If this album isn't the greatest music, well check out the album art... Har! Some of my favourite Beatles songs on this one, love it.

Thought I liked Bowie. Oh yeah, I do, but not this album. Falls into that category of over-produced 70s popular music, that I truly do not enjoy. Not really even any highlights in it for me. Bowie is a bit of a chameleon. He released the album Earthling in 1997, which I bought and really liked of course, but it had a real 90s sound.
Noooo! Synthpop... This was the most painful listen so far. Ja ja ja, mach schnell mit der art things, huh? I must get back to Dancecentrum in Struttgart in time to see Kraftwerk.

Nice...
Well now I've listened to a Coldplay album. It was as I expected from what people have said. It's nice enough. I see why people like it. There's just nothing to grab on though, so I'll leave that behind...
Liked it. I never paid much attention to Hip Hop in the 90s, now I'm liking it and this had it's catchy moments.

I like! It reminds me of Cocteau Twins from the 80s. Fits right in with some stuff I listen to when I'm feeling mellow....
Love it... first 5 star album. Always loved "There She Goes", hadn't heard the rest, and am glad that I did!
Despite liking the Pumpkins, despite my roommate playing this album a lot when it first came out, I never really liked it that much. Another listen didn't change my mind. I don't have the attention span for it. What a great single album it would have made, instead it's a double filled with many boring and uninteresting songs. The hits are great, I love Bullet with Butterfly Wings and 1979, but it's not worth a 2 hour listen. I'd rather listen to Siamese Dream.
One of my favourites. Timeless! A double album with little filler.
This was neat, never heard this before. Good stuff. Great songs. Especially liked "A House is Not a Motel".
Bland 80s. I liked Paul Weller in the Jam, but this is the worst kind of boring. The Jam was rollicking and fun, but this I do not like.
Now that takes me back. Fun.
Loved it! Great album.
So great... a favourite, knew the songs, but had never listened to the album together before.
Little less than OK. No draw for me.
Yes, good, but not my thing.
If this album isn't the greatest music, well check out the album art... Har! Some of my favourite Beatles songs on this one, love it.
OK, but not great. I didn't realize the Bee Gees were like this before disco. Kind of like a cross between the Beatles and the Beach Boys.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah! I'd already been listening to some Karen O. recently. This is great. A lot rawer, but I like my music raw.
Good. It was new to me and I enjoyed it!
Didn't like it as much as "Are you Experienced?". This is a little more bluesy less rock. I probably wouldn't have even given it a 3 if it wasn't for the brilliance of his version of All Along the Watchtower
New band for my favourites. Like it a lot. Reminds me of Ryan Adam's 1979.
Appreciate the rock elements of Run-DMC. Seems so sparse and uncomplicated compared to some modern hip-hop.
Epic. A classic. There are the obviously hooky bits, like Teen Age Riot, and there are grating that parts begin to sound perfect too with repeated listens. One of my favourite albums ever.
Noooo! Synthpop... This was the most painful listen so far. Ja ja ja, mach schnell mit der art things, huh? I must get back to Dancecentrum in Struttgart in time to see Kraftwerk.
Nothing says Merry Christmas like an album from a convicted murderer! Well, he was good at what he did! It's a great sounding album.
I love how stripped down the Stooges sound. It's like they looked at rock'n'roll, and said I don't need this, I don't need that, alright good enough!
During 1st song, I thought this was going to be awesome, but really the rest of it didn't grab me at all. Well constructed music, but a bit boring.
Wow... such a mix of genres. I liked Come Alive and Mushrooms & Roses a lot. It's a neat album well executed. Some of the songs didn't really resonate, with me. I also listenened to Suite I and liked it, but it's mostly more of an R&B sound.
I sometimes think I never gave music like this a fair shake in the 80s, because it was popular music and my tastes were different, but, really, this music has nothing for me, I really do not like.
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah = No, No, No. Why can't I take dance music serious? I pictured SNL skits, all the way through this listen, with even more vapid lyrics.
Who decided to record this with the singer at the bottom of a deep, deep well. Some times echo is arty! Not for me...
I own this CD. It's a longtime favourite! Great modern interpretation of Woody Guthry songs.
1001 Albums likes the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and so do I! This music is my jam!
This is good, the songs are great, but check out Camper Van Beethoven's recording of Tusk. I strongly prefer the CVB version...
I bought this album back when it came out and it was very disappointing. There are way better Nick Cave albums. The stories here get in the way of the music. Good stories don't necessarily make good songs. Some of the stories are just gratuitous violence without a point. Sure "Where the Wild Roses Grow" and the cover of "Death is Not the End" are fantastic, but, otherwise, it's hard to listen to this.
I've been into this band for a while, but never heard this album. It's great but not as incredible as The Unraveling (2020). I expect if this list is updated, this album would be on it. The same great songwriting and musicianship, and more justified indignant rage/passion that still manages to look to the future. The Unraveling would get 5 stars!
A compilation should not count as a proper album.
How is this a great album? More like a mediocre box set. An album (LP) is no more than 50 min. Yes, there are double albums, but this is more than that. Not just that though, it's inconsistent. Maybe you could make a good album out of this if you whittled it down. I do like the Magnetic Fields, but calling this a great album is wrong. This is like a B-side compilation, if you are a fan you like it as a way to better know the band, but even you don't call it a great album!
