Wasn’t really excited to listen to another Reggae album, but a number of these tunes we quite good.
Wow, it’s hard to believe this is his first, and not a greatest hits album. Lots of really good tunes, and “Alison” just gets better and better with age.
“Watching the Detectives” still has an incredible base line and punchey drums, “Less than Zero”, and “Blame it on Cain” still hold up 45 years.
A few good ones, still as depressing as when I first heard it.
Still sounds a fresh and new as my first listen 58 years ago. Even the covers are new and alive.
A lot of great live performances, really took me back
Very good writing and production
Ground breaking, these guys started synchro-tech.
Lots of raw energy, but it all sounds the same after awhile
Not exactly my kind of music, but a very good album
4 or so solid tunes that still hold up, not into the stuff
Lots of good stuff, and energy
Two timeless classics Marianne & Suzanne, but the rest is hard to listen to.
This is a waist of vinyl/CD/memory on any device.
What a piece of crap,
Wow haven’t heard this before (but have heard other “Queens” recordings), and I like it. A lot!
For a first recording, it’s a keeper.
Never have been a big BG fan, and after listening to this, know I will never be one.
A lot of the same old thing
I am not a fan of hip-hop and never will be
Very aggressive, and it all sounds the same to me. If this is on the 1001 best, I can’t imagine what’s on the 1001 worst
Very solid recording that stands up well over time
Well everyone has their opinion, I reviewed a few for this recording. The individuals that rated this anything over 2, I wonder what they think of Dark side of the moon?
This was another me 2 hip hop piece of turd, with very little originality. The only saving moment was the string arrangement
Wow this is still really great music, time has only made this recording better.
Marc Bolan was a brilliant composer and musician that unfortunately passed way before his time. David Bowie had it right.
Still not a big hip hop fan (is it not possible to write lyrics without explicit language?)
Still holds up, lots of great tunes
Excellent writing and recording of happy catchy tunes. This has held up well over time.
Not the best example of ELP’s work, but still much better than many of the 1001
This one made it to my 1001 mediocre albums picked out of a 2nd hand store. To classify this as any sort of “Rock” is blasphemy.
Great tunes, these guys rock
Kill me now, I can’t believe so many people bought this crap
Sad to think he knew he was dying when he recorded it
This is truly a recording that deserves to be on the 1001 list of greatness
A lot of great rocking tunes
Wow, I haven’t heard this for a long time, but “Rip it up” and “I can’t help myself” still sound good
American Pie is still a great song, most of the rest of this album is so so at best
The was the worst recorded music? Yet!
Ya I could set up a sequencer and record an album of 💩 like this, but I have mercy.
Ehh, perhaps it was ok when released, but I have no space or time for this
This is very dark music!
Not advised for people who like to be positive or happy.
Not foe me
Ehh, I guess if you’re into head-banding stuff, you can knock yourself out in this one. Not for me thanks
An incredible Blues artist with a great collection of his work
Wow a lot of people must have bee wry stoned (or out of their minds) to have actually paid for this audio recording.
I still can’t understand how or why so much of this garbage makes it into this list (perhaps people related to the artist).
Save your money for Radiohead
A lot of these songs still hold up
Great to be depressed with
One hit wonder not the most creative band
Absolutely fantastic after 50+ years
Oh I have only one wish when it comes to Bob Dylan: keep writing music, stop singing!
I have seen him live (as an opening act) 3 times and walked out every time. He is a brilliant writer, but can’t sing (or perform) for shit
Solid, great writing that has held up extremely well
Brilliant! Well written, great production, very enjoyable
Many of these tunes have held up well
The bonus tracks were an added treat
Wow! I was thinking typical gross lyrics but this was so good, it blew my mind! So jazzy and progressive. May you be smiling in Heaven, cause this is brilliant (and unexpected)
I listened to it twice and then found “The Hot Rat Sessions” for a mind blowing set of studio cuts
This is an example of a relatively unheard of recording, that rocks.
I loved it the first time I heard it and have loved it ever since.
Over played, almost every track has the same drum beat
Unfortunately this has not aged well, but I enjoyed it back in the day
Really great to listen to
There is nothing to say except, this is one of the finest recordings of all time
If Chrissy Hind and Lou Reed had a baby
There are so many great Blur recordings, and this is definitely one of them
Same old, nothing ground breaking
We bought this when it was released, and were blown away with so many amazing songs. 55 years later it is still so solid!
Yes there are a few so-so efforts (like Honey Pie, Rev #9), however when you consider how many incredible songs are on this double LP:
-Well my Guitar gently weeps
-Helter Skelter
- Obla de
- Back in the USSR
- I’m so tired
- Dear Prudence
- Sexy Sadie
- Rocky Raccoon
- Piggies
- Julia
- I will
- Birthday
- Revolution 1
- Mother Nature’s son
Above all my favorite is Yer Blues
“The eagle picks my eye
The worm he licks my bone
I feel so suicidal
Just like Dylan's Mr. Jones
Lonely
Want to die
If I ain't dead already
Oh, girl, you know the reason why
Black cloud crossed my mind
Blue mist round my soul
Feel so suicidal
Even hate my rock and roll”
This is truly one of my top 10!
A true master, but a lot of it sounds the same
Rod had one good LP, Every Picture tells a story. He has only written a handful of songs, and without Ron Wood he probably wouldn’t have made it.
No wonder he had to switch to M.O.R. (Sap crap)
Not a big rap fan, but “The message “ and “White lines” are excellent.
A fine recording with lots of great tunes
What a waste of recording time
Wow totally unexpected, absolutely brilliant.
This is classic jazz at it’s height
Gag me with a cheesy spoon, this could be used as torture.
Not the best Who recording, but lots of good stuff
I’m not a fan of Country, I find it backwards and depressing
It’s been a while since I heard this, but it holds up amazingly well
This still is an amazing recording with so many classic Hendrix greats
Not Neil’s best, but still it’s Neil!
Still an exceptional recording, with so many great (now classic) tunes.
Outstanding!!! The 2nd disk has many great songs, my favorite: Dead Flowers
Vintage Stones, love it all
Like a fine wine (nod to Gary/Geddy), this fine piece of craftsmanship only improves with time.
All 3 musicians continue to improve and expand, it’s hard to believe 3 guys can create and replicate this live!
The writing is solid, incredible bass lines, amazing guitar, and unimaginably sophisticated drums. Neil’s lyrics just keep getting better, how do they do it?
Highlights for me have always been: Red Barchetta, Tom Sawyer, and YYZ (Toronto’ airport call letters) just blow me away.
Very interesting, never heard of this before, but listened to it twice
Words can’t express the joy of listening to this historical recording. The “Duke” is simply incredible and had assembled an amazing group of musicians.
I got this when it came out and have loved it ever since.
Of course Michelle and Norgian Wood are classics, but there are so many other great tunes that still hold up.
Very impressed by so many things on this recording, you can see why Bowie had such a successful long career.
Ya I have heard Changes, Andy Worhal, oh you pretty thing, and Life on Mars many many times and always liked them. However there are so many other great guitar rifts (Eignt line Poem), and lyrics (Quicksand). Unfortunately a few duds held me back from a 5-star
I first bought this when I was 14, and I thought it was great. I have t heard it in 40+ years and it still kicks butt
Not sure if this is a spoof or not, but we’ve heard it all before
Nothing new, nothing special
Disco sucked then and sucks even more now
How did this guy get a recording contract? Bin dare done dat, same old crap
One of my all time favorites, I just wish Roger Waters wasn’t such a dick
An amazing artist, and a very good album
This is pure dynamite, incredible energy
Oh just kill me now, this is the most depressing sh*t. I’m really trying to like it, after Hallelujah, and being a fellow Canadian, but I just can’t handle it
Haven’t heard this for a while, Connected is a great song. The rest is average
A very cool recording to add to my collection
It is so great to hear Neil Young, adding Crazy Horse is the icing on the cake. He has a huge catalog and this one doesn’t disappoint.
This was an unexpected pleasure
A true classic, it still sounds as great as it did the the first time!
Outstanding! I could listen to this for a long long time
Not a rap fan, this sounds just like so many other rap artists
So many great tracks, one can feel his frustration having so many great songs written and rejected by other Beatles. The remastered version uncovers more of George’s backing vocals.
Lot of yelling, musically not my taste
What a waste of talentless dribble, what record executive got payola for this one?
This album still rocks, and has some of the greatest rhythm guitar riffs ever.
Still so powerful and different, I loved it when it came out and have heard it over 100 times.
Loved Double Bass & Clint
Dylan is an amazing writer, but can’t sing for his life
One of my favorite Rolling Sones LPs
2 good songs and more synth-pop than I can handle
A number of good and a few great tunes
“Connection” is an excellent song, the rest is eh
One of my favorite versions of Sweet Jane
Brother brother, this ain’t so good
I have always loved this album, one of Bowie’s best
Good stuff but the backing vocals are dated
This is one of the worst pieces of crap, I have listen to from this list. Who buys this crap?
Not bad, but I’m not a fan of any Country music. It all sounds the same winey steel guitar
Not my taste and therefore quite boring
Just shoot me now, this was awful
Still an outstanding piece of work
Still outstanding writing and playing
One of the worst things I have had the displeasure of waisting time on. Giving this even 1 star is pushing it
Absolutely fantastic I still love every track! This transcends time and beams me back to the early 70’s. Smoke on the Water is one of the stand out tracks of this period of time, but there are so many other great tracks: Lazy is a great boogie-woogie tune with incredible organ, Highway Star rocks, and who could forget the driving Space Trucking. Definitely 1 of my 10 island picks
How can you compare this to so many of the other albums on the list, TOP of the HEAP!
Steely Dan just blows so many other recording artists away. The song Pretzel Logic is so good:
“I stand upon the platform
The man gave me the news:
He said you must be joking son
Where did you get those shoes?”
The guitar solo rocks, the organ and the piano rhythms blend so well. The horns and guitar licks near the end, are the icing on the cake This is one of my favourite Dan tracks.
Charlie Freak, so well written, and Rikki is outstanding.
I would have given this a 5 star, but there are a number of weaker tracks
Lost of great tunes too many duds (note to EJ: quality is better than quantity)
It was better back by then but I find it very depressing now
Haven’t heard it for a long time, but fell in love with it again
A few catchy tunes, but this has not aged well (what was i thinking when I was 13?)
If I could vote negative stars, this one would get a few. This is the worst piece of crap I have hear, how do these people get record deals?
Fun stuff, positive, great beats, it took me back with a big smile
This is one of the best T-Rex albums, Marc Bolin’s writing and singing and great, but his guitar playing is even better
Very bold to go solo after so much success with Genesis. This recording has so many different beautiful elements. Here comes the flood still gives me a chill, it is an incredible song
Most of these songs sound the same
Wow, still great, love it all
Why this dribble would even be considered on any list (except the worst of) is beyond me)
This has been one of my favorites since the first time I heard it in the early 70’s. It still holds up with so many solid songs that are still amazing
Duncan is my favorite Paul Simon song, but there are a number of so so songs
Why is this even on the list? A fabricated band played by actors
Blue eyes is back, with the same old dribble
Is there a minus star rating available?
Why any Abba album would be anywhere near this list blows my mind. I thought this was about GOOD music?
