Giving this one star for the nice, chill beats, but this is such a boring album. And once the vocals start, it somehow becomes even MORE boring. This album would almost be better with just the background beats. Listen again: no Purchase for my collection: no Favourite Song: the opening track

Honestly super disappointed. I know it's supposed to be minimalist pop and it's the exact style they went for. But it just felt empty. Lacked a heart to it. The vocals were also bored of their own music. Intro prepared me for an interesting album but the rest of the tracks didn't follow the same intro.

I didn't like this album all that much, it was super low volume, repetitive and overall flat music. It's not totally bad, but didn't have much highlights in general.

I like to think I'm pretty open-minded and like to embrace new music. This is not particularly innovative or groundbreaking and although I normally like this kind of vibe it's insipid.

The intro was cool in an ambient way. The rest of the album blows. Hopefully this poor band was going through a phase and wasn’t actually as depressed as their music.

this album is honestly boring, and isnt amusing in any way. it feels plain all throughout and also doesnt have the greatest writing either, one example being on the song 'Shelter' on the first verse: "I find shelter in this way Under cover hideaway Can you hear when I say 'I have never felt this way'", it just seems very lackluster and that kind of writing is all over that track and album as a whole. there are also stuff on certain tracks that are just out of place like on track 5, Heart Skipped A Beat, I felt like the beat of the song and the singing just didnt click, it seemed so odd, and i didnt like it at all. I also am not a big fan of Romy or Oliver's voice, especially not over this production, i dont think it fits their voices. im rating this album a 1. my favorite song on here is Intro.

The singing was hard to listen to and it felt like I was in urban outfitters

I had "intro" on my running playlist for forever and have heard it an infinite number of times, but was like, "did I ever listen to the rest of this record?" when I saw it. I have to assume the answer was "once, to realize I hated it, and then never again" until today.

Khruangbin if they weren't fun. I imagine with all the minimalism it was probably faster to write this album than some songs altogether. Honestly it's as if a high-school indie pop band had a lucky break.

I knew this one was coming. In the past the "Intro" was all I really enjoyed. Okay let me give it another try! ....a few hours later... Um... it appears my opinion hasn't changed since 2009. Just a poor execution of some of my favorite musical elements... like soft delicate twee electro-pop... but 100% uninspired... which makes me 100% uninterested

The xx's are my eyes after I load the single bullet into my pistol and push it straight up against my temple after listening to this. This is like if Portishead were all brain damaged to fuck and somehow made a successful album. My penis receded 12 feet backwards into my large intestine. I have more talent when I bend over and suck my own balls than the 3 of these fuckers combined. Why do I keep getting awful albums?

I thought I liked them when I heard them before but as it turns out I'm not much of a fan of this album. Pretty dull nothing really grabbed me at all.

Bad. Didn't like the boring production, didn't like the boring vocals. I liked the guitars in the second song, some of the drums were okay. But the album was mostly bad.

I've never been so bored.

This album sounds so dated, it’s aged horribly and it’s not even old. Some of the compositions can be interesting but it is ruined as soon as the vocals come in. This album is so full of itself it makes me roll my eyes into the back of my head.

Like aural Valium. Did not get into this one at all. Not sure what mood I'd have to be in to appreciate it. Found myself on more than one occasion wanting to skip tracks just to get to the finish. Maybe as background music while building Lego or colouring would be a suitable time to give it another shot. Overall, just not my bag.

This was a snoozefest. They have two vocalists, and they both sounded so disconnected and apathetic the entire album. The stripped down, chill instrumentals are ... okay ... but I was extremely bored and felt uninspired while listening to this.

Boring as sin

Unintersting music by disinterested musicians. I pictured them all recording this while looking non-stop at their phones while pretending that none of the other musicians were actually there. EVERY track sounded the same except for the first song, which was an obvious rip-off of David Bowie's "Heroes".

Endless quantities of horrible lo-fi indie bedroom music have come out since the mid 2010s that sound just like this. Yuck. It comes across as so devoid of soul and talent. The entire album could've been written by selecting default backing tracks in GarageBand. The girl's voice is basic and bland, but it's nothing compared to the cringe-inducing terror that is the guy's voice. Plus the guitar is so simplistic it hurts, literally the most basic guitar playing I've heard on this entire 1001 list.

I'll give it another listen today, but this is one of the most boring albums I've ever heard.. yeah I tried. Still awful...

No, lo siento, de verdad lo intenté. No conocía al grupo, no tengo ningún cargo extra anterior sobre pensar que estén o no sobrevalorados ni sabía de su grado de fama. Entiendo lo que quieren hacer hasta cierto grado, hacer una música minimalista, susurrada y que se sienta digamos hasta cierto punto erótica y personal. En mi gusto fallan tremendamente, termina siendo una colección se música ambiental mal producida cantada sin afecto alguno y se siente tal cual como un disco "mal hecho." Como mencionaba entiendo hasta cierto punto quizá el por qué hay a quienes les ha llamado la atención sobre todo en ese público que se siente que debe estar más avanzado que los demás (llamémosles hipsters por facilidad) pero en mi opinión lo que quieren expresar se queda perdido en un disco que simplemente suena mal musical y vocalmente. Parece gracia pero es correcto, esa primera canción que parece prólogo y no lleva a nada es tanto la mejor del disco como el más claro reflejo del álbum completo.

Disappointing after the first track. That was all I knew of The xx, and was excited to listen through the album. The rest of it falls short, unfortunately.
