Annoying, abrasive
Punk’s not really my scene.
Definitely not for me, but it had a consistent sound! Favourite track: Pretty Vacant
I didn't hate the style, but I have issues with some of the lyrics. I get that this album was a big deal and caused a lot of controversy when it came out. But you can be anti-authority without using slurs directed at the LGBTQ+ community, or writing about a fans abortions ("Bodies"). This song definitely got my attention, but rather than bringing abortion rights issues to mind it made me wonder if I want to listen to this band again (I don't).
no one involved in this project put time, effort or thought into it, so I'm not going to waste much of mine reviewing it. boring boring boring. not even in the top ten best uk punk albums of 1977. there are no interesting ideas. ps. the drums sound ok and "no feelings" is kinda funny the first time through.
Not for me. Never understood the hype.
Interesting. Just not my vibe
really angry men
Not my kind of music sounds like cheeks all the songs in the album are very similar just some British guy chatting away over some rock
Zu anstrengend Nicht meins
Not my vibe.
Oof, not a fan of the founding or modern punk rock.
Too noisy. I don't like the vocal. Not for me.
I would give it a two star because it sounds like your average everyday stuff - bland pop music for the 70s era where rock was THE thing. Dropped to one star because of lack of variety in riffs and drum fills, and also the background as an industry plant whcih is a huge turn off for me
Manufactured punk music The origin of the boy band Give it a miss
You can tell a lot about someone’s knowledge of punk by how highly they rate this (it’s fucking shite)
1 Not my cup of tea
I wish I had minded the bollocks because that's all the sex pistols ever amounted to. Yes, they're the original British punk band. That doesn't mean they're good. Not a single song I'd ever want to hear again. Johnny Rotten sounds like the tosspot that would stand in the back of the Christmas pageant and sing off key at the top of his lungs just to ruin the show, and then giggle with his friends afterwards behind the gym whilst smoking a broken cigarette he stole from his dad. Revolutionary, yes. Do they belong on the list, yes. Are they good, no. My rating: 1/5 earplugs.
очень скучный альбом и к тому же переоценен
ANARCHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY these r my folk 1
Now I got a reason.. to say.. I hated this.
Dogshit. Doesn't even deserve 1 star
Punk is a nope. I can live with the instrumentation (guitars and drum lines were nice) but the singing....just nope. . Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): N/A ⭐: Didn't like it.
Jedinica iz principa. // Bila bi dvica jer je Anarchy kako već kvalitetna i legendarna pjesma a ostale se ne mogu slušati praktično.
The Sex Pistols, like most original punk bands were a singles band. The first three singles were magnificent. The rest was pretty dire, sub Stooges noise. The bootleg album (which was available before this) has a rougher mix, and sounds better. I don’t think I’ve played this right through since the day I bought in 77. Listening again, apart from the singles, it’s really not very good.
I’m sure at the time this came out it was revolutionary but hearing it for the first time in 2025 sounds like a parody of what punk is supposed to sound like.
Garbage, talentless, manufactured discontent. Dreadful.
just not for me
not my thing.
Ugh! Disgusting!
I just don't like the Sex Pistols. There. I said it.
I didn't like this one at all. Just kind of listened to it to get through it. Maybe it was the lead singer's voice. Just really couldn't find a song that I enjoyed.
I'm confused why a punk counter-culture album from the late 70s is so grating. Even if you're going to buy Daniel's 3 rating on the Stooges yesterday because it was impressively counter culture, this came out a decade later, so there is really no excuse.
If I could have this album without the song "New York", I would take it in a heart beat. It's brilliant and fun to see Brit Rock taken to 11 and embrace the punk sound that it would inspire. That album would be a five-star album for me. But alas, I can't just ignore songs and I have an established rule about the use of the f-slur. So, unfortunately I have to give this one star.
Just the worst thing ever
After this and PiL's Metal Box, I have come to accept that I do not care for John Lydon's vocals. This wasn't enjoyable for me at all, so I didn't listen all the way through.
Not a fan
I know....I know...they are influential. But I was not alive when they were in their peak. And I am not particularly rebellious or punk. And I will not be listening to this again.
these guys are posers
Legendary music, but can't get past the murder and right-wing bullshit from John.
Well one thing's for sure and its that this for sure made me think of pistols. And grabbing my own. And using it. Why why why am I being tortured by music that sounds like pots and pans falling down stairs. (Or SamWise finally ditching his right before their journey is over). Please please stop.
I hate punk rock. This album was an assault on my ear drums. I respect the historical and pop culture significance of the band but that's about it.
Load of Bollocks
Yelling and thrashing.
Not my personal taste at all.
i love this sound typically, but i don’t think album has aged well. none of the tracks are particularly memorable.
All sounds the same and I do not like his voice
Didnt listen
Do not like 1 star
Jeg forstår ikke det her album
0 gfühlt au eri top songs ned
Die Lieder fangen gut an und dann kommt der Gesang. Er raubt den Liedern jede aufgebaute Melodie, man kann nicht mitsingen, sie ist so nervig
It turns out that I’m not a Sex Pistols fan. Particularly when the one song they’re most famous for you don’t wanna listen to it and you skip it on the album.
Ahah can't think of a better follow up to a Queen album. The Clash might have been better musicians and the Ramones might have played harder but neither of them could match the anarchy of the Pistols. In a little over a year Johnny and Sid trashed everything and walked out before anybody had known what happened. Even veterans like McClaren and Branson couldn't control it. Precisely the vandals the 70s needed. Greatest album ever made. One Star.
what the fuck
Pubertierendes Geschrei.
I just don't like them.
Never mind is right ... I listen to these albums in the morning, and this was no way to start the day. I knew I was in for it when I saw the name, but thought maybe I could get through it. I couldn't.
45 years later and I still don’t appreciate it.
Perverts.
'It is frequently listed as the most influential punk album, and one of the best and most important albums of all time.' Punk is Junk!!! Johnny Rotten, what a perfect name. Sorry, this is just NOISE!
Historically significant album given the various ways in which it introduced cussing into mainstream music. Musically, not for me.
Screaming is not music. (See also rap, hip hop, heavy metal, hard rock for the most part.) 1/5
Not my cup of tea.
Went for a cheeky run to the cafe along the Thames. Did not enjoy the album but enjoyed the run and the coffee.
This album is responsible for post-punk, so without them I wouldn't have New Order or Talking Heads. I praise this album in the same way that I praise factory owners for inspiring Marx to write Capital. Faux angsty talentless thrashing and whiny vocals delivering kiddie pool-depth lyrics. Why this inspired a MOVEMENT and enthralled a generation of the musical commentariat escapes me. Perhaps the answer can be found in whatever was in England's waterways or whatever fucked up narcotics passed as prescription medicine back in the late 70s. Much like slavery, genocide, exploitation, class war and systemic racism; punk was born in England and perfect in the USA. Highlights: the silence before I hit play
Boring
Actual terrible music. More thought-provoking, amusing and clever rhymes can readily be found in children’s books. I feel entitled to financial compensation after sitting through 39 minutes of this brainrot garbage. 1/10
Not my cup of tea
chato

First listen. Nah. Sounded like one long song.

The Sex Pistols' album *Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols* is a seminal work in punk rock history, released in 1977. Here's a review from various perspectives: ### Lyrics The lyrics of *Never Mind the Bollocks* are provocative, rebellious, and unapologetically raw. Songs like "Anarchy in the U.K." and "God Save the Queen" embody a defiant critique of the political and social status quo, reflecting the disillusionment of the youth of that era. The language and themes are often confrontational, using explicit content to challenge societal norms and institutions. For Christian listeners, the themes might be jarring, as they often contrast sharply with traditional Christian values of peace, harmony, and respect for authority. ### Musicality Musically, the album is characterized by its raw, energetic sound. The Sex Pistols employ a straightforward, aggressive approach to punk rock, with fast tempos, simple chord progressions, and a sense of urgency. The guitar riffs are gritty and the drumming is relentless, creating a sonic backdrop that mirrors the intensity of their lyrics. This rawness was revolutionary at the time and set a standard for the punk genre. ### Style The style of *Never Mind the Bollocks* is quintessential punk: abrasive, direct, and unpolished. It rejects the elaborate production and polished aesthetics of mainstream rock music of the time. The Sex Pistols' fashion, attitude, and sound all embody the punk ethos of rebellion and anti-establishment sentiment. Their style was not just about the music but also about a broader cultural statement against societal norms. ### Production Value The production of the album, handled by Chris Thomas and the band, is deliberately rough around the edges. The sound is deliberately unrefined, reflecting the punk philosophy of authenticity over technical perfection. While it lacks the high production values of other contemporary rock albums, this rawness is part of what gives it its edge and character. ### Cultural Impact *Never Mind the Bollocks* had a profound impact on music and culture. It was a defining moment in the punk rock movement, influencing countless bands and shaping the direction of alternative music. The album’s rebellious spirit and anti-establishment messages resonated with many, giving voice to a generation of disaffected youth. Its impact extended beyond music, influencing fashion, language, and attitudes in broader culture. ### Recommendations for This Generation For listeners today, *Never Mind the Bollocks* offers a historical glimpse into the origins of punk rock and the cultural upheavals of the late 1970s. It’s a powerful piece of music history and can provide insight into the spirit of rebellion that characterized its era. However, given its explicit content and the aggressive nature of its themes, it might not align with everyone's values or tastes, particularly for those with more conservative or traditional views. In summary, while *Never Mind the Bollocks* is a landmark album in punk rock and cultural history, its content and style might not resonate with all listeners, especially those who prioritize messages of harmony and respect. For those interested in the roots of punk and its impact on music and society, it remains an essential listen.
Nem nagyon me type
Hard to listen to this impartially knowing that Johnny rotten's a right wing expletive, and that they were a manufactured (?) band. Energy is undeniable, but the style starts to grate on me after a few songs. I got bored and stopped. 1.5?
Не нравится
Did not enjoy this one
Influential \neq good. This is a classic example of what I describe as "actively bad", ie I'd rather be listening to silence than this
They broke the rules in the worst way to open the doors for people to break the rules in the right way.
No.
Ugh, no thanks. Its punk as hell but also a hard pass.
Dreadful
First
A loud mess. Monotonous screamy vocals. Overall, not a fan.
Not sure what all the fuss is/was about
Perhaps the most overrated album of all time.
takes me back to all of the research i had to do for my german speaking exam opening track was nice but idk i was so bored by the end
Lots of raw energy, but it all sounds the same after awhile
FUCK JOHNNY ROTTEN. HE ACTUALLY LIVES UP TO HIS NAME. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE MUSIC FUCKING SUCKS. LITERAL ‘70s CORPORATE MANUFACTURED BOYBAND. “PUNK” MY ASS.
I don't like ska music it just ain't my cuppa tea
Head banging
A pretty perfect follow-up to yesterday's Black Monk Time, which is a far far superior punk album to this. This album is awful. Probably the worst thing I've listened to so far. Impossible to stress how bad this whole thing sounds. Big old bunch of losers making a big old mess. I understand its place on this list - I don't think this list should only contain good music, and having historically important albums on the list is a good thing, but that does not make this album any better to listen to. Have I mentioned enough times that this album sounds bad? This clip is more important than this album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQI9HMg1yyY
Absolute dog ass 2/10
Problems God Save The Queen Seventeen I get they were one of the first punk rock bands and were influential. That doesn’t mean it’s good. Glad I have the culture and know that I don’t like them now.
Fantastic Johnny Rotten AGAIN. In one of the reviews this is called the greatest punk album of all time. Still utter shite. I had forgotten (or more likely suppressed) that the person responsible for inflicting this awfull ear-ache unto humanity was Malcolm McLaren. I actually like (and listen to) some of Malcolm's work which proves that everybody has redeeming qualities, everybody except Johnny Rotten. I still can't find any redeeming quality in him.
I tried, but I just can't get past the nails on chalkboard vocals. I just can't do it. I appreciate the punk instrumentals and what they did for the scene but I just can't stand this album.
Below average band with bad following. Most of this album is a waste of time
I'm not a huge fan of this band or this style of punk. Add in how this was a curated punk band and it really is a major turn off. Complete antithesis of what punk is supposed to embody - and the lead singer is a shit too.
It’s nothing more than a chintzy rock ‘n’ roll dumpster fire from a band whose mystique and lore always outshined their talent.
Garbage
Yesterday, I wanted to know what the artist was saying in English, today I wish that I did not understand them. I thought it was hard to be on a level of bad like PIL, but they found it. Feel like it is all a show to them and they don’t know what they are really even against. I mean is Bodies a pro-life statement or what were they really trying to say.
Punk. Not a fan.
Alla förutom första låten var bra. Coolt med mycket instrumental
Ne, das wird nix!
Not for me.
Was a tough listening session, felt a bit repetitive, I know it's supposed to be one of the most influential albums of all time but still
This is crap
First thought: what, this is music? Later thought: OK, it is, although someone is rather shouting than singing. Still not what I like to listen to, not my definition of music.
OMG!!! Horrible noise! Same noise each section with different words. Definitely have to be on drugs to even listen. I cannot!!!
Syd needs a vocal coach.
my brain hurt listening to the annoying voice
They tried to make statement. Props for that. Almost completely unenjoyable.
Too too harsh for the most part. Did listen all the way through the one about the queen
Schlechter Punk Rock
1/10, überhaupt nicht meine Musik
Not for me
The title of the album slaps, but that's unfortunately where the compliments end with this one; nothing else redeeming here at all
No thanks.
Really not very good unfrotunately.
Terrible. It's such a mess. The vocals are just some guy yelling. It's like listening to a high-school garage rock band. You deserve better.
Because of its age and being british the bite it has is very soft. It feels like if anarchists had christian values All of the songs just sound like one continuous song, all very alike. Best songs: Seventeen, Anarchy in the U.K. (classic), New York
So much punk, all of it shite.
loud sameness, a bit fun though
Well, it's punk. Didn't even hate it, was completely disinterested
this was bollocks indeed so bad and unmemorable that I didn't even realize it looped and I listened to the first 2 songs again
Not really my thing
Too punky
A lot of anarchic noise. It’s their choice, but I’ve got no feeling for this. They wore their heart out on a plate, didn’t give a damn but they were pretty vacant.
Couple bangers but overall not for me
Not interested
Not my style and most songs sounded a lot alike.
I like punk but never liked the Sex Pistols very much.
Holidays in the Sun 1.5/5
Okay, I appreciate them pioneering not just punk music but the rebellious punk culture in general. However, I can't deny the fact that it hurts my ears listening to this. It's basically 30+ minutes of an annoying British boy shouting at you over aimless guitars. It's punk AF yes, and I don't like it. What a load of bollocks.
Can’t think of many albums I dislike more. Many much better punk bands to listen to.
Unfortunately, I absolutely consider this album to be, in fact, the bollocks. I listened to a bit less than half each of half of the tracks, that has to be enough. While respecting the influence this album I had - it's still the archetype of a style of music I can't stomach. To me, the 'rawness' of the music translates to unlistenable, badly played chaos. So, good on these guys for pushing and re-defining boundaries and public sentiment. But bad on these guys for making horrible music.
Not a fan.
Solist de cacat csf
The original disruptors!! Also, they claim to be. didn’t last very long, didn’t disrupt much and our queen, certainly outlasted them. Certainly not my kind of music, but someone at the time like them, I suppose.
super repetitive, no standounts
Not my style. At all. Did not enjoy a single song.
Punk That's all nothing more nothing less Boringish
I had never listened to the whole thing before so I did. Punk is really not my thing.
just not that good imo. idk if its the wrong genre for me or what but i just do not get it it feels very inauthentic and fake
Passssssssssssssss
Again not for me. Obviously massively influential but feels like one of those things where you had to be there. I've never really been into punk at any point.
gähn... das ist wirklich sooo langweilig, kein bock gehabt. hab lieber gute musik gehört
sxheiss punker
Dieser Energie Ausbruch musste wohl sein. Lockt nen psychedelisch verwachsenen Art Rocker nicht hinterm Tresen hervor. 1.2
Not my thing.
I did not like this at all. To my ears, it's just a discordant mess of screaming and whining. I feel like an old man who just does not get the whole "youth music" thing, despite not even having been born when the album was released.
Nope
nope
Some ok songs, bit tired of all the shouting
Not a huge fun due to it being an old rock album. Plus, it's hard to understand what they are saying over the noisy beats and it sounds all mindless music to me. Would Give It: 1/5.
Do I have to? Really? I can't stand this album, personally. Spun it a lot when I was younger, but as the years go by I just can't separate what I know about it and how it sounds. The manufactured pop of punk. Yeah.
Hoe vaak moet ik het nog zeggen, ik heb niks met punk...
Turns out I don’t like the Sex Pistols. A little too grungy, a little too repeaty, a little too gravely.
I don’t think I’ve ever actually listened to the Sex Pistols, even though I’ve most definitely heard of them. Wait, why does this guy sound like the lead singer on the B-52’s? You know, I’m not really digging this album so far. Okay, so yeah. I don’t really like hard rock. I’m a big fan of alt-rock, but hard rock is not my thing.
Just random screaming wtf
2- Aparentemente nao gosto de sex pistols, parei na terceira musica. Muito falado, pouco cantado.
just angry noise
I couldn't get into this one tbh. 0/5
