Reviews (page 11 of 14)

Since I’m not into funk I can only say it is definitely funky Funky with hip hop influences in the vocals Fav song:

Very funky, enjoyed it, good listen

Some funky beats!

Good not great. Didn’t know this is where Dre lifted Let Me Ride

Liked what I heard of it, need to listen to it all

Well ain’t this funky. A bit interesting as there’s this weird extraterrestrial funk theme they spend a reasonable amount of time on in the first few tracks, but given it’s so funky it sort of works in a whimsical way? I’d say it’s “accessible” funk, in that it’s not ramming really loud vocals or excessive sax solos down your earnoggins, and genuinely enjoyable. Maybe just a bit done with it all by the time I got to the last couple of tracks.

This album is funky. It's funky from start to finish. And if you were ever at risk of forgetting how funky it is, it reminds you every song that it's really funky. I enjoyed it as a passing interest and pretty sure I can hear lots of bits that I have heard sampled in various pop mixes since. I accept it's relevance but not my genre.

Not bad for when I’m in the mood to FUNK

Not bad at all

Fun and funky funk that makes me feel funky.

If I hear the word funk again I'm going to scream

Some og funk , sign me up

Maybe this ain’t for me

P-Funk is extremely good and I already knew Give Up the Funk. Overall, just one song really catched my attention in a big way, but I still appreciated the instruments and the funky vibes.

The singing style mixed with spoken word is kinda cool. The backing tracks for this album have an otherworldly sound to it. I didn't like length of the songs on this album, as I feel like I've heard everything the song has to offer in the first 3 or so minutes and so it starts to drag for the rest of the song. So when EVERY song is like that, it made the album really tiring.

Classically good funk. Good vibes and fun times rolled into one album

As I’ve gotten older I’ve leaned into funk and really dig it. Interesting to read that this album was the early influencer for other funk. Obviously Give Up The Funk is top-tier. I did mostly like the album as a whole, but what grated on me was the talking over the music. The singing was excellent but oh so much talking. Will listen to again.

Funky!

Funkiest shit, wel beetje veel van hetzelfde. "Give Up The Funk" is iconic.

Funky funky... wish the songs (besides The Known One) were catchier

I now realize Dr Dre ripped this entire thing for The Chronic. Might need depression meds. First half is better than second half, funk never really seemed to grab me in general.

Begint leuk, zeker voor herhaling vatbaar, en wat nummers die mogelijk leuk zijn voor in een afspeellijst.

71/100. Had higher expectations going into it as I like what I’ve heard from them, was a little disappointed

Слишком однообразная и монотонная музыка для меня, 5,5 из 10.

Nostalgic 70’s Nice n funky jams with some great bass lines.

Not quite a 4 but fun

It was okay.

# Album Name: Mothership Connection # Artist: Parliament # Rating: 3/5 # Comments: WARNING, WARNING - Extreme funk alert. Too much tbh. Was alright # Top Tunes: F knows # Would I listen to it again? No

Funky! A mellow vibe.

Liika on liikaa, vaikka tämä pfunk-soundi olikin ihan miellyttä. 3 mennään.

Leppoisia ja swengaavia kappaleita. Kokonaisuudessaan hyvän mielen levy.

Appreciated the vibes , doubtful I'd listen again to the whole album but can see why it was nominated, lots of recognisable samples!

sonically I really enjoyed the album, but lyrically it absolutely turned me off of it. big fan of the synth and the low vocals, but the repetition in the last song, and the lyrics of ‘handcuffs’ were just. kind of awful! it’s one star lyrically and 4 stars in how it sounds so it gets three.

Yeah this is freakin cool as ice, straight from the get go there is some serious groove here👌 I feel it's definitely an album to listen to out loud rather than through headphones though. So give it a go at least once. Turn the bass up, turn the volume up. I really liked this. Can't say I've ever listened to a funk album before either. Some great songs on this one for sure, featuring the legendary track 'Give up the funk' which most of us would know or at least would recognise. If you hear it you'll know it. An album I'll come back for a listen from time to time for sure. Groovy baby.

This is pretty groovy but not many catchy songs besides Give up the funk

Maybe I don't like funk

Standout Songs: P-Funk (Wants To Get Funked Up) Unfunky UFO Handcuffs

Decent songs. Was catchy but extremely repetitive 3 ⭐️

Not bad, was jamming until the last song. 3*

Enjoyable but the same issues as every funk album I’ve been given so far so repetitive enjoy the first few minutes of a song then there’s still another 5 minutes left of it, however the first funk album I’ve not skipped to the end of a song

Awesome groove, though some of the songs feel too long and repetitive.

How many times is the worf "funk" and it's various iterations used on this album - and in such a wide array meanings. It's a noun (the funk), adjective (funky _______) and verb (as in "to funk"). Certainly a lot of rhythm going down. p.s. which is a more awesome spell check stumper - thumposaurus on mothersucker?

Wild and weird, but enjoyable. Favourite songs include Give Up The Funk, Unfunny UFO and Mother ship Connection. You can see how it has led to so many other influences in funk, disco and pop music going forward. Also love the concept and album art.

Funk isn't really my style but I found the album entertaining enough

Favorite Track: P-Funk

Funk-Musik aus den 70ern. Eine wilde Sound-Kombination. 3/5

It's fun, but nothing I'd come back to

6/10 Could have been 4 stars - the best bits are great, although the 1st track has my least favourite elements of meandering.

2.5/5.0: Mixed

Sparse but funky.

I expected to like this much more than I did.

WOW! defo the funkiest funk ive heard.

I remember hearing “Give Up the Funk” often on the radio when I was in high school, and I would sing along with the chorus, but I guess I had the lyrics wrong, as I sang, “we want the bump, give us the bump.” 🤣 Anyway, I didn’t mind listening to this album, although it really isn’t my kind of music. I also thought that some of the songs were just too long, as this is one of my frequent complaints. But overall, this album gets 3 stars from me. I won’t bother listening to it again, but I wouldn’t mind hearing Give up the Funk from time to time.

Liked it a lot but not my kinda music. I wouldn't listen to it on a regular basis or add it onto a playlist but I did enjoy the sound of it.

Enjoyable, like a wedding reception mix. Definitely ahead of its time.

I much prefer Funkadelic. This one's just alright for me.

funky gsi. vibe technisch nice aber keis lied het mi jez wegblose so

Funky fun and a party on record. Would be a great live experience, but as a studio recording it can get a bit repetitive.

Pretty funky!

Fun, 3.5

Good, but gets a little old after a while

I didn't make it last the first song 😅 Maybe I wasn't in the mood for it. The spoken word stuff was cool at first but I got bored of it after a while. I do think it would be more fun live, they would probably just jam forever.

This is the album for you if you gotta have the funk but idk if I personally ever need the funk

seemed funky I guess. I listened to this while doing something else, so in not giving it my full attention, I have no thoughts.

Not my style

Give Up the Funk is an all time classic, but the rest of the album wasn't the MOST engaging for me. I was still boppin' along tho.

This entire album felt like one long intro a song that never actually started. I was on the edge of my seat ready for them to start actually playing but it never really came. I'm impressed with some of the riffs and some of the sounds they were able to achieve, but the actual writing left a lot to be desired.

Nice, groovy. A couple of special songs, but overall, not too impressionable on me.

I like Parliament and Funkadelic a lot, and enjoyed this, but I think on balance I come down a little bit more on the Funkadelic side. This isn't as life-changing as Maggot Brain.

I did not use a private session on Spotify for this one. I have actually seen Parliament in concert, fun! This album is fun and obviously had a huge influence on a lot of artists.

I liked it less than I thought I did

Turns out I don't like this as much as Funkadelic. Still fine, but not hitting me as hard as the other options. Not much to say really, sorry!

Funky go time

Tasty but a little same-y.

Wouldn't listen again, now I understand what the word funky means. That said wasn't bad. No songs saved

I'm back for good now. This album was a good surprise. I have, however, listened to better funk albums before. The intro of "P-Funk" hyped me up. Can't believe I've been reviewing albums for a whole year now. 3 stars for "Mothership Connection".

Fun! Good start. Length is just right. Got repetitive after a while but still a good time. Those trumpet solos 😮‍💨

This album is good, but the Live: P-Funk Earth Tour album that came out of this material is the real must-listen Parliament record. The beat on the studio version gets monotonous, but with an entire 1977 LA Forum stomping along, it reaches the cosmic.

it was ok. the interludes were too cute

This was actually fun(ky). I'm not that much into funk, but you can hear the fun the musicians had recording this album, and it gets you.

Boring, not my music

Surprisingly fun listen

Did I enjoy or this or have I just have a bad run of albums recently? I may never know.

Cool sound.

3.4 2x funky catch up 3/14/25

Funk me

The band has already made each and every funk-pun I could come up with themselves, so I am left with nothing but the funk. 3.5/5

I know I should love this, but I just like it. Sometimes a bit dull.

Funky album, too short. 3/5

saxophone

Good vibes

Auch ganz nett ;)

Once again, a totally unknown band for me. I like the funky sound so I enjoyed the whole album. Nice beat, nice arrangements.

The grand daddy of funk albums. These are not so much songs as they are recorded party’s. They just let go and caught it on vinyl. The influence this band had on others is immense. Fun stuff.

This album was the business when I was in high school, lots of the band kids were all about it and I heard it a lot. Nobody could play like Bootsy. I reckon that's still true today. :)

funktastic

Funk foundation! I love the lackadaisical friends-hanging-pit vibe and the iconic "We Want the Funk" was asked for and delivered. Some of the sounds just sounded like farts, but props to them for experimenting.

Interesting, a future album from the past

tripposo

Way more funk than the Funkadelic album we had before. Interesting how much this influenced future gangsta rap - I recognized a few backing tracks just from that. In the end this album is still a little too jammy for me, but I recognize this is probably peak for the genre.

AKA: The 1990s Death Row Records Sample Library. Almost gets into 4 territory because when the songs land, they really land. But, a lot of it was a little more formless, even if the energy persists.

I like the otherworldly aesthetics and it certainly sounds like it too. Great fat bass tone & soulful vocals. Standout track is: “Handcuffs”

Really amazing

Funktastic

Listening to this and this is pure grooves. The fourth track, "Supergroovalisticprosifunkstication" is the first track where I got hooked. The synthesizer being such a prominent instrument losing it's mind as the bass lays the foundation has now been engrained into my brain chemistry. As I keep listening I keep having the same thought, "Is funk just another iteration of jazz?" Grooves will come in and out, but there will always be a foundation groove to hold onto. As I near the end of this album, I see why it was included in this list. A lot of artists that came after this either interpolated, sampled, or found inspiration from Parliament and Funkadelic. Would I listen to this album again? Probably not, but the roots that this album planted are everywhere.

Ah, the Give Up the Funk is from this album, which is classic banger.

maybe i'm just not as cut out for funk as i thought i was.

I like funk. I like funk like I like jazz. And jazz is a huge spanning genre with a large number of artists. Funk is shorter, not as often used now, but it also had enough players in the game where I thought this was ... well, maybe I should think of reggae. It had a smaller hay-day and some people shined and others were in the crowd. I see this band as in that crowd, just over there, but not quite at the head table. Maybe they are supposed to be? I don't know from history. But as far as funk goes. Yeah, it is OK.

Classic 1975 funk. A little out there, but good for a bop around the kitchen.

It was indeed funkalishous, although lacking in lyrical substance

His name is George! George Clinton! And he's got 38 degrees in fuckin!

They are in fact funky. In case you didn’t hear the puns. It’s fun it sounds like they’re just jamming and having a great time. But after about 15 minutes of that I need a little more structure. Yes I’m white, maybe I’m not at funky as I want to be, but this funk is just a little too unstructured for me to stay engaged with. I like my George Clinton with just a tad less PCP.

I imagine if I liked the genre this would be quite good but just not my thing

Banger!

Stark 3a. Sparar 4 för album som har fler bangers.

I think this album is more technically and musically impressive than I actually enjoy it. While I like the concept of funk, sometimes I think bands can struggle with creating enough variety or dynamics on a whole album to make it not sound essentially the same from beginning to end.

Wild! "Ain't nuthin' but a party y'all! The Mothership Connection gettin' down in 3-D! That's right, Put a glide in your stride and a dip in your hip And come on up to the Mothership ... " Also, TIL Dre's 'Let Me Ride," was mostly another ripoff. Chalk that up to another another reason to hate the Chronic.

No Funkadelic, but still plenty of funk.

I feel funked up.

I noticed several Dr. Dre and Snoopdog samples in this album. It was a nice funky Sunday morning.

Songs long for my liking, knew one song already fun and funky but not my thing!

Makes me want to put on sunglasses and spaz out on a keyboard in front of those Fifth Element aliens

This was, for the most part, a fun listen and straight funk from start to finish.

the origin of Mothership Reconnection

nice to listen to but not something i’d put on myself 3/5

I prefer this to most any other funk from that era, but it’s not always my cup of tea. I’d certainly put this on at a party, but I likely won’t come back to it.

Фанк

this album was pretty fun to listen to. I really enjoyed it because i just dig funk in general. this to me is something easy to throw on in the background and just listen to while doing chores, getting ready for sexy time, or walking down the street. a bit repetitive, and the lyrics aren't anything crazy, but i could listen to this groove for hours.

This deserves at least 3 stars. Crazy how much west coast hip hop in the 90’s was influenced by this album. Awesome.

So damn funky that you forget that the lyrics in funk music are almost always repeated. Give Up The Funk is a classic and was fun to jam out to for a minute. A good album but I don’t know if I’d rate it this high at a double album length.

Funk yeah. You better be prepared to listen to the Funk, the the whole Funk, and nothing but the Funk.

Very loose and repetitive (sometimes to a ponderous and/or messy degree). Touchstone for 90s hip hop (musically and lyrically). Highlights: "Mothership Connection (Star Child)" (nice horn riffs), "Handcuffs" (James Brown/Sly & the Family Stone vibes) Notable: "P-Funk (Wants to Get Funked Up)" (Snoop took the radio motif on Doggystyle from this. Dre bookended The Chronic with a takeoff of this.)

This is the one with "Give Up the Funk". If you've heard that song, expect more of that. George Clinton and his merry band of misfits indoctrinate you into their funky world for 38 minutes. You will want to listen to the album twice because it is very fun, but it almost feels short. The instrumentation is lush and there's so much experimentation that it makes me a little giddy. At times, however, the album can feel a little one-note, but it's easy to see how important this particular work is on the genre and would become to hip-hop decades later. I'm not super into funk, so I can't rate it higher, personally, but it absolutely deserves to be on this list.

This is #day140 of my #1001albumsyoumusthearbeforeyoudie challenge, and... what the funk? It's all about jamming and jiving here. Cosmic, groovy, and jazzy. What else to add? I'm giving this album a 3 out of 5, though, as I'm not sure I'll be coming back to it soon. Looking forward to #day141.

George Clinton's Opus - great bass lines and a clever lyrical theme throughout

Some classic beats here but I didn't thrive with it

Nice and funky, but not particularly substantial. I enjoy the groove, but there's not much beyond that.

A lot of g funk rappers sampled this album and others from parliament funkadelic and associates. It was cool to hear the source and the music is very entertaining and enjoyable. I like funk music so that helps. The strings are very great (sucker for r&b and dance strings). If there’s anything negative it’s that the songs are too long for what they are. Best song: give up the funk

It was ok. Sounded the same throughout the album and some songs were just way too long. Give up the Funk clearly best song and most known.

Very funky. Not really my preferred cup of tea but it was okay. Nice background music. Very weird band and weird sound.

funk is not really my thing. this was ok background music on a Monday

Not my thing but pleasant enough

An aggressively funky album, to the point where I got listening fatigue towards the end. I’m too weak for the funk I guess.

My funk tanks are overflowing.

-wow it’s so… funky… -I was unfamiliar with Parliament’s non-Funkadelic work, but I think I like it. It’s an insane fuckin vibe and accomplishes its goal of making me feel like I’m riding on a spaceship in the 70s. Maybe a little bit same at parts but what more could I ask for -Favorites are Unfunky UFO, Handcuffs, and Give Up The Funk

very funky not my personal favorite genre of music something to listen to in the background

Listening to Parliament brings up fond memories of my ‘20s. I had the chance to see the P-Funk All-Stars at the Fillmore and it was an insane show in which after the management cut the lights and electric the band kept going until security physically pushed George Clinton off the stage. I still have a love of funk but I have to admit that I am a different person and place. This album is a classic, taking the funk genre started by the JB’s and moving forward (rumor is fueled on a lot of cocaine). Night of the Thumpasorus and Handcuffs were my key tracks, especially Bootsy Collins wahwah bass. Always a pleasurable flashback.

não sei, não é muito o estilo de música que eu gosto mas eu gostei do conceito do álbum.

Funk, bonne ambiance mais ça ne fait pas vibrer

I’m sure I’d enjoy this if I were in the mood, but unfortunately the mood didn’t strike

I bet this was INCREDIBLE to experience live. As it is, glad I heard it, but didn't change my life either.

though the funk is funky, it's too much funk for me

I do, in fact, want the funk. But not always. It's fun music, but I don't crave it very often. 3.5*, maybe 4 if I'm feeling particularly funky.

It was....Funky...and a good listen, but I cant see myself searching it out again

Good funk

Not for me.

Dig the funk

Good album, ain’t going out of my way to listen to it.

“We want the funk”

Funk album

Without this album the world wouldn't have a ton of hip hop. Tracks I enjoyed: "Give up the Funk (Tear the Roof Off the Sucker)" and "Night of the Thumpasorus Peoples".

A hit or two

Lowkey fire, could have crazy samples for sure, funky, songs are to long. I wouldn't just turn it on

Solid album.

funky but not funkadelic

Great party listen.

I know my dad loves this album. Never really got into funk but I actually recognized one of these songs from Always Sunny of All Places. It was alright but I don't see myself revisiting this any time soon. 6/10

This was ok, but the last song just sounded farts

Nice funky vibes, but not really that interesting to listen to.

good background, funk music

I like funk and this was good but it didn’t hit me in the soul like I want from funk. Well produced but felt a little heartless which was sad for me

Lot of cool riffs, thick bouncy bass and more funk than you can handle. Songs often drag for too long than they probably needed to. Funk might be the most aptly named genre though....

Yeah this slaps, but funk is not really a genre I'd sit and listen to a whole album of, if I'm looking for this sound, I'm gonna stick on funkadelic's 'maggot brain' everyday over this. Still good though, got me boppin'.

Þetta er alveg smooth, en ég var ekki í stuði fyrir þetta. Of mikið spjall og áreiti!

Känns som definitionen av "funk". Väldigt goa rytmer och skön musik. Dock för mycket prat för min del. Hade nog hellre haft jazzmusiken/funkmusiken utan pratat (eller med sång).

bom legal de ouvir

It was okay. Good funk album, and that is really all i can say about it.

Disco stu miau

Funky. Probably great for the time but sounds a bit so so now

Very funky, cool record

The Good: FUNK The Bad: FUNK The Ugly: FUNK As Flea from the RHCP stated that when you combine fucking with fun you get FUNK... well, after 1 1/2 songs I was done fucking. Yes, the album has great merit, and the groove is tighter than a virgins clam... but damnit, it's soooooooo repetitive that you just want to start hitting the skip button after 2 minutes instead of sitting out another 6-minute ode to the funk. 3* as I am note stupid

A great funk album, if that's what you're looking for!

I don’t know much about funk music, but this sounds prototypical to me. But it didn't really pick me up. Maybe I'll have to listen to it again sometime.

Amazing album. My first funk album tbh it was pretty good

It feels a bit unfair to drop this badboy right after Stevie Wonder as it was never going to match up, but hey, I'm on a funk kick, why not extend the grooves. Enjoyed the vibes and had a good time with this on the rotation for a few days.

Rick James again? One too many on this list. He’s good, their stuff is funky, but the songs average about 3 minutes too long. Hard to dance too, but great if you’re trippin. This one has its moments, but gets a bit boring after a while.

Pretty ok.

quite funky i liked it 3/5

Sehr funkig.

Not for me, but this album does feature that famous We Want The Funk song.

Decent. Probably paved the way for some other artists. But not for me

I've really enjoyed both Funkadelic albums I've heard so far, so I was looking forward to this one. Sadly, it was just okay. These songs aren't bad, they're just not super interesting, and most of them are way too long. It quickly becomes monotonous, and even though the album is only 38 minutes long it really drags. There's not enough variation, and some of the clavinet-heavy songs sound like Stevie Wonder outtakes that never made it to an album. Give Up the Funk is the only song I knew going into this album, and it's the highlight. Everything else is just ... fine. Funkadelic > Parliament 3/5

I doubt I'd ever come back to this but it was a FUN-ky listen.

Funky Pop.

Amazing groove. Fun.

Me when I’m in a sudden clashing synth sound competition and my opponent is a large ensemble band from the 70s:

Cool Funk

Like the funk factor in this album.

Ultimate demonstration of funk

Super groovy and pretty fun but I doubt I’ll return.

This was not for me but it’s hard to hate on. These guys just seem to be having too much fun.

The album feels in between with lots of verbals, not fully energetic but upbeat. The songs are rather lengthy. It is more like an enforced happy hour by yourself all alone on a Friday afternoon in your own office maybe a glass of spirit as well.

Probably will need to listen to it for a second time to really appreciate the music. So giving it expected 3 stars.

George is cool, but damn this is repetitive.

Maybe it's that everything is on fire all the time, maybe it's more bad experiences with west coast hippies (funk concept album about outer space? white guy is it for me meme), maybe it's that I'm not fun, couldn't get that into this one. I tried turning it up louder. It sounds like it should be a lot of fun if you're receptive to it. ★ ★ ★ Here's my review of Harvest from yesterday, which was SABOTAGED. I can't imagine what I ever could have done to provoke such an act. It's Harvest. The folk rock band is the best folk rock band sound you'll ever hear. Then they do a couple rock songs with one of the best rock band sounds you'll ever hear. (For some reason there's also A Man Needs a Maid. There's A World at least fits in with the album alright.) The album cover is beautiful. Neil does the Neil Young thing with some pretty dumb lyrics that just float on by, and then all of a sudden there's something quite moving. "Did she wake you up to tell you that it's only a change of plans" over pedal steel is incredible, enough to make you ignore "dream up dream up let me fill your cup with the promise of a man" right after. The downside to hearing Harvest early in life is thinking other 70s folk rock might be near this good, big setup for disappointment there. Spotify sucks. Quit giving your money to vampires for a little bit of convenience. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Funky ... mejor de lo que pensaba.

Pretty good album to be honest. I probably won't listen to it again, however, I liked the vibes. The whole album reminded me of 'The Revolution Will Not Be Televised' which is a great 'song'?. It was a generally happy and fun sort of album, not really my cup of tea but also really not a bad listen.

I thought I would like this more than I did. I like the music and the vibe for the most part, but I wasn't as tuned into it as I thought I might be. It feels somewhat repetitive at times. Overall though I had a pretty good time. 3.5 rounded down.

Honestly not really something I would listen to but its still a good album and its vibey ngl so I will hundred percent listen to some of the tracks on it

maybe it's because i listened back to back with the last album but this was a bit of a nothingburger

Definitely funky and creative, I enjoyed it but not enough to rank it higher.

This is a really fun and creative funk record, and while I know I gave it 3 stars, it was bridging the line between that and 4. I ultimately decided to give it a 3 because it’s not as captivating, relistneable, or…well…funky as other funk albums I love. Still, I’m very glad I heard it. George Clinton’s awesome

Итс окэй. Лучшая песня - Give Up the Funk (Tear the Roof Off the Sucker).

Easy to listen to, easy to dance to, played well, recorded well, but not memorable. Favorite song: give up the funk

1975 - unglaublich wie wegweisend!!

Got to have that p funk.

fun :)

Chill funk, not really my style but has a good rhythm! Was a little one dimensional though - all of the songs mostly sounded the same.

enjoyed this, wouldn't normally listen to it personally but it was funky as hell and great to have on in the background, how can you not smile while this sort of thing is on?

Funky ... mejor de lo que pensaba.

fun funk, but i did get bored halfway through listening to it. i found p-funk wants to get funked up more annoying than enjoyable because of the lyrics, but the rest of side a was pretty enjoyable. i didnt enjoy side b though. even the highlight of side b, give up the funk, was just ok to me. maybe im just soulless idk i didnt like how repetitive the lyrics were. it was tolerable and enjoyable at times but i wouldnt listen to again. 3 personal favs: unfunky ufo

Clearly a talented group. When they say funky, they really mean it. Sometimes the experimental stuff doesn't quite work, but still a fun album.

Maybe a little too much funk?

I confused parliament and pavement and I was a bit confused when I started listening. I think I am just a complete idiot. album was fun, dont think ill revisit tho

It's a good time. Worth a listen and gets. good reaction when you put it on after midnight when everyone's had a couple of drinks.

Well, when I listen to it long enough, all I want is to stop it.

Fine but less interesting than I was expecting

Some songs I’d give a 4 but not the whole album.

Carino ma i brani da 8 minuti (quindi il 90%) me lo hanno fatto scendere un po’

I felt like I was listening to the Ladies Man playing music. I did enjoy.

Sure.. I like blues/jam music. But this was a litter to silly for my liking.

The instrumentation was cool and funk will always have a nostalgic place in my heart. I also am biased because anything space/intergalactic theme will have me hooked. Other than that, the lyrics and everything else were pretty mid for me.

Really digging this first song! I love the Chocolate Milky Way. Love the sax. Love the uncut funk! Second song is not quite as good, but still fun. Kinda repetitive. Some interesting instrumentation in the fourth song. Handcuffs is a hot song! Nevermind - Do not like the barefoot and pregnant lyric. :( Kinda yucky! Was going to add it to my liked songs, but the song got progressively creepier. Oh I actually know this song (Give Up the Funk)! This last song kind of sounds like a fart LOL.

The funk is heavy with this one as it should be. But I'll be honest and say the talking kind of makes me not want to listen again. We want the funk though! The music itself is good but all the concept album story setup is kind of overkill for me.

Nice little Funk album.

Some fabulous grooves. Favourite tracks: P-funk, Supergroova... And the very suspect Handcuffs.

Good but songs drag on 3.5

Fun funk but gets very repetitive

I'm not huge on pure funk music, but of course this is one of the best of the genre

A funk staple. It's a shame the lyrics for "Handcuffs" are so off. "Unfunky UFO" and "Give Up The Funk" are solid tho.

Funnnnnnnky fresh

schön funky

Very cool. Great album concept, amazing instrumentals! The vocals and spoken word parts don't do anything for me, so I won't be saving it.

Some good jams

Some very cool tracks

Super fun at first, but as it went along it felt like they ran out of tricks

Silly but great grooves

Overall I enjoyed but the songs get very long where I’m ready for something new. But “we want the funk” will always be a banger.

Nice old funk. Enjoyed it.

Was different from my style of music. Enjoyable though. Will have to listen a few times

3.6 Should be a 4. Bootsy is literally from outerspace

The only thing I know of these guys is 'Give Up the Funk,' which is a fun song. The rest of this album is fun, something I'll probably revisit, but not my favorite. 3/5

I want to like funk - but it’s just not my thing! Still, this was pretty fun and I found a few bits that had my toes tapping. Musicians were great but probably won’t get a relisten from me.

This An enjoyable funky album

This is probably better suited for an ambient speaker system than in ear headphones. Layers upon layers here, and so many call forwards to hip hop songs that became part of the modern vernacular.

perfect for the joyous “just finished exams” shower i was enjoying. so fun.

I was really hoping that this would be more fun to listen to on 4/20 than it was. Felt like late stage funk meaning it was just less fun than the Isaac Hayes funkadelic golden age for some reason. P-funk and we want the funk were both good and it was listenable overall, it just didn’t have the juice that my favorite funk albums have.

Very funky, a few stand out tracks and very listenable.

Good, solid album

Made false claims that they can cure my migraines 0/10 I don't know why but the tone of funk baselines makes me feel really unwell which is sad cause I quite like the songs Also all the songs are far too long Eh I didn't enjoy it very much

I enjoyed this more than the recent Funkadelics album, but still felt repetitive and too long overall.

First two tracks were class. Super funky. Loved the surprise Let Me Ride by Dre sample in track 2. Sadly it tailed off a bit after that. Track 3 good but 4-7 really dropped in stature. Will throw those first two into my rotation list though for sure. Good vibes.

3.75 1. L (low/male) / R (high/female) BGV really dope! 2. Piano panned slightly R; Beautifully balanced tension - Not quite a resolve... Not needed 3. Unfunky UFO Kick Drum FUCKS. Wide and Woody-sounding 4. Handcuffs vocal performance is ridiculously dynamic 5. Handcuffs snare transient sounds fragile and rubbery in the most pleasant way 6. Thumpasaurus synth is .... wet (resonant)

I'm always up for some funk music, but this was a little disappointing. The songs don't really get going for me. Decent, but I expected more.

Some good grooves but lacking focus and with too much talking.

Funky with some great musicianship at times. A bit too far out

Funkaliscious

handcuffs does NOT age well, but tear of the roof will literally never get old.

We want the funk!

This music absolutely funks

I caught the vibe but it didn't take me anywhere. Kinda sad The cute phrase of sax that kept playing in the first song is so beautiful

Funky :D

A ton of fun! I could do without the five minute fart song, tho!

Super groovy

Was alright

Always enjoyed this sound

Funky as fuck! George Clinton and his crew absolutely bring the funk and honestly if this doesn’t get you shaking that moneymaker what the hell is wrong with you? One of the best thing to come out of the 1970s is funks explosion into the mainstream. This is a prime example of it at its best.

Yeah. I like the funk. And this one gives it up! Much better than the previous album, which I won't name.

Definitely a lot of fun. High energy, outlandish funk. I feel like a lot of this is sampled in more modern rap, but its great to hear it in its original context. Give Up the Funk is clearly the star, but I enjoyed Unfunky UFO and Handcuffs as well. Supergroovalistic has the entire kitchen sink of layers and sounds... it is crazy how much is going on in the background. Nice surprise.

THAT - was a party!

Nice listen, quick album, will probably never listen to again

More of a Funkadelic fan myself. Maybe this isn’t the greatest album in itself, starts strongly but the later tracks are forgettable. You have to view the ParliaFunkadelicMent things as one big rambling project which gave birth to the greatest sample bank of all time. That said you certainly must endeavour to put a glide in your stride and a dip in your hip and head on over to the mothership.

Mellow funk, totally listenable. Make my funk the p-funk.
