Favourite album so far! Although started good, middle/end it became rambling, but finished well 😁
Struggle with Springsteen 😔
Wished I hadn't listened to it
Heard it all, but can appreciate how amazing it was in its day
New favourite album so far 🥰 (Dec 5th 21)
Loooooved it. In my top 5 so far
The godfathers of metal, but before it became too heavy to handle. Loved it
Experimental, loved it. Baby's on fire was my faves
Bob dylan is only alright for me. I don't think I jibe.
Was gutted when it finished, played it again straight away.
Listened to this a lot when I was 19, still rate it.
I liked it as soon as I heard the line "Someday I want to smack you in the face" in the first song. I enjoyed the rest too, particularly the Peaches song 🥰
Well it was definitely what it proclaimed it was - Funkadelic 😍
I tried, but I couldn't 😪
Not gonna lie, the music was OK. Wouldn't listen to it again - but that might be because the names were throwing me off. I had this feeling of wanting to throw the names of the songs at a wall 👻
Gal is cray, and it's okay, but I think I'll only listen to this today 🤷♀️
If I lived in the 60s I would put this album on and be happy all day long 🧡
😑 sounds like a mish mash to me, all the instruments sound indistinct, the vocals sound all floofy. I would describe the album as mostly floofy.
Growing up I never really liked Love Shack or Rock Lobster, which was all I knew of the B-52's. The entire album is exciting and unique, ahead of its time maybe. Took me on a trip, that's for sure!
Appreciate, goodbye Maryanne 🥰
There's too much punk in this list of albums 😮💨
Cried. Loved. Absolute genius.a
Average, this should stay in the 80s.
Yeah, cool. I didn't think I was that into Aerosmith, but I can definitely appreciate 😁
Has entered the realm of "yeah its a classic, but I would also be happy if I never listened to it again"
Omg straight up to my top 5 albums so far! So goooood 🥰
She's the coolest girl I know 😍 So clever with lyrics and style, easy 5.
I really like this, the guitar is absolutely mesmerizing. I had no idea who Jeff Beck was or that the Jeff Beck group contained Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood. Love it!
Love wu-tang, listening to Method Man extends that, and generates a banging song radio afterwards too
Beautiful and homely, feel reeeeal cozy listening to it
I just can't really take any more punk, might revisit this at a later date 😪
I have never heard of Rufus Wainwright and therefore feel unqualified to talk about him or his genre, which I have never made myself listen to before.
I think the first half was a bit slow and had to really restrain myself from turning it off and returning at a later date (never). Now that I'm getting towards the end Crumb by Crumb ain't too bad, I feel like the mood has lifted - kind of reminiscent to me of Robbie Williams.
Listened to this in repeat since it came out when I was in high school. It's the sound of my youth ❤
I've always loved this album through my 20s and marveled at the absolute genius of kanye west. Now that I'm older, I still marvel at the musical genius but did this self-indulgent lyrical bullsh need to be spewed into the world. Maybe not, or maybe. I'll still give him four stars because the music moves me
He's so beautiful, he makes my heart burst!
I wasn't terribly fazed in the beginning but it slowly grew on me and then found the highlight was the last track "Giant"
Loooong album, smoke on the water is awesome and then a couple with a cool vibe
Yeah, good. Actually a pretty fun time :)
Kinda boring. Maybe good at the time, maybe revolutionary... I'm not sure. And I probably won't ever really know 🤷🏾♀️
I'm not really liking the vibe that they be putting down
I will always love Missy Elliott, purely for the fact that she was one of my first favourite artists as a young 13 year old back in 2002 - she was so forward, so fresh and all her - and the same goes for the album. Amazing 👏🏾
Amazing. Like blew my mind amazing!
Yeah. OK. Yup... I wouldn't listen to it again. But I can definitely dig
Yeah cool, it didn't grab me or anything and I wasn't sure what or who I was listening to until Everybody's Talkin came on. I feel like if I find the time to do a bit of backstop and looking up lyrics then I might have a fresh set of eyes to listen to it, and perhaps a few extra stars
I always maintained that I didn't actually like Oasis, but mind changed.
It started out take or leave and then somewhere around Supersonic it got me. Then it just went from there and by the last song, I was well in.
I thought it was the drummer that hooked me because gosh damn that drumming is epic... but then the last song had no drumming and in fact, sealed the five stars. Love it. LOVE IT.
Well it's very 80s innit.
This is absolutely beautiful. I like it like I like meditation - it's so beautiful and calming and I really hope I can dedicate more time to it... but I'll probably end up going high intensity as I usually do. But would love to listen again 😁
It's a five from me. Aside from the obvious banger Psycho Killer and Psycho Killer acoustic (which we managed to get the 1 year old to sing along to 🎶 ) I loved the debut album, Sugar on my tongue, First Week/Last Week and Pulled Up we're bangers too. I'm going to go listen to more and rewatch some YouTube Clips of them 🫠
Ohhhhh the strokes... this is quintessential 🤩
It's like meeting someone really really nice and they're so nice that you find it tricky to get on with them. They're just too nice in comparison to me... a grub 😅 So in conclusion this is nothing on you Nick Drake, it's me.
Not sure about this one, it's disjointed imo. Very young and feminine sound. It's definitely enjoyable and I would listen to it again, but it also sounds like she listened to every popular genre at the time and did her version of it, which no doubt requires serious talent... just needs more flow
Only 2, too far in time and space away from me...
Um uneventful is the best way I can describe this for me
First I was struck by the instrumentals, less fussed on the vocals... but the instrumentals eventually became monumental and beyond beautiful. I thought this was a 3.5, a one and done. But now I think I'll put it in the listen again pile. Particularly towards the end
Only listened to the first 3-4 songs, but my wavelengths didn't quite settle into these jams
Ugh, used to think nothing of this - it was beyond cool at the time of release and unlike anyone else. Unapologetic. Now that I'm 34 and a mom, I'm going a bit Karen on this 😪
Epic! Took me to another time and place for sure!
I had no idea who this was, until I started getting through it and knew heaps of the songs.
My favourite is the coconut song and I'm pretty excited to finally know the originator of this.
Five out of five stars!
First thoughts: Noise? Now on Central Control and I'm intrigued as ****... what is this?? Need the back-story to this. Sounds from the Big House: Sax! 😎😎 I'm all in. The piano in Everything Happens to Me! Glorious. Autodestruction, no. Lost me for a bit but finished strong with Man with a Golden Arm. Well, that was a piece of art, I don't care what anyone says!
Such a vibe, I understand the hype of Sinatra now 🤩
Better than I thought it would be and stayed that way which is great!
Talented for sure, but not really my kind of music. Except for Someone Like You, that's a banger!
She's an absolute treasure 🥰
OK, fourth song in - I think I'll throw the towel in on this one
Meh, kind of one dimensional. Worth a listen once but wouldn't pick it up again. Thanks Lana :)
Better than I expected, some thing I liked some I didnt
This is absolutely amazing, cozy and sweet. I am in love ❤️
Started great but the last song was too long and messy. Steely Dan vibes... loved the funk
Beautiful - apart from Rainy Day Woman. Never want to hear that again. The rest was mesmerizing, and a killer song radio afterwards as well for extra points!
I got through it and it was OK 👍🏽
Always loved Brass in Pocket, and a few others on this album are OK too. Might listen again
Always loved Take Me Out and always will. Gave me some extra listening for sure 😌
Love. Fricken love a good instrumental and made by two absolute legends. Glorious.
I think amount of times I've heard these songs over the years has made me take them for granted. I didnt realize these all came out on one album - I imagine it would've been mind blowing to hear them all for the first time when it was first released. I wish I could've been there.
I thought this would be spooky but it wasn't
Love Johnny Cash, his vibe, his performances, his story telling. I love that he worked with Shel Silverstein, one of the greatest poets. I love June Carter Cash - the prisoners! It's all just the best 👌🏾
Too alternative, I couldn't get a handle
Ooooh, so deep. Such a valuable manifestation of its time - I honestly knew nothing about Ice T, but this is so direct, visceral and on some topics - ahead of his time. Absolutely agree with everything he has to say and to put the words to music... I feel you, Ice T, I feel you 😘
I LOVE this, so smooth and just like... a good time
Um, not feeling it too much
Beautiful and poetic, voices like angels but ultimately it wasn't me
First time through I was perplexed, but then it grew on me. Then I felt like the world was a better place through their musings and I'm genuinely glad I heard this. I'm not sure if I would ever listen again, but worth the listen :)
Favourite review from the reviews that already exist of this album and that describes this album perfectly:
Not bussin
I understand I need to listen to the lyrics but thought it was Tom Jones reminiscent and can get on board with
Psychedelic fun and smoothness. A lovely listen 🩵
OK- loved the vibe and brass band in the grand finale :)
No thanks. I don't want to listen to this. I read the reviews before calling it quits... based on that I skipped ahead to Freaknik (seems to be a love/hate track). I found that I was relieved to finally hear a person in what otherwise feels like a desert of monotonous machine beeps, but otherwise it continues with monotony and so I called it quits.
Not terrible, but I've already listened to Tom Waits and liked that better
Awesome af. Will listen many MANY more times 😝
Don't mind this for a bit of cultural experience, taking me to another time and place. Worth the experience 👌🏾
I liked to begin with but got kinda sick of as it went on
OK, but didn't inspire me
Sorry Barry Adamson, I had a good time with your last album that's on here. But this one went above my head 😂 I think my fault, not yours
Wow. I don't even hate this!
Remade rock n Roll? Not sure what the achievement is here
I understand the popular appeal of Bon Jovi, but I personally don't understand. It's a three.
Oh my gosh. Banger, absolute banger!
Few bangers, not massively cohesive but she's an absolute legend and I would over anything she does 🥰
Absolute vibe to put on, on a Saturday in the summer afternoon with a few beers 🍻🌞
My favourite of Nick Caves albums so far
Looooooved it, absolute vibe
Love a good flash back to my latest teens/early 20s. This album fully resonates with what was going on my life. Kings of Leon were just beyond good, so genius. This album is there most popular, but all their albums before this one belong on this list, no question!
I love Killing in the Name (obviously) but was unprepared for the screaming so early in the morning. Will revisit whe. The mood is right
Wow the vocals alone are a 5!
Don't mind a bit of 90s Brit Pop!
Stevie Wonder always makes me happy, it's beautiful and as always beautiful thought provoking lyrics
Eeire and Moody, loves it
This was unexpectedly awesome!!!
I generally like this type of music, and enjoyed the playful lyrics. 😌
The good ones are sublime, the other ones are good. Mama Cass and Michelle Phillips are amazing vocalists 🤩
Good mems! I was never into this when it came out, but I was around 15 and the boys were drooling over her especially Dirrrrrty 😂 I never really took any inspiration from her other songs that were written to be more inspiring and uplifting... because as usual as a kid - I never listened... I only saw what was going on.
So yeah, a bit of a bop on some songs, powerful voice, some really average pop songs. I listened to the entire thing without even trying and want to do it again 😁
I don't really understand Madonna 🤔
Like a Talking Heads album, but not as catchy
Love radio headphones but this is too experimental for me to enjoy
Took a few listens but I actually really love the vibes!
Loved fix up look sharp and just a rascal growing up. Still do, but I don’t understand the album. The lyrics make me feel yuck
Love this, has all the Steely Dan bangers!
It was definitely a vibe, some I enjoyed and some not so much.
I don’t get it/over my head?
Loved it! Will definitely listen again!
Lyrics provide feels, the music is slightly dated but gives a charm. The gangsta rap sentiment makes my eyes roll 🙄
This music has soul! I love it!
I thought that Definitely Maybe was incredible but I think this one is better. Love it! Adding to the record collection ✊🏾
Love Radiohead but the vibe of this album is slightly dreary for me, which is not bad in itself but a dreary vibe needs a few sing along/belters to help the audience (me) get into the vibe. 3?
