I listened before bed and didn't really care for it. Too much bass. But I listened again (and on a different speaker system) and liked it more. Gonna try it the next time I drive somewhere

I don't understand the Radiohead love to be honest.
Aptly named album
This made me anxious so I stopped listening.
No.

So great
I dig it. Funky guitar jams
Also the sound of the drum machine is super irritating. A very tinny drum machine. Iberian girl? WTF is this song! In general: so many added noises it's almost chaotic. And how many times is he gonna do that high pitched squeak noise? The ones I know from the 80s radio of my past are tolerable.
I mean. It's jazz. Technically accomplished jazz. But not my thing. These reviews are for me, not for others. And aren't even really reviews. Oh well
Very good but repetitive to me after a while. But funky and cool
A tad much for me sometimes (the "noise") but fucking awesome. Love it.
Fucking great
Well. I enjoyed the peppy beat. I couldn't understand a lot of the words, but some I sure did (jailbait!). Not terrible to listen to though. I never need to again, but I didn't hate it.
Yeah yeah gimme some talking heads! Liked it a lot!
I have never heard any of this before and that's a fucking shame because this was so great. Fucking great. Why didn't I listen to this in my youth? Reevaluating my life. Wtf. Sigh. Tho---at least I've got it now, at 52. Never too late!!
I liked the peppy stuff. Not so much the slow stuff.
Nice! Great album.
Need to listen to the whole thing later
Um. No. He sounds a bit like Neil Diamond. He's too dramatic and grandiose. Showtune-esque.
4.5 even if Bono is a narcissist.
Like okay. Nick cave is supposed to be great and I guess I kind of like him but two whole albums is just too much Nick Cave at once for me. Plus one star for being profoundly weird but minus a star for possibly being pompous.
The Clash slaps!!!! I love it
Spotify doesn't have the whole album so maybe this isn't fair but it's good for what it is I guess. The screaming on one track was a bit much....
Totally weird. And totally awesome. I'm not sure how this works exactly but it does. Love it. ROCK LOBSTA!
Classic. Sometimes weird. I dig it.
Too much pop.
I didn't like it as much as the last steely Dan album I had. This one has less funky guitar and more annoying keyboard.
I want to like it but me and Joni's voice just do not like one another. The higher pitches...eek no. Also lol; I want to shampoo you. Wtf
Not sure I'm on the radiohead bandwagon. This album is kind of creepy. I listened to it easily enough but I don't want to listen to it again really. All I felt was creepy. That's not an emotion I really want from my music.
Never heard this before and maybe never even any of these songs. He's a legend but I can't really tell why from this album.
Not bad. Less heavy guitar screech than others of this ilk. Good roadtrip company.
Never heard this before. Liked it!
I listened to it all and hated every bit. Why is this man considered great? If it's the lyrics, I can't even understand half of them. Musicianship is solid, but doesn't make up for the rest. Or is he a vampire who has hypnotized people into thinking his music is good?
This is only my 30th album and yet this is the 3rd time I've gotten Steely Dan... A solid album. Knew about half the songs. 3.5
Lovely but kinda boring. Inoffensive? Couldn't hear lyrics well. Never heard of this guy before.
OMG! OMD! Great yet sometimes boring. So..a 4
Yay Dolly!
Never heard of this before! Crab rave! Goes on too long but good.
Too long but better than I thought it would be when I learned what it was.
So much MEH. Btw yesterday I was confused and reviewed the album from the day before again. The punk one was ok. I wasn't quite in a punk mood
I've already had this album before I was in the group. I'm not listening to this s*** again. The radio hits are nostalgic but otherwise I had a hard time listening. So many extra "noises" and MJs little squeak noise, and all together too much pop music. And the fake drums are too tinny. Also: Wtf is up with Liberian Girl?
I listened before bed and didn't really care for it. Too much bass. But I listened again (and on a different speaker system) and liked it more. Gonna try it the next time I drive somewhere
I like the fast pace. Everything else can suck it. Not my style. Instinct said to give it a 1 but the speed/skill of the drums and guitars deserves something.
3 stars
It's Soundgarden. 2-3
Experimental and probably very accomplished. But not at all my thing. I had to fast forward some songs.
Not my favorite Beck. By far. 2.5
Idk. Didn't do anything for me but wasn't bad either
Brb. I need a shower.
Why is this 2 1/2 hours long? DNF due to length. Damn. I didn't hate it but didn't live it either. 2.5
Boring
I liked it and took me back to being a very small child
Joplin! Good times. Fun album cover too
Nothing wrong with it but not very gripping either.
I absolutely didn't need to hear this album before I died. And I feel like lounge singer was already covered by previous generations.
I tried. I was determined to listen to them all and see if there was even a single good song, but then I got messed up where I was on the playlist in Spotify and I stopped. Most of them are boring, some of them are awful, and some are fine but not good. I heard at least half of them.
Funky! But gets old after a while.
Yeah!
So prior to listening to these albums I thought I liked the pixies a lot more than I did for this album and the other album I listened to already. Hmmm
I remember liking the smooth operator song back in the day, and remember the video well, but listening to the whole album it really sounds the same after a bit. Extra point cuz she's cool
I like this a lot more than I thought I would. Best electronica album I probably ever listened to. Wunderbar!
Really starts to sound the same after a while
Enjoyable and forgettable at the same time
Teenage memories
Wow, short! Very good. I liked it.
It was fine until it was over 2 hours long and then I knew I couldn't take it so it's only a two
Nice.
Of course it's extremely excellent playing by an extremely talented person. Just not the kind of album I am going to revisit.
Fun! Some questionable lyrics though haha
Enjoyed listening
Holy saxophone baby!
So forgettable
The best Xmas album by far. Phil can suck it though. What an awful human. So 5 stars but I'm ignoring PS and the final track lol
Big time '80s teenage nostalgia
Waffling on the rating for this one because I liked it but actually it's kind of forgettable so let's go 3.5 and I'm going to score it for on the stars because why not?
Love the funk
Started out okay and then after a while I just couldn't stand him anymore
Hmm....
Solomon Burke is a cool dude and I like these tunes
Yeah, no
80s Nostalgia, probably. 😄
Decent, enjoyable, yet forgettable (I actually knew some of these songs but I could never have thought of them just on their own)
Not really my thing but okay
A bit nostalgic for me, but also too much pop. And a few of the songs are just bad like Dear Jesse, Pray for Spanish Eyes, and Act of Contrition.
Ok.
Not as bad as I thought it would be based on the album art and a vague memory of screaming trees from the past.
Good!
Not quite the Bee gees I was expecting. Decent
Great!
Ok until "don't" Also boring
Gets a little long but otherwise great
Not sure I can write a review because this album made me so sleepy
Many of the songs sound the same. Not going to lie
Ok
Never heard of this one before. Totally listenable but not something I'd come back to.
I have two extremely early memories of music and I'm not exactly sure which came. First one was that I absolutely adored captain and tennille and had their poster on my wall. The other is Simon & Garfunkel and specifically the song Cecilia which isn't on this album. But I have loved Simon & Garfunkel my entire life and this album is perfection.
Good
This album and artist reminds me of a horrible boss I had at the time this came out. She absolutely loved it and I can't stand it, but I recognize it's mostly because of the b**** Lynette. But also it has a kind of affectation that I don't like. The same as Lynette I guess. Dang, I can't even get through the album and I'm normally down for a good rant.
Pretty good and super boring at the same time
Meh
Kinda eew. Like it doesn't make my ears bleed but it doesn't do anything good either.
Never heard of it before. It was fine
Sometimes fun and sometimes annoying
Good to very good
I really like this!
Lots of good songs!
Great but also dated/not timeless. A few songs are kind of whiney sounding.
Ooh! An old one...
I'm excited for an album called back at the Chicken shack!
I liked the explain how it's different from western music
Meh
Groovy
His voice is whiny
Not really my style but it wasn't bad
Is this never ending?
Great! So much energy. Good vibes.
Started out fine and then got super annoying. Like listening to WGMO, or Eric's music...
Solid
I think this works better as an album than when I hear individual songs out in the world. I'm not exactly on the Fleetwood Mac bandwagon, but I can see why people love this album.
Not bad. Who knew?
Good energy
Peak teenage MTV
I bleed...
So boring
So boring
If it's just on in the background, it's kind of MEH. But if you actually sit and carefully listen, some of these songs are really beautiful. I.e. unchained melody. Maybe going to look for a cover that doesn't have his voice. Though I guess Willie is also covering it...
So much twang. I think maybe I'd kind of like it if that guy's voice weren't so whiny.
It was fun until it was too much
Snoozefest
I swear we've already listened to this. It's just as boring as the other album.
After a while there's just too much yelping
Liked it a lot and would give it a five but the dated lyrics took it down one for making it sometimes hard to enjoy.
When I had a walkman I had this on tape and listened to it a lot
Not my jam
2.5
This is not the album of theirs that Eric played over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. 3.5
Soooo 80s, in a good way. But kind of one-note.
I'm not big on jazz but this is the best one I've come across on this list.
Not bad but my gen z child called it "elevator music" 🤣
I liked it a lot!
Never heard of this before. Not too bad. Not too good 2.5
Ugh terrible
Meh
I don't understand the love for this artist
It gets old after a while
'80s goodness and I still really like it
Great!!
Great!
A great album. The Best of the led Zeppelin albums. 4.5
Great but too ragey after a while lol
I loved this. Wish I knew what he was singing about. 4.5
If it weren't screechy, it'd be better
I really liked this a lot. Like it was great. Yes I was surprised. 4.5
I knew some of these songs but I never knew they were by an artist called fatboy slim though I did know the name fatboy slim. Huh! 2.5
Love the talking heads
I liked the chill vibe but I would never listen to this again. But I wouldn't hate it if I heard a song from it.
Thought it would be worse, lol.
Good!
I actually totally dig this old stuff.
I enjoy it while I'm listening to it like it's a four-star album, but then I can't remember any of it later.
Was going to rated a 3 but it just keeps going on and on and on and on so...2
Sounds like something from the '60s
2.5
I dug it. This would have been totally awesome live.
Ridiculous and silly and a ton of fun. I loved it. On another day it might not have hit the same, but today it just hit right even though some of the lyrics are really stupid. Probably really a four but I'm reading it at five so that I see it on my list of fives. So don't forget about it the next time. I need some silly fun on a road trip.
80s memories...
I liked this a lot. 4.5
Love this album. 4.5. Reminds me of dad/childhood.
I just don't get it
2.5
I don't understand the Radiohead love to be honest.
Honestly thought it would be worse
2.5. For what it is (not my style) It isn't bad
I'm sure it's very accomplished in its genre, but I just do not give a s*** right now.
Between the quality of his voice and they screeching of that harmonica I couldn't even listen to this to try to figure out why people like Bob Dylan
I've heard of her before but not sure. I ever really listened to anything that wasn't a song on the radio. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would but like I don't need to hear it ever again.
The Beatles sound kind of whiny but I still have to give this a five
Higher register voices get to me after while I think I like this music better as singles
Mellow
The song with the half Spanish lyric is great and otherwise it's kind of meh
Eek. Awful
I've already had this??? Confused. It's in my history...
I can't remember and I just listened to it yesterday...
F-ing great
Way better than I expected. Or hoped, honestly. Haha. 3.5
I dig
Not my jam but inoffensive
Not my jam but not bad at all
Frank's a vibe
Funky
Guess I'm not the Brian Eno market
I dig it!
Heck yeah
Very early childhood memories.
Very good!
Interesting!
I really liked it and then it all became the same so I took it from a 4 to 3.
Boring
This was a lot.
The heavy guitar jams got old but I liked the other stuff.
Boring yet inoffensive
3.5
More British drivel
Heroes is an awesome song, but there's some losers on this album to be honest. 2.5
This album is lovely. It's not my usual genre but I really enjoyed having it on. What the heck? I'm giving it a 5.
Listen to this made me feel anxious. Clearly not the right headspace for me for this album on this day.
I appreciate the skill of the musicians and kind of actually dig the metal music, but I just can't with this type of singing.
I have never heard of this before but I really liked it
Bo-ring
3.5
Surprised I like this quite a bit
Probably an extra point for '80s teen nostalgia
2-3
Good road trip music!
Many of the songs need to be shortened. Haha
Uff da
Best album I've gotten on here yet.
This was a hard one for me because if you took out the screechy noise I would have loved this album
I just have a hard time with her voice. Not for me.
No.
Not for me
So screechy
I like it!
Listenable only if you don't hear the lyrics.
First song awful but 3 after that
Not as "not for me" as I thought it would be based on the band name. Ha.
I love it. Of it's time and yet not dated, somehow.
No.
Chill. Good while working.
It was probably better to be there.
Maybe it's better on drugs? Good vibrations is good because I know it. Otherwise it's too much.
Really different than I was expecting and could have been so much worse.
1.5 due to whiny ass voice
Started strong and got worse as it went along. I guess 3 overall.
2.5
Aptly named album
His voice is whiney
Better than the other PJ album them on here
I only knew the one big guy. This was a bit different than I thought it would be. Liked it. 3.5
1.5
Way too much of an decent thing
I don't quite get why live albums are on here
Good!
This made me anxious so I stopped listening.
Neil Young's voice is so annoying. Otherwise solid rock and roll
I wish it weren't entirely ballads/sad "I've been dumped" songs
It's fine I guess 2.5
Pretty good if you don't listen to all the extra stuff
Singer has exactly the type of voice that is like nails on a chalkboard to me.
Wow. Just no.
Complicated to rate this one because I generally dislike live albums and Jerry Lee is a piece of shit. However, his influence is undeniable IMO. My favorite live band is Low Cut Connie and Adam's performance style is directly influenced by JLL. Adam wrote a reflection about JLL when he died, published by Spin. (https://www.spin.com/2022/11/jerry-lee-lewis-tribute/)
I guess I like old country. Who knew?
Much much weirder than I thought it was going to be. Not bad either. Mostly.
Pretty solid 3.5
A couple not great songs brings this down a little. Otherwise I love it.
Her voice. I can't.
The falsetto gets a little annoying after while but I'm still giving it a five.
Oh shoot. Only one song from the album is available on Spotify...
Not for me.
Awesomeness
I'm personally not a fan of jazz but if I had to listen to it this would be all right... For a while.
3.5 Stars. There's definitely better U2 albums.
Inoffensive but not interesting either
Never heard of this before. Decent.
2.5. Boring and lame but not awful.
It's '80s, but boring. (I am generally an '80s fan) 2.5
Inoffensive but non-exciting
Not bad but I got bored
2.5. Totally listenable but I don't ever need to listen to it again.
Very.good
Great!
3.5. Some good oldies.
I like this a lot. Good vibes.
Not my thing. At all.
I dig it.
I love it 4.5
Not a fan of music with screechy screech, dogs barking, and weird noises. Jack White pulls off weird noises. IMO this does not, at all.
A couple I remember from the radio. Listenable but boring.
Not for me.
Overall, I enjoyed it and tried to ignore some of the lyrics
2.5. listenable but I don't need to hear it again
Some songs just go on too long.
Johnny Cash is the man. An interesting listen even though it's live. I'd rather listen to one of his studio works then this again, but I'm still giving it a floor.
No
Surprised the heck outta me. Thought I'd hate it.
Hadn't heard this before. A bit different from other Kings of Leon I'm more familiar with.
Ducky remembered this from the '80s but I didn't. . It was fine
Huh. I didn't mind this and liked a fair bit too.
Good but I need to be in the mood.
I don't need to hear this ever again. Or even really for a first time.
I'm not always in the mood for this, but this album hit just right today.
Good vibes. And I struck up a conversation with the man behind me at the grocery store who asked me what I was listening to and he remembered the Youngbloods from back in the day. Then he told me a story about how he almost took the Dave Clark Five out water skiing on Lake Mendota but had to go to a bugle corps rehearsal instead. Don't worry about the Dave Clark five though...they still got to go water skiing with this man's friend. Anyway, good times.
Repetitive, and not at all was I what I was expecting from the name and album cover and the picture of the artist on Spotify.
3.5
Ok
The misogynist content is so disagreeable that couldn't even think about enjoying anything else. I took the advice of a different review and listened to Masta Ace's album, Take a Look Around. I enjoyed it! (I found it on YouTube.)
Pretty good actually. Huh.
Not bad at all
I'm sure it's really wonderful but it's not for me.
Kind of the same after a while
I'll start to like a song and dig whatever's going on and then it just keeps going on and on and on and on and on and on all the same....
The lead singer's voice is just so....yuck. Yes, I'm aware everyone else likes Radiohead. LOL
I wouldn't say it's really bad but I wouldn't say it's good either.
I love this album!
Teenage kicks! Maybe doesn't quite deserve before but I'm giving it one anyway due to a banger and some weirdness
Fine as background music while I was working... Not much else to say about it. Don't listen too closely to the guy's voice. Lol.
Not as good as the other CCR I had on here
Pretty boring IMO
A few songs I liked quite a bit but I found some others super annoying with overly loud repetitive noises, and overall just too much going on in each one. My brain couldn't figure out what to focus on.
2.5.
Boring
2.5
I quite enjoyed this. First song is a really wonderful love song.
Great!
Good!
Fine but kind of the same.
It's a five for me, dawg
Decent, esp first 2/3rds. 3.5
Great!
When she sings high and loud, her voice is actually painful to me.
I'm not huge on pop but this was fine... Until that cover of American pie. Oof.
Didn't mind listening to this at all. An interesting historical capsule of the western craze of the '50s.
It's weird and I love it. All hail Adam Ant!
This style is not for me.
Dated
Liked it more than I thought I would overall
I can never get past the whiny voice with Radiohead
Very good
Improv jazz makes me anxious.
