Mostly fine but ultimately not for me.

I've not fully listened to AC/DC before this, only catching them on the radio. Great album! Definitely want to check out more of them now

Good beats and good songs. Not all were a hit, but had some stand outs

I never cared for their radio hits so had never put on the album. There were a couple good tunes that weren't on the radio, but I found myself looking at the playlist often and hoping it would be wrapping up soon

Love this album, a 4.5 star album if I've ever heard one but I have to give it a 4 due to 'You Make it Easy' being on the album. The only skippable track on it.

I can see why most of the tracks here were put on the best of album. The remaining tracks that weren't on the best of aren't great unfortunately, leading to an unbalanced album as a whole

There are a lot of movies, books, and tv shows about bad people. This is another one. The music is great however, and I'm pretty sure that not understanding French is a plus.

I haven't listened to much of Prodigy, but I really enjoyed this one. Some songs went on a little long which is why it's getting a 3 instead of 4

Unfortunately this came just a day after a Prodigy album, and boy has the technology changed. I understand they were hugely influential to this style of music, but I've never been able to get into them really.

Some fun and funky tunes. Jaques Your Body Makes me Sweat, About funk, and Music makes you lose control are the standouts for me. The first track is just a bummer for some reason, almost turned me off the entire album. I'll likely pop this back on at some point.

Back in the day I had a roommate with a 25 CD boombox. 10 of the slots were filled with Dave Matthews Band, the 11th was this album, the rest were empty. Fatboy Slim was a breath of fresh air whenever that came on the random playlist. Still just a great album.

Not sure how this is labeled as a rock band, it's adult contemporary/easy listening at best. After the first 3 songs I started skipping songs after a minute if it didn't catch me, so I listened to a minute of the rest of the album. Hefty no thank you.

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this record. I don't like Every Breath You Take and I give or take the other radio hits, but the non-radio tracks were the real stars here. Very good

I first heard of Abba because I had a cat named Fernando. Everyone kept asking if I named him after the Abba song, so I checked them out. I almost considered changing his name, but I named him Fernando because it just fit him. I still miss him, he was the sweetest kitty ever. Any way, Abba. No thanks. I'm not a pop fan, and this is just disco flavored pop music with all songs sounds pretty similar enough. It's not hateful, but it's just bland.

A good mix of African and American music. I probably won't go back to this again, but I'm glad I listened to it.

This is live album number 3 in the last 4 days. Still annoying. I get that this live album was their debut, but still has all the trapping of live albums: bad sound quality, unfun banter, and just being annoying.

A group of people come across a brick of cocaine and a pile of instruments. After doing all the coke they decide to see who can play an instrument the fastest. The German noise band was way more interesting than this one

I have to be in the right mood for singer/songwriter style music where it's just a person and their guitar. Also not helping is the fact that I've never cared for anything Springsteen has done, and this did not change my mind.

The lyrics for sure don't hold up anymore, and the music is fine. I've always enjoyed Cathy's Clown and didn't know that the Nazereth song Love Hurts was actually a cover of the Everly Brothers.

I really love Automatic for the people, and when I've listened to their other albums they jut don't click. Having said that, I did also enjoy this album. The introduction of the mandolin in their work was a good move.

I have mixed feelings on this one. It was their first album I listened to, and I dug it. That was 25 years ago at this point, and my taste in metal has grown a lot since then. I liked this album at the time, but it doesn't really hold up for me. It's got some good stuff, but the overall tone just doesn't sit well with me anymore.

I really dig the metal/grunge music but this band always eluded me. Of course I heard all their big hits, and I think that's what drove me away. The songs were fine, but never really captured me. The rest of the album is great and I'm kinda bummed I missed out on them for so long. Will for sure be listening to them more now

This is a very good album if lyrics are important to you. I see the vocals and lyrics as an instrument and don't really pay attention to what they're saying unless it's something truly inane. Musically it's a very good album, I just don't tend to listen to singer/songwriter stuff

Good album! I remember hearing Band on the Run as a child and then being confused later in life when I couldn't find it on a Beatles album.

It was fine? Nothing really stuck out to me except the dance floor song, and that's mostly because I heard it a bunch when it first came out. I suppose the best part of this album is that I woke up this morning with my mind playing "I wish that you looked good on the dance floor... ", so that's kind of amusing.

Make it sound unique, but also so familiar that anyone will be able to at least hum along with it the first time they hear it." I'm sure there's more to it, but is sure doesn't sound like it. I'm completely out of the hype loop on this one

This was going to be a solid 3 star for me, an enjoyable funk/soul live show. It went a bit downhill when they started the 10+ minute drum solo on the final track. Maybe it's because I'm not a drummer, but anything longer than a minute or two and it's a "you had to be there" kind of thing.

I've said it before; singer/songer-writer and lyrics first albums are going to have a tough time getting a good rating for me. That said, this album is beautiful. One of the best minimalist albums I've listened to. I think a big part of it is that I'm also a big Beck fan, and I can hear how much influence Nick Drake has had on Beck in this album. Also one of the first albums here that ended and I immediately replayed it. Love it.

Went into this with a more negative frame of mind since I really don't care about Beyonce or pop music, but was pleasantly surprised by it. This is probably better than anything I've heard by Beyonce, but it's still not my style of music at all.

Started off on a great, funky note then slowly turned into R&B. I prefer a funky sound personally.

Great harmonies and tunes. I had never really looked up M&Ps before this and didn't realize they were only a band for a small number of years. Got some incredible hits out of them in this time.

Fun fact, I heard a cover of 'Where's your head at' on my way into work this morning and was struggling to remember the name of the original artist. Then I open up this page to get my album of the day and see Basement Jaxx; what a fun coincidence! It may not be on this album, but it was still the same artists out of potentially hundreds of artists. Overall okay, I think Red Alert saves it, brings it up to a 3 on that song alone.

I think I just realized why I never got into hair/glam rock. I don't like musicals. Glam rock is just a musical that's "rockin' out!". Too much emoting throws it into the uncanny valley of emotion and it just feels forced or fake. This time, though, I'm gonna throw on an extra star for Pour Some Sugar On Me, cause it's just a fun song

This one takes me back. I was a rock/rap/nu metal fan back in the day (still am) and this was a fun album. That said, he's a giant piece of shit and there are some instances where I can't separate the art from the artist. Fuck this guy.

For music I have no history with and really no understanding of, it's pretty good. Little bit of disco mixed in with the salsa. And then there's my standard complaint of most songs sounds very similar, but I'm sure that comes from my lack of understanding of the style.

I didn't listen to this much back in the day because I didn't care for the hardcore 'gangsta rap'. Yes the lyrics are juvenile, but he was basically a kid when he put this out, plus it was the '90s so things have changed since then. I never did, and still don't, care for the skits in the middle of the album, those can just be dropped. Great album otherwise

I can't believe this was the followup to S.C.I.E.N.C.E.. That was such a good album, then they made ... this. I know most bands have a goal to make it big, but when you sacrifice sound for popularity (*cough* Sugar Ray *cough*) you lose me. Enjoy your mediocrity, you could have had something good.

I think Bob Marley got a little shafted for me. Back in college in the late '90s, the best of Bob Marley was the album pretty much everyone had. That was tremendously overplayed to the point where I was kinda pushed away from reggae as a whole. I've come back to it and enjoy some of it, but I've still just never gotten into Bob Marley. Musically just mid.

Back when this came out I was mostly just exposed to 'gangsta rap' and I figured I just didn't really care too much for rap. I wonder if I had heard this back then if it would have given me a greater appreciation for the genre and set my life in a different course. At either rate, I didn't find this until a few years ago, and I really dig it. I also like to set off a 'radio station' based on this album. Good stuff.

I'm going to give this a 3 in the hopes that I'll remember to come back and check it out some day. It didn't really catch me, but I didn't hate it.

My issue with hardcore albums is that they tend to be one track played a dozen times with different lyrics. It's not bad, but I'll never pick it to play again

While I do enjoy most of his radio songs, Eminem is just not for me. The misogyny, homophobia, and violence are just super off-putting. It's really part of the reason I was pushed away from hip-hop in the 90s (continuing into the early 2000s).

I liked the funkier songs more than the others, but otherwise a pretty solid album

Maybe I'm not in the mode for something slower paced, but this is really just not hitting for me.

I saw ABBA pop up and was ready to rate it a 1 or maybe 2. I've never liked them, and I found out about them after I named my cat Fernando, which I'm sure didn't help. At any rate, this album was better than expected. It was a high 3/nearly 4 rating for the first half of the album, but then the second half got a little boring. Still better than I would have thought

I wonder if I didn't listen to the whole album because some songs were overplayed? Either way, I've been missing out, this was a pretty good album.

I hate rating this one so low.... but the whole point of me going through this list is to see what I like. I do not like this. Couldn't get past the first song. Maybe it's the best album in the history of jazz, but it's lost on me.

I've mostly only listened to Quality Control, don't know why I haven't branched out more. This is good stuff

I've never listened to a full Rod Stewart album before, and unless there are more on this list I don't think I will in the future either. Not for me.

As a general rule I don't like country, and I don't like music where the main idea is to tell a story. But for every rule there's an exception, and Willie Nelson is amazing.

I think this may be the first 'english rock band' entry (that was previously unknown to me) that I've actually enjoyed. Direct, middle of the road, not bad but not great but kinda enjoyable music. I wish I could give it 2.5 stars. I'll go two because I don't see myself ever picking these guys again

I saw blues musician and had set expectations with myself thinking it was going to be an american style blues. A little more discordant than that, and ultimately couldn't get into it

When I think of the sound/style of '90s rap, this fits the bill exactly. I enjoyed this one

I enjoyed this a lot more than I expected. I've only heard a couple songs prior to this album, and it seems like I've been missing out. They certainly love their didgeridoo!

I misread the year as 1998 and thought it was pretty generic for the time, then realized it was 1988. I can definitely see how this influenced music to come, but I didn't super care for it. 2.5 starts

Pretty good if not samey album. Title track is of course iconic, and the rest are good tunes that kinda sit in the background.

This dude keeps shoving aggressively mediocre brit-pop/brit-rock down our throats. Maybe you had to be there? I got a few tracks in before I had to consciously not turn it off and ultimately made through 10 out of the 12 tracks before I couldn't take it anymore. 1.5 stars

Finally, a live album that feels like it should make it on this list. I'm not a huge Johnny Cash fan, but I like him just fine. But this historical significance, the stage banter, and the music itself are all great.

Listening to this after Paul's Boutique was a little disappointing, but it's still an amazing album. 4.5 stars

I'll be honest, I didn't listen to this one for this project. I've heard it before. It was pop nonsense at the time and it's pop nonsense now. Hard pass.

I had no idea there was any kind of controversy around him until I started reading some of the reviews. I didn't like this or hate this album enough to even care to look him up. It was mostly kinda fine, I'll likely not listen to this again.

I really haven't listened to anything by the Stones that hasn't been played on the radio. This was pretty good. Obviously I already knew the big hits on this one, and the rest were enjoyable.

On paper I should really like this album. It did absolutely nothing for me. The intro was decent, but it only lead to disappointment

I didn't have my Santana DVX on me, so I had to listen sober. Pretty good, a couple classics and the rest were fine.

"Oh goddammit" was my thought on seeing what today's album is. Everything about The Doors is over-inflated, and self important and very annoying. But this is a good album. If you remove 'The End', this is a great album. I didn't think I would enjoy it as much as I did.

I've heard of Brian Eno many times but have never (knowingly) really listened to him. This album was delightfully weird and fun. I'll consider it as my invitation to listen to more of his stuff.
