I'm not huge on pure funk music, but of course this is one of the best of the genre
A funk staple. It's a shame the lyrics for "Handcuffs" are so off. "Unfunky UFO" and "Give Up The Funk" are solid tho.
Joyous, exciting, dynamic, fun, bouncy. Odd listen to it again. I keep thinking of what would I need doing where this is a pretty awesome thing to listen to. In I think walking to work. Commuting. Gymming. Gardening. It's a good bit of energy to have through your ears. 3 stars, 4 stars? Unsure. Let's go 4.
Love this funky album
Yeah, this is a groovy and enjoyable album. I can't give it only 3 stars, had to be 4 because some of the songs are stuck on me.

I always assumed that the P in P-funk stood for parliament as they are so funky they created their own damn musical genre. Did I put this on my headphones and walk down the main street in Swords where o work and feel like the blackest white man in town -yes. Did I enjoy every second - absolutely
Very cool. Great album concept, amazing instrumentals! The vocals and spoken word parts don't do anything for me, so I won't be saving it.
Had to put on my special funk trousers for this one. Not sure my regular ones would have coped otherwise.
I'm definitely more of a Parliament person than a Funkadelic person, though both are still good. Absolutely love this album. Great songs top to bottom. Can't really pick a favorite because they're all fantastic.

Parliament is a band entirely made up of aliens from the funkiest planet imaginable. They come in peace, and they come to funk your face off. It's a continuous groove that I think even the most stern person would get caught up in. Favorite tracks: "P-Funk (Wants To Get Funked Up)", "Handcuffs"

Super fun at first, but as it went along it felt like they ran out of tricks
Great background listen, sampled often in hip-hop. Wouldn't call it a diverse album or sound but what it does it does well.
First track I was all like ‘less talkin’, more groovin’!’ After that they duly obliged. Lots of irresistibly squelchy, spacey beats. These guys sure put the ‘fun’ in funk; this is a rare example of the genre that I’d happily listen to again all the way through.
Silly but great grooves
Overall I enjoyed but the songs get very long where I’m ready for something new. But “we want the funk” will always be a banger.

Funk as delivered by the greats.
We want the funk is timeless, lots of protofunk and I can see how it’s influenced a lot that’s come after it. Beyond a few highs like handcuffs and give up the funk it was a tad generic but that’s to be expected of early work like this.
Hot dang, this is fly! I'd never heard of this group before, but I dig it! What surprised me the most is the random dialogue dubbed in. I've heard similar types of chatter or playful riffing in rap or hip hop albums of the late 80s and forward, but this album is from 1975! I think that's the earliest I've heard that style used. These were great beats—I think Imma' let them bring the funk back to me again, real soon! This is a 3.5 for me, but I'm happy to round up to a four.

Great album. So much going on with the music! And so many funky ass horns, bass lines, and yes, synth-driven fart sounds that make you dance and not get disgusted. So many musical pops and gurgles that never get old; it’s clear why it was a sampling gold mine for hip-hop. Handcuffs is a bit misogynistic but damn if it isn’t funky. All the musicians are next level, but Bootsy is the MVP here. Simple answer is YES, I want my funk uncut!

Would be a 3 for me on its own merit (unfunky UFO is the best song I hadn’t heard before) but the fact that most songs are sampled in 90s hip hop songs bumps it up. Is Dr Dre’s career even possible without Parliament?

The only thing I know of these guys is 'Give Up the Funk,' which is a fun song. The rest of this album is fun, something I'll probably revisit, but not my favorite. 3/5
Damn is this a fun one. I've probably listened to this album a hundred times and look forward to the next one hundred plus between now and the day the great UFO in the sky takes me back. George Clinton had such a perfectly out there vision for this record that was executed perfectly. Bootsy Collins shows a masterclass of both funk and restraint. Give Up the Funk has such a simple bass line but I could listen to that groove for hours. The synth and instrument effects are a marvel as well. Listening to the horrors that were just starting to be inflicted on pop music (and would peak in the 80s) with terribly misguided synthesizers, there are hardly any misses here. The fart synth on Thumpasorous Peoples is the worst and even that one was tasteful. Bootsy work with filters on that bass are legendary and defined whole eras of playing. Even beyond the music, I love what Clinton said about the concept itself. "We had put black people in situations nobody ever thought they would be in, like the White House. I figured another place you wouldn't think black people would be was in outer space." This is a rare, lightning in a bottle type of album. It works on every level and defines while also breaking new ground on an entire movement of music. One of my all time favorite records.
Great musicianship and pretty great mix. Wasn't especially in the mood when I started but it grew on me.
This is one crazy funk album, and I loved it! The album cover sets the scene: one of the funkiest bands of the 1970s in a mothership, flying through space trying to find the mothership connection—wild! Short and sweet, what an awesome album!
I want to like funk - but it’s just not my thing! Still, this was pretty fun and I found a few bits that had my toes tapping. Musicians were great but probably won’t get a relisten from me.

This is the definition of funk. While I personally prefer Sly and the Famous Stone, this is a fun record with great grooves. I really enjoyed all of the self referential lyrics.
Let's get funky! This is one of the best examples of pure genre we've seen so far. These songs are not about anything except the GROOVE and that's ok with me. I guess there are some light sci-fi/afrofuturism themes which unify the album but this album is definitely about the music itself. Of course the bass is great, but the horns add a lot for me too. I had a lot of fun listening to this. Parliment is a very unique group and I bet their live show would have been fantastic in their prime. The line in the first song where they make fun of white artists doing funk is hilarious.
This An enjoyable funky album
This is probably better suited for an ambient speaker system than in ear headphones. Layers upon layers here, and so many call forwards to hip hop songs that became part of the modern vernacular.

feeling funked up
I was really hoping that this would be more fun to listen to on 4/20 than it was. Felt like late stage funk meaning it was just less fun than the Isaac Hayes funkadelic golden age for some reason. P-funk and we want the funk were both good and it was listenable overall, it just didn’t have the juice that my favorite funk albums have.

Parliament albums are always fun. Some great jamming. Some weird lyrics. I don’t think this album is as consistent as some of their others though.
Mothership Connection I’m fairly familiar with Mothership Connection although I don’t listen to it that often. I love the concept of this album, and the whole Parliament/Funkadelic ethos/philosophy/universe. P. Funk (Wants to Get Funked Up). Great opener, like the spoken word, introduces the brilliant but loopy concept. Love the Rachmaninov style piano in the outro. Mothership Connection (Star Child) carries it on with another banger. Unfunky UFO, Supergroovalisticprosifunkstication and Handcuffs aren’t perhaps as strong as those first two songs but they are still very good, Unfunky UFO in particular is white overbite dancing good. Shades of Sex & Drugs & Rock’n’Roll in the piano in Supergroovalisticprosifunkstication. And then Give Up the Funk (Tear the Roof off the Sucker). Absolute all time classic banger. Night of the Thumpasorus Peoples is a great title and a nice farty way to round things out, even if the song isn’t as strong as the title. There’s just the right blend of funk, disco, soul and jazz, the jazzy bits don’t intrude on the songs. The playing is superb. Bootsy Collins bass is so good, a great tone and simultaneously melodic and percussive, and is great in tandem with the drums. Brilliant horns too. Trying not to compare it to yesterday’s album as it’s just a quirk of the randomness but it’s night and day. This is fun, funny and excellent, yesterday was dull and wanky. So all in all this is a great listen, three absolute classics with the remainder very good if not quite as great as those three It’s somewhere between 4 and 5, I’ll go 4. ⭐⭐⭐⭐️

If you want to talk about defining a genre, have a chat with George Clinton. What a freakishly creative and talented person he is, and his Parliament group gave birth to so much amazing music. George is basically the Miles Davis of funk’s roots in the 70s, and he has definitely earned that title. I think the only people who put this on and don’t enjoy it in some small capacity probably just bang their heads against the wall for fun. This has every single thing a funk record should have, and more. Fucking Bootsy Collins for god sake. What more needs to be said about that man’s otherworldly bass playing? But every member holds their own with ease. George is such a flashy vocalist and band leader, and makes his presence immediately. Even with how amazing everything sounds here, if George was removed from this, it would definitely be lacking a lot of the character. But it sure isn’t. They managed to create some of the strangest lyrical hooks I’ve probably ever heard, but they are total earworms. They just get stuck with you. The synth work is incredible. The drums and bass sound better than records produced in the last 6 months. It still amazes me how many artists manage to regress in production clarity nowadays. This was 1975, and still sounds beyond its time. P-Funk exists because of these guys. The genre pretty much gets its namesake from them. And they really succeeded in creating a bombastic and spectacular set of futuristic funk bangers. Rating: 9/10

This is so good. Classic. Infinitely influential. The fat synth funk. The bass of Bootsy Collins. The charisma of George Clinton. The general theme and tongue-in-cheek paired with premium musicianship and dynamics, so funking cool. Doing it in my ear holes. 4.5 easy.
First two tracks were class. Super funky. Loved the surprise Let Me Ride by Dre sample in track 2. Sadly it tailed off a bit after that. Track 3 good but 4-7 really dropped in stature. Will throw those first two into my rotation list though for sure. Good vibes.

Not for me.
I cantfunky. Actually, I think I don't even perceive these vintage genres (funk, disco, etc) as real music. I never listened to music like this myself, don't know a single person who did. For me it feels like constructed languages, like someone invented this style to serve as "soundtrack to 70s" to use in movies. Obviously I know it's real, but this mental block is stopping me from understanding/liking this music.
I caught the vibe but it didn't take me anywhere. Kinda sad The cute phrase of sax that kept playing in the first song is so beautiful
Funky 70s rap
Deeply funky, incredibly talented, not totally my sort of thing, but absolutely great fun. I'm marking it down a little because I wasn't totally disappointed when it was over, but I'm sure that says more about me than Parliament.
I had Funkadelic a few days ago, now I get Parliament and that means George Clinton is responsible for me being *at least* 72% more funky this week. I'm super funky, fresh and fly, y'heard?

Although I wouldn't hold it as high as most of the other 5's I've given, it deserves it, for good vibes, and being one of the highest standards of funk music to ever come out.
This album is so good.
This is the maximum funk allowable by law.
I'm sure these guys are great fun; most likely a fucking riot to be around. And they undoubtedly love to party. But there's something a bit too theatrical about this kind of funk. It hits like a musical or comedy album at this point. Personally, it's a groove that is limited to a specific time and place (and with specific chemicals in your bloodstream). Parliament have a cool sound, but it's not my everyday jam. 🤷🏼

I like funk but this is 💩
Funky as fuck! George Clinton and his crew absolutely bring the funk and honestly if this doesn’t get you shaking that moneymaker what the hell is wrong with you? One of the best thing to come out of the 1970s is funks explosion into the mainstream. This is a prime example of it at its best.

Yeah. I like the funk. And this one gives it up! Much better than the previous album, which I won't name.
Definitely a lot of fun. High energy, outlandish funk. I feel like a lot of this is sampled in more modern rap, but its great to hear it in its original context. Give Up the Funk is clearly the star, but I enjoyed Unfunky UFO and Handcuffs as well. Supergroovalistic has the entire kitchen sink of layers and sounds... it is crazy how much is going on in the background. Nice surprise.
Turns out I'm not a funk fan. It seemed like a lot of the times they were saying funk, they were really wanting to say fuck. So, I'm not a fan of the album, but it's personal taste.

Als iemand je vraagt wat funk is moet je diegene dit album laten horen. Van begin tot eind ultiem genieten en lekker dansen.
Muziekinnovatie is hier te vinden. Een bijzondere blend van funk, soul, jazz, psychedelic rock en een grote dosis sci-fi referenties. Clinton is de grootvader van de (p-)funk. En dat laat ‘ie hier horen. Het zijn stuk voor stuk nummers waar het bijna onmogelijk is om je hoofd niet bij mee te bewegen. De basslinetjes zijn zo infectueus, vocalen smooth, synthjes fururistisch, percussie strak. Mijn favoriet is Give Up The Funk. Deze is zo vaak terug te horen in sampletjes (61 keer volgens WhoSampled!). Het samenspel tussen lage en hoge vocalen werkt als een trein. Bass is heerlijk. Als afsluiter Night of the Thumpasorus. Het P-Funk collectief was een tweekoppig monster, met enerzijds het hoofd dat zijn blik richtte op de rockwereld, en anderzijds een visie op de disco fever die om zich heen greep in de US. Maar beide koppen, Funkadelic én Parliament, werden gedreven door een hart die funkbloed door het lijf pompte. Waar het Funkadelic-tijdperk al bekend stond om het mobiliseren van een karrenvracht aan talent, muzikanten met een wijdverspreide affiniteit in genres en hallucinerende drugs, komt het collectief pas echt tot explosie halverwege de 70s. Meer dan 200 leden/affiliates kende de act gedurende zijn bestaan, een lidmaatschap wat je gegarandeerd een lauwe bijnaam opleverde (Stingray, Bigfoot, P-Nut, Quazedelic Poo Poo Man, noem maar op: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_P-Funk_members) Als je gecharmeerd bent van zwarte muziekhistorie, en het ontstaan van Hip Hop en andere moderne genres, dan is de P-Funk discografie echt een bodemloze schatkist aan intrigerende albums en onverwachtse wendingen. En bovenal eentje die overloopt van het speelplezier, wat ook op dit album weer van ongekend niveau is. Van het quirky buitenaardse thema en het zelfgecreëerde woordenboek waarin elke term opeens rijmt met het woord funk, tot de futuristische instrumenten en ritmes waarbij je moeilijk stil kan zitten. Het enthousiasme spat er vanaf. Het album is fantasierijk, speels, en bovenal goddamn funky. En ten grondslag aan die feeststemming ligt het escapistische thema dat de band eigen heeft gemaakt, in dit geval afrofuturisme. Het collectief weet politieke en sociale ontevredenheid altijd om te zetten in aanstekelijke en positieve energie, zonder dat de boodschap verloren gaat. Ondanks dat ik wel een liefhebber ben van het gehele concept, is Funkadelic de magneet die mij hun wereldje in heeft getrokken, en mij er ook voornamelijk inhoudt. Ik vind Parliament een hoop fun, doet het wat beter op feestjes, en ze hebben hooks for days, maar het verrassingseffect ligt veel lager dan in het werk van zijn voorloper. Deze transitie kun je een beetje vergelijken met wat er in die jaren op nationale schaal gebeurde, een mengelmoes aan soul, funk, blues, rock en R&B werd langzaam aan geëgaliseerd. De rauwe randjes verdwenen, het tempo werd afgestemd op de motoriek van de gemiddelde danser: disco maakte zijn intreden. De oriëntatie van P-Funk in meer dansbare en gangbare stijlen legde een belangrijke basis voor de housemuziek in de begin jaren 80, maar zorgde er ook voor dat de psychedelische elementen en de bluesy gitaren de deur werden gewezen. Het is wat voorspelbaarder en repetitiever, maar desalniettemin nog steeds compleet uniek vergeleken met vele andere dance-acts die zich op de uitpuilende markt bevonden. Het nieuwe elan van de P-Funk wordt subliem geïntroduceerd in het openingsnummer, die direct een lading funk (500,000 kilowatts of P-Funk power om precies te zijn) door je lichaam jaagt. Iconisch startschot, en love de horn sectie van funk legends Maceo Parker en Fred Wesley. De titelsong die volgt neemt geen gas terug, en bevat misschien wel de hookiest of hooks. 'Unfunky UFO' ziet de groep iets meer teruggrijpen naar de classic funk era, en is iets minder futuristisch. Niet de allersterkste fase van het album, maar zelfs de wat mindere songs uit het collectieve brein van P-Funk zijn heel vermakelijk. Voor de twee absolute hoogtepunten van het album moeten we op het tweede kantje kijken, waar 'Handcuffs' en 'Give Up The Funk' een heerlijk duo vormen. De eerste temporiseert de stroomversnelling genaamd "Mothership Connection" een beetje, en dat komt het album te goede. De vocalen van Glen Goins zijn m'n favoriet op het album, echt een hidden gem. 'Give Up The Funk' draait de funkkraan weer open, en er is verder weinig uitleg nodig waarom dit hun signature track is geworden. Een ode aan het genre, maar tegelijkertijd ook een sterke vormgever. En gewoon eindeloos catchy. Ik voel me dan wel wat meer aangetrokken tot het funk rock experiment dat Funkadelic heet, en ik mis de virtuositeit van Eddie Hazel, maar toch sta ik er wel achter dat dit het magnum opus van het collectief wordt genoemd. Er wordt weinig meer geflirt met andere genres, maar ondanks dat je vanaf het eerste nummer al weet wat je kunt verwachten zijn de grooves en de hooks zo besmettelijk dat je zelfs na tientallen luisterbeurten nog niet immuun bent. Het album heeft dan ook een perfecte lengte, want langer dan drie kwartier zou killing zijn voor een plaat die voornamelijk leeft op de energie van de luisteraar. 8,5/10 Highlights: Mothership Connection (Star Child) Handcuffs Give Up The Funk (Tear The Roof Off The Sucker)
We got the groove! Mijn treinritje van 37 minuten precies dit hele album doorgefunkt. Parliament trekt alle toeters en bellen uit de kast. Wat een muzikaliteit. Het ene moment luister je naar soul, vervolgens naar disco en dan lijkt het weer meer op Stop Making Sense of Remain in Light van Talking Heads. En die variatie zit vaak binnen de nummers. Voor je weet ben je doorgefunkt naar een nieuw luikje met muzikaal vernuft. Treinritje zat er zo op. Zo naar Utrecht gefunked. 8/10 Highlights Unfunky UFO (vanwege blazers) Give Up the Funk

More of a Funkadelic fan myself. Maybe this isn’t the greatest album in itself, starts strongly but the later tracks are forgettable. You have to view the ParliaFunkadelicMent things as one big rambling project which gave birth to the greatest sample bank of all time. That said you certainly must endeavour to put a glide in your stride and a dip in your hip and head on over to the mothership.

Heel moeilijk album om te reviewen. Het was destijds echt heel erg vernieuwend en nog steeds klinkt het als een soort alien achtige muziek. Niet van deze planeet zeg maar. Maar het luistert heel erg als een album, niet als losse nummers. Daarom denk ik ook dat ik maar 1 FAVO heb, terwijl hte album an sich wel erg vermakelijk vond! Maar vermakelijk is niet genoeg, we zijn streng hier. ik vond het wel een prettig album, maar alleen prettig is niet voldoende voor de felbegeerde 4 sterren. FAVO: Give up the funk

Ok listen I did not fully replay this album today, but I've played it before and Parliament is (as far as I've ever encountered) always at least three stars for me. Funky, still fresh sounding somehow in 2024, and silly. However: four long tracks for sittin' at home is not my favorite form factor.
Really enjoyed this. I've liked funk but never really dove into it before. Groovy, good pacing mixups, good flow from song to song.

Definitive funk sound. Prominent use of spoken word. Exceptional vocal performance on “Handcuffs”. Virtuosic rhythm section. A number of catchy melodies. Deserves multiple listens.

A funky good time like only P-Funk can bring. This one is a bit more gimmicky and not quite at the level of artistry of Maggot Brain but is still brilliant and irresistibly fun. The lyrics of “Handcuffs” are pretty cringe though and the talky bits take me out of it a bit.

The talent of this band is evident right away! I love how fun it is. It was a fun romp. Way shorter than I expected a rollicking funk album to be. The hit hit just like they always did. The playful plays on words “funked up” “mother sucker” are fantastic additions. Fun times!

Did you know this is a funk album? Just thought I'd mention that just in case you didn't pick up on it from the lyrics where it feels like every other work is "funk", seriously can they talk about fucking anything else other than goddamn funk? Oh yes, they can. The last song is just a bunch of grown men constantly repeating "gagagooga". Who knew babies could have such deep voices. Anyway, insufferable lyrics aside, let's talk about the actual music. This is where I am very conflicted. I know that it's not *bad*, it's just that I've never been a fan of this genre, so an entire album of pure funk with very little diversity is not something I at all enjoyed listening to. Outside of a disco in the 70s, I really don't see myself enjoying this album in any other context, which just makes me so glad that this type of music died decades ago.

I had Maggot Brain 4 days before this and didn't think much of it. This, though ... what an album. Stephen Hawking's medics should have had this on his rubbish laptop rather than the terrible synthetic and that little bugger would have been back on his feet in no time. To quote notable 90s androgynous croon-metallers Extreme, if you don't like what you see here, get the funk out.

Parliament - Mothership Connection Cosmic funk by the greatest funk band in the galaxy! Throw this on when you feel down and your spirit will be lifted. You can't listen to this without dancing around. This album was considered a parody of funk artists at the time as this group didn't take themselves very seriously. 5/5
One of the great things about going through this list is discovering things about yourself. I had no idea I was such a lover of funk. But I am! This album is great. Just groovy beats to vibe out to. Plus it features one of the best songs of all time. An easy 5/5

Love, love, love this album. Put glide in your stride and a dip in your hip, and come on to the mothership. One of my all time favourites. Clinton was sampled before you could even do such a thing. Reasonably sure I referred to this in an earlier review. Unfunky UFO is one of my favouritest track ever. Only one score I can give this.

It's really excellent! Not sure why George Clinton performed under at least 2 monikers. It sounded like Funkadelic, so why Parliament - or is it the other way round? Doesn't matter as it was great. Lots going on instrumentally with the fusion of funk and psychedelia, i like the idea of psyche you can dance to, and i must investigate GC's back catalogue sometime. Apparently the lyrics are out of this world too, but didn't concentrate on those too much as usual. A low 4.

Funky as hell
George Clinton is one of greatest artists on the planet, and still prolific to this day. He took what James Brown was doing and literally took it into outer space. When Brown's bassist Bootsie taught Clinton about Brown's musical principle of "The One" (in a 4/4, everything happens on the 1), Clinton was never the same. This album is pure joy, imagination, and enthusiasm for life and alternate funky realities, and represents one of the best George Clinton lineups in the Clinton Administration. Gary Shider on guitar, Bernie "The Wizard of Woo" Worrell on keys, and Bootsie Collins on bass. Clinton's strength was always in his ability to assemble and channel talent to express his imagination, which hit it's larger than life pinnacle in this album. This is one of DOZENS of albums in his catalogue, and by no means the best, but it's easily the most immediately palatable. For more on the social philosophies and bonkers sense of humor by this great man, dig into more albums by Funkadelic, Parliament, P-Funk all-stars, and Clinton solo. It's a funky, fun, sometimes dark universe that always makes me feel like I'm on top of the world.

This funks
It defo has that funk, was I wanting a bit more funk, probably but it got me grooving in my chair. Slightly odd, crazy 70s aesthetic to this project but it was relatively enjoyable. Quite a few moments felt very of their time but nothing to completely hate on. A decent funky album.

Really made me want to get funked up. The fun energy, great instrumentation, and good vibes make this album fun and easy listening. It's hard to not dance a little while you're listening. I knew the Give Up The Funk song before but I'm glad I could hear the whole album now. I love the jammy sections. This is another album that reminds me that modern jam bands have basically just taken inspiration from black artists. Jazz and funk is such a part of the modern jam band sound.
So good. The bass, guitar, synths, horns and drums. Chorus style sing-along vocals. This record is fantastic. The music is full, interesting, jammy and psychedelic. I love how they committed to a concept album, but kind they tell the story with humor and slang. But it's not Frank Zappa hilarity. They're having fun and adding humor and jazz to this record in a way that feels natural and fitting. It goes in an out of jams and sections, and then connects everything back to sing alongs. It really grounds the listener after taking off. Absolutely fantastic. Its cool to see how this has influenced modern artists like Childish Gambino.

The smartest thing George Clinton did might have been the aesthetic divisions between Parliament and Funkadelic. Parliament was designed to be more accessible and pop oriented, while Funkadelic was the home for the collective's heavier, more 'out there' sounds. By separating these competing artistic impulses, they could simultaneously put out records like Funkadelic's Let's Take It to the Stage and Parliament's Mothership Connection. Both are extraordinary albums, but you couldn't make a cohesive album by picking and choosing songs from each. Mothership Connection was beamed directly into homes across America thanks to the enormous success of "Give Up the Funk", and with it, the course of music history was indelibly altered. The success of this album opened up the world to the entire P-Funk collective. Without it, you don't get The Chronic, but you also don't get Speaking in Tongues. It's really impossible to understate the importance of Parliament, or of Mothership Connection. Listening to it, you can almost hear the tendrils of P-Funk reaching out to influence damn near everything that came after.
Not my favorite P-funk album but how can I resist anything that makes me shimmy my shoulders this much sitting down?

Who doesn’t love Parliament? I was pumped when I saw this was my selection for today. I’d heard the hits but listening to an entire album was something I hadn’t done. This album is just one hell of a fun time. It’s a party. It’s a concept album. It’s afrofuturism. I just don’t know what more I could’ve wanted out of a fun album. Such a clear vision for an album, such a defined sound and groove. The attitude, the confidence. No one does it better than Parliament.

First time listening to this record. I was familiar with a few of the tunes on this record, growing up in the seventies. My mother would expose me to funk and R&B. Great listen, a lot of fun. Added to my favorites.

Hell yes, P-funk. Eternally groovy. George Clinton's influence on music is huge. Maybe one of the last classic bandleaders. He lets others shine (like vocals from Goins) where others would want the spotlight for themselves. So weird, so funky, so great. 4.9
