British Steel
Judas PriestI liked this! It was fun, not too cheesy/corny, with great vocals. Really enjoyable the whole way through.

Definitely a darker, more morose vibe than I would expect from The Beach Boys. I really enjoyed this album.
It was a beautiful day before I turned this dogshit on. Easily the blandest, most inane drivel I’ve ever had the displeasure of listening to. Some of the most shallow, unoriginal lyrics to receive this much acclaim. I think the worst part is some songs have the potential to actually be good, like Elevation, if it wasn’t for Bono wailing like a cat in heat intermittently throughout the song. I seriously do not get the hype.
This album flows so so SO well. Erykah Badu’s voice seems to be polarizing, but I find it suits her neo-soul style and overall vibe very very well. The final track probably could have been cut a bit, but otherwise, a totally gorgeous album. 5/5
Was not expecting to fall in love with this album tbh. I worked at a kind of shitty yacht club during summers whilst in college and Moondance played over the radio literally every single shift I worked, somehow it still retains a soothing quality untouched by food service PTSD. The whole album (minus maybe Everyone) was cohesive without being boring or stale for me. Perfect to listen to to be lulled to sleep (not derogatory)
LOVED the harmonies on this album. Otherwise, sounds like standard laurel canyon-esque folk rock (not a bad thing)
why does the lead vocalist sound on the verge of tears??? I like The Weight but otherwise, meh.
Pretty fun, I liked the beaT(s)
This was a beautiful album, and although I find Leonard Cohen’s voice to definitely be an acquired taste, it suited this album and its mood as a whole perfectly.
Not at all what I would normally listen to, but a great listen nonetheless!
Literally a groundbreaking album, a masterpiece and the foundation of a whole genre. Iconic, 5 stars. RIP Ozzy 🖤
Found it to be a bit pretentious and self indulgent. Obviously taking more risks post-Beatles, but it kind of fell flat for me.
Maybe it’s the nostalgia talking, but this is such a wonderful album. The production is very reminiscent of 2007 but somehow doesn’t sound dated in 2025. Time to Pretend is my favorite track, it just gives such a youthful, exuberant vibe.
I, too, don’t want to know what the rich are doing
Songs were fine, but jfc this was possibly the most disjointed album I’ve ever heard. Finding out they broke up the band a year later was not at all shocking
Would never have listened to this otherwise, super glad I did!
Pretty cool that this was released so early. that being said, this was just ok for me
Very meh. Found the lyrics to be dull and uninspired. Sounds too much like other indie-pop albums from that era but doesn’t really measure up.
I enjoyed this album! Interesting beats and samples, I particularly liked the one of “Les Fleurs” in Thin Line.
Incredibly tedious to get through. Lyrics seemed (to me, at least) surface level and cringy. Not to mention, overall boring as SHIT I already can’t stand U2, so I tried to keep an open mind, but this album encapsulates all the things that irritate me about this band (mostly Bono tbh). They try too hard to sound deep, but it doesn’t seem like they actually know what that entails.
I have heard this before and did not remember liking it as much as I do now! Maybe it grew on me, but either way, it feels ahead of its time in some respects. ETA: the more I listen to this, the more I love it. Bumping this up to 5/5
Sounded like a jam session between friends, which was charming in a way. It was fine, I enjoyed it but didn’t love it
Pretty ahead of its time and pleasant to listen to.
This album showed me that I like hip hop more than I thought I did. I love the creativity in the beats, sampling, etc.
I enjoyed this. I tend to enjoy the type of music where you could tell they were heavily abusing drugs while making it. Overall good sound.

Very good and so influential for so many bands/artists I love. Loses points bc Hong Kong garden aged like milk.
Incredible, a true classic at this point. A literal game changer. Kurt Cobain was the breath of fresh air the rock scene needed in the midst of hair metal hell. True king shit
It’s fun and different, but not something I would particularly gravitate to. I thought some of the songs dragged on a bit too long.
This album was super popular when I was in high school so I associate this heavily with that time. Better than I remember it being. Obviously Adele has an amazing voice, so it’s a very easy listen. Some songs in the middle of the album did kind of blend together for me. Overall, a very good album.
Starts off strong with Immigrant Song, then kind of loses steam right after. Just ok.
Paul Rodgers has a nice voice, and I enjoyed most of the songs on this album. I liked the sultry tones throughout, and it suited the Rodgers’s voice well. A good listen, albeit a bit generic.

I thought this was pretty fun and a bit different as far as typical country music. Might listen to it again in the future.
Psychedelic rock tends to blend together for me, but this is a standout. The harmonies were reminiscent of The Beach Boys, but less cheesy. I’ve only heard Time of the Season prior to this, but I’d definitely listen to this again! Also the lore to this one is crazy

Halloween/video game space music. Songs were not very distinguishable from each other, overall kinda of blah.
First half of the album was full of the hits/bangers. Started to drag a bit for the last few songs. Overall enjoyable and fun.
Pretty hit or miss, some songs I liked a lot, others not so much. Solid 3/5.
My first thought upon seeing this album this morning was “wow, I didn’t realize that Kings of Leon were around as early as 2004!” I quickly learned that there was good reason for that. Not only does the vocalist have an awful, grating voice, it doesn’t even sound like he’s singing in English half the time. Also, while I recognize that it can be hard to write horny music without being completely cringy, this band did NOT stick that landing at all. Yikes
As one who loves a little bit of whimsy, I enjoyed this quite a bit. Brian Wilson talent and dedication to his craft is evident throughout. Just a great work of art.
Good lord his voice is like nails on a chalkboard. I’d really like bob Dylan’s songs if he didn’t insist on singing them.
Sarcastic, irreverent, fun. A pretty good early punk record.
This was clearly a very ambitious project, and pretty ahead of its time when it was released. A little lengthy, but otherwise a good album. Pinball Wizard is obviously a standout.
Janis Joplin had such a unique, electrifying voice, so glad to have gotten this album today. Some absolute classics in here. Easy 5/5 stars.
Lovely sound and lyrics throughout, albeit very short. Bonus points for having a song where they just make fun of bob dylan the entire time lol
Meh. I liked one or two songs but the rest fell kind of flat. Too much repetition on a couple of tracks (sounded like they just needed to fill time) and an incredibly grating voice didn’t help. While I can definitely hear the Nirvana influence, calling this band “the next Nirvana” is suchhhh a reach.
This is the reason why I started this project, because I genuinely had never heard of this before, but this was such a good listen! Most of the songs had a pretty fresh sound (at least for the time I suppose) and everything flowed pretty well. Except for the end of No Way Out, not sure what was going on there…
Enjoyable with one or two standout tracks.
A haunting album dealing with themes of death, grief, and loss. One of the more cohesive albums overall thus far in this project. One I plan to revisit.
Very noisy…not the worst thing I’ve heard but not particularly enjoyable either.
The more I’m subjected to Bob Dylan’s music, the more I dislike it. As much as I try to find the appeal, I simply can’t. His voice is terribly grating and I cannot get past it. His writing/lyricism also has the tendency to be too pretentious.
The first song was pretty good, and then the rest of the tracks started to blend together and the album became kind of boring. I was going to give this a 3 because it was overall easy/pleasant to listen to, but Green Eyes was bafflingly bad and cringy. So now it’s a 2/5.
While the lyrics are interesting (the ones I can understand, anyway) and the actual music is good, I can’t get past how grating and whiny the vocals are. The horns were an interesting touch and it was fun to listen to (for the most part), but I doubt I’ll listen much again.
Electronic music never really resonated much with me. I never really “got” it. That being said, I thought it was cool how tracks got increasingly more intense/up tempo as the album progressed. It was relatively enjoyable to listen to, but ultimately not really my thing.
Cited as one of the best albums of all time for a reason. Never was super into Radiohead but this album is a classic. Incredibly beautiful, haunting, overall amazing music. Paranoid Andriod was a standout for sure.
Meh. Vocals weren’t insufferable, didn’t hate the sounds, but probably won’t listen to again. Little too “pretentious Tisch student” for my liking.
I enjoyed this more than I thought I would! Not a favorite but it was a fun listen.
Kendrick Lamar is an incredible lyricist, and this album may be his magnum opus. The elements of jazz, funk, and soul mixed with contemporary hip-hop/rap are wonderful to listen to. I would recommend this to anyone to listen to at least once for those reasons alone, as well as for the story/narrative told throughout this album.
It’s the white album, obviously I’m giving it a 5/5
I wanted to like this one, because I was excited to listen to something totally new. But it just did not click for me, at ALL. I saw a lot of praise for the lyrics but they fell pretty flat. Both the music and the vocals felt dull and honestly, kind of boring and monotonous. Pretty fitting for the dreary, rainy morning commute though.
Fun, almost reggae/ska vibe? I enjoyed it enough, pretty decent discovery.
A really strong album with some classics and truly wonderful tracks. Paul McCartney’s willingness to take risk and creativity really worked here. Strong 4-4.5
Our House is a decent enough song (only one of theirs I knew prior to today) but not enough to salvage this mess. Goofy ass circus music. Would’ve been a 2 but the brown/black face and fake Indian accent on one of the tracks was atrocious.
Unlike the other two U2 albums I’ve gotten already, there were actually a couple of songs I liked on this one! The first half of the album was, for the most part, pretty decent, but fell off and became the kind of boring and flat U2 that I’m used to in the second half. Higher rating because it isn’t as corny, bland, and unoriginal as Achtung Baby and all that you can’t leave behind, but it’s still pretty overrated.
I liked this! It was fun, not too cheesy/corny, with great vocals. Really enjoyable the whole way through.
While I appreciate how novel this must have been for the time, this was not easy on my ears. A pretty tough listen.
Great storytelling and lyricism, not super my thing but I do have a lot of appreciation for the wonderful writing and vocals. Makes me miss what country music used to be before 9/11.
Definitely a darker, more morose vibe than I would expect from The Beach Boys. I really enjoyed this album.
I get that this is some sort of fundamental rap/hip-hop album, and I respect that. However, this clearly wasn’t for me, and I probably won’t listen to this again.
Pretty good, but this was way too long and while I get its a double album, each one could have and should have easily been cut in half. If all the filler/fluff was removed, I would rate this a lot higher. I did prefer The Love Below to Speakerboxxx (although The Way You Move does fuck heavily). The hits were amazing, and some others were just meh.
A classic pop album. While there were a couple of songs that were pretty meh, this was overall a super fun listen!
A punk classic. Everything else (from this era, at least) pales in comparison. The actual blueprint for punk rock.
Pretty solid punk/post punk! Wasn’t loving the last track or two, but I really enjoyed this overall!
I thought Bob Dylan could not sound worse until I heard him sing for a live performance. Holy shit, few people sound worse singing live. I should not have to hear his mouth sounds right in my ear as he practically swallows the mic. An absolutely unbearable hour and a half.
Not unlike the shoegaze I’ve listened to already, I really enjoyed this! Such a great discovery, one album I’ll definitely have to revisit!
I enjoyed this album! Lots of elements that made this sound pretty ahead of its time. Sounds more 80s than 70s for sure. Pretty solid.
Kind of boring and didn’t really resonate with me at all. Made decent background music though I suppose.
This is a great album, with interesting production choices. Obviously more novel at the time of its release, it’s still a fun listen. God Only Knows is one of the best songs ever written, so this is a strong 4 stars.
At the risk of sounding like a boomer/my dad, this album is the definition of a true classic. Absolutely iconic. Easy 5.
Maybe it’s the childhood nostalgia setting in, but I’m not gonna lie, this is absolute fire. It holds up pretty well imo. If I could pick one album to define the (dubya) Bush era, this would be it. Pretty incredible album tbh.
A pretty solid album with a couple of standout tracks.
A funny and overall enjoyable listen.
Groovy and fun! Some of the songs dragged a little but overall great. Peg absolutely slaps.
Pretty solid, really great harmonies between Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris.
Sympathy for the Devil is a classic, the rest of the album was alright but kind of the same blues rock sound back to back.
I love Fleetwood Mac but I had never listened to this album before. Very glad I did! It’s a little different in a lot of ways than Rumours, but a lot of their creative risks (to me) paid off. Stevie’s songs in particular stand out to me, along with the title track.
I definitely was not in the right state of mind to fully give this a fair shot today. The first half I could appreciate, but the latter half aggravated my pounding headache. Will definitely have to revisit and revise my review later on.
Nothing special. Don’t really have much else to say about this.
Songs range from amazing (Nick of Time) to incredibly corny (Have a Heart). Some were just kind of there, seemingly just to fill time.
I thought this was fine, nothing too out of this world or remarkable though tbh
I really enjoyed this! I liked the sound a lot, happy to have discovered this!
I really enjoyed this album, the whole sound and vibe of this album still feels fresh and not that dated. Very cool find.
A wonderful, classic 80s album. Some absolute bangers on here. Head Over Heels has been in my rotation for years. Easily one of the best of the new wave bands from this era.
Pretty generic 2000s indie. Not bad at all, but not great either.
Decent, Me and Julio Down By the Schoolyard is catchy, but no other real standouts.
I’m so conflicted by this…on one hand, the actual music/instrumentals are so interesting and.ahead of its time. On the other hand, the vocals are just so bad and pretentious sounding. I don’t think I can get past the vocals tbh
Wonderful voice, great covers of already great songs. I enjoyed this a lot.
This is such a great folk rock album! I found this really enjoyable, it makes for easy listening
Kind of grating. Why does he insist on singing like that?
I enjoyed OK Computer a bit more, but this is still pretty good! A bit different from most of what I’ve listened to from Radiohead, but the sound is still great. Really enjoyed Idioteque and Everything In Its Right Place in particular.
Sounds ahead of its time for sure. Pretty cool, but I don’t think I’d go out of my way to listen to it again.
I can recognize that this is different and maybe ahead of its time, but it’s definitely not for me. Very odd imo
While the music sounds nice enough, I can’t in good conscience give an album that glorifies pedophilia anything other than a 1 star. This is fucking gross.
Wonderful album front to back. An absolute classic.
Not terrible but nothing stood out to me. Loses a star for being a compilation/greatest hits album, which feels lazy to include in this list.
