Such a 90's sound but all the songs sound the same. Shame if you listen to this rather than The Strokes or even Franz Ferdinand. Though I wonder if FF all sounds the same now too. I bet it might.
Beautiful. I'm sad I put this album for so many years. Go listen to it now.
Maybe the most Boomer band ever, but I neglected them unfairly. This was a super solid record. No other band sounds like CCR, that alone puts them on many lists
Geez, four albums in an we're in a boomer vs boomer influence contest. This is fine, but the Hard To Handle cover seems embarrassing all these years later. If I ask why didn't people just go direct and play the Stone/Zeppelin do I sound too Gen X snarky? Because its fine if I do
OK, this is one more album that I'm glad I had to check out. Bohemian Rhapsody is of course the highlight, but there was a lot to discover. British music hall inspiration, more gay themes, and just a great polish to all the songs. Great to hear these songs in their original album context
Classic junior high school album with junior high school attitude and intellect. Kicked off a great career and there are so many highs in front of these boys.
Excellent intro to Fairport, Richard Thompson & Sandy Denny. You can hear how their influence cascades down the years!
Hmm, I'll have to listen more. Too skronky for now but clearly talented
Classic and will likely always be so-5 stars
A second excellent Chic release. A chill jazz groove after that stellar single and then quiet dance tracks for most of the album.
not for me. Powerful voice used to only do one thing mainly. Couldn't get to the second half. The many singles are well done though
Influential. What a chiming sound she created and used for all her other albums. Matthew Sweet should pay her royalties. Great stuff, brilliant writer
Great tunes from a wanker but he sure can write a title
Amazing. This gave the Ramones their career, so it deserves five stars just for that fact. Beautiful harmonies. No wonder it's lasted
Are they the greatest British band since The Style Council?
Why so many CCR records? Eye roll
Excellent. Must listen more
Less silent than I recall. It would be so cool to hear Miles play with the current crop of people making varied ambient music, esp out of the folk scene
Perfect renditions of classic songs. A record for your entire life
Still more Boomer classics. Pretty harmonies. But pretty boring too. 3 stars, not sure it needs that many
Fine. Why does the book’s author keep picking such early career (& 90s) albums? Gets boring. Three stars
Fine but there better be two more Tribe albums on this list
So many bangers. Knocked one point off because of the laughable Charlie’s Angels plug at the top
I don’t ever need to hear spoon man again
Interesting. Fine. Cool that he worked with David Lynch. But why are there two Barry Adamson albums on this list. Maybe the algorithm doesn’t actually represent the book
Bjork is great obviously. Listening to one-and-a-quarter Sugarcubes albums, I can see why she left after three records. Also, the songs with the guy singing too are pretty crap. Parodies of euro music to come
If you wanted to encapsulate this entire mediocre list into one album, this is it. British, 90s, not actually relevant. Awful cover art to boot. WTF
Good lord TWO Eminem albums. Lame
An early set of classics from the boys
I wonder if Dan Bejar digs Supertramp. Probably.
Now this a worthwhile boomer rock rec. the confidence they had to keep Mrs Robinson and Hazy Shade of Winter for the end of the album!!
Songs were not as long as I assumed from this band of old jammers. Drums good.
Like an even more intentional combination of Springsteen & Destroyer re Poison Season. Plus a little Dire Straights in there
