mine, but I got a few stars for ya.
Not as great as Tago Mago. It was more ambient, less vocals. Still enjoyed it. Love that I discovered CAN.
Alright. Everyone already knows Elvis, so it's impossible to write a first impression review. I grew up listening to the oldies station at home, so by age 13 I already hated him purely from overexposure. I get Elvis. I get that he brought a new and exciting genre to the white folks. I probably would have been just as nuts for him as most teens in the 50s. But I'm a 40 something in the 20s now, and it's a no from me. I just don't like his voice. I hate the typical Elvis uh-huh thing, and I hate when he's not doing it too. It's seriously lackluster and sometimes just whiney. So thanks for all you did, Elvis, but we've got it from here.
I enjoyed this, but not enough for them to be my new favorite band.
This was... okay? Pretty forgettable. Kind of trying to be Tom Petty. Generic indie.
I liked this much more than The Queen is Dead. Depressing lyrics disguised by upbeat music is my jam.
You don't have to love metal to know that this is a perfect album.
Just all over the place. Country pop, orchestra, 60s psychedelic, in a supposed rock concept album about a ship? Yeah okay. A weird ass album.
Sorry, Kimberly. Noel might be a cunt, but this is a damn good album.
I listened to some of this album then forgot to listen to the rest. It's my birthday though, so I can do what I want. Most of the songs sounded too similar, except for Sickman, which I honestly thought was White Zombie, so that was weird. Actually, that was as far as I got. My friends got me drunk on my birthday, and I just want to see what my next album is.
It's interesting, in the way that if Phish were born and raised in Argentina would be interesting.
Adele is one of the only truly unique talents to come out of the last 20 years and I'll fight you about it.
Super boring for the first hard-core rap album but rap isn't my thing anyway.
There's a man, screaming at you in French. You offer him a lozenge. He accepts, then hops on his carousel and rides off, cackling with the calliope. You shrug, and decide to try a trip through the fun house you suddenly notice. The man is there. The lozenge didn't help. Shit's about to get weird. And that's just the first song.
I was surprised at how much I liked this. Courtney Love doesn't the greatest voice, but with this genre it doesn't matter.
Definitely weird, but totally enjoyable. Sort of reminded me of the soundtrack for a dystopian action film, which might be what they were actually going for.
Uuuh, Mother was pretty jarring. The rest was the Police. I like the Police.
Music for people who regret their Nightmare Before Christmas tattoo.
Chaotic ska punk? It was alright
At first I was wondering how they went from what seemed to be a more enjoyable and coherent album to the cum bucket that is White Light/White Heat, but then I hit the halfway point. Andy Warhol just found a bunch of stoned beat poets and threw some guitars and trash can lids at them and said play, didn't he?
Listened twice in a day. Really liked them.
I wish I was the type of floaty cottagecore girl who likes Fiona Apple, but I'm just not. There were a couple of good songs, but most of the album was just too random for me.
If you rhyme violent, misogynistic abs homopobic bullshit, I guess that's art. Sorry bout your childhood, Slim. Get therapy. Oh, but at least this album introduced more people to Dido.
Not my style but not horrible
