All I know about the Monkee’s is the tv show, so going in I was expecting something campy. I was pleasantly surprised with the album I heard. I particularly enjoyed Band 6, Sunny Girlfriend, and No Time.
Where is My Mind? was the stand out for sure, and I enjoyed the last 4 tracks. The first half kinda blended together for me.
Love everything on display. The production is catchy and the rhymes practically trip over each other.
Recognized the title track immediately. Whole album was great, I loved hearing the organ play around with the guitar. Green Onions and You Can’t Sit Down were my favorites.
Every song felt epic and unique
It’s grand and epic but long and not always interesting.
Not my cup of tea for the most part. I enjoyed the last two songs and Anyday
Love this! Her voice and the arrangements are beautiful. Favorite songs were Sleep to Dream, Criminal, Slow Like Honey, Never Is a Promise, and Carrion.
Enjoyed it a lot. Very atmospheric and at times reminded me of Talking Heads. My favorite part was the 4 track run of tonite, call the police, american dream, and emotional haircut.
Really fun to listen to. Glad this album was assigned today, R.I.P. Ozzy.
Favorite tracks were Snowblind and Under the Sun.
I’ve probably heard all these songs at one point or another but haven’t listened to the full album before. Favorites were Octopuses Garden, I Want You, and Carry That Weight.
Interesting narrative, kept my interest despite the length. My only complaint is I felt some of the songs barely fit into the story.
Super chill vibes. Loved it a lot. Mentira, Lágrimas de Oro, Luna y sol, Welcome to Tijuaña, Malegría, and La Vie à 2 were my favorites.
I liked it more than I expected. Not as grungy as I thought it’d be. My favorites were the first three tracks
This one is pretty chill. My favorite tracks were Everything Put Together Falls Apart, Me & Julio Down by the Schoolyard, and Paranoia Blues.
It was an interesting listen. I liked the atmosphere the album put you in. However only songs I really vibed with were Hudson Line, Goddess on a Hiway, and Delta Sun Bottleneck Stomp.
Really liked the atmosphere created by the first half, really feels chill and the songs seem timeless. Then A Gospel and Strength of Your Nature really derail the albums flow by sounding completely dated.
Enjoyable easy listening album. Highlights were Down to Zero, Water with the Wine, Save Me, and Tall in the Saddle
Yesss, love it! Have listened to Herbie Hancock before and was excited to give this one a listen. Will definitely getting regular spins after today!
Fun to listen to, very energetic.
Enjoyed it more than Tommy, it wasn’t as long and not having to stick to a story allowed more freedom to play. Favorite songs were the two singles and My Wife.
The singles were enjoyable. The whole album sounded the same.
Fun, light hearted album. Lots of short catchy songs, I especially enjoyed Session Man, House in the Country, Holiday in Waikiki, and Sunny Afternoon.
Relaxing background music.
Didn’t vibe with this one as much. I enjoyed the song Pass in Time but nothing else really captivated me.
I’ve listened to R.E.M. before but never this album. This was one of their better ones. Favorites included Drive, Ignoreland, and Man on the Moon.
Loved it! Was groovin to every track, will definitely be playing this album again!
I’m torn. I love the music but don’t love the lyrics. Like I love the track Gs and Hustlas for the music but the tracks For All My Niggaz & Bitches and Ain’t No Fun make me cringe hearing the lyrics. The singles are still fun to hear and I also enjoyed Serial Killa.
This is a very 80’s album. The production on some of the songs, particularly Sledgehammer and Big Time was pretty dated, but I did enjoy Red Rain, Mercy Street, and We Do What We’re Told.
This was an interesting listen. I’ve heard their next album Loveless so it was cool to see them use some of the same techniques in a more accessible way. I’d listen to this again. Favorite tracks were Soft As Snow, No More Sorry, Feed Me With Your Kiss, and Nothing Much To Lose.
Beautiful, soaring background tracks made the album pretty enjoyable for me. My favorite tracks were Hazel Jane I, Poor Boy, and the three instrumental tracks.
I really liked this one. It reminded me of albums like Igor and Because the Internet that are full of lush production that pull from different inspirations. Some of the songs were a bit too self aggrandizing for my taste but overall well made album
This was so good! A new favorite!
I liked what I heard but it was a bit too slow/quiet for me to really enjoy. Best tracks were Knives Out and Life in a Glasshouse.
What is happening??? This is some melodic folksy hippie adjacent shit and I like it??? I’m not even high right now. Bravo Canada. Bravo.
Light hearted quick little album. I liked some of the campier songs but Everybody’s Been Burned, Thoughts and Words, and Mind Games were my favorite.
Not my thing. I liked the shorter tracks on the album but it was just too long with not enough happening to keep my interest.
Loved it! As always with The Beach Boys I come for the vocal harmonies, some heartfelt lyrics, and a little camp. This album delivered all that and then some. Favorite tracks were Long Promised Land, Disney Girls, Student Demonstration Time, and Surf’s Up
This was a lot of fun! Catchy, full of pop and a bit of attitude. Favorite tracks were Our Lips Are Sealed, The Town, We Got The Beat, and Skidmarks On My Heart
I feel like this is an album that requires a few listens to really get into. I liked what I heard but nothing stuck out as something I wanted to immediately return to.
Another one I enjoyed a lot more than I expected. The length of the album is what kept it from getting a higher rating
I enjoyed it but it felt like a collection of songs. Would pull this out again on date night but probably not for much else.
Love this one. I’ve heard it before and it’s even better a second time. Too many favorite tracks to name them all
I’d heard every Hüsker Dü album except this one and now I’m mad I didn’t listen to it sooner. Great album
This was pretty good. I ended up liking the non-single tracks better, which meant I enjoyed the second half a lot more (especially the last two tracks)
I’ve listened to this once before and enjoy it even more than the first time
This was another album where I liked the second half better than the first. The second half was a lot more lively and emotional, starting with The Ballad of Lucy Jordan.
Interesting listen, I can definitely hear the elements of what would become shoegaze.
Was a lot more musically diverse than I was expecting.
It was good, just needed more to make each some unique and memorable. The length didn’t help it.
This was a fun little disco album. Might pick it up again
A lot of fun, I really enjoyed it
It sounded like exactly what I think of when I think of early 00’s indie rock.
Pretty good. Atmospheric and slower paced
I’m torn because the music on display is good, the songs are pretty catchy for the most part, and when listening to this album I ran into more songs I was familiar with than any other album I’ve heard so far here. But I can’t stand John Fogerty’s voice.
It’s good but getting a bit to dancy for my taste.
Really enjoyed this, will definitely be listening again soon
I feel like I need more listens to digest it all
Loved it a lot more than a lot of the other British electronic instrumentals albums. A lot catchier, it changed it up often enough to keep it interesting, and the hooks were fun
I loved this one! Another fun short burst of energy
I didn’t hate it, it’s just nothing I’d ever actively seek out to listen to again.
This album was really good but I’m torn for two reasons. One, Laupers inflections can make her voice sound winey and annoying at times, and two it’s another album that stacked all its best songs in the front half and left the second half for the b-sides. Yeah Yeah is a banger though.
Was more metal sounding than I expected
I liked the singles and the last track and the whole album on the whole was a very relaxing vibe.
Better than I expected, I liked the production a lot.
Enjoyed it more than expected but still wasn’t anything I’d really mess around with again
Eh. Fame is the main reason to listen to this album. Other than that skip it.
Excellent album though some of the lyrics are a bit cringy and I find the shift in tone with the last two track being more dance/beat inspired not as smooth as I remember.
The music was great, really epic to listen to. Only complaint was the length of the album
This is a new favorite! Love it
Short and fun. I loved his interactions with the audience
We are coming to you live from the Mothership…
Didn’t realize how many Kings of Leon songs I’d heard before
I liked it but not as much as Psycho Candy
This album grew on me as I listened to it. I liked the album opener Take a Bow but was not feeling the more electro pop vibes of Supermassive Black Hole. The opening guitar to Maps of the Problematique got me back on board and the guitar, arrangements, and orchestral touches across the album are what sealed the deal. I was vibing to the opening of Knights of Cydonia so hard I was kinda bummed when the vocals started in.
Not my favorite Coltrane album but I love the cohesiveness throughout the record. Feels more like a single piece than an album of 4 songs
First few songs were good, but the second half is better. Especially enjoyed the three track run of Liability, Hard Feelings/Loveless, and Sober II.
I liked this one a lot with the main drawback for me just being the length. I’d listen to a lot of these songs on their own before I’d listen to the full album again.

Salaam-al-aikum!
I enjoyed some of the singles and would listen to them again no problem but didn’t gel enough with the rest of the songs to really want to come back and listen to the full album. Plus the mix on some of the songs were a bit off. Blue Suede Shoes sounds like he’s singing inches away from the mic while the rest of the band is playing in the other room.
Considering I’m not a big country fan, I liked this way more than anticipated
I enjoyed it but didn’t vibe with it as I do other jazz albums
Was catchier than expected
It was fine, nothing particularly spectacular but I didn’t hate it.
Liked this a lot more than Surfer Rosa
Liked this better than Snivilization but only because it was shorter.
Liked it better than the black album
The lyrics were corny and not as deep as the singer thought they were. Music was fine, just nothing that really captivated me. First album that I was getting annoyed with while listening to.
Dumb but inoffensive 70’s soft rock
Nostalgia is probably playing a factor here as Bruce and this album in particular were played a lot in my house growing up but this was the first time for me actually sitting down and listening to it all the way through.
Short and sweet. Franks singing is slower and more subdued on this one. Very relaxing album
I listened to the first 10 seconds or so before starting it over because I thought I had started it in the middle of the track by accident
Great album, love Janis’s voice. Piece of my Heart is phenomenal.
Just goofy enough to be charming
I love how much emotion she is able to convey through both the music and her singing.
Production hit harder, and overall the album was more focused than his debut
The singles were good, but the rest were just 2-3 min pop songs all being about love in some way. Need more variety.
Interesting but not sure if I’ll come back to it.
The first song sounded like if Chicago was fronted by David Byrne.
Interesting listen, reminded me of something like KLF
Fun but nothing that stuck with me
I grew up listening to the first four Korn albums a lot but this one is the one I return to the least. I still enjoy some tracks but I don’t listen to the full album much ever. I don’t think it’s their best effort, nor does it age as well as their other albums.
She has a nice voice, but it’s not for me.
I love live albums like these where it’s a single show and you can really get a feel the energy between the artist and the audience.
Yo. Kate Bush. You’re kinda weird. I love it.
Pleasant surprise! I didn’t realize how many of these songs I’d heard before
Very moody and atmospheric. I liked how Plainsong built upon that and held off on the vocals until about halfway through the song. But then like half the songs did that and it lost its charm a bit. Still a solid album.
3.5 better than expected, the 4 sections of the album helped it be more digestible. Not necessarily a big fan but enjoyed it nonetheless.
Better than expected but still didn’t love it
Apple Jam could’ve been its own separate LP or EP and it wouldn’t have taken anything away from either.
This is the kind of jazz I think of when I think of jazz
Not sure why but this unexpectedly delighted me
Not sure why but this unexpectedly delighted me
It Was a Pleasure Then and Chelsea Girls are the only two songs worth listening to (honorable mention for Eulogy For Lenny Bruce)
Maybe it was too slow, too dreary, idk but I was excited to listen to this album but didn’t enjoy it as much as I’d hoped. Roads, Biscuit, and Glory Box were the standout tracks for me
Overall a lot of fun but some songs were more interesting than others.
Some of the songs were catchy/fun to listen to, but most felt like average rock songs.
A little corny but more fun than expected
I didn’t mind it but some songs felt very much of the time (Music in particular). Also Madonna has a great voice, the auto tune on a few of the songs felt cheesy and dated. Favorite song was Paradise (not for me)
Was shocked to see how much I enjoyed this, especially with that corny ass cover
Yo that was crazy, there were times where I had to remind myself that there was only one person playing the whole time
Based on band/album name alone I was prepared for peek pretentiousness. It wasn’t bad
It was fine. Didn’t really think about Rod Stewart being in a band before this. Also this is my second time hearing the song Memphis, the first time being on Buck Owen’s I’ve Got a Tiger By The Tail and I actually prefer Buck Owen’s version.
Boring. Really boring for someone as creative and interesting as Beck.
Loved the noisier aspects of the album
I love this album. To me it’s a great example of how to do a live album the right way. Too many live albums, especially by more popular artists are compilations of live tracks. This is for the most part one show with the introduction/closing announcements, the banter with the crowd in between songs, and the audience reactions all intact. As such instead of listening to a list of the artists hits in an inferior quality you get a fuller, more accurate interpretation of their performance.
Appreciate it but not my cup of tea.
Bob Dylan is old and sad. 2 stars because Not Dark Yet was alright.
At times I had to remind myself it wasn’t Tim Curry singing. Not bad.
Grew up with this album and love it. Was one of the first ten records or so when I first started collecting. Short and snotty
Started off strong but felt like it started to lose me in the second half. Really enjoyed it regardless
Eagles were played a lot in my house growing up so I thought this might be like Born to Run where I vaguely recognized a part of most songs. I really only recognized the singles and after hearing the rest of the tracks I can see why.
Weirder and funkier than I expected. Will definitely be giving this another listen.
Title track was awesome, got worse from there
If I wanted to listen to Guthrie, I’d listen to Guthrie
A bit long and repetitive
Super energetic with space to breath
This is another album that was played on repeat by my parents so I recognized more songs than I anticipated
The singles were fine, the rest was okay. Not the biggest rhcp fan.
Enjoyed it a lot more than expected.
Sounds like if X grew up with and were best friends with the Butthole Surfers before moving to LA and recording an Alex Chilton album. The production sounds very similar to the EPs he’d put out in the next few years (Fuedalist Tarts, No Sex)
Liked it better than Dummy. Plastic was a standout for me
An hour plus is too long for Bobby D. At least this is better than old, sad Bob on Time Out Of Mind
The contributions from the other musicians were great, Paul was a snooze.
Did not need to be a double album.
Nico dragged the party down for me. Otherwise a milder version of White Light/White Heat
It was good, but front stacked with all the hits
It was fine, I liked the first song and didn’t hate the rest, just not my thing and don’t think I’ll listen again aside from the first one.
The talent is clearly there, Hurt in particular is beautiful. But the first half is an average 00’s r&b influenced pop album and the while the second half is more interesting to listen to, it’s no better.
Better than I thought it would be. Still fairly average.
Likes the more blues influenced tracks
My biggest gripe is it sounded like just a collection of songs, no flow to the album at all. One song will be a beautifully arranged orchestral instrumental piece, and the next song sounds like The Weight by The Band.
Son of a Preacher Man gets my balls slapping and feet tapping every time.
Idk, nothing really did much for me. If I were to revisit, it’d probably be just the track 10 Mile Stereo. Maybe Better Times too.
So I saw The War on Drugs in 2012. My one of my best friend's birthday was coming up and he had told me he really liked them. I had an opportunity to see them so I went and then saw them afterwards for a meet and greet. I bought their album ahead of time and Adam signed it.
When I gave the CD to my friend, his reaction was "oh. cool." I guess he had already moved onto liking a different band more.
This album was a 2 in the same nonchalant manor my friend reacted to his gift. I enjoyed Burning but I can listen to a Bruce album and get the same if not more out of it. I saw that their earlier albums had more instrumentals and I'd be maybe interested in checking them out because I really enjoyed when they were just playing.
Idk, much like the Beach House album I heard earlier I came in with a lot of interest and left somewhat dissapointed.
