The Marshall Mathers LP
EminemToo much swearing. Why is it so long?

Apart from the tracks I had already heard there wasn’t much to this album. The good songs are good. The rest of the album is raking over the same Morrissey ground
Hard to pick a favourite as they were all somewhat similar. Enjoyed it, but I we definitely background music.
Can’t think of a better opening three songs on a debut. An incredible piece of work and full of ideas. Excellent.

Not exactly cheerful. But a solid album and I can see the argument for some grunge albums to be on the list. Made me wonder what made all these Seattle lead singers decide to sing in the same way. Most of the songs were too long Clearly they have an excellent guitarist.
Seems like I might not like John Lennon, now I know. Imagine - massively overplayed and not a good song. Extremely wealthy man tells people to imagine there’s no possessions. Jealous Guy - Bryan Ferry did it better, and his version isn’t tinged by being sung by a wife beater. Most of the rest of the album felt like sub Beatles filler. Some really great keyboard work redeems some of it. Seems like the Beatles must have helped John Lennon not to write shit songs quite a lot. Can’t imagine listening to this again this lifetime.
Never heard this before. Thought it was a great mix of electronic and post punk. No one would accuse him of being a great singer, but it works
All the singles are excellent. One of my favourite REM albums. The start of side two is less good, but still good, and what an excellent ending. A very strong album. Excellent arrangements. I think the album can be summed up in two words. Beautiful and sad.
Some really great songs on this album. Will definitely listen again. Animal Nitrate was the only one I recognised but Sleeping Pills, So Young and the Next Life were all very strong. Excellent guitar work. A really impressive debut
Ten days in and we have our first five star album. Makes me more glad that I didn’t use five stars for any other albums where I considered it, this is a cut above. Rudy Can’t Fail, Spanish Bombs and Lost in the Supermarket stood out of this listen through. Makes the 72 minutes wasted on the Marshall Mathers LP seem even worse when compared. Unlike John Lennon’s Imagine, this showed so much imagination. Really another level.
Just some people doing an impression of music from 50/60/70 years ago. Did we need this? I've not heard much that made me think there was any originality. Not offensive in any way, but not innovative either. Wouldn’t listen again; it sounds like people doing an impression of an older band. Cliches abound.
Certainly not the best Bowie, but a solid album. I enjoyed how does the grass grow and love is lost This was fine not incredible
