Reviews (page 15 of 15)
The music is, in general, good. But it became monotonous to me. Also, I can't get past how obnoxious the Gallagher brothers are. Or Liam. I don't remember if it's one or both, but it flavours my listening.
Simultaneously enjoyable and annoying. I can't separate my history listening to this and assess it objectively, sorry.
Imagine liking _this_ more than Blur. Couldn't be me. I did listen to this, Wonderwall remains Not Good but catchy and nothing on here is great and most of it is a bit mediocre at best.
The strings in the background of Wonderwall make it a classic track, but the rest just sounds like Liam whinging and wining on about something or other.
I hate this album so much I want to cry. The singer is whiny, the music is generic and it just drones on forever
not my style
some good songs. not at all a "timeless" album, and not one I would listen to frequently
Ok, ikke fremragende.
Eh. 5/10
See my other Oasis reviews. If they're gonna make all their albums sound the same why shouldn't all my reviews be the same?? Huh??
Poor mix undermines good melodies. In hindsight, just generic guitar rock.
I was pleasantly surprised listening to Oasis' first album and really, really enjoyed it. I thought I'd perhaps wasted 25 years not being an Oasis fan. This album compounded why I never get into them when this came out. It's just not that good to me.
Eh
I could not finish this album. It was alright but not my cup of tea. Anyways heres Wonderwall.
Brit-pop group loves The Beatles, but only “Revolver” era Beatles. Which ain’t bad, but they can’t even write a song as good as “Taxman.”
Had it's moments. And I do like Wonderwall. But on the whole it's very "meh".
Not my vibe. Some classics though
Eh not very good despite a couple of solid ideas
Oasis. Meh.
Boring, a lot of yelling, reminds me of the 2000s, I don't mind it but its not my cup of tea
not my thing
“(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?” by Oasis (1995) Lyricist Noel Gallagher is consumed by his own cleverness in his unsuccessful struggle to find rhymes. Yes, ‘sister’ does rhyme with ‘blister’, but what context can possibly be invented to bring these two words together with any semblance of sense? These lyrics do have potential, showing progression and creative resolution, but are frequently marred by internal incoherence and the use, overuse, misuse, and abuse of cliches. And there’s even a daft adherence to correct grammar (“I know the roads down which your life will drive” Really? Did they teach you that at Eton?). Setting aside the moronic poetry, this album provides some musical delights. Chord progressions, while not particularly inventive, show pleasant variety. Supported by a solid rhythm section, the clean (rhythm-heavy) guitar performances carry the music well. There are some jarring but aimless compositional transitions that tend to distract. Liam Gallagher’s lead vocals, while not high quality, are sufficient for the (undemanding) musical task. Brother Noel must be really impressed with that strumming acoustic intro, since he uses it on four tracks. And remember what I said about the beauty of sibling vocal blend? Forget it. But the music flows adequately for soft rock—enough to give it a listen. Once. 2/5
Nah, still don't like Oasis.
Not my bag baby
Couple good songs. Not my scene.
Meh
Not an oasis fan(far from it) but this has to be their best album(and has the only song of theirs that I enjoy "morning glory"). So even after listening again to this, I'm still not a fan. I cannot stand to listen to the whiney sounds of Noel.
Oasis has not been a favorite of mine. but reasonable music.
This is the most 90s shit I have ever heard. Did not finish.
Didn’t like it then, don’t like it now
Meeeeehhhh
They can certainly make anthems... just not ones I get roused about. Lots of nostalgia with not a lot of sense
Seriously just not for me
Sorry, but I'm team Blur.
Derivative crap. I’m grew up in the era of Oasis being the best thing ever and the only fn I manage to conjure from this was working out which 60s/70s song the semi interesting part is lifted from. The cult around this is also deeply wrapped up in the kind of English exceptionalism that gave us Brexit and all the problems that come with that. They aren’t even the second best britpop band.
Wow. Lame. Insufferable . And also catchy which is the worst combination.
Yet another one I don't get the fuss over.
This album confirmed that I hate Oasis, and that Liam Gallagher's voice and delivery are impressively annoying. The only redeeming song on this album for me was "Don't Look Back in Anger," which of course Noel sings and not Liam. For me, listening to Oasis is torture.
Oasis always sounded like a shitty grunge remix of the Beatles, never understood the hype
ass song, dont ever recommend again
0.5/5
Wow I hate Oasis and listening to this just enforced that
Never liked Oasis. Dislike the whining wingeing voice.
Nope.
History has not been kind.
Whining stupid music.
Badly sung, boringly played, and every song sounds the same. It also cointains the silliest ballad ever made. To avoid at all costs. Not far is the day when, this blatant copy of the worst Beatles song repeated for an entire album, will be seen as it deserves: with a passing glance of disdain.
I unironically think I'm too intelligent to listen to Oasis. I'm willing to suffer through a lot of bad music, but ain't no way I'm willingly listening to wonderwall
Shite
No thanks. This band is for someone who is not me.
grueling and physically painful. i feel drained. i do not know how to describe this in any way other than in varying degrees of agony. quintessential god-awful britprop is what this is. i don't even know where to begin. the singing? does this even qualify for such a word? it's somewhere between screeching and whining where he arbitrarily decides which vowel he is going to hold for far too long with inane lyrics that are entirely meaningless. the instrumentation is white noise. this is a national prank from britain, yes? surely it must be. i simply refuse to believe that this a real album that people think is listenable, let alone great.
My parents really liked Oasis, I really hate Oasis. I hate Liam's incredibly whiny voice, I hate the god awful production that is designed solely to be played on crap radios, I hate the overblown sound of every song, I hate the nonesense ass lyrics and I especially hate the fact that living in the North of England means that there's this nonesense tribalism expectation to enjoy this shit music. Don't Look Back in Anger is the only Oasis song I ever have managed to even slightly like (random fact, the name is a reference to a Bowie song off Lodger) and that's because I can slightly stand Noel's singing sometimes. I had to listen to this album so much growing up and I do not get why people like this crap. Blur won the Top of the Pops with Country House, and Oasis wins "my least favorite band" award. I know that Oasis is beloved and if you like them, that's great! I would rather listen to a Modern Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Maroon Five collab album then listen to god damn Oasis.
Appallingly boring in scope, lyricism and musicality. I’m trying to give it a fair listen but I just want to listen to anything else
I live in the UK and hear Oasis all the time. No thanks.
oasis mi rifiuto di ascoltarli :skull:
What a fouking wonderful start of the year, I hit the wall immediately. Wonder why all are prepared to give Oasis such high review. I hope this experience slides away, so I don’t need to look back in anger on this review challenge. As I see it: the 1995 record everyone tells you is untouchable. Canon. Sacred. A communal sing-along where you’re expected to raise your pint, and accept that this is as good as it gets. But from the first minutes, I’m already waiting for it to be over, wondering when the revelation is supposed to arrive. The problem isn’t that it’s loud or confident. It’s that it’s written in stone, a Thesis. Every song walks in like it already knows it’s right. Don’t Look Back in Anger tells me not to question it. Wonderwall assumes I’ll be there at the fire site when it matters. Some Might Say shrugs off doubt as if uncertainty itself were a character flaw. And by the time Champagne Supernova floats by, I realise it's not the Champagne I wanted to pop for 2026. This album mistakes repetition for unity and simplicity for universality. These are karaoke anthems before they’re songs, engineered for mass agreement, not discovery. Everything is pushed toward the same litter box: big chorus, open vowels, arms-around-shoulders emotion, pints spilling around. It’s music that doesn’t want to argue with you, but it absolutely expects you to agree. And maybe that’s why it grates. The mainstream love around this record feels more like enforcement. If one don’t feel it, the fault must be yours. You’re told this is the sound of a generation, but generations are rarely this tidy. Life is messier than these songs allow. There’s no real tension here, no risk. So no, this wasn’t the Champagne Supernova I hoped for as my first review of 2026. It didn’t explode, didn’t transport, didn’t even surprise. I understand why people love it. I just don’t believe it deserves the pedestal. And if this review sounds like resistance rather than revelation, that’s because sometimes the most honest response to a cultural monument is simply to say: I was there, I listened And I felt nothing!
The story is that these guys are annoying as fuck. I absolutely can’t stand the vocals. The songs are boring and go on too long. I hate the singles. What the fuck is a “wonderwall”? Anyway. I suspect I’ve made my point.
Oasis 🤮
If narcissism was an album.
I really am not into Oasis I found out.
I don't get why Oasis is considered great, it's mediocre and boring in my ears
AWFUL VOICES. makes me hate it. Great songs... when Noel isn't singing them
Alternative group out of the late 90’s-00’s. Ok music.
The last place I worked had a strict no Oasis or Sublime rule. I'm listening but I am not happy about it. Two tracks in and we were right to ban Oasis.
God, I wondered when this would crop up. The ongoing appeal of Oasis' stodgy, turgid, plod-rock is mystifying. Some of the tunes can snare you but this just distracts from the fact that none of the lyrics make any sense at all. This is tedious, lowest-common-denominator sludge for piss-hurling thugs. Liam Gallagher bought me a pint once but I've never spent a single penny on Oasis. This puts me up on the deal, and that's the only good thing I can say about them.
I couldn't even bring myself to listen to this. Just thinking about Champagne Supernova makes me feel angry
Not for “MEEEEEEE”. (That’s how they sound. All high pitched and whiny.)
I know it's coming... I know it's coming... WONDERWALL GOD FUCKING DAMMIT
I am only semi-familiar with Oasis’s song Wonderwall. I am not resonating with this group. So it gets a 1 for me as I didn’t want to finish this, but I chose to as I said I would listen to every album given me to in its entirety!
I understand the cultural impact, but cannot get past their voices. I'd rather listen to fingernails on a chalkboard
Good n grungy, one (two) hit wonder makes sense
Yet more over hyped, overblown dadrock by one half talented brother and one total idiot.
1 decent track, the rest are drowned out by awful over production probably because they just don't play good music.
Brit pop is arguably my favorite single genre of music. My favorite band of all time is The Verve and many of my favorite songs and albums are from this sub genre. I have felt this way about this album and Oasis in general since 1996... Oasis is the single most overrated, uninspiring, mid Brit Rock band to emerge from the genre and this album is a sad commodification of it's stylings.
Honestly the most overrated album on this list. Garbage.
Can’t stand Oasis and this album did not change my mind.
The guitar player dominated the sound tracks. Perhaps the singer and guitar player should seek other musicians to balance out the band's sound.
After the major shake-up in rock during the early ‘90s, I never really get the hype around Britpop in general and more specifically around Oasis. Apart from their working class bad-boy attitude, musically, it’s honestly not good or ambitious. Production with added violins cannot hide the monotonous and annoying voice of Liam and the songs structures and the technical complexity are those of a local pub’s band. This is easy, risk-free, and hollow rock. To me, it’s a big scam, almost an affront to the Beatles and to rock. But I guess you had to be English and to read tabloids to really grasp their impact. In 95, I was embracing The Bends from Radiohead instead.
Just boring. Musical beige. I absolutely do not understand the fuss. Not for me.
Wonderwall by Oasis and Waterfall by The Stone Roses ask the musical question, is she liquid or made of brick? Does anyone care?
Ugh. Like nails on a chalkboard. Whiney, grating nasal lyrics paired with uninspired, cacophany sounds. I suffered through it. You shouldn't have to.
I would've preferred having to listen to "Rockstar" by Nickelback 12 times in a row than this because then at least I would've had a modicum of fun.
I honestly don’t get the hype with these at all. I respect that they captured an era, and that people love them for it, but their songs do nout for me. I remember seeing an interview with the Gallaghers where the interviewer was asking them about the meaning behind their songs. Noel looked stumped and Liam replied ‘theyre just tunes arent they’. Kinda sums them up for me that
Oasis was originally The Shitty Beatles in Wayne's World. I cannot get into this record, and the production is terrible. I tried to listen with my stereo and headphone rig, but it sounded terrible all the way around. Oasis is another band that is praised for various reasons but at the end of the day; it is trite shite; Oasis blows ass because they suck, it is that simple. 1995 had three records not on the list, and all three are essential. Death - Symbolic, Neil Young - Mirror Ball, Three 6 Mafia - Mystic Stylez Dissection - Storm of the Lights Bane Primus - Tales from the Punchbowl Sonic Youth - Washing Machine Mobb Deep - The Infamous Ruins - Hyderomastgroningem
I fucking hate oasis Middle finger x3 emoji 1.5
This is the musical equivalent of the nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The use of the A-bomb demonstrated the inhumanity and destructive force that man could wield against man, inspiring decades of reckless arms races and the ever looming threat of nuclear holocaust, whereas the release of Oasis’ biggest album was an example of the inhumanity and destructive force that the British could wield against music, inspiring decades of reckless imitation by the most annoying people to ever live, and the ever looming threat of Britpop becoming popular again.
Utter Crap. Massively overrated band. Whiney, grating voices. Blur were much better.
I fucking hate wonderwall with a passion.
No
I didn't hate this as much as I expected to! I don't know why, but every Oasis song I've heard up to now is usually aggravating. However, this album had a couple songs on it that were merely mostly annoying. Congratulations.
I never listened to this whole album. I'd say that you don't actually need to listen to the whole album--if you've heard the hits off this record, the rest of it sounds like a rehash/retread of those songs, with potentially more moronic lyrics (She's got a sister/ And God only knows how I've missed her/ And on the palm of her hand is a blister). Coupled with Noel Gallagher's massive ego, this is a total pass for me. I listened to the whole thing (so this would rank it potentially higher than Kid Rock's "Devil Without a Cause"), and it definitely defined the sound of 1990s Britpop, but if I never hear it again, it would be too soon. It's not bad enough to be on my personal soundtrack in hell, so I guess that makes it a 2, though it's properly a 1.5 (for me, dawg).
God I hate this band. Genuinely never understood the appeal. It’s just generic, loud, whiny and boring. Honestly, all their shit sounds the same. Shallow shit tracks.
Mediocre alt-pop rock. Would die happily without hearing this.
Garbage. If you think I’m spending a Saturday listening to this tuneless drivel, and giving that pair of gormless monobrowed Planet of the Apes rejects a minute of my time, you are sorely mistaken. This could be the Million and One albums to listen to before you die, and Oasis wouldn’t belong on it. The most overrated band in history. Standout Song: Don’t be silly. Score: 1/5
What if – and hear me out – Oasis was never really good, but British people were just *so* goddamn nostalgic for their ‘60s rock bands that they let a group of lads who wrote pretty boring and basic songs and who couldn’t sing for shit become the biggest band in the world, and then let them make the most mid-‘90s overproduced album imaginable built around a handful of half-finished hooks and beginner guitar chords that go on for 5-10 minutes for no reason whatsoever. Anyway, here’s “Wonderwall,” the best song on this god awful overhyped piece of trash, which tells you how good the rest of it is, really.
A glimmering turd that for some reason, other people think is a good record. The Gallagher show a complete lack of originality or musicality not seen again until Ed Sheeran and it’s amazing they’ve gotten away with it for so long. I’d give this zero stars but I am not allowed to
90s Radiohead tribute act. But with annoying vocals.
Wasn't a fan. Half the time it sounded like it was recorded in someone's garage with the garage door open.
When this came out, I felt like I had walked into a room at the tale end of a joke - I didn’t get it. Still don’t - the band does pretty well musically but Liam Gallagher has such a nasally annoying voice I remain baffled at Oasis’ success and continued popularity. All these five star reviews have me mightily flummoxed.
Id rather stick a needle in my ear than listen to these assholes
Hahaha, fuck no. Garbage. Straight trash homie
sorry I'm team blur, can't stand it
hello- ass. 4 roll with it- 3 wonderwall- guys i cant do this. -10 dont look back in anger- 2 hey now- 3. i cant do this anymore the swamp song-
I don’t care for it. 1
I've been putting this one off because I despise everything about Oasis. At the time of release all my friends were big fans, but I couldn't get into it at all and was on the Blur side of the fence. There are a few acts from that time that I really dislike and when this album came up I questioned just how far I would make it through the list given that I will no doubt have to listen to more Oasis, but presumably also Robbie Williams who is another deplorable character producing shit. Worst track, Wonderwall. Holy shit that song is terrible. Awful lyrics, horrible singing. Visions of people in pubs and clubs singing it at the top of the lungs with their eyes closed is so cringeworthy.
If you listen carefully, you can hear the Gallagher brothers arguing.
I've listened to this enough in the 90s. Not going to put myself through it again. So, I gathered it my review to ChatGPT because I couldn't be bothered with the effort. Write me a brief witty review of Oasis' album What's the story morning glory from the point of view of a man who things is terrible, boring derivative rubbish. "Oasis' 'What's the Story Morning Glory' is like a knock-off Beatles cover band that never quite learned the tunes. It's as if they raided a '90s Britpop bargain bin and threw every cliché into a blender. If you enjoy predictable hooks, uninspired lyrics, and a singer who seems perpetually out of breath, this album might just be your cup of lukewarm tea. But if you prefer music with a pulse, steer clear of this snoozefest disguised as rock 'n' roll." Spot on. One star.
Society would be just fine if Wonderwall was never written
I was 15 when Oasis broke onto the scene, and even then I didn't get the hype. Liam's voice struck me as whiney then, and the nonsensical lyrics that give the false impression they *might* mean something are just annoying. You add in the faux Beatles vibes, cocky rivalries with bands that are definitely better than them, and the sheer ego of the Gallagher brothers, and I'm not even slightly inclined to change my mind.
Can't even imagine how people thought these clowns were ever a match for Blur.
I have tried time and time again to get into Oasis, and I just can't. I have listened to this album in the past multiple times, and obviously again today. And I just like it less every single time. There are a handful of good songs here and there, but on the whole this album is just whiny vocals, boring guitars, and generic lyrics. I just don't see the appeal of this band. I get that this is considered to be one of the greatest britpop albums of all time, but I'll take Blur over this any day. Even though this album is no better or worse than Definitely Maybe, which I gave a 2, I'm giving it a 1 out of spite just for being the most overrated album of all time.
Liked Song Wonderwall
Wat een kanker muziek. Echt gezeik. Kwam niet verder dan iets van 4 nummers.
NOPE!!!!
no. just no. i’m not listening to this. please no.
Crap. Couldn’t make it thru the album.
Such a dreadful record. I hold Oasis (partially) responsible for Brexit. Everyone knows this isn't very good music, but y'know... What the fuck? She's my wonderwall. I tried to listen but it really is too awful. I listened to their first album instead, which is 10 times better! Definitely. (Maybe...)
Odd experience but I found listening to this as uncomfortable as I find it to listen to rap albums. Part of my dislike of this band is the reputation their name has earned as a sugar pop band, but then the actual listening is painful because it is so simplistic and pretty. Hard for me to even give them 2 stars for effort, but oh well, they make somebody happy.
Musically formulaic, lyrically nonsense (it’s as though Noel found a random word generator), and subjected repeatedly to Liam’s nasal aggression (one of life’s tawdry people). Music for the hard of thinking. Are there negative stars?
This is so god awful. The only reason people could listen to this is because they didnt know there was something better. I couldn't even finish the album
Not my favorite
hated oasis then. hate them now. whiny bitches.
never did care for these guys
Lil’ Willie G is quite the wet-fart and his half-yelled, wholly whined teen angst vocals are insufferable. They bring to mind Otto from A Fish Called Wanda. It’s like the line, “You pompous, stuck-up, snot-nosed, English, giant, twerp, scumbag, fuck-face, dickhead, asshole,” was written about him, his mediocre band, and this repetitive album. Oh yeah, the mono-brow brothers were going to be the "new Beatles," the only thing missing was talent.
wnderwal
Most overrated band ever. Can't stand it.
I never liked this brain dead crap, the lyrics and vocals and trashy acoustics. Reminds me of a British greasy spoon on a Sunday morning. Sweaty headache territory. The modern Beetles. Give them different drugs, a lot more anger, lager, conflict and renown, and mix Seattle grunge into it, and you the the hope of the new leisurewear generation. rounding up?
Possibly the worst accent to listen to
Wonderwall bruh
oasis sucks, it's noise, not music
It seems like I should dig Oasis, I just don't. Never did. IDK, maybe The Bends, I Should Coco and the debut of Foo Fighters set an impossibly high bar for rock and roll in 95.
I really don’t like Oasis
Not an Oasis person. Disappointing first generator
only got through, like, 3 songs (busy at work) - kinda Beatles-y
Derivative and basic. A genuine low point in music. I really didn't see the point, and still don't.
This is a band I somehow missed completely in the 90s. It wasn't until more recently when people started doing parodies of Wonderwall that I remember even hearing their name. This is my first listen to any of their music. Doesn't do much for me. I really can't know if it's from hearing too many parodies, or too many similar-sounding bands, but it's just how I responded to it.
Catchy riffs copied from other tunes, and awful lyrics. Dense and arrogant lead singer and a songwriter that must thank his lucky stars that he was born with a gift for re-imagining other artists superior tunes.
Oasis are one of the most overrated bands in history in my opinion. I find their music uninspiring and bland. The vocals are especially grating to listen to and the lyrics are complete nonsense without any charm. Musically, it’s run-of-the-mill, tacky and pointless. The Melodies, harmonies, rhythms etc are straightforward and do nothing to interest or excite the listener. On top of all this, they are just smug.
It all souned the same was not interesting
Non-stop whining.
Not a fan.
Great
DE LA MERDE EN BOITE Prefs: Don't Look Back in Anger, Champagne Supernova Moins pref: Wonderwall
Oasis blows
Never been a fan of Oasis. I feel like folks in the 90s were too easily enamored by a British accent.
Crap back then and still crap. These 1001 have some questionable selections.
Fuck oasis
No. No. Thrice no.
I have NOT been looking forward to this. Hopefully this garbage doesn't jack up my youtube algorithm too much.
I like Alan McGee's theory that Noel Gallagher came down from Manchester with an Adidas bag full of songs, and never wrote anything of note once he left his home town. Having said that, I find Oasis dull and dreary, with weird, clunky lyrics - "take that look from off your face". But that's ok, like Liberace they will be crying all the way to the bank.
again, I really only enjoyed the songs I knew.
Grainy
for as much crap as oasis deserves and how unlistenable wonderwall has become, this is a nearly flawless record
"Morning Glory" seems to be the classical rock song. I liked the guitar parts in this song, but not the vocal at all. On the other hand "Champagne Supernova" took me away for sure/ I liked this peace. Not "Pink Floyd" but not bad
