The Police
2/5
Some great tracks, some okay tracks, some awful tracks. Overall, so-so.

Brian Wilson
1/5
Horrible album cover. How is this from the early 00s? It's Beach Boys Brian Wilson with absurd man-made animal sounds. How is the album on here?

Peter Gabriel
3/5
The only song I properly knew was Sledgehammer, although I would not have known the name of artists if asked. Very solid classic 80s album.
Marvin Gaye
5/5
Feel good music, cool vibes. Fantastic start to the album, with the party acoustics. Love it.
Elton John
4/5
Not a fan of the first track, but is luckily followed by golden oldies like Candle in the Wind and Bennie and the Jets. Classic Elton, and feel good vibes.
Adele
5/5
Can't go wrong with Adele. Such a fantastic album. Absolutely love it!
Louis Prima
4/5
Just a Gigolo / I Ain't Got Nobody is hands down the best medley known to man. Love it!
Neil Young
5/5
Such a phenomenal album. Love Neil Young's voice. Kind of music that makes you want to close your eyes and just take in the lyrics and sway with the music.
Unfortunately not available on Spotify, but can be streamed on other platforms.
CHVRCHES
4/5
Takes me back to my university years. Lovely. Can't believe this album is already 10 years old.
Roxy Music
4/5
Love me some Roxy. Not my favorite Roxy Music album, but still Bryan+Brian=<3
Fugees
5/5
Strong memories to my childhood. Great album that ages incredibly well.
The Isley Brothers
5/5
I first heard the Isley Brothers in the OST for Jackie Brown by Tarentino. I really dig this sort of music, especially That Lady, Pts. 1 and 2 and Summer Breeze, Pts. 1 and 2 - probably because I've listened most to those tracks, but the entire album is great.
The Smiths
5/5
Love the Smiths, Morrissey's iconic voice and honest lyrics resonate with me. This is not my most played album of theirs, but their entire catalog is great. This collection is no less.
AC/DC
2/5
I feel like AC/DC should be reserved for OST scoring. I don't think I'd ever put this on deliberately. Wouldn't say it's bad, just not for me.
Bob Dylan
3/5
I like Bob Dylan, I just don't love him. The album is good for background, a couple of very familiar songs on the album, but not my favorites of his.
John Coltrane
3/5
Good background music, but not something I would remember to intentionally put on.
Lou Reed
4/5
Classic Lou Reed, with favorites like 'Perfect Day', 'Walk on the Wild Side' and the lovely 'Satellite of Love'.
The Doors
2/5
Very unremarkable I'm afraid. Not to my taste. Not bad, just cannot remember any specific redeeming details the day after.
Nas
4/5
90s East-Side Hip-Hop, although I probably know these songs more as samples in new hip-hop. But there are classics like 'It Ain't Hard to Tell' and 'The World is Yours'. Such smooth tracks, exactly what I like best in the genre.
Frank Zappa
2/5
Basically a 45 minute guitar solo. Something to have lulling in the background.
Peter Gabriel
2/5
Peter Gabriel is the first artist I get the second album in this series. Must say I like the previous entry, So, better.
Al Green
5/5
I love the sound of Al Green's voice. There's nothing to fault this album. Absolutely love it.
Jazmine Sullivan
4/5
It reminds me of a girl-Frank Ocean (in particular channel ORANGE). I've never heard of Jazmine Sullivan before, but it's an instant liking. I can see myself listen to this album again and again.
Kraftwerk
5/5
Revolutionary and iconic music!
Bob Dylan
4/5
Second Bob Dylan album, with classics such as "Tangled up in Blue" and "Shelter from the Storm". Easy listening.
Guns N' Roses
3/5
Appropriate for end-of-week entry. Many fantastic tracks, but everything else is very meh! Nice dash of 80s glam rock to set me off for the weekend.
Alanis Morissette
5/5
One of my first albums I owned, at age 10. I listened to this album so much. I definitely did not understand the lyrics at the time, but I know all these tracks by heart. I appreciate it even more today.
The Chemical Brothers
2/5
An hours worth of continuous trip hop. Not my favorite album of theirs, but good background music.
The Stone Roses
3/5
I was surprised how old this album was. I thought it would be mid-to-late 90s, instead of 1989. Few very known bangers, but otherwise not that memorable.
Bob Dylan
4/5
All these Bob Dylan albums I've heard in the past few weeks all sound the same to me. But easy listening and very familiar tracks.

4/5
Takes me back to my university years. Funny how music can take you back in time.
Marianne Faithfull
3/5
I've had heard of Marianne Faithfull before, but I don't recall having listened to her. Pleasantly surprised, I always assumed she did a totally different genre. I like it.
Iron Butterfly

I love seeing electro albums from 2000s on here, I have such a vivid memory from this period. I played this particular album so much, and the first few cords are instantly recognizable. And each song after the other. This was when I really loved finding and discovering new music. I haven't listened to this in a long time, but it feels like home.

I know "Our Lips are Sealed" so well through Nouvelle Vague cover albums, and I love hearing their original forms.
David Bowie
3/5
Not my favorite of his.
George Michael
4/5
Peak 90s George Michael, one of England's most renowned singer-songwriters. Freedom! '90 is the most iconic of the album, but there are other great songs in its midst. For instance, the opening song, Praying for Time, sets the album to a great start.
Supergrass
4/5
I remember this album cover vividly. Supergrass is a classic 90s English alternative rock band. Alright is by far the most recognizable (of Alicia Silverstone's Clueless OST fame), and Caught by the Fuzz is also quite memorable from the era.
A feelgood 90s britpop.
R.E.M.
3/5
Pure 90s nostalgia
Coldplay
5/5
One of the first alternative rock bands I admired, I knew this album by heart - ah to be young again
Mekons
3/5
It sounds familiar, but somehow not. But I guess I've listened to so much 80s indie Brit-pop for that to be the case
The United States Of America
3/5
I thought this was the Presidents of the United States of America, which it definitely is not. Instead of early 90s American rock it was a late 60s experimental rock.
The Garden of Earthly Delights (a nice homage to Hieronymus Bosch) is by far the most digestible. The other songs are okay, but other than tGoED I wouldn't seek out this album.
Destiny's Child
3/5

I don't think this music would hold as well it it wasn't for the massive nostalgic feels that it brings.
Jimi Hendrix
2/5
Not my jam
Nina Simone
5/5
Love Simone.
Neil Young
5/5
Love Neil Young
Tito Puente
4/5

George Michael
5/5
Late 80s extravaganza!

Love this album, I listened to this album so much back in the day. Stillness in the Move is still one of my all time favorite songs.
Nick Drake
5/5
I Love Nick Drake. The first few seconds into the first tracks are instant homecoming, so serene and lovely.
Santana
5/5
I assumed this was younger, but apparently, it's the 70s. Classic Santana
Sonic Youth
3/5
Sonic Youth peaked before my adolescence, so I vaguely remember them from the 90s. But the music's zeitgeist is familiar.
Echo And The Bunnymen
4/5
I first learned about Echo and The Bunnymen through Nouvelle Vague's rendition of "Killingmoon". But I like the old new wave style.
Count Basie & His Orchestra
3/5
The cover of the album (an atomic bomb) does not indicate the content, which is a big-band style orchestra (without singing).
Derek & The Dominos
3/5
I only knew Layla before, but otherwise, I thought Derek & the Dominos were a one-hit-wonder. Which it kind of is. But Layla is such a legendry track.
The White Stripes
4/5
Music of my youth. Seven Nation Army was an anthem song at the time. I had a particular affinity with the Hardest Button to Button. Great album, quintessential indie rock of the early 00s.
David Bowie
4/5
Bowie's ★ final album, is emotional. A stark contrast to his 70-80s glam rock. I prefer the glam, but in the right mood this would do nicely.
Radiohead
5/5
One of the greatest albums of all time.
Lupe Fiasco
1/5
This is very underwhelming. Don't really care for this.
The Cardigans
2/5
Lovefool was one of my favorite songs growing up; it was track nr six on an Icelandic compilation CD, "Pottþétt 5" (I misremembered it as nr five, but it is pretty amazing. I almost remember that some 28years later).
I'm not familiar with their other songs, but I listened to the Cardigans quite a bit through Icelandic radio, which seems not.
The Beta Band
2/5
I remember some of these songs, but I think I remember samples of them rather than these songs as is.
The Velvet Underground
4/5

3/5
In late 70s prog rock, their music has a distinctive good-times happiness air about it.
John Lennon
5/5
Such beautiful piano arrangements.
The Byrds
3/5
Old timey, 60s music. Nice change from my normal repertoire.
Bonnie Raitt
1/5

3/5
Classic early 80s (although technically late 70s)
Deep Purple
4/5
Smoke on the Water on other timeless tracks, live version that's really great.
The Temptations
5/5
Love old motown music
Björk
4/5
I must admit I've not listened to too much of her newer works, but the addition of the symphony is pristine.
The Clash
2/5
I like "London Calling" more but there are some quintessential punk songs like 'Police and Thieves' on this album.
Led Zeppelin
4/5
Stairway to Heaven is such a timeless track.
Serge Gainsbourg
4/5
I quite like Gainsbourg, but I guess that's partly because my French isn't good enough to realize how incestuous most of his lyrics are.
The Police
2/5
Some great tracks, some okay tracks, some awful tracks. Overall, so-so.
Nirvana
4/5
Songs of my youth.
Miles Davis
3/5
Nice background music
Les Rythmes Digitales
1/5
I recognize the samples used from the album, but I don't really care for the album overall.
Eagles
4/5
Some amazing tracks. Great album showcasing late 70s rock.
Megadeth
1/5
This is not my cup of tea. Absolutely hate this genre.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
4/5
I've mostly listened to Nick Cave's earlier work, but this is also top-notch. I should listen to more of his work.
De La Soul
2/5
I've listened to some other De La Soul album that I liked much more, but this was kind of meh.
The Monks
2/5
This album is unavailable on Spotify in my region, except for a few songs. But it's old-timey punk rock. It's not something I'd listen to myself, but it would work well in some OSTs for sure.
Nightmares On Wax
4/5
Very laid-back downtempo trip-hop. I quite like it.
Elbow
4/5
Easy listening, I could see myself listening to this again. But this has completely gone under my radar.
Michael Kiwanuka

To be young again. Not their best album, but good nonetheless.
Guided By Voices

I don't really care for this.
ZZ Top
4/5
Classic 80s rock. For the right mood, it's great.
808 State
3/5
Feels futuristic.
Dusty Springfield
5/5
I love Dusty. I had a massive Dusty period around the early 2000s.
Jimmy Smith
2/5
Not really for me. But alright, I guess.
The Young Rascals
4/5
This is actually quite lovely happy-go-lucky 60s pop music.
Kendrick Lamar
5/5
Fantastic album. I used to listen to this a lot a decade ago.
Dead Kennedys
1/5
Not really my cup of tea. Not bad punk per-say, just not my genre of choice.

5/5
Such an iconic opening, 'Running Up That Hill'.
Neil Young
5/5
I love Neil Young. It just works.
Cream
3/5
Okay psychedelic rock from the 60s
Gram Parsons
2/5
70s country. Not for me, except for Love Hurts. That's quite known and is lovely.
Manic Street Preachers
2/5
Manic Street Preachers are very recognizable as a 90s staple, but for the most part this is not the rock music for me.
Iggy Pop
4/5
Such a great intro, Lust of Life, is so instantly recognizable. Classic.
Frank Ocean
4/5
I wore this album out in 2012.

Sex Pistols
1/5
Not for me
Ice T
3/5
Alright. but I prefer my hip-hop more lyrical.

4/5
I love 'If There is Something' and its split personality. I first heard it in 2008, 'Flashbacks of a Fool' starring Daniel Craig, and I was immediately enamored.
Quicksilver Messenger Service
3/5
Some of these songs are very familiar, and I've definitely heard them before. But not this version, e.g. Who do you love - pt.1 - I knew it from the OG Bo Diddly or George Thorogood's version.
The Smashing Pumpkins
4/5
Teenage angst at it best
David Bowie
3/5
Besides Heroes, I'm not a fan. I prefer glam rock Bowie

He's a pinball wizard. But otherwise I don't really remember listening to this before.

Pure 80s. Love the Aran sweaters on the album cover.

4/5
Epic opening song, the instrumental 'Green Onions'.
Stevie Wonder
5/5
Lovely Stevie Wonder <3
The Pogues
4/5
This is a folk album for my boyfriend, he listens to it all the time. Not my cup of tea, but he loves it. So I like it.
1/5
Feels like I've heard this before. But it's not really memorable; it's kind of generic 80s punk. Kind of forgettable Romones wannabe.
The Jam
3/5
Ah, it has 'That's Entertainment' - old school 80s new wave.
Van Halen
2/5
Not for me
Deep Purple
3/5
Smoke on the water and other prog rock tracks
Richard Thompson
2/5
Bit boring
1/5
Not available in my Spotify region, YouTube works. But it’s no loss, this album is not for me
Brian Wilson
1/5
Horrible album cover. How is this from the early 00s? It's Beach Boys Brian Wilson with absurd man-made animal sounds. How is the album on here?
Crosby, Stills & Nash
4/5
Love Crosby, Stills & Nash
5/5
One of my all-time favorite albums. Such a classic. Bowie at his best!
John Martyn
1/5
Bit whiny for my taste.
Magazine
2/5
Ah, this is the original of Parade - I knew it first from my all-time favorite Nouvelle Vague, 3rd album simply titled 3.
But otherwise, it is basic UK new-age music.
Prince
3/5
I recently listened to a great podcast on Too Much Information about the movie, and I've been meaning to listen to it ever since. Perfect timing.
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
3/5
There are quite a few classics here, American Girl without a doubt the most famous. Late 70s American rock.
Bruce Springsteen
4/5
It's a great album, with classics like Thunder Road and Born to Run. Classic American Rock.
Bruce Springsteen
3/5

fIREHOSE
2/5
Meh, not for me
Yes
1/5
Not available on spotify in my region, which is no loss. The youtube version was pretty underwhelming. Quite a few duds these past few days.
The War On Drugs
4/5
I actually quite like this album. I’ve heard some songs before but didn’t recognise the band name. Reminds me of old school American rock, but has some nice indie synth elements
James Taylor
4/5
I really enjoy this old school 70s American rock / country genre.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
4/5
Such power and energy. Just wow!
Scissor Sisters
4/5
This takes me back. The first four songs where on so many mixtapes I made back in the early 2000s. I really enjoyed hearing Filthy/Gorgeous, I've not heard that in almost 2 decades.
The first time I heard Comfortably Numb was on this album, so I was very surprised to hear it was actually a cover song.
Pink Floyd
5/5
I really love the harmonies and all the unusual instruments used in their arrangements. Such a phenomenal progressive rock album.
Foo Fighters
3/5
This is so old. This is Foo Fighters' earliest album. I'm more familiar with their work almost a decade later. But you can hear their core characteristics.
Leonard Cohen
3/5
I prefer his other albums. Not that it's bad, just the others are better.
Duran Duran
3/5
Pure 80s pop. Although not as many hits as I remembered.

The Wu Tang is nothing to fuck with. Takes me back to my youth.
5/5
Such a stellar album.
Skepta
1/5
I hate this. Couldn't wait for it to be over.
The Strokes
4/5
Talk about nostalgia, but the sound quality is really bad. There is a definite "can" sound to the album, which does not age well. But so many of these songs were anthems in my youth, so I can't give them a low grade.
AC/DC
3/5
It's all right.
Aretha Franklin
5/5
Love her work.
Miles Davis
2/5
Not for me
Dr. John
1/5
Not very memorable, but I do remember thinking this was not for me.
Mike Oldfield
2/5
Isn't this the theme from the Exorcist?! Epic song, but does it need an hour long extended version? I don't think so.
Traffic
2/5
I can only think of "John Tucker Must Die" - which ages me. Neither good nor bad
3/5
It's all right. But not incredibly memorable. I did quite enjoy the collaboration tracks featuring Thom Yorke.
Joni Mitchell
5/5
Such a lovely and serene album.
CHIC
5/5
It's a fantastic album; I love the disco vibes.
Tim Buckley
2/5
I prefer his son, although it's alright in the background. Just nothing compared to Jeff Buckley.

1/5
Absolutely hate it, no redeeming qualities about it. Not for me.
Electric Light Orchestra
5/5
I love this album. So many fantastic feel-good tracks!
Echo And The Bunnymen
3/5
80s new wave, I tend to listen instead to Ocean Rain (because of the Killing Moon), but this is definitely in the same vein.
Ray Price
2/5
Old school start. I seriously doubt I'd ever intentionally listen to this again. But it is an interesting change of pace.
Gang Of Four
2/5
It's reminds me of The Jam's "The Entertainment", however I prefer the Jam. But otherwise okay-ish early new wave.
Led Zeppelin
3/5
Iconic start to an album.
The Rolling Stones
5/5
Fantastic album.

1/5
Kind of same-same. Reggae isn't my scene either really.

All right, has the 'season of the witch', but I dont feel very drawn to it.
SAULT
1/5
I found this to be quite boring...

Creedence Clearwater Revival
2/5
It's allright.
Radiohead
5/5
Love this opening to this album.
Killing Joke
1/5
Not for me. I must admit, even though I listened to this only yesterday, I can't remember the album. Very unmemorable.
Ian Dury
1/5
I guess this album is on here due to the lyrics, but since they don't resonate with me, I couldn't care less. The music itself is not remarkable.
M.I.A.
2/5
I was hoping this would be Kala, which is an album of hers that I loved and listened to quite a lot back in the day. Unfortunately this didnt click with me.
Frank Sinatra
4/5
Nice change of pace from previous albums. Can't go wrong with Blue Eyes.
Pink Floyd
4/5
More of a musical than an album.
Ash
1/5
Not for me.
Christina Aguilera
2/5
Did not expect to see this here, but having been 17yo girl when this came out, I know most of these tracks intimately.
Wouldn't say this ages well, but definitely gives me nostalgia.
Emmylou Harris
2/5
Never heard of her, and not particularly interested in this album.
Jack White
3/5
I prefer it when Meg is part of the band.
Arcade Fire
5/5
I listened to this album very regularly. The last time was just this past weekend. Arcade Fire is my all-time favorite band, and it's hard to decide which of their albums is best. I think Neon Bible would win, but Funeral was the first. However, I saw the band touring again when they were promoting Suburbs. Anyway, this is a stellar album that I will continue to listen to for years to come.
The Afghan Whigs
1/5
Not my style.
Blur
3/5
Old-school Britpop. To be in elementary school again!
George Harrison
4/5
So many serene songs. George Harrison is such an under appreciated Beatle.

4/5
Some great tracks, but I'm more of a Beatles gal.
A Tribe Called Quest
3/5
It's all right, but I've heard better hip-hop albums from that era
Coldplay
5/5
This was such an influential band and album, during those formative teenage years.
Slade
1/5
So not my style. I can't wait for the album to be over.
Spiritualized
1/5
What on Earth is this? The genre is so-called space rock. What is that? Definitely not for me.
Rush
2/5
It's an okay early 80s prog rock. But not something I seem myself coming back to.
Sly & The Family Stone
3/5
I’ve heard better Sly and The family stone album, but it’s allright
Elvis Presley
3/5
Shorter album than I expected. Otherwise some golden oldies.
Marvin Gaye
3/5
Instant feel-good vibes with the first track, then it gets a bit bland
Fiona Apple
2/5
Alright, but nothing spectacular.
Elvis Presley
3/5
I think Suspicious Minds is my favorite Elvis song, and In the Ghetto is quite good. Others kind of bland.
Iron Maiden
1/5
This is no not my kind of music.
Kanye West
3/5

2/5
I'm not a Costello fan, I find it s quite meh.
Fleet Foxes
5/5
Ethereal music.
