My first LP to listen to was The Köln Concert by Keith Jarrett. I've included a wiki link of the LP itself and a youtube link: https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=c77djHcrmVE&list=OLAK5uy_nCadsSovaCieKT8xqxSZlxJgK1pg7Uw_c https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_K%C3%B6ln_Concert
I'd Never listened to it before even though It had been recommended to me several times. It's Brilliant. What a shame I've deprived myself of it my whole life. The story behind the recording is just as remarkable.

If you've ever wondered what the difference between punk rock, and indy rock is, it's this: Alt Rock. And this LP, Surfer Rosa by the Pixies is a prime example. A banger of a debut LP, "Doolittle" would follow a year later, it's an influential debut album. It combines raw, abrasive noise with unexpected moments of pop melody and quirky, surreal lyrics. It's unique in that it combines , spacious production and the dynamic interplay between Black Francis's intense vocals, avant-garde guitar work, and melodic bass, it has inspired generations of musicians. 4/5 for me.
Not my cup of tea but I do see the value in this recording. Art rock/dance/disco/pop are how I would describe this one. A least 4 songs I can honestly say caught my ear. Definitely worth a listen. Reminded of Laurie Anderson quite often.
Classic R&B from the legendary Al Green. It’s included in several “greatest of all time” lists. For good reason too. I really enjoyed it… I need to listen with someone very dear to me next time … 5/5
Good record. Not my bag of tea but it is very good.
Classic southern rock. Great live LP from a band, and a genre, I'm not that crazy about.
Another classic rocker. "Felling Alright?" is on here and that's oretty cool.
I loved this record back in the day and I still do now! Probably my favortie LP by The Police.
Not my favorite band by any stretch but I do like this LP very much. The Queen is Dead, Frankly Mr. Shankly, Cemetry Gates, Bigmouth strikes Again... some really good stuff on here.
Zappa, a genius, has never made music that appealed to me, a man of a much lesser intellect. I'm sure it's great on some levels but not for me.
Not my bag of tea but I know this LP from my old college roommate. It does bang ! Classic.
Classic Stones. One of my favorites from them. Rocks Off, Tumbling Dice, Happy, All Down the Line, Plundered My Soul.
Another solid outing by Supertramp.
School, Bloody Well Right, and Dreamer are the standout tracks for me.
I didn't really care for this one.
IMHO - This is one of the most overrated LPs in rock and roll history. There are some really good moments on here but I've never seen what the all fuss was about. The band and the LP are just okay IMHO.
Classic stuff from one of the greats! saw him live at the Grand Ol' Opry back '73... fun stuff.
Classic 60’s / early 70s rock.
Highway 61 is one of my very favorite Bob Dylan records.
One of my very favorites from Paul Simon!
A great one from a great one !
The LP that killed Van Halen. A very successful LP and tour. Several hits. Not their best but certainly worth a listen.
Not my bag of tea. I do see the appeal
THE PUNK LP TO OWN !! One of my all time favorites !
Not bad. I feel like I should really like them but o don’t really care for them that much.
One of my favorites from Sir Reginald!
Good stuff. I prefer The Raconteurs but this is an iconic duo and a trend setting LP.
Classic, dare I say groundbreaking jazz...?
One of my favorited from The Stones.
Face to Face, an album focusing on the loose common theme of social observation, is often regarded by critics as one of rock's first concept albums. Their first album consisting entirely of songs composed by members of The Kinks. "Sunny Afternoon" was the big hit. Apparently Ray Davies had suffered a nervous breakdown before recording began. Another all time fave of mine by The Kinks.
meh. New wave was fun for a little bit.
One of my faves from the Pumpkins!
Not my favorite by Neil but still a strong LP
Not a fan per se but I do enjoy his work from time to time
I love John Lennon but not this one...
One of my faves by Wilco!
Classic Clapton, Classic Derek and The Dominos.
Classic Lp from LA punk rockers X.
One of my favorites from The Stones!
My favorite country music concept LP!
Not a fan per se but not bad
One of my early Alt Rock faves !
One of my ALL TIME FAVES !!
One of the first concept albums. Details the Crazy story that is the life of S.F. Sorrow. Fantasy sci fi rock and roll. Worth a listen.
A great from our brothers in arms...
Jersey Girl is my fave on here. I like it all. The title track is also good, as is “On the Nickel”. A pretty decent LP overall.
Not my bag of tea but it was for my old roommate. Heard a lot of their stuff back in the day.
Not my favorite from The Band but definitely a good record
One of his best and one of my favorites!
Not a bad effort. Technically these guys could all play but they put some of the blandest music i've ever heard. One or two gems per outing but not enough to make me want to hear a whole lot from them. "Sweetheart of the Rodeo" is the one Lp of theirs that I really like.
Good stuff from The Who. Second LP of theirs that I’ve rated in here. The incredibly overrated “Love at Leeds” was the first one I reviewed. Several “Who standards” on here this one.
Not my bag of tea, but I can appreciate it...
Not reallu my thang but this isn't bad ata all.
It doesn't get any better than this!
Too long … some classics on there though …
wow. Why exactly did I need to hear this?
Possibly the lamest of all Paul Weller recordings... not including his other solo stuff...
I like these guys... I can't say for sure why though... I just do.
not my bag but it isn't bad.
Good stuff. Not my thang per se.
Good stuff from Dwight. Not a country fan but I appreciate what he's done with this LP and his entire career.
I’ve never really cared for these guy… at all.
Classic feel good record from back in the day!
Revolver is one of my all time Beatle favorites !!
I'm not a big fan of theirs but i do like this record.
Fantastic LP. Not my favorite band by any stretch but you have to love their spirit.
Classic 80’s pop rock! I love this LP! Chock full of hits !!
Just meh! Not a fan of country rock.
I've tried to get into Moby's music... It's just not happening. :(
I really like this one from Dylan.
NOt a big fan of theirs. i just don't get what all the hype is about. "Creep" is very good but it's not on this LP.
Not seeing the attraction here.
Classic soul from the God Father himself.
Seriously - what is the criteria to get on this list ? The hit, “We Are Family”, is innocuous disco that seemingly helped the Pittsburgh Pirates win the World Series in 1979 but other than that there isn’t much to get excited about on this LP.
THey are good at what they do but I'm not a big fan.
Another all time favorite!
Never heard this one before but I like it.
I like Yes, well several songs by Yes anyway. I've always thought that prog rock was modern classical music. None of the Yes songs that I like are on this LP.
Hell yeah!! Front to back a great record!
One of my ALL TIME FAVORITES FROM EC! "Town Cryer" is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE SONGS FROM EC!. Such a great record front to back.
These guy seem to be really popular. I don't get it. I do like a couple from them but not much else.
I like that these guys existed but not much here as far as hooks and good melodies. Some of the best of "post punk" music.
oh yeah! I love this record. Davis was irascible and hot tempered but a true musical genius.
People like these guys because why?
Not a bad record, I'm just not that enthralled by her stuff. Again, at the risk of sounding really mean, I'm gobsmacked at some of the mediocre stuff that has made this list.
Lots of hits. Pedophile sooo. Nah.
I don't get it. I suppose this one is also "great". Not for me though.
No thanks. The single most overrated LP, and band, of the punk rock movement.
Love at first listen. The dysfunction that follows this LP is EPIC. lol
Nota big fan but I appreciate their effort and good music played/done well is good music.
This is it! I love this record and this band. They have made several other great records but this is THE GREAT record that started it all.
I’m not a big fan of The Doors. I do appreciate their place in the history of R&R though. 3 really good tunes on here.
I’ve never heard a tune from these guys that I thought was even remotely bearable. I do not understand the appeal.
Not the best example of his work. Again, I'm befuddled by some of the LPs included on this list. I do appreciate the variety and scope of the list.
One of my favorites from Mr. Dylan. Solid start to finish.
Not a rap guy per se but I respect good music. This is a pretty decent offering from Common. I like socially conscious music and it seems mot rap is truly that.
LOVE! Pure energy ! A great live LP.
It’s good stuff. Not in my wheelhouse but it is very good.
Immigrant Song is the stand out tune here.
No thanks. I did give it a go though...
he he he Hell yeah. Not a big country fan but George Jones was one of the best!
Awww... YEAH! One of my top 5 Lps by The Beatles ! Other than the fianl track, "Run For Your Life", it is fantastic.
He he he pretty cool but not anything I really care for. I do like Eno and David Byrne quite a bit though.
Not their best. A couple of good ones on here though.
I really loved this one back in the day. Looking back it was because of three songs.
They had some good stuff. I still don’t get how people moon over them. Overrated imho
While I actually like The Who and have listened to this LP, allegedly one of the greatest live records of all time, I just don't care for it. I don't see the appeal. They strike me as an incrdibley sloppy live act.
Hmmp these guys are from Sheffield. Wonder if they are “Blades” or “Owls”? Either way not crazy about them.
Probably pretty decent for electronica... but I'm not a fan.
I've never cared for these guys and after this I still don't.
I'm deeply offended by this type of crap. -1 please...
THIS IS A GREAT LP AND A GREAT BAND !
Love. Absolute blues boss.
Good stuff. I’m new to him but I like it !
Nah … she’s got some pipes on her though …
I like one of their other LPs a little bit too. Not my bag of tea but it's not completely horrible.
wow! Absolutely awful. raw crap. -1
Not a fan. Not completely horrible IMHO but definitely unremarkable.
wow. How high do you have to be to even begin to think this is worth a shit? -1
This is a really cool LP. 4 stars for sure
The one that started it all.
Another LP that launched an amazing career. I love this record.
