Reviews (page 14 of 15)

This album was huge when I was a teenager, but I was never into it beyond the singles. It still surprises me how popular Oasis is (#102 in the world on Spotify).

Bleh. I never really liked any of the hit songs on this album, but there are a lot. It has its time and place. Reminds me of dad playing music too loud on ski trips.

Wonderwall does all of the lifting here.

I detest Oasis. It this isn’t terrible.

I got this CD from one of those catalogues the record labels had, when I was a kid. Even then I thought it kinda stunk, but that was before I had listened to every other English rock record released around the same time. Could be worse.

Good reminder why I like Blur and not Oasis

The deep cuts aren't as grating as the singles, but this band just rubs me the wrong way. Lyrics are "deep" if you're a middle schooler that's never read na book before. They aren't pleasant enough as a band to be pop and lack any of the edge or creativity that existed in the 90's alt rock scene.

Dont really care

boring as hell

this sucks

Every now and then a movie hits the audience that only sees two movies a year. & then you say “how did Michael make so much money!” forgetting the millions that don’t engage with movies really. Oasis feels like that for music.

Kult, aber nicht mein Stil

I didn’t go into this with an open mind, but then found myself singing along to Roll with it. Nonetheless I still found I was hugely underwhelmed, even the singles are so repetitive. It’s all driven to me, uninspired and uninteresting.

This album wraps an unapologetic pop foundation in a heavy rock veneer, drawing clear inspiration from The Beatles, Status Quo, and T. Rex. I believe Gary Glitter also gets a writing credit in the opening track too. There is a fascinating contrast between its serious, anti-social presentation and its sincere, conformist core. The lyrics often aim for depth, even if the meaning remains a bit elusive, which somehow works in their favour. "Wonderwall" lives up to its reputation, while "She's Electric" feels like a loving nod to The Beatles that might inspire you to revisit their catalog. "Morning Glory" brings back memories of learning guitar. Although I like the riff on this song I think the reliance on open chords across the rest of the album sometimes makes the mix feel a bit muddy. Some of the songs feature faux-profound lyrics, but the strength lies in how effectively it gets people singing along, not in any meaning they may or may not have intended. While the guitar tones can feel a bit sloppy, this seems to be a deliberate stylistic choice blending 60s and 70s influences with modern distortion. The result is a dense, gritty sound that captures the band's persona, even if it doesn't quite land for everyone. Ultimately, the album feels like a homage to British rock wrapped in a confident, if somewhat exhausting, package. It is a listen that relies heavily on its anthemic qualities rather than subtle creativity. I'd usually give an album I didn't like 3/5 if I feel it succeeded at what it aimed for regardless of if it was my style. But for a such a hyped band that claimed to be the best in the world and better than the Beatles, I was left wanting. 2/5

I’ve never really fucked with Oasis, and the opening of this album made me wonder if that was a mistake. The first four tracks are incredibly strong, and oof the drums, mixing and vocal production are all absolute 🔥. The songs are good. Once we’re past Don’t Look Back In Anger (their best song imo), however, its a steep slide into a tedious and repetitive offering Liam’s limited vocal range, Brit Invasion inspired riffs & Beatlesque harmonies (She’s Electric could pass for an Abbey Road B-side) to carry us through the remainder of the album until the Champagne Supernova closer (ok, this is probably objectively their best song.) A pleasant, if underwhelming listen.

Dad rock in all it's glory. I liked that one song.

There are nice songs on this album but overall I don’t get it.

Nunca he conectado con oasis, creo que suena a un público y un momento sumamente específico de la vida.

I was into Oasis when younger, like most it would seem, but it was probably after this album that I lost interest, maybe because of this album. Maybe it was because they were becoming so popular or maybe just because the music wasn’t as good…and this is not as good as their debut! My interest was no doubt turning elsewhere. I really can’t remember the last time I listened to this album before today, it felt so familiar yet largely passed me by. Minus 1 star for the Gallagher factor.

favs: roll with it wonderwall don’t look back in anger hey now! rating 1.7/5

Music for coked up dads whose children no longer love them

Sorry Bros, Oasis doesn't do anything for me. I can tell it is well made, but it was a chore to get through this album. I need other songs interspersed to enjoy Oasis, I can't handle full concentration Oasis!

I'm loving she's electric very fun playful song good lyrics its a good weird song and wonderwall is great to I'm giving the album solid 4.81/10 overall

Idkkkk??? Boring ig. Know some songs aber das fixed das ganze nicht 🍃

Glam! Okay but not my jam

1. hello - 1 2. roll - 1 3. uuonder - 3 4. anger - 2 5. hey - 2 6. zuuamp - 1 7. zay - 2 8. zhadouu - 1 9. electric - 1 10. glory - 2 11. 12. zupernova - 2

I'm not wading through 3 discs to listen to this overhyped Britpop crap. They are overrated and overplayed and so up themselves, I just can't. Ok, one or two tracks are ok but because of the aforementioned, it was over before it began for me.

Ya me pudri de estas canciones porque sonaron por todos lados. No estan mal, solo que no me gustan.

I think one of the few people that think Oasis is very mid at best.

It’s just not a good album despite a couple of ok tracks

I've tried. I've tried to like Oasis. I DO really like one Oasis song (Don't Look Back in Anger). It seems like I should like Oasis. People who like Oasis like the same music I like. People who don't like Oasis don't like the music I don't like. I don't like Oasis.

I expected this to be just 'ok' but it was actually far worse than that. I found myself quite bored for most of it. I don't understand how music can be so dull and also so aggravatingly catchy all at once. Why Oasis have a legion of fans who treat them like the greatest rock band in history I will never know. The album sounds much more dated than most of it's brit-pop contemporaries. That could be simply because it is so heavily associated with that specific time, rather than a fault of the music itself but it's hard to be sure. There is very little of interest going on musically, the vocals are unpleasant sounding, a lot of the riffs and progressions are just pulled straight from other musician's work. Champagne Supernova at least has that quality that makes you feel nostalgic for something that never actually existed, which is kind of hard to pull off, so well done I guess. After sitting through the whole thing and generally resenting it I still found myself singing "Sooooo sallly can waaaaait" on my walk home from the office. Despicable.

sei lá, eu acho que simplesmente não gosto muito de britpop

I was somewhat excited when I saw this come up in rotation. I had fond memories of this album from when it was released. On listening however I found this to be somewhat stodgy. Not as exciting or electric as it felt 30 years ago.

the story is i don’t love this album by kate

I was really tempted to give this a 1, but this is probably a disservice. As someone who was a kid even past be here now and was at uni when they split, Oasis has always been the dominant band within yer normal brit taste. I hated it, I hated them, I hated how they had ripped past bands like Suede and Pulp and numerous Britpop bands, even Stone Roses, that they were never as good as, and we had to swallow it and nod along while the 100th person of the day shouts out Wonderwall. I did this project partly to reevaluate what I liked and disliked growing up and whether my tastes have matured. They obviously havent because this still sounds like shit. Catchy though

Blah Pop Rock

I have never really liked this album, couple of tracks are ok

A singles band, but two stars for the couple of good ones on here. Tom.

Never got in to oasis back in the day, and I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything from this album outside the hits. They were definitely ubiquitous enough that even the most casual fan could belt out wonderwall at the impromptu guitar circle back in the 90s, but they never hit me as a band with much depth. Having just listened for the first time… yeah, definitely made a good call there.

Liam has a very monotone whiny (or isi t nasal delivery). The album felt a lot like a variation on the same theme, not super innovative.

I find Oasis hard to rate objectively because for one, I just find them insufferable as an institution, and for another, I think the music is fine but it’s hard to separate from the cult. I admittedly didn’t get it at the time but I was well aware that plenty of people did, and I’m not one to suggest I’m better than everyone else. The ‘battle of Britpop’ was never about the music of course; we all know Blur and Oasis sound worlds apart. It was always about class and North v South. So it’s always been hard to criticise Oasis without coming across as a snob. Noel was undoubtedly talented when it came to writing music that was catchy and fun to sing along to. The songs just lack any lyrical depth or cohesion. It’s all rhyming couplets that sound philosophical but mean nothing. Of course they ‘captured the zeitgeist’ and became pub and stadium anthems and nobody can argue against the popularity. But it’s ok to sit and listen to Wonderwall and acknowledge that it rhymes and scans but is ultimately complete nonsense, while also admiring the fact that it inspired millions to sing along to it. So I’m not attempting to claim this wasn’t an important or hugely influential album in 1995. But it’s also completely derivative with virtually every chord progression ripped from somewhere, and lacks the urgency and energy of their debut. Also not much of a surprise that they ran out of steam after just two albums.

I hoped that listening to an entire Oasis album would improve my opinion of them, I really did. I already knew (and disliked) "Wonderwall," of course, but I had to give the rest of the album a chance. But sadly, no, this just wasn't interesting enough to get my attention. It wasn't even engaging enough for me to be able to describe what it is that I don't like about it other than just "it was irritating." 2 stars

Just because I m ew lots of the words doesn't mean I liked it...

Like three songs on this album have carried this band for 30 years

Highly overrated and feels boring

Never heard of this album, except for Wonderwall. Favorites: - Wonderwall - Cast No Shadow - Morning Glory - Champagne Supernova Thoughts: Definitely a mood specific album. It's a little too rock for me sometimes, but I liked Cast No Shadow and Wonderwall a lot.

I have long disliked Oasis. So this was tough to get through. Wonderwall was an automatic skip after hearing it millions of times. I give it an extra star because I kinda like Don’t look back in anger.

Ça sonne le cul quand même hein? Oasis c'est aussi bon qu'une beurrée margarine et miracle whip sur tranche de pain blanc pom.

They'll never make me like you, Oasis.

Not as intolerable as their hits but I just didn't really enjoy it.

Uiteindelijk trek ik die stem niet. Kende wel verrassend veel nummers. Blijft een beetje jongetjes die stoer rockbandje spelen. Ik geloof ze niet

Moody bitches

Fine, I know the hits and that was fun. However, I don't think I would go back to the rest of it. Not bad just not overly impressive either.

I like it most when it's ripping off the Beatles. Honestly they are pretty good at imitating that songwriting style and it's kind of effective. I don't appreciate the layer of 90s indie and swagger that seem to apply over everything. Guitars are just a little bit too "rock star" to serve the songs for my tastes

I avoided this review for a long time. Oasis nearly perfectly encapsulates everything wrong with Britpop. It's boring, exceptionally unoriginal, devoid of memorable musical talent, and sounds just like about 100 other British bands. Oasis answers the question: what if the Beatles made more songs and let Ringo them? Not what if they made better songs or continued their evolution post Let It Be or reunited in 1980. Just what if they made more songs with their worst singer? That's Oasis. Coldplay with worse singing and better songwriting. Influence 4 (and I'll never understand it). Quality 3. Hits 5. Intangibles 3 (honestly, this and A Rush of Blood to the Head should be on this list - but none of the other 50 or so Britpop trash piles that are). I so want to bomb this album, but it IS a big deal 1.

Oasis elevou o conceito de "bandinha". Disco cansativo, especialmente pelo excesso e guitarras com eco que preenchem todos os espaços e pelo vocal estressante, além de um baterista medíocre.

Well, I liked it better than Definitely Maybe, but it still kinda reminds me of my least favorite Beatles tunes. Still not a fan of Liam Gallagher's voice, still think the guitars are too shrill and brittle, still feel like the entire mix was put through a high pass filter to kill the bass, still feel like most of the songs are several choruses too long. Favorite tracks are probably "Morning Glory" and "Champagne Supernova", because they at least do something a little interesting and different from the rest of the album.

Wonderwall, I've already heard this one at many places, but now I finally discovered its name. The rest of the album didn't appreciate me that much, bc I don't like rock/metal that much

A Brit pop classic. I’m sure it was groundbreaking at the time, but hard to find much of note now

Boring, predictable, easy to fall asleep to.

a few amazing choruses but way too moany

Never was a fan of Oasis.

I am famously an Oasis hater. They make music for college aged men to learn on guitar to try to impress a girl at a party. Wonderwall is the stupidest song. She’s Electric also has extremely dumb lyrics. Champagne Supernova is excessively long and just repeats “while we were getting high” over and over. Such an overrated band

Não é o meu álbum favorito mas é um bom álbum com uma duas músicas que já estou nas minhas playlists

Britpop rock, not my top genres at all, but thought intro to "Hello" was pretty cool. Nice album to listen to in the background-not distracting.

PD: me he vuelto a aburrir esta tercera vez.

Perhaps the most overrated British rock album release of the last 30 years. They only contribute one track that sounds even remotely original ("Wonderwall") and a bunch of terrible knockoffs that are a melange of The Beatles and oddly enough, what sounds like The Allman Brothers band. Even more horrendous than being practically nothing but imitators, they have a terrible vocalist who belts the most Moon, June, simpleton lyrics of a cadre of bands like: The Verve, Suede, Blur. These a few other male dominated brit rock bands of a certain wankery from the 1990s, should have been gathered together and for the sake of the rest of us, fired into the sky into a thermonuclear supernova.

This is a few hit songs and a bunch of weaker deep cuts.

It's just all right. Not a fan of the aggressive, raw, loud lyrics; is Liam Gallagher unironically considered a good vocalist? Wonderwall is a terrible song.

I have honestly never heard of them before BUT I have had heard their most popular songs from this album out in the world or social media #3 Wonderwall and #4 Don’t Look Back In Anger. The two song the caught more of my attention were #5 Hey now and The swamp song version 1-2 were more of my usual taste when it comes to music. This song lyrics are great #8 Cast No Shadow. If a man could express their feelings in one song I believe it would be this one.

it is a bit to slow in my opinion

Slip inside the eye of your mind Don’t you know you might find A less dull and whiney album?

The second star is to admit that the songs are fine. Just really can't stand the voice of Liam Gallagher

it's fine, like RHCP. just don't see myself listening to oasis on any occasion. favorites: Hello, Wonderwall, It's Better People 2.8 community rating prediction: 3.4

good music to have in the background, didn’t keep me very engaged though

2.0 not offensive but not anything else ether

Decided to approach this in a purely logical, unemotional fashion. Hello - 2/10 Roll with it - 4/10 - Chorusey bit is quite strong but the 'roll with it section' drives me crazy Wonderwall - 1/10 - maybe the most confusing song in popular music history. Confusing like, what on earth do people see in it. Don't look back in anger - 8/10 - definitely very amazing, but it's hard to enjoy a song you've heard so many times Hey now - 3/10 - again, there's one good section which it's nice to have repeated, but the rest is extremely dull Swamp song 3/10 - feels unoasisy to have an instrumental interlude in the middle of the album, but it doesn't offer much does it Some might say 7/10 - good track Cast no shadow 7/10 - good track She's electric 6/10 - good track, but the crass lyrics clash horribly with the extremely family friendly sound. Which kinda summaries Oasis doesn't it? Morning glory 3/10 - lad rock Swamp song 2 2/10 - really losing interest at this point Champagne supernova 6/10 - too long 52/120 = 2 stars

This was a super popular album the year I graduated high school. You would think it would be very memorable and a few songs are but mostly what I remember is the Gallagher brothers being next level jerks to each other and their fans. I think fame they received from their first few albums destroyed their minds at a fairly young age and they were forever incapable of operating in normal society. Listening to the music now it actually seems pretty lame. It's crazy how little staying power it had considering how popular it was.

Not a huge fan, don’t care for the live/demo versions

скучно, душно, не интересно

Some catchy and poppy songs and the rest is a bit bland. Wonderwall really is a terrible song

Ok so this album has the same problems as the last oasis album I reviewed for this list (definitely maybe). It’s just so sonically homogeneous and alittle boring. The hits really hold the whole thing together. They are fairly well spaced but sadly there’s only like 4 on the whole album which is literally only 25%. For the album to only be memorable or note worthy a quarter of the time is not good. Honestly I’m starting to think Oasis is possibly one of the most overrated bands, at least of my generation.

Here we are. Final album from Oasis. In a continuing trend for this list the randomiser is dredging up ever-bigger blasts from the past. I listened to Definitely Maybe over 300 albums ago, which is easily the biggest album gap to date. Unlike Definitely Maybe, I've listened to What's the Story before. It helped me to very quickly identify that britpop wasn't for me, though Wonderwall and Don't Look Back in Anger are both pretty decent. I find it entertaining that this album is simultaneously regarded as one of the greatest albums and the single most overrated album by the British public. That's a very characteristically British thing to do, especially when it comes to one of the most avowedly patriotic music genres on the planet. Anyways, I'm keen to give this album another shake. I have a slightly improved opinion of this album now that I've heard it for the third time. The washed-out style isn't as stale as I remember it being, and there are some pretty decent vocal melodies spread across all of the tracks. Admittedly, the album has a limited appeal to me beyond those heavy-hitter tracks, but it's offerings are enough to hold my attention for most of the runtime. "Wonderwall" is a stand-out tune, obviously. There's a pitch-shifted version of this song that I used to listen to when I was going through my mid-teen cringe phase (https://preservetube.com/watch?v=egs941JLQY4). I used to prefer it over the original because I liked the vocal style more. God, I'm so embarassing. Anyways, great track. The vocal style is pretty effective, and I really like how the strings intersect with the earnest-sounding guitars. It's very difficult to capture a feeling of a longing within music, but this song does it very well. Not to downplay Wonderwall, but "Don't Look Back In Anger" completely blows it out of the water. While I'm generally disaffected by the britpop vocal style, it works fantastically here. I really like how it's constantly building while simultaneously being gratifying all the way through. Few songs can tiptoe that line properly. "Champagne Supernova" is a good closer. I like the vulnerable vocals, and the acoustic guitar is yet another good pick. It's been too long since I last rolled a huge, significant, trailblazing album. Feels good to roll another. I won't check the book for reasons why this is in here - I already know it's a big deal. I cosign this inclusion.

4 radio bangers on one album???

Not for me

This album brings me back to my youth but it is still quite annoying, starting from the famous singles: as many have already noticed Liam Gallagher's singing is a constant whining howl... In comparison Oasis' first album (that I had never bothered to listen to before today) sounds much more enjoyable...

It's honestly incredible how long I managed to avoid this album considering the recent surge in oasis hype. I'm not really sure what I was expecting, maybe something gentler? Wasn't necessarily pleased to find this pouty, noisy boyfest. Consider your yum yucked

So, I don’t think I’ll ever understand the success of Oasis and how they’re considered such a legendary band. Liam Gallagher literally just whines in every single song, and it’s the most annoying thing ever. That said, if it wasn’t for Liam Gallagher, I’ll admit that the music aspect of Oasis really isn’t that bad.

I've only heard the radio songs from Oasis and now it's kind of clear why. The other songs on this album are pretty forgettable. I accept that Wonderwall is good, but I've heard it more than enough times in my life and am fine never hearing it again. Don't Look Back in Anger and Champagne Supernova are better than I remember but not so good that I want to listen to them more.

Before listening, I realized that I had never heard Wonderwall before. I was so disappointed when I listened to it. It's not an interesting song at all... why is it so popular? Why is this album popular? It's BORING!

Nobody can really slate a band that has sold millions of records and are liked by so many. They must have done something right. For what it is, it’s a well crafted album. I’ve never liked Oasis though, and listening to this hasn’t changed that.

Did not care for this.

Absolutely monster hits, but wow outside of that I didn't care for anything about this record. I couldn't even tell you anything about it if it didn't involve "Wonderwall", "Don't Look Back In Anger", and "Champagne Supernova"

When I bought this album on CD when it first came out I remember I listen to it a few times ripped the three songs I liked and gave it to my sister. Many years later I feel the same about this album a few great songs but otherwise not worth keeping around.

Die Stimme ist nach wie vor nölig und ich fühle es nicht.

Hate the voice, first song gives Gary glitter a writing credit. Lyrics are rubbish. Mixed loud as sin. However, It's an incredibly strong collection of anthems, even if I don't like them. There are some songs on here which I don't know that don't irritate me - I guess it's a victim of being overplayed to death

Okayish album, but I find Oasis too mellow and soft.

Anyway, here's Wonderwall. (Feels like it is the strongest of the first 3 songs, Hello and Roll With it sort of meld into each other) Sometimes I enjoy yell/singing, but so far I feel more irritated with the style than moved by it. I could see how it could be cathartic for someone to sing along to these songs in a crowd, but beyond that? Meh. The highs are high, and the lows are pretty mediocre. The album gets better the deeper you get into it - by the time you hit the eponymous track, it's easier to digest what the album is trying to say. Not sure if it is as timeless as many would say - but it adds to the charm of the album. Feels like it's one of those "you had to be there" albums. The impact is lost on me as the era it existed in is unfamiliar to me. I saw another review describe this as "competent but boring." I have to agree. Production is solid, and is able to conjure up an image of the mid-90s UK rock scene, but just doesn't move me.

Off the cuff remark: is it familiarity that breeds contempt? A begrudging nod to Roll With It before I nodded off.

Fucking turds maybe I’ll like it one day

The high point of these mediocrities.

I mean..Wonderwall speaks for itself

Can’t believe I had to listen to a full Oasis album…the things I do for this list. I’ve been unable to avoid the singles off this album so was familiar with them, and the rest of the album was more of the same. I just find them so bland. When music critic Simon Price said they have no fast rocking songs he was hounded for it, but he’s right! These songs plod along with no urgency or heart. The band were already a sort of religion in the UK and it’s been made even worse with the recent reunion. Seeing America pretend they always loved the band has just been bizarre knowing they famously flopped over there first time round. I just don’t get it man.

A ono, dosta dosadnjikavo, uz par hitova. Nije mi ovo za više od 2/5, 4/10

Oasis’s 1995 album (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? is often hailed as a Britpop classic, but beneath its swaggering exterior lies an overhyped and uneven collection of songs that hasn't aged as gracefully as its reputation suggests. While tracks like “Wonderwall” and “Don’t Look Back in Anger” have become anthems of the era, the album suffers from bloated production and a lack of real variety. Many of the songs blur together in a haze of distorted guitars and recycled chord progressions, revealing the band’s limitations in both songwriting depth and originality. Liam Gallagher’s vocals, while iconic, are often grating across an entire album listen, and the lyrical content—frequently vague and bordering on nonsensical—fails to offer much emotional or intellectual substance. For all its cultural significance, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? ultimately feels like a triumph of attitude over artistry. It’s a record that promised more than it delivered, riding the wave of '90s hype rather than building something timeless.

I never understood this band. It actually fills me with dread every time I hear it. His voice is so irritating and never goes away. And the songs are boring

Firstly, what an opening to an album, instantly you are sucked in to the rock n roll. Not going to lie, I’ve only heard a few Oasis songs before this (I do roll my eyes at Wonderwall, sorry it’s a good song it’s just overplayed and straight men may have ruined it for me), but this album did make me see the hype. A true 90s Britpop album, I love the calm, cool and collected voice and vibe of Oasis. A song highlight Some Might Say. Some of the songs drag on, but still a great album and I so get why it’s essential listening!

2.2/chappell did it better. anyway, here's wonderwall

I wasn't a huge fan of Definitely Maybe. (What's The Story) Morning Glory is supposedly the 'pinnacle' of Oasis. Pitchfork: 8.9 Rolling Stone: Top 500 Albums #157 Best Songs Wonderwall Don't Look Back In Anger Champagne Supernova

I liked the couple of iconic songs on there.

Trying not to overthink it, but this band doesn’t make any sense. Apart from the cliche that they want to be the Beatles and the Sex Pistols at the same time. But do neither. Sonically a bit of a mess. Lyrically awful. One or two redeeming moments and a bit of nostalgia.

2 never noticed how dull this album was until now . wonderwall and champagne supernova are ok, i suppose .

Two Oasis albums in a row… why would you do that to me

This is a tough grade, I was really torn between 2 and 3. The best Oasis hits are here (Wonderwall and Champagne Suprenova are underrated), but the filler is rough, just a lot of noise.

A slight improvement on their previous album... but still a no for me. It’s pleasant enough to listen as background music, but I can’t help but feel these guys just thought « Hey, let’s redo the Beatles for a modern audience ! » and called it a day. It’s bland pop-rock tailored for radio stations, derivative to the point of feeling like plagiarism. And what’s with the murky sound ? You’d think after the success of their first album they’d have invested in better production. Or maybe they drank their previous earnings at the local pub. I’ll be generous and give it a 2* out of misguided nostalgia (« Wonderwall » was constantly playing everywhere in 1995, so it does bring out memories), but it probably deserves less.

Ok, lite långrandig

A few very good songs but not a good record. I find the mid temp rock pretty bland. There is much better Brit pop.

A bunch of whiny Mancunian nonsense

lo bueno de si te gusta oasis es que te gustan todas

Maybe, sooner or later, I'll be able to figure out what drives so many people crazy about Oasis.

Another one which is hard to rate because it’s so deep in the consciousness. I was quite excited by Oasis when they first appeared but I hated what they turned into…

Just not for me. I do not care for Oasis.

Having spent many years listening to emo I will never again take shit from people about how I enjoy bands where the singers have terrible whiny voices. At least those singers actually have emotion in their voice and aren't holding everything at an arms-length irony barrier like Liam Gallagher is - and everyone loves Oasis!! I honestly don't mind the songwriting and the melodies are great but I can't get past the personalities. The production doesn't help either - guitars are shoegazey but mixed into this far back wall of sound approach where you can't pick any instruments out of it.

So anyway, here's Wonderwall

Mediocre. Too mediocre, it's boring. White noise would be better cause they are less noisy.

I've never liked this album, but wanted to give it the old college try again. Same feelings, it's an overally loud album and nothing interesting happens in it's duration. Songs are overly long.

Ok but I'd never listen on purpose. Best track - Champagne Supernova

When I say that I remain skeptical of Brit-pop, albums like this are why. (What's The Story) Morning Glory is one of the most acclaimed albums in the Brit-Pop space, one of the best selling as well, and it's an absolute hit parade too. However, I just don't really like this album. Oasis' game here seems to be simple, elegant pop song writing, with a massive chorus on every song. For me, the problem here is that by swinging for the fences every time, Oasis often misses. A lot of these songs seem engineered to be the most effective arena rock songs possible, but it feels like Oasis doesn't earn a lot of these choruses. On the other couple of Britpop albums I've heard through this project, there were always some surprising little detours to expand their sound, but there really isn't much that surprised me here at all. I'd like to note that this approach to songwriting isn't intrinsically bad for me, but there really isn't anything about Oasis that sells me on it here. There isn't anything exceptional to me about the singing here, or the playing for that matter. There isn't much of an exciting rock edge here, but Oasis also doesn't sell me on the melodicism here. There weren't really any lyrics that stand out to me, and I don't really find the Gallaghers to be compelling figures either. There just isn't anything I find really interesting about Oasis' sound to sell these huge songs. I will say, there are a couple of songs that help out quite a bit here, but first I would like to briefly acknowledge Wonderwall. Wonderwall is kind of a fine song at the end of the day, but it may be in the running for the most played out singular song on the entire list. If not for this list, I could have probably gone the rest of my life without intentionally listening to this song. With that out of the way, let's discuss some positives. Hello and Morning Glory are both songs with some fun, driving energy and end up pretty decent and help give the project some momentum. Don't Look Back In Anger is one of the only choruses here that I really buy into, it kinda hits. Also, Champagne Supernova highlights one of the merits to this songwriting style. Despite being 7 minutes long, it feels as brisk as anything else here as it builds from chorus to chorus, it helps that this song has some of the best melodies here. However these songs can only help so much, and I still feel that a 2 is appropriate here.

Better than the first one, slightly nostalgic for the Oregon trail generation, but ultimately a lot of meh.

Wonderwall first thing on a Monday morning. Thanks.

Like kje Oasis :(

Probably one of the most overrated bands around. Boring

Before I head into this album I must profess that while I try to keep my listens and reviews as fair and unbiased as possible I have my limits. I dislike Oasis immensely. The Ghallagers are generationally unlikable, and their many public feuds remain an embarrassment to popular music. Add their pending completely transparent cashgrab of a reunion tour and you have one of the most annoying bands to ever exist, and that's before we even get to their music. Musically, well as far as I'm concerned they're nothing special, just loud and annoying. After getting that out of the way it's time for the actual listen. Gonna try to be fair. My expectations for this listen are low. At least I know there's one song on here that's sort of listenable. Hello I hate this production style. Everything just meshes into a compressed, lifeless blob. Horribly whiny delivery. There are some catchy melodies in there. I kinda like the idea behind the subtle vocal echo. Horribly screechy guitar. Dislike. 2/5 Roll With It Lifeless. The chorus is kinda catchy I suppose, though it hardly comes through when delivered so off-puttingly. The production still stinks. Peters out into an unfocused, uninteresting mess. Strongly Dislike. 1.5/5 Wonderwall Plague upon society. It's at least memorable I guess. Holy hell it's obnoxious though. Gave us some great youtube edits however, and that's gotta count for something. The whinyness isn't THAT bad on this track. The lyrics are a bit sweet, though quite nonesensical too. Every part of this song is iconic in some way. I get some ironic enjoyment out of it at least, so I cannot say it's terrible. Fine I guess. 3/5 Don't Look Back In Anger Really like the melody of the verse. Has some fun lyrical imagery. Great structure to start. Fantastic buildup to an absolute belter of a chorus. Decent delivery as well. Love the background guitar. However as repetitive as it is, they know what a great chorus they have so of course they're gonna milk it to it's fullest. Fun solo. Still quite annoying, and the production remains obnoxious as hell. Decent. 3.5/5 Hey Now! Forgettable. Has every issue previously discussed from this album, but also manages to achieve being boring as hell. Phoned in guitar solo. Headache inducing. Never ends. A bad day to have ears. 1/5 The Swamp Song - Version 1 Half a bonus point for having no Gallagher belting over it. Another half a bonus point for being less than a minute long. Average. 2.5/5 Some Might Say Grating on the ears. Ok vocal melody on the verse. Alright chorus. Terrible lyrics, cringeworthy. Repetitive, annoying, overstays its welcome. Strongly dislike. 1.5/5 Cast No Shadow I kinda appreciate the added instrumental elements, it's a nice break from the monotony. The slow tempo doesn't do it that many favours. Does not have the storytelling qualities or the vocal performance to keep it interesting. Repetitive, though not unpleasant. Just a bit boring. Strongly dislike the backing vocals. Average. 2.5/5 She's Electric Fun instrumental. The lyrics are strange, but kinda charming I guess. Weak chorus. The vocals are especially grating towards the end. Average. 2.5/5 Morning Glory Horrible guitar intro. Is it supposed to sound like air raid sirens? Decent bassline. Has all the great qualities a great alarm tune, even screams "wake up" if you're confused about what you're supposed to be doing. I'd definitely wake up from it. Unpleasant in every concievable way. Torturous. 1/5 The Swamp Song - Version 2 Half a bonus point for having no Gallagher belting over it. Another half a bonus point for being less than a minute long. Average. 2.5/5 Champagne Supernova Plague upon society. Nonesensical lyrics. Annoying song structure. Endlessly repetitive. Draining. The worst offender when it comes to this particular style of production. Just sounds so homogenous and overbearing. Never fucking ends does it? Shitshow. 1/5 Yeah that was pretty miserable not gonna lie. It's not the worst thing ever recorded, but it did leave me with a headache. I've been banging on about everything I don't like for so long that repeating it would be redundant. So here's a few things I did enjoy: - The choruses are mostly fine, even catchy at times. Their anthemic energy works well within the loudness of the mix. - While I don't like their voice I do like the snarky attitude they bring to many of the songs. - There's usually a tonne of energy present, wether it's in the drums, the guitars and even at times the bass they truly give their all. - No song seems to be there on accident. The tracklist is consistent, and the individuals songs fit where they've been put allowing for some decent pacing. Despite these points it's clear that this band is not for me and won't ever be a favourite. I'm tempted to give it one star, but that's just my personal biases speaking. Realistically it isn't terrible, especially considering the love people have for this album almost 30 years later. I just don't like any of it. 2/5

This list is making me discover the depths of my hate for Britpop in general and now Oasis in particular. The Gallagher boys seem to think that winning the volume wars was equivalent to producing superior music. They were quite wrong.

Loud instruments, same guitar, same drums, same voice tone, horrible mix... That's what you get when you listen to this album.

Oasis are one of those bands. The music is either painfully avergae but catchy or something just bad. This was the former of the two.

This is a pretty boring album; it's essentially fodder to be played over the PA system in a Cabela's.

13/1001. Guess I have to listen to a complete Oasis album. Wankers wanking with their guitars, and then putting up immortal classics is a tough mixture for me. I'm slowly realising this book seems to like electric guitars, and western pop way more than what my personal preferences are. But there is no similar website for the 1000 recordings you must hear before you die… So what to say. Most of the songs for me are boring and bland and the attitude is obnoxious. But Wonderwall and Don't Look Back in Anger are undisputed classics to be ruined time and again in campfires around the world. A 2 for that.

So anyways here wonderwa. 3/10

Somewhat boring album, but I would still see them live just to watch the Gallagher brothers banter.

Did not age well. These guys are the arrogant pricks we always thought they were and have half the musical talent they thought they did.

I know there are some big hits on this album, but I’ve never been a fan of oasis and I’m still not. I just don’t like his voice. Sounds whiney and nasally to me.

Hmmm. This bit of Britpop hasn't aged well at all. Was never a massive fan in the first place and it's not got better over the years. Top it off it's an awful compressed recording that hurts the ears.

There are a few bands I'd like to see reform for that last hoorah.. This isn't one of them..

A few songs are familiar and likable. Overall, I can do without them.

Ugh. Every song sounds the same.

not my favorite.. but wonerwall i a classic

Je juge l'album. La musique et son originalité pour une génération d'adolescents. Et je fais comme si je ne les avais jamais vu en concert dans des festivals où je n'ai pas gardé des souvenirs fantastiques de leur prestation.

I never liked Oasis so much and when I listen again to this album it does remind me few memories. It looks to me over rated. Some nice music but seems a bit repetitive.

Surprised to see it held up. Still tremendously boring music though.

kind of boring ..? the songs all sounded the same. I liked some tho!

I do not understand the appeal of this band. It’s borderline corny and is trying to be rock even though it’s clearly pop…. sounds the same to me. Half-screaming vocals, not so great lyrics and the instrumentation is noisy, repetitive guitar shit.

1 great song, 1 great meme-able song, and the rest is pretty shit.

For the life of me, I do not understand the appeal of this band. Everything sounds the same to me. Half-screaming vocals (the lead's voice is neither pleasant nor interesting); lyrics are mostly dumb, and the instrumentation is noisy, repetitive guitar shit.

Never could quite get into these guys. Was always kind of British mopey music to me... kind of just grey rainy skies without much dynamics. Then there was the issue of the two brothers seemingly being assholes.

I never understood the hype around this band who thought they were gods but put out mid music at best. Far inferior to Pulp and Blur.

Not really my vibe but I understand why there was appeal.

I honestly don’t get the hype about this band. I think they’re so overrated. They have some beautiful songs too in particular on this album but overall they’re pretty boring, but they do give a great interview.

I've never liked Oasis. I've always thought they were boring, bland, Beatles rip-offs. Probably doesn't help that both Gallaghers are bellends and so many young guys around me growing up acted like Liam clones Given those 2 are such provocative arseholes you'd think their music would have a bit of bite to it but it's so tame. Hello is the closest it gets to having any grit, and Roll With It is a decent follow up but the album just becomes so bland after that. It's not terrible music, but I just find it so uninteresting During Don't Look Back In Anger, I reminisced on when I played in a band at uni. We played a variety of alt rock and heavy metal and thought we needed a crowd pleaser, so started rehearsing that one off the cuff. Maybe halfway through, everyone stopped all at once and agreed it was boring, and it was immediately dropped. Haven't changed my thoughts 6 years later Boring laddy pub rock dross. 2.5 Highlights: Hello, Roll With It

The deeper cuts are enjoyable but man do I hate the singles from this album.

**BRITSLOP BOSS BATTLE** Wow, I actually didn't hate this. There was a few songs I enjoyed, but a lot that I couldn't care less for. My main gripe with this record is how fucking boring it is. After the """"hits"""" - I'd genuinely pay money to never have to hear that song again - it really doesn't get interesting, in fact the opposite. Mediocre and monotone singing, boring ass Britpop guitars, nothing fun about it at all. Boooooring.

If this is supposed to be the face of this obnoxious, bowl cut laden genre then I just don't think it is for me

Any alright songs on this album are nearly all ruined by the dowager vocalist. Especially noticeable on morning Glory and Champagne supernova 4/10 Fav tracks - Don't look back in Anger, Hey Now

The opening track on this album has a writing credit to Gary Glitter. It is also probably the only song on this album where the lyrics are not just word salad. This VERY beloved album is very much a reflection of the UK at the time, a lot of good vibes and boisterousness obscuring a whole lot of nothing (Oasis predicted Tony Blair). No song on this album means anything apart from the title track which is just about doing cocaine in the morning - the closest the album comes to a single coherent thought which is impressive as I am convinced that Liam Gallagher has not fired a single synapse in his life. I am fortunate to have avoided consciously listening to Oasis until a few years ago so I do not have a great nostalgia for this album as many people do. When I first listened to Oasis I made a concerted effort to listen to all their albums and watch the doco Supersonic to see what all the fuss was about. Listening to this again, I realise that I only remember a handful of songs here mainly because those same songs are so ubiquitous in public probably as part of some Malthusian government scheme to export English depression around the world to convince people to commit suicide en masse. The Brothers Gallagher are often noted for their reverence of the Beatles and specifically John Lennon. This is reflected in their music because they have guitars and drums and stuff and Liam wears round sunglasses. The only thing that these bands have in common is a working class background and their 'rivalry' with a band with a more refined/university educated/wanker background (who are arguably better) in the form of The Rolling Stones/Blur. To quote Marx, “History repeats itself, first as a tragedy, second as a farce." The album is okay, I would listen to the highlights again but the filler here is awful and I cannot say this about many songs, but I genuinely hate Wonderwall and if there is a god, Noel and Liam Gallagher will replace Judas and Brutus in the mouth of satan in the 9th circle of hell for betraying humanity. Everytime some LOVELY PERSON plays Wonderwall at a house party, this is the mental image that helps me cope with being subjected to what could honestly be considered a musical hate crime. Just as LSD and pot were integral in the creative boom of music in the 60s and 70s; methamphetamine was responsible saving the world and totally ruining Oasis' American tour, thereby saving our universe from a dark future where these cunts were popular all over the world and not just Austerity Island. 'Where were you while we were getting high?' fortunate enough to not have been born for the cultural mass hysteria that was Oasis' peak fame. Highlights: Don't Look Back In Anger, Morning Glory, Champagne Supernova

The mixing / mastering of this album makes it borderline unlistenable

It's a 'me' problem - the songwriting is undeniable, I just personally hate that sound. Sorry Oasis fans. I always was a Pulp girl.

Catchy songs, hate the bands culture and don't particularly enjoy listening to them

I listened to this whole album in the morning, and there was nothing glorious about it. The album is carried by one big hit, and it wasn't much of an oasis. The singing reminds me of a cringy teen male. Favorite Song: "Wonderwall".

I don't like Oasis, I don't like the Gallagher brothers, I don't like that the band is held up as the gold standard of a genre I am very much fond of... Champagne Supernova is good though innit?

So loud.

It’s so familiar and I feel so fucking annoyed about it as I can’t listen to objectively. I liked the non singles but I don’t really ever want to hear Roll With It ever again.

FAVO: Dont look back in anger, Champagne Supernova

I'd like to focus this review around a single moment which I think sums up this album perfectly: "Don't Look Back in Anger" opening with what is, essentially, just the piano riff from John Lennon's "Imagine". Oasis were hardly the first (or last) band to be influenced by, or even directly lift from, the work of a Beatle or the combined Beatles. however, what troubled me about this introduction to "Don't Look Back in Anger" was that it felt to me as though Oasis were giving up the game. this is an element that contemporary reviews of this record really went after, and for good reason. it's one thing to pay homage to or write in the vein of one's influences (something Billy Joel has basically made an entire career out of), but it's another to bite them this directly. as many critics and musicologists have noted, "Don't Look Back in Anger" is far from the only example of such biting to be found here! this biting also serves to cover up the complete lack of ideas on display in Oasis' songwriting and production. I suppose this is pleasant enough while it's on; I wasn't actively offended by any of these 12 tracks, and a few of them are pretty familiar to me at this point thanks to the radio and the Rock Band games. but, once again, I run into the same problem I had with Devil Without a Cause: all of the sound and fury signifies nothing. these are attempts at loud, anthemic rock songs (right down to the string arrangements!), but they all feel completely hollow. not all rock music has to be about something, but it should at least be somewhat surprising! instead, I'm getting hit with this bricked out, mushy mixes and Liam Gallagher's caterwauling. that one Glassjaw song must've been written about his brother, who has less distinct songwriting qualities in his entire body than John Lennon had in his big toe. light 4/10.

I just don't get it

Whiny Brit-pop with the personality of a plate of mushed peas.

Jedna fajn písnička, světlejší okamžiky v jiných, jinak nezábavná hudba z nákupáků

There is a lot of hype around this album. I feel it has not aged well.

Don't look Back in Anger is a highlight. The rest either bore me or are just plain bad.

I totally understand that this album was popular in 1995 and a game changer for the band but I never liked it. It's mediocre, it's spineless, it's lukewarm Bud Light on a swollen wood table with water rings. It feels lazy and something about them is so corn-balled, I didn't enjoy this listen. Sure it's nostalgic, but it degraded over time. The question on the front cover should be "Which Gallagher is a bigger douche?". It get's a low 2.0.

An overrated band and album; however, still very listenable. Has the hits, which are good, with "Wonderwall" easily taking the top bill. Oasis made the leap to stardom with this album and set themselves up as the slacker Brit-rock Bros of the 90s which def appealed to the generation. I never was overly impressed and still not. Noel kept up the d-bag persona and just brought the team down over the years. Maybe deserves the list and certainly better than many others that have made it...2.45.

First time listening to more than the singles. 7 great singles but not sure it is all round 'best album-y' enough to be up there with the very best? Not sure, listened to the Great Escape straight after Best - Some Might Say Worst - Hey Now

I know Wonderwall was a big hit.. but I don’t understand why this album is on this list.

I didn't enjoy this. I could appreciate the lyrics and music but the singing just made me happy it was over. He has such a whiny shouting way of singing. I am glad I listened to it so I can say with certainty I am not a fan

Couldn't find any part of any song I really liked.

I never knew that this album was so incredibly long. I'm sad to say that this was almost 3 hours of the same exact song on repeat. I've heard so many good things about this one, too.

I mean, it's catchy, but not impressive or versatile in anyway. It's very bland one-note ear candy. Not exactly a shocker that AI can easily churn out Oasis songs 🤷

I don't like this. I understand they are popular. But I don't like them.

While I can recognize the cultural significance of this album, they are just insufferable.

Slăbuț , doar vreo două piese bune, nu l-as mai asculta niciodată în întregime - și nici măcar piesele alea nu le-aș salva în "favorite"

just strting, idk what i getting myself into

As bland as I remember it. Never understood the appeal.

Listening to Oasis is like shoving saltine crackers down my ear. By all accounts, I should love this album as an unashamed Britpop apologist, but it's like there's an evil demonic spirit hovering above these songs as I listen to them. It's not bad actually, but I still feel like I lost 5 years off my lifespan. Curse you, Gallagher brothers. NEXT DAY EDIT: They just teased an Oasis reunion, what the hell is happening.

This album kind of sucks. It's somewhat saved by the songs Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova, but only barely.

After having listened to this I understand why I never followed Oasis earlier at all

i can see why people love this album, but i'm definitely not one of those people.

God I hate this band. I hate the mediocre songs. I hate their stupid hairstyles. I hate the fact that I knew every word of the hits because they were hammered on the radio so much back then.

Serviu para lembrar os momentos da MTV e que realmente não suporto britpop.

Lacklustre

I was in my formative years when Oasis were huge. I won’t deny that there isn’t a bit of nostalgia for the popular hits. But I’ve also always thought they were completely overrated. Outside of those big hits this is a bit of a dud of an album. 2.5/5

Repetitive, boring, and super whiny vocals. The back half of the album was better, but just not good enough to get that 3rd star for me.

Maybeeeeh

All I can say is I’ve already listened to this once in my life previously and that’s enough. Among the first huge albums to be brickwalled and my ears cannot get past this travesty which alas many copied. And in the era of Blur vs Oasis I was listening to Frank Black, Massive Attack, Chemical Brothers, Leftfield, PJ Harvey. Oasis left me cold. 2/5 - some catchy tunes.

It's okay-ish. Descent production.

Pretty much every song on here is just as agreeable and unremarkable as Wonderwall, so I wasn't missing much when I never heard the other songs here and didn't gain much after I did.

I'm mature enough now to admit that I've jealous of this band. I still think they're lame but Don't Look Back in Anger, Champagne Supernova, and even Wonderwall are all objectively great tracks. Cast No Shadow and Morning Glory are also good lesser knowns. That said, every song ends with repeating the title for at least 30 seconds and it gets old so fast. Hello and Roll With It are both stupid tracks that don't set up the album for success at all. It might be a product of Oasis being part of the generation before me. I was 7 when this album dropped and Wonderwall was already a joke by the time I was getting into music. I just can't get over it.

It’s oasis… how good can it be?

Excuse me?!? "Where were you while we were getting high"?!? I was serving my country in the Cola Wars, mate. Doing my part. Not having a cheeky jangle and growing my eyebrows out like a knob. It's a little thing called "being a responsible citizen".

Mediocre album made into a horrible one by dickhead frontmen

Aside from "Champagne Supernova", this is strictly for buckethatted anglophile meatheads and any one interested in the Next Big Thing or absurdly demanding critical re-evaluation. Hard Pass.

"The new Beatles" lol

Champagne is a hit but this felt was boring and winey

Definitely some big sing-along hits on this album. My problem is I just don't feel good listening to Oasis.

Before: I had an oasis song on my iPod in middle school and loved it, so I am recklessly optimistic about this album. Roll with it - cool sound, no melody that jumps out at me Wonderwall - ah, a classic. Love the sound of the acoustic guitar. Don’t look back in anger - chill song Hey now - pretty good Some might say - I was bopping my head to this for sure She’s electric - oh no, I don’t like this one Champagne supernova - guitar solo saved it for me. Long though. Ugh, I had such high expectations. Too high. The songs on this album didn’t lock me in and make me want to listen to the whole thing through, so I was bouncing between my liked songs and this. I think that sums it up - fine in small bites but too much all at once. Like hummus. As an album, it didn’t hold up.

Just a bunch of Beatles wannabes. People defend this album

did not finish

Not as terrible as I was anticipating based on knowing Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova. Still didn't enjoy it though.

I don't dislike this, and I'm not likely to seek it out. It feels factory cranked out, though I have no basis for this assessment. If you're looking for deeper incite, I leave you disappointed.

lukewarm pop; oasis are a one hit wonder Significant 41/130 Liked 20/130 Added 5/130 NNN

I can't forgive humanity for making Wonderwall more famous than Champagne Supernova.

Anyway, here’s Wonderwall…

Popular but CRAP

The first few songs had me thinking that this was going to be a good listen. But the truth is that the entire album was vanilla: the same four chords, same arrangement, same production/mix, the same four notes sung over and over. I don't know why these guys got any hype at all. Even "Wonderwall" is a sugar cookie of a song.

couldn't really get thru the whole album.

2024, I am not feeling this at all. Saw them live as support to REM in Sloane were ok, better if you are drunk.

I didn't care for it - there are very similar-sounding bands from that time who I enjoy more

Wonderwall is such a cliche and also awesome.

Kinda sounded the same. Very bland. Wonder wall is a bop though.

It's okay, but not my thing

dnl not my style

This album is pretty overrated but champagne supernove and don't look back in anger are great.

Hat mich in den 90ern kalt gelassen bis genervt, ist heute nicht anders. Mainstream, der wohl seine Relevanz hat(te) - aber: Not for me.

I don’t know man, it ranges from mediocre to irritating. But it has a distinct mood.

I just don't really get it, can see how some tracks are considered anthemic but I just found myself underwhelmed

I am a bitter soul and hate Oasis purely for Wonderwall, unfortunately.

Yeah sorry I am a hater. Really sick of hearing a lot of these songs. I find these tracks so similar and safe and derivative that it really doesn't excite me all that much. It has its moments, but this doesn't meet the hype. Anyway, here's Wonderwall. Two and a half. Fave track: Champagne Supernova

Not to be rude, but this just isn't very good. I've never thought Oasis had any real talent, and listening to this album, it confirms my opinion. I'm giving it two stars because it's commercial i.e. clearly some people like it, and it's not horrible, it's just not at all good.

Literally had to stop this after the first song.

Whiny and loud, often kind of cacophonous and definitely overstimulating. Most of them blend together for me, though I recognize Wonderwall, of course. It's really obvious listening to them all in one go how incredibly nasal-y the lead singer's voice is, which is putting me off. However, I didn't hate She's Electric or Some Might Say!

Oasis lose a lot of their shine when you remember that the Gallaghers are two of the most insufferable dickheads ever. Favorite track: Champagne Supernova

Today is gonna be the day that I stop listening to this album 3 songs in

Oh christ its gonna be a whiny album isnt it?

I um... hum. I feel like the music warrants maybe a three—its not bad, and I've always enjoyed some of their top hits from this record like Wonderwall, Roll With It, and Champagne Superno(r)va. However, the execution—that is the mixing, the vocals in particular, and the relentless, consistent “blah” in the sound throughout the whole album, is all ear-achingly screechy and downright exhausting. Maybe it was the remastered version that I listened to, but my car stereo volume goes from 1-50, and I had to listen to this album at no more than 8—with road noise—without blasting out my eardrums. At this whisper of a volume, I could still hear the vocals with crystalline clarity, but if I dared “crank” the volume up to 10 or 11—you know, to even attempt to hear the instruments—I risked suffering hearing loss and/or a mental break down from the wall of treble they compiled. For context, most music or audiobooks on this stereo I listen to between 20-40, so clearly this mix VASTLY prioritized the vocal tracks above all else. Also a mistake, this version of the album is three times as long as the original, and I started to listen to all of it. 40 minutes in to the extra two hours of tracks and I couldn't take it any longer, and I threw in the towel. tldr; I'm fine with hearing ONE of their songs at a time mixed in with other top hits of the era, but to paraphrase the prophetic words of one Taylor Swift, I am never, ever, ever, listening to this album again. Like EVER.

This one wasn't really for me. I see the broad appeal; upbeat, catchy choruses, big guitar riffs, but it felt dated to me.

Against my better judgment, I’ve complied. Listening to Oasis. Hello is actually a fun track I would’ve eaten up at 16. Roll with it… meh, emo, pop punky, off-brand Beatles. Whiny!!! (Wonderwall). He thinks he’s John Lennon… (Don’t Look Back in Anger). But undeniably catchy chorus! Credit where credit is due. It’s basically Ricardo Arjona in English. Negativo el procedimiento. (Like I said, some promising hooks, like in She’s Electric, but it’s all so framed in this whiny boring package, I’m not interested). 2 stars to reflect the occasional good songwriting.

Nonsense lyrics

After 954 albums I’ve learned that I really dislike Brit-pop, and then this comes up today. This is noisy but the most annoying thing for me is the grating vocals. This album only redeemed by Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova which are decent pop songs. Hopefully this is the last of the Brit-pop

Shitebags

insufferable

2/5 Best: Champagne Supernova Worst: The Swamp Song

moins pire que je pensais. still très soft rock. 4.5/10

A bit too poppy for me but the album itself is very good

Wonderwall overrated. Pulp is the better britpop band

A few great songs, then some absolute dog shit. At the end of album, you are stupider.

Can’t say I’m the worlds biggest Oasis fan. This album is a good line drive, but in the heated debate of the better Brit rock revival band, Blur wins every time for me. There are some fun hooks here, and my daughter danced to a few tracks. Anyway… … …here's wonderwall

I enjoyed the swagger of their debut on relisten but this is too lumpen and coked out.

Mest megnið af þessari plötu var orðið mjög þreytt fyrir löngu síðan. Það er þó eitt lag þarna sem mér þykir enn mjög vænt um (Champagne Supernova)

Do I hate this because it's bad or because of how I feel about the Gallagher bros. We'll never know.

Jesus christ this was dull. Lyrically sounds like he found most of them in fortune cookies. Every song drones on the same way, and it sounds like he has a cold

I recall parts of this from my Childhood as my parents played it a bunch. I honestly thought this was better but nope, this is dull generic rock with annoying vocals. Not necessarily bad but aside from Champagne Supernova and maybe Don’t Look Back in Anger, this album is mostly filler. The Swamp tracks actually showed promise but I guess they were too scared to have a full track to go against the grain and they cut them both short. This has to be one of the most overrated albums of all time. Wonderwall is just lame, their name is lame and the album cover is lame. Even the Gallagher feud is overrated and lame, get over it or fuck off ffs. I wanna give this a 2, it’s probably too low but fuck it 2 stars

I didn't enjoy this one. It's very bright and pop-y, not a style I'm into. I will say the singers voice did fit the band well. However, I will never, ever understand the insane popularity of wonderwall. Listening to the album, I couldn't wait for it to be over.

Overrated

Man, I haven't listened to this album in a long time and I think it will be a long time before I listen to it again. That said, I didn't hate it.

Two absolute and utter wankbags spewing out middle of the road moderate rock. All been done before and better. Style over substance.

Starts off with a co-write by Gary Glitter and goes downhill from there. An absolutely turgid exercise, leaching off 1970s glam and 1960s mod rock but draining away the fun of the former and obliterating the skip and bounce of the latter. Instead, what we're left with is an oafish, charmless, pretentious period piece that is utterly emblematic of 'Cool Britannia' - ie painfully embarrassing.

The stuff that made the radio is great, but the rest of the album just drags it down to mediocre.

Few tunas, lotta snooze

meh....

Like kje Oasis :(

It's really hard to get past his voice. I also hate almost every drum fill.

Kind of basic

Les Britaniques ont un attachement à cet album que je ne m’explique pas. Il y a de bons trucs, mais c’est tout de même assez générique comme rock.

This was tolerable when it came out, and it had to be because it was on in almost every teenage bedroom. Listening now, my tolerance has gone. Poor vocals, meaningless lyrics, early years chord patterns. My opinion probably influenced by what intolerable ****s they are, but was still glad when it finished.

There are some good tunes here, but the singer basically ruins them. I would take straight up screeching over this nasal whining. There's a good album in there somewhere, but it's not this.

Another one I'm going into with a pretty extreme negative bias. I actively dislike "Wonderwall," so I'm girding myself for this album. Immediate thoughts — musically this has energy. But I can't help feeling this is a band that's just trying too hard all the time. Maybe that's mostly true of Liam Gallagher. I had to skip through the end of Wonderwall because of his incessant wankering. How did that become the biggest song on this album? It's the weakest of the first three. 1.5 BILLION spins on Spotify. Confounding. By track #5, I've hit my wonderwall with this sound. I Wanda, if someone did an analysis, does Liam Gallagher hit and hold the same note in every song, because that's what it sounds like to me. The band seems to be running out of ideas... #6... fastest selling album in UK history? The same populace that brought us Brexit. Had to skip past it midway. #7... Oooh, lousy arrangement to add to the cacophony. Not able to save the unimaginative vocal melody. Skip midway. #9... pretty good, I made it about 80% through. #10. Paused. Breathing. Searching for videos of people running fingernails on chalkboards to cleanse my palate. This one has 1.2 million views, so not in the same league as Wonderwall, but respectable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13d5d6LVEpU "Champagne Supernova" is probably the song I liked most — disliked least? — despite the trite lyrics. Gallagher isn't as abrasive on that one. So yeah, didn't like it. Is it a one or a two? Gonna sleep on it.

I always thought this band was overrated and the media frenzy around the Beatles comparison was tiring. Some British musicians really bug me with that exaggerated accent when singing. Sure I think Wonderwall is an OK song and I enjoy it. I do dig Champagne Supernova (mostly because my friend Craig and I liked to sing "where were you when we were getting high"). However, all of these songs strong together don't delight me in any real way. Blah.

Trying to go in with an open mind, here. I was an American teenager when Oasis-mania originally hit in the 90’s - all about that grunge. Didn’t care for Oasis much at the time, they always struck me as nothing more than the sum of their influences, but I only knew the singles. We’ll see how accurate that take is. “Hello” opens things up nicely and has some restrained guitar noise at the end. Good opener. “Roll with it” - Ah, there’s the Beatles aping I was expecting. Pleasant enough, but if I want I Beatles fix, I’ll just listen to the Beatles. Know what I mean? I guess that was always my problem with Oasis. They were a little too on the nose with their Beatles worship - almost gets to the point of parody, in its own way. Anyway, here’s “Wonderwall”. “Don’t Look Back in Anger” - Speaking of on the nose…“I’m gonna start a revolution from my bed” is apparently lifted from cassette recordings of John Lennon taken at the Dakota Hotel. That’s kind of cool, I guess…but after this, I’m going to “Look Back in Anger” and throw on Bowie’s Lodger. “Hey Now!” - a real missed-opportunity not getting Hank Kingsley to guest on this track. So far the tracks on this record, while not necessarily my cup, have been strong. This is the first one that doesn’t do much for me. Nearly 6 minutes is too long for this. “Untitled (1)” - 44 seconds of space-y blues rock. Unnecessary. “Some Might Say” - wherein Oasis tries to give Teenage Fanclub a run for their money. You know what some might say? “This one goes on too long, bruh.” “Cast No Shadow” - yeah, I figured out what it is about this band that doesn’t sit well with me. It’s Liam Gallagher’s vocals: his delivery, moreso than his actual voice. He does this thing a lot (which you can hear at the start of the track). Where the emphasis on words is weird “ HERE’S a THOUGHT for EVERY man WHO….”. It grates, after a while. This song also goes too long. I swear, I like long songs, but so far the long songs on this record aren’t justifying their 5+ minute lengths they just kind of repeat the same thing over and over. “She’s Electric” - this chorus sounds exactly like a Beatles song, but I can’t put my finger on which one. “Morning Glory” - A bit of a Ride vibe on this one with the swirling guitar noise and propulsive beat. My favorite so far, even if the guitar line reminds me of REM’s “The One I Love”. Untitled (2) kind of a rehash of the the first Untitled, but with a more experimental tilt, waves crash into… “Champaign Supernova”, which is a fine track. I like these songs better when the band is going off. As said earlier, they kind of have a Ride-ish shoegaze vibe when the guitars get going and they lock into a groove, but by the end of this record, I’m finding Liam Gallagher to be very off-putting as a singer. I think what made Oasis successful is that they managed to take a lot of pieces from what was going on concurrently in UK music and kind of make into their own with a big nod to the Beatles. I get why they were popular, but they’re a group that I find difficult to separate the band from their influences.

Ehhhhh

Overrated Beatles pastiche.

Fuck this dude's voice

When the best track on the album is Untitled and lasts only 44 seconds...

Listening to the full album, I've come to the realization that I only like Oasis in small doses at a time. Their music can be such an ear sore and only enjoyed listening to "Wonderwall" and "Champagne Supernova."
