Reviews (page 12 of 15)

funk is not really my thing. this was ok background music on a Monday

Not my thing but pleasant enough

An aggressively funky album, to the point where I got listening fatigue towards the end. I’m too weak for the funk I guess.

My funk tanks are overflowing.

-wow it’s so… funky… -I was unfamiliar with Parliament’s non-Funkadelic work, but I think I like it. It’s an insane fuckin vibe and accomplishes its goal of making me feel like I’m riding on a spaceship in the 70s. Maybe a little bit same at parts but what more could I ask for -Favorites are Unfunky UFO, Handcuffs, and Give Up The Funk

very funky not my personal favorite genre of music something to listen to in the background

Listening to Parliament brings up fond memories of my ‘20s. I had the chance to see the P-Funk All-Stars at the Fillmore and it was an insane show in which after the management cut the lights and electric the band kept going until security physically pushed George Clinton off the stage. I still have a love of funk but I have to admit that I am a different person and place. This album is a classic, taking the funk genre started by the JB’s and moving forward (rumor is fueled on a lot of cocaine). Night of the Thumpasorus and Handcuffs were my key tracks, especially Bootsy Collins wahwah bass. Always a pleasurable flashback.

I’m sure I’d enjoy this if I were in the mood, but unfortunately the mood didn’t strike

I bet this was INCREDIBLE to experience live. As it is, glad I heard it, but didn't change my life either.

though the funk is funky, it's too much funk for me

I do, in fact, want the funk. But not always. It's fun music, but I don't crave it very often. 3.5*, maybe 4 if I'm feeling particularly funky.

It was....Funky...and a good listen, but I cant see myself searching it out again

Good funk

Not for me.

Dig the funk

Good album, ain’t going out of my way to listen to it.

“We want the funk”

Funk album

Without this album the world wouldn't have a ton of hip hop. Tracks I enjoyed: "Give up the Funk (Tear the Roof Off the Sucker)" and "Night of the Thumpasorus Peoples".

A hit or two

Lowkey fire, could have crazy samples for sure, funky, songs are to long. I wouldn't just turn it on

Solid album.

funky but not funkadelic

Great party listen.

I know my dad loves this album. Never really got into funk but I actually recognized one of these songs from Always Sunny of All Places. It was alright but I don't see myself revisiting this any time soon. 6/10

This was ok, but the last song just sounded farts

Nice funky vibes, but not really that interesting to listen to.

good background, funk music

I like funk and this was good but it didn’t hit me in the soul like I want from funk. Well produced but felt a little heartless which was sad for me

Lot of cool riffs, thick bouncy bass and more funk than you can handle. Songs often drag for too long than they probably needed to. Funk might be the most aptly named genre though....

Yeah this slaps, but funk is not really a genre I'd sit and listen to a whole album of, if I'm looking for this sound, I'm gonna stick on funkadelic's 'maggot brain' everyday over this. Still good though, got me boppin'.

Of mikið spjall og áreiti!

It was okay. Good funk album, and that is really all i can say about it.

Disco stu miau

Funky. Probably great for the time but sounds a bit so so now

Very funky, cool record

The Good: FUNK The Bad: FUNK The Ugly: FUNK As Flea from the RHCP stated that when you combine fucking with fun you get FUNK... well, after 1 1/2 songs I was done fucking. Yes, the album has great merit, and the groove is tighter than a virgins clam... but damnit, it's soooooooo repetitive that you just want to start hitting the skip button after 2 minutes instead of sitting out another 6-minute ode to the funk. 3* as I am note stupid

A great funk album, if that's what you're looking for!

I don’t know much about funk music, but this sounds prototypical to me. But it didn't really pick me up. Maybe I'll have to listen to it again sometime.

Amazing album. My first funk album tbh it was pretty good

It feels a bit unfair to drop this badboy right after Stevie Wonder as it was never going to match up, but hey, I'm on a funk kick, why not extend the grooves. Enjoyed the vibes and had a good time with this on the rotation for a few days.

Rick James again? One too many on this list. He’s good, their stuff is funky, but the songs average about 3 minutes too long. Hard to dance too, but great if you’re trippin. This one has its moments, but gets a bit boring after a while.

Pretty ok.

quite funky i liked it 3/5

Sehr funkig.

Not for me, but this album does feature that famous We Want The Funk song.

Decent. Probably paved the way for some other artists. But not for me

I've really enjoyed both Funkadelic albums I've heard so far, so I was looking forward to this one. Sadly, it was just okay. These songs aren't bad, they're just not super interesting, and most of them are way too long. It quickly becomes monotonous, and even though the album is only 38 minutes long it really drags. There's not enough variation, and some of the clavinet-heavy songs sound like Stevie Wonder outtakes that never made it to an album. Give Up the Funk is the only song I knew going into this album, and it's the highlight. Everything else is just ... fine. Funkadelic > Parliament 3/5

I doubt I'd ever come back to this but it was a FUN-ky listen.

Funky Pop.

Amazing groove. Fun.

Me when I’m in a sudden clashing synth sound competition and my opponent is a large ensemble band from the 70s:

Cool Funk

Like the funk factor in this album.

Ultimate demonstration of funk

Super groovy and pretty fun but I doubt I’ll return.

This was not for me but it’s hard to hate on. These guys just seem to be having too much fun.

The album feels in between with lots of verbals, not fully energetic but upbeat. The songs are rather lengthy. It is more like an enforced happy hour by yourself all alone on a Friday afternoon in your own office maybe a glass of spirit as well.

Probably will need to listen to it for a second time to really appreciate the music. So giving it expected 3 stars.

George is cool, but damn this is repetitive.

Maybe it's that everything is on fire all the time, maybe it's more bad experiences with west coast hippies (funk concept album about outer space? white guy is it for me meme), maybe it's that I'm not fun, couldn't get that into this one. I tried turning it up louder. It sounds like it should be a lot of fun if you're receptive to it. ★ ★ ★ Here's my review of Harvest from yesterday, which was SABOTAGED. I can't imagine what I ever could have done to provoke such an act. It's Harvest. The folk rock band is the best folk rock band sound you'll ever hear. Then they do a couple rock songs with one of the best rock band sounds you'll ever hear. (For some reason there's also A Man Needs a Maid. There's A World at least fits in with the album alright.) The album cover is beautiful. Neil does the Neil Young thing with some pretty dumb lyrics that just float on by, and then all of a sudden there's something quite moving. "Did she wake you up to tell you that it's only a change of plans" over pedal steel is incredible, enough to make you ignore "dream up dream up let me fill your cup with the promise of a man" right after. The downside to hearing Harvest early in life is thinking other 70s folk rock might be near this good, big setup for disappointment there. Spotify sucks. Quit giving your money to vampires for a little bit of convenience. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Funky ... mejor de lo que pensaba.

Pretty good album to be honest. I probably won't listen to it again, however, I liked the vibes. The whole album reminded me of 'The Revolution Will Not Be Televised' which is a great 'song'?. It was a generally happy and fun sort of album, not really my cup of tea but also really not a bad listen.

I thought I would like this more than I did. I like the music and the vibe for the most part, but I wasn't as tuned into it as I thought I might be. It feels somewhat repetitive at times. Overall though I had a pretty good time. 3.5 rounded down.

Honestly not really something I would listen to but its still a good album and its vibey ngl so I will hundred percent listen to some of the tracks on it

maybe it's because i listened back to back with the last album but this was a bit of a nothingburger

Definitely funky and creative, I enjoyed it but not enough to rank it higher.

This is a really fun and creative funk record, and while I know I gave it 3 stars, it was bridging the line between that and 4. I ultimately decided to give it a 3 because it’s not as captivating, relistneable, or…well…funky as other funk albums I love. Still, I’m very glad I heard it. George Clinton’s awesome

Give Up the Funk (Tear the Roof Off the Sucker).

Easy to listen to, easy to dance to, played well, recorded well, but not memorable. Favorite song: give up the funk

1975 - unglaublich wie wegweisend!!

Got to have that p funk.

fun :)

Chill funk, not really my style but has a good rhythm! Was a little one dimensional though - all of the songs mostly sounded the same.

enjoyed this, wouldn't normally listen to it personally but it was funky as hell and great to have on in the background, how can you not smile while this sort of thing is on?

Funky ... mejor de lo que pensaba.

fun funk, but i did get bored halfway through listening to it. i found p-funk wants to get funked up more annoying than enjoyable because of the lyrics, but the rest of side a was pretty enjoyable. i didnt enjoy side b though. even the highlight of side b, give up the funk, was just ok to me. maybe im just soulless idk i didnt like how repetitive the lyrics were. it was tolerable and enjoyable at times but i wouldnt listen to again. 3 personal favs: unfunky ufo

Clearly a talented group. When they say funky, they really mean it. Sometimes the experimental stuff doesn't quite work, but still a fun album.

Maybe a little too much funk?

I confused parliament and pavement and I was a bit confused when I started listening. I think I am just a complete idiot. album was fun, dont think ill revisit tho

It's a good time. Worth a listen and gets. good reaction when you put it on after midnight when everyone's had a couple of drinks.

Well, when I listen to it long enough, all I want is to stop it.

Fine but less interesting than I was expecting

Some songs I’d give a 4 but not the whole album.

I felt like I was listening to the Ladies Man playing music. I did enjoy.

Sure.. I like blues/jam music. But this was a litter to silly for my liking.

The instrumentation was cool and funk will always have a nostalgic place in my heart. I also am biased because anything space/intergalactic theme will have me hooked. Other than that, the lyrics and everything else were pretty mid for me.

Really digging this first song! I love the Chocolate Milky Way. Love the sax. Love the uncut funk! Second song is not quite as good, but still fun. Kinda repetitive. Some interesting instrumentation in the fourth song. Handcuffs is a hot song! Nevermind - Do not like the barefoot and pregnant lyric. :( Kinda yucky! Was going to add it to my liked songs, but the song got progressively creepier. Oh I actually know this song (Give Up the Funk)! This last song kind of sounds like a fart LOL.

The funk is heavy with this one as it should be. But I'll be honest and say the talking kind of makes me not want to listen again. We want the funk though! The music itself is good but all the concept album story setup is kind of overkill for me.

Nice little Funk album.

Some fabulous grooves. Favourite tracks: P-funk, Supergroova... And the very suspect Handcuffs.

Good but songs drag on 3.5

Fun funk but gets very repetitive

I'm not huge on pure funk music, but of course this is one of the best of the genre

A funk staple. It's a shame the lyrics for "Handcuffs" are so off. "Unfunky UFO" and "Give Up The Funk" are solid tho.

Funnnnnnnky fresh

schön funky

Very cool. Great album concept, amazing instrumentals! The vocals and spoken word parts don't do anything for me, so I won't be saving it.

Some good jams

Some very cool tracks

Super fun at first, but as it went along it felt like they ran out of tricks

Silly but great grooves

Overall I enjoyed but the songs get very long where I’m ready for something new. But “we want the funk” will always be a banger.

Nice old funk. Enjoyed it.

Was different from my style of music. Enjoyable though. Will have to listen a few times

3.6 Should be a 4. Bootsy is literally from outerspace

The only thing I know of these guys is 'Give Up the Funk,' which is a fun song. The rest of this album is fun, something I'll probably revisit, but not my favorite. 3/5

I want to like funk - but it’s just not my thing! Still, this was pretty fun and I found a few bits that had my toes tapping. Musicians were great but probably won’t get a relisten from me.

This An enjoyable funky album

This is probably better suited for an ambient speaker system than in ear headphones. Layers upon layers here, and so many call forwards to hip hop songs that became part of the modern vernacular.

perfect for the joyous “just finished exams” shower i was enjoying. so fun.

I was really hoping that this would be more fun to listen to on 4/20 than it was. Felt like late stage funk meaning it was just less fun than the Isaac Hayes funkadelic golden age for some reason. P-funk and we want the funk were both good and it was listenable overall, it just didn’t have the juice that my favorite funk albums have.

Very funky, a few stand out tracks and very listenable.

Good, solid album

Made false claims that they can cure my migraines 0/10 I don't know why but the tone of funk baselines makes me feel really unwell which is sad cause I quite like the songs Also all the songs are far too long Eh I didn't enjoy it very much

I enjoyed this more than the recent Funkadelics album, but still felt repetitive and too long overall.

First two tracks were class. Super funky. Loved the surprise Let Me Ride by Dre sample in track 2. Sadly it tailed off a bit after that. Track 3 good but 4-7 really dropped in stature. Will throw those first two into my rotation list though for sure. Good vibes.

3.75 1. L (low/male) / R (high/female) BGV really dope! 2. Piano panned slightly R; Beautifully balanced tension - Not quite a resolve... Not needed 3. Unfunky UFO Kick Drum FUCKS. Wide and Woody-sounding 4. Handcuffs vocal performance is ridiculously dynamic 5. Handcuffs snare transient sounds fragile and rubbery in the most pleasant way 6. Thumpasaurus synth is .... wet (resonant)

I'm always up for some funk music, but this was a little disappointing. The songs don't really get going for me. Decent, but I expected more.

Some good grooves but lacking focus and with too much talking.

Funky with some great musicianship at times. A bit too far out

Funkaliscious

handcuffs does NOT age well, but tear of the roof will literally never get old.

We want the funk!

This music absolutely funks

I caught the vibe but it didn't take me anywhere. Kinda sad The cute phrase of sax that kept playing in the first song is so beautiful

Funky :D

A ton of fun! I could do without the five minute fart song, tho!

Super groovy

Was alright

Always enjoyed this sound

Funky as fuck! George Clinton and his crew absolutely bring the funk and honestly if this doesn’t get you shaking that moneymaker what the hell is wrong with you? One of the best thing to come out of the 1970s is funks explosion into the mainstream. This is a prime example of it at its best.

Yeah. I like the funk. And this one gives it up! Much better than the previous album, which I won't name.

Definitely a lot of fun. High energy, outlandish funk. I feel like a lot of this is sampled in more modern rap, but its great to hear it in its original context. Give Up the Funk is clearly the star, but I enjoyed Unfunky UFO and Handcuffs as well. Supergroovalistic has the entire kitchen sink of layers and sounds... it is crazy how much is going on in the background. Nice surprise.

THAT - was a party!

Nice listen, quick album, will probably never listen to again

More of a Funkadelic fan myself. Maybe this isn’t the greatest album in itself, starts strongly but the later tracks are forgettable. You have to view the ParliaFunkadelicMent things as one big rambling project which gave birth to the greatest sample bank of all time. That said you certainly must endeavour to put a glide in your stride and a dip in your hip and head on over to the mothership.

Mellow funk, totally listenable. Make my funk the p-funk.

I was left expecting more to be honest. A single good song doesn't make a great album.

FAVO: Give up the funk

Give the people what they want when they want and they wants it all the time

Very funky! I didn’t like whatever was going on in that last song.

I want the funk.

Definitely a fun record, funkalicious stuff. Not something I'm wanting to return to but undeniably enjoyable and well crafted. Fav songs: - P-Funk - Give Up the Funk

Not my style of music but is enjoyable

# 180 : Funk is upbeat and infectious, not what I would normally listen too, so a good change of scenery to start the week. Good album, has couple of good tunes. I probably wouldn't buy this, but I might listen to it again one day. Favourite Track : Unfunky UFO

frog music

Didnt enjoy as much as funkadelic but still a good album. Standout songs: Unfunky UFO Handcuffs

Very funky. Not my style

70er Funk.

Holy funk

I'm just not on enough drugs to appreciate this, I think

I liked the humorous lyrics and funky sounds.

Had its moments

Intergalactic funk. Nuff sed.

Funky. Pun intended.

Get up the funk! (2,5)

Decent historical funk.

Pure funk, not heard anything quite like this before.

Funk yeah! Groovalicious. 3+

Wanted to like this, but something about it couldn't keep my attention. I'll likely give it another fair shake again and some point.

Fun listen. I was already familiar with Give Up The Funk, but the whole album is good.

Fun times but funk tends to blend together for me. Certainly groovy though.

The sound was alright, but I couldn't get into it even though I wanted to. Maybe I will revisit it in a few years and feel differently.

We enjoyed it a lot more than we expected to. The sonics were great.

Phunkadelic. Funky. Rap meets Rockin' Soul with Jazz. Fun. Fun to listen to. Not something I'd choose, but entertaining and I will speculate really fun live.

not what I usually listen to but I really enjoyed it.

naja. funky

Fun and funky

Skør og fjollet plade! Men good times.

It was ok, but all the songs were the same, sounded like the soundtrack to Shaft or something.

They have to be the kings of funk. It’s fun to listen to and I appreciate it, but it’s not go-to music for me. 3.5

This is music for people having fun on drugs 🤣🥳 I love a funky beat and I’d like a song from this album thrown into a mix here and there but over and over on one album is not for me. But it’s clearly groundbreaking and well done. 3⭐️

Good representation of the funk genre. Fun, puts a bounce in your step and a smile on your face. Love he horns mixed with the bass rhythm.

I’m digging this funk! 😁 givin me that little bounce at the gym! I feel like I’ve heard Give up the funk. Super catchy. Probably the best track so far. 3 stars.

Funky and groovy!

Bearable

- We really do want the funk - Unfunky UFO is actually insanely funky - This was a very fun listen - 3.5

Old school funky!

Not my genre, hard to compare

Funky, crazy to think this album is almost 50 years old. This sounds like a 70s version of some of the songs off Awaken, My Love! Favorite song: Give Up The Funk Worst song: N/A

Surely the funkiest album ever recorded. Can't say it's a genre I listen to a lot (or ever) but they've completely met the brief. It was fun but I probably wouldn't say good, quite repetitive, any of the tracks accomplishes everything you need. Except the last one which was mostly synth based farting. Breezed by won't return, 2.5.

This album is too funky for its own good! The songs almost blend together so it gets a bit reptitive. I did enjoy this album but I'd never want to listen to it again. Highlights: Give Up The Funk Mothership Connection

Felt like a 70s Daft Punk with a Hendrix touch.

Funkalicious

Funky! Enjoyed this, already new the song Give Up the Funk

Nice in the background, hard to listen to intensely.

Groovey Baby!

Some really good stuff here but it gets old over the course of a whole album.

this is where it comes from.

It's funky!

Funky. Gets repetitive after a while.

Mothership Connection // Give Up The Funk //

3- Stars (7/15)

Unfortunately, it was kind of underwhelming. A very fun album for sure, just not really into it. 6/10 Top 3: 1. Unfunky UFO 2. P-Funk (Wants To Get Funked Up) 3. Give Up The Funk (Tear The Roof Off The Sucker)

Once is enough

Listened to most of it, fam stopped me short. Sounded dated but alright, I’d already heard the album and liked it.

Weird and good

Ok so Parliament and Funkadelic is the same group. And the main guy is called George Clinton ? Nice I just love their works and have grown up with samples of their works in a lot of hip hop songs Funky as it should

chouette

Weirdly the opening track is both the first that comes to mind when thinking of this album, and yet one of the weaker big songs here for me. I went into this knowing I liked it, somewhat peturbed by the first track not hitting much (perhaps due to the lengthier repetitions and spoken word elements), and then immediately pushed back into my confident enjoyment of the record as songs like Star Child and Give Up the Funk rolled in. The latter in particular is a fantastic song. It's a very easy listen, a very fun listen, and probably the first album i've received so far that really feels like it deserves to be heard before you die.

Not too into funk

That was nice to listen to but it did not make a lasting impression on me.

good funk, never listened to the genre much but might give it another try. Will I listen to again: 50%

70's funky / disco

Jauuuu <3

Funky band name, funky album cover, funky music. Just not that into funk I’m afraid.

Funky. 3.5

Funky, groovy, a good time

Pretty fun! And I can see a direct influence on the Mighty Boosh funk stuff.

70's funk, good easy listening music

I sometimes think funk only exists for the funking puns. It is funking great, though. Ahead of its time, more sophisticated and more subtle than I expected. Solid, solid funky times.

Definitely good, definitely funky. Really doesn’t go far enough to stun or impress me, just really easy listening that’s fun at times.

Surprisingly enjoyable but did not finish.

well that's certainly funky, perhaps a bit too funky for me 3.3

Twas alright

They are really trying very hard to be groovy, but unlike DeeLite where "Groove is in the heart ", for this album, Groove is in the Past. The album doesn't hold up against the test of time.

It’s a good one, very funky and everything… but it’s repetitive and not that remarkable.

Can live with it. And funk did not go very far beyond it tho.

Good fun, easy listen

I appreciate funk as much as the next guy, but nothing about this album really stood out to me. It was a solid album that had me bumping at points, but overall it was pretty homogenous. Good not great.

Best song - Give Up The Funk

Really funky, 70' vibes. If 5 is excellent, 4 great, and 3 good, then for now I give 3.

Really funky as you'd expect but feel like this would be driving or background music as nothing jumped out at me

This was very fun. Really just a good time to listen to it. Some of the songs verge on repetitive, but the vibes throughout are very good. I don't think I'll return to this on my own, but whenever I encounter Parliament in the future I'll know that I'm in for a good time.

Didn't enjoy it that much, no funky vibe for me

Funky but a lot of needless talking

Less my style but I like the approach and definetly some groove on there

Very good, groovy and funky music, the extended voiceovers are a bit too much, though, and it's also a bit repetitive. Otherwise, 70s funk rocks!

Fuuuunky! Wasn't expecting this genre today, but it is 100% welcome. Give up the funk is iconic. It's a nice feeling to throw on an album not knowing anything, then realizing "We want the funk" was on here. This album's use of backup vocals and echoes made me think of D'Angelo's "Black Messiah" - love that sound. Likely not going to be in my rotation, but love to explore!

stand out track - Give UP The Funk

Funkiest ever. Best vibe ever, the funky rhythm section sits so perfectly with the bass singing-narrating, the singing is just an instrument used for a rhythmic melodic function. What they do they do the best.

Too funky? Not sure I like the repetition

Fun album. The songs outside of the biggest hits were ok but still enjoyable. The auto generated spotify playlist after the album was a fun listen too. Rick James, Average White Band, The Jackson 5, etc...

Unfunky UFO is great. Had no idea give up the funk was by this artist. Fun album, some songs were pretty similar though.

Definitely not my style of music to hear but it was nice to listen to something new. Of course I’ve heard Give Up the Funk (Tear the Roof Off the Sucker) before.

Retro funky music... Quality is clear, full spectrum, bass is good for 70s recording. Too much talking.

Really thought I'd already heard this. Seems to be the defining inspiration for 90s West coast rap.

Except for Unfunky UFO and kind of Give up the funk, I feel like the grooves are a bit too similar through the album and horns are chaotic the whole way through, clashing in the mix a lot with whatever improv or ad libs the vocals are going for. I get this style calls for a repetitive groove, as old school funk would want it and just come back to the 1 every time and groove along but I feel like I’d rather hear James brown in that case or earth wind and fire or tower of power for more eventful songs. I know the band is legendary though and I am very very inclined to hearing later albums and other projets of George Clinton

It certainly is funky, and a good amount of the time that is a good thing on this record, as I felt myself slowly getting into it with each song, but if I take a step back and truly look at this album as a whole, it's very repetitive and lacks a whole lot of substance, to the point where a good amount of the tracks lack lyrics for a portion of the song. I understand I'm supposed to be getting down with it and not caring, but it's a little hard to when you're just sitting at a desk, doing work. Perhaps that's unfair to the album, but I mean, if I'm still getting into it while doing menial tasks, then it must be pretty good funk.

Overrated I'm sorry. Great music that I thoroughly enjoy, I'll take thoroughly first album any day

Good fun. P-funk and Give up the Funk were great. Kind of the same throughout, but groovy and fun. More of a chill-groove album than anything. Gotta love the lollipop man.

Leuke achtergrond muziek. Heel funky en grappig. A goed introductie in afrofuturism.

Classic p funk baby. They’ve got the fake radio station thing going, and the production is so solid. Lollipop man - the long-haired sucka (genius) I did find myself bored in a lot of spots. Maybe it’s because I listened to it before, or could only have one earbud in since I’m at work.

Pretty aight

I have never actively listened to Parliament (or Funkadelic for that matter), but I'm sure I've heard it passively countless times playing at parties or in the background. I had kind of always written them off as something I wouldn't find that interesting. I was only partially right. It's definitely interesting and good and it grooves so hard. It's still not something that is going to get me jazzed but I guess I can say I fully understand the appeal now.

It's a whole album of groovy bangers...

It was good

A bit too much with the radio/aliens bit but enjoyable overall.

Very vibey... every song just feels like a trip

Hadn't heard of these guys, and I do like a bit of funk.... but sadly these guys were only able to put the funk into the titles of their tracks. Most of the tracks had the same drum and bass, and had a decent build up to that funk sound, but never really completed the deal, which was disappointing.

Ok listening, happy enough to play it in the background. Can see where some of the older West Coast rappers took their samples from.

2.5. Not bad, not great.

Funky!

funky voor een goeie chill vibe.

This sounds great, but I was also left feeling that if you've heard one Parliament album, you have heard them all, to a degree. It's a formula, but a good one. I recognised bits here and there that had been sampled, but this was more a background to other things than something that grabbed me and made me listen from start to finish.

I love how this album goes from quiet to loud as the tracks build up. Parliament were funk trailblazer for Pixies. I couldn't stay still listening to this. The funk slowed down and stretched out. I felt a little peculiar after the album had finished and needed to sit down.

I think the thumpasorus has a bad case of gas. Pretty fun funk, a higher end 3/5 for me.

Fun to listen to, because it's funky, and I can appreciate it. But my patience wore down as it went on. None of the songs stuck in my head.

This is just about as funky as it gets. Unfortunately I wasn't feeling too funkadelic myself, maybe this would be a 4 on a party night.

The sound is interesting, but the songs are a bit repetitive. It's like listening to the soundtrack to Subway Surfers.

The funkiest of funky funks.

3.5 - .5 is for Give Up the Funk

A funking good time!!

Give Up the Funk - seminal Chooooooon! Fun, upbeat - perfect for a Monday morning where the News is tinged with doom.

It's hard not to like this. It's also hard to get too excited by it. I can see popping this on in the background for a party, but I think even there it would get old after the third song.

Good groovy fun. Some whackier bits didn't land for me but who really cares. Light 3.5 Fav track: give up the funk

Funky fun in the sun. Honestly didn't strike me as anything truly special, but it's pretty undeniably entertaining throughout. Some of the silliness (googoogaagaa) got a little much for me. Three and a half. Fave track: Give Up the Funk

Funk and Motown music, feels like the kind of thing that would be on Soul Train. It’s definitely fun to listen to, but there’s a lot of interlude and talking. It does grow on you over time, though 3/5

Funk's alright
