WHATEVER TOMORROWWWW BRINGS, I'LL BE THEREEEEE, WITH OPEN ARMS AND OPEN EYES, YEAHHHH. Not sure what else to say, this is a really good new-age-ish rock album. Some solid songs, then "Drive" comes on and it's all over. Cool to hear the album behind the hit! Favorite tracks: Drive, Battlestar Scralatchtica, Make Yourself, The Warmth. Album art: Very cool, very digital, very '90s. Not sure what I'm looking at but I love it. 3.5/5
I looked up it was nu metal but other than that I have no clue here… Privilege is a good enough song I like the guitars quite a bit, the singing on the verses sounds a bit off but it’s still good. I like the start to Nowhere fast and then the crashing guitars that take over I’am not a fan of the verses but the chorus is good. I like consequence the most at the moment but there’s this subtle bit of turntable scratching which is annoying but it makes sense for a nu metal band. I felt consequence flowed well into the warmth ( cause they sound so similar) a good song theres a bit of guitar which was at the end of the intro that doesn’t really get built on instead of on the chorus which I think still needs to explode a bit more to be great. When it comes is good most of the criticism from the warmth applies here but I like the chorus much more. Stellar is a good song it sounds a lot like the other songs but the applications some of the best . Make yourself really sticks out I enjoy this one especially the bridge. Drive is a really good acoustic song but I would’ve placed it earlier on in the album to show this bands range more. Clean has a great intro slowly building itself up only to collapse into the verses this one goes back to that same sound but it’s better just cause of the intro. Battlestar scralatichtica is a rather dull instrumental to be honest it doesn’t really work. I don’t mind I miss you it’s just a slower version of what we had already. I think pardon me and I miss you should be swapped around but it’s a better song than I miss you so it doesn’t matter. Honestly I liked it but the songs kinda formed a mush as they are all too sonically similar especially on the first half, the vocals also feel too autotune but it’s better than pretty much any pop punk group.
On first blush, I thought that this was going to be utterly typical numetal pap. After careful listening, I can confirm that this is utterly typical numetal pap. It isn't actively offensive, but it is dull. Meh.
It's like they combined all the worst bits of grunge, alt rock (for want of a better genre description), industrial and nu metal and made it into an album
I can only assume threats of physical violence against list authors is the explanation for this album's inclusion.
Great mix of heavier rock, light acoustic and even a groovy jam. Loved incorporating the turntables scratching. Favorite songs - Battlestar Scralactchtica, Drive, Pardon Me

When I went into this record I didn't have high hopes. I was expecting another Korn. However, I was pleasantly surprised by what I got. Suffice to say it’s miles better than the afforementioned record. I still don't really get the whole metal/rock-without-solos thing. Why cut out the best bits? Nevertheless the drumming on this album was surprisingly good, which gave the songs a big boost. Nevertheless I agree with other reviewers that this record could do with being about 7 or 8 minutes shorter. Favourite tracks - ,nowhere fast’ for its drumming and ‘battleschratch galactica’ for being a pleasant and jazzy surprise. I don’t really get the hype over tracks like ‘stellar’ and ‘drive’ they seem a little too family-friendly-radio-at-8:15 for me, and I found the solo on the latter track underwhelming. That said, most of the songs here are pretty simple. This, to me, is an example of a very good three star record, but not quite 3.5 stars.

One of my go-to's in high school. Re-listening now, I remember there are a handful of songs I don't like as much, but overall it still holds up for me. "Make Yourself" really hit me pretty hard this time around.
I could maybe appreciate this in a weird ironic/nostalgic way after a few beers? Not that I was into this when it came out - not in the least. But it is very much of its time, and it brings me back in a way that more timeless music of the same era somehow doesn't. The main thing that would get in the way of actually enjoying it on some level are the laughably bad lyrics. Even if I was totally shit faced, I'd still cringe.
Incubus is slightly tolerable butt-rock. Definitely a time and a place thing, and that place was early 2000s in high school for me. It's rock that is "there". I suppose musically it's fine but vocally it's pure butt.

Tsja. Mixed feelings. Volgens mij zit het muzikaal best goed in elkaar, maar door de manier van zingen vind ik het toch meer iets voor tieners :)

Pretty standard stuff for a late 90's alt-rock release. Has some good moments, not much else.

Weird choice. This is a band and album that I'm intimately familiar with, having long since grown out of them. The entry on the list calls this nu-metal's "finest hour," a statement patently absurd in a world where System of a Down and Deftones exist - the latter of whom are conspicuously absent from the list. Maybe don't posture yourselves to be experts on something if you speak from a place of ignorance? Anyway. Incubus are barely nu-metal. They began as more of a watered down Mr. Bungle, sacrificing the majority of its weirdness in favor of accessibility. They quickly began to morph into a 311-ish beach hippie baja hoodie sound. It's hippie music with distortion, but it lacks any real depth. All of its ponderings and naval gazings are just lay-in-the-grass far-outisms. It has a certain amount of charm that mostly comes from its calmer moments that can evoke a sort bittersweet yearning. That capture that emotional vibe very well. But the rest of the album feels utterly unnecessary in the grand scheme of things. Once you've heard Tub Ring's Drake Equation, there's no real need to listen to Incubus - outside of maybe Wish You Were Here, which is the song (not on this album) that distills that yearning vibe that I described above down to its essence and removes all the whiteboy dreadlock frills that fill out the rest of this band. The Warmth plays a similar role on this album, but the cheesy turntables (and boy are the turntables in Incubus cheesy) overall really lower the quality of the song. I'm not 16 anymore. I'm now (painfully) aware of how shallow most of the music I listened to when I was 16 is. The authors of the list should as well. The drummer's pretty good though.

Incubus was a reprieve from the stupid heavy/NuMetal bands of the late 90s and early 00s. They were heavy at times, but they also had a sense of melody. I listened to Fungus Amongus (I think that was the name), S.C.I.E.N.C.E, and this one. After this, the singer got pretty infatuated with himself shirtless. A friend remarked at the time "I'd like to staple a shirt to that guys fucking body." Indeed. But before Incubus were teenage girl and dorm room poster boys, they were a funky and heavy rock band that toured with 311. And this record was a sweet spot. But we're talking about a moment of relatively little musical consequence in the grand scheme of things. So, 2/5 is the best I can muster here. I was happy to find that revisiting this record, I still like "The Warmth" as much as I did in 1999.
I'm glad Incubus is on this list. While I'm not a huge fan of the rock-band-with-a-DJ genre, I always thought Incubus got unfairly shoved in the shadows a bit. Compared to their counterparts (Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, CrazyTown, etc.) - they are, objectively - more talented and just better. They have a better vocalist with a more distinct sound, better musicians, and the lyrics are more thoughtful and poetic than, say "break somebody's face tonight" (Bizkit, L.).
Finalmente escutei o álbum de drive. Excelente sequência de nu-metal com melodia.

Late 90's nu-metallers make clean, crunchy record. Distorted guitars that your mum would find acceptable, scratching, smooth vocals. It's almost Yacht Rawk. Lots of teenagers sitting in their bedrooms feeling hard done by listened to this. Best Tracks: Privilege; When It Comes; Drive
This is actually pretty good. Couple pretty popular songs on there but overall a really good listen. 8/10.
Incubus is the culmination of all the 90s scenes and sounds. These musos sure knew their sound and how to make them all. The attack distortion guitar mellowed by the beefy octaved bass, the flawless mic position on the little splash symbols, the way the nasal and palate driven voice never sounds strained or as loud as it could be. Music by numbers really.
I was apprehensive going into this one...but it was alright
I like the funk that incubus brings in later work and you can see it start to develop on this album. The DJ they added for this is fantastic as well.

No nyt on kyllä melkoista Nickelbackia. Olisikohan tämä jonkinlainen genren pioneeri, koska mitään muuta meriittiä en keksi. Tämäntyyppinen musiikki on tehty muiden yhteyeiden toimesta paljon tyylikkäämminkin. Ei kuitenkaan ihan ykkösen arvoinen.

I am not familiar with the INCUBUS, but aware of the band’s existence. What little I have heard from them does not impress me, but I am familiar with some nu-metal bands so it could be an interesting listening. After listening to MAKE YOURSELF, my first impression is my usual first reaction … I was not impressed and that was to be expected. Musically and vocally, the band sounds typical to me. This type of music, Nu-metal, does not have staying power and is not catchy or different enough for me to enjoy. Usually, I give an album about three more listens to see if musically or vocally something might grow on me. I decided to give the album another listen and concentrate on the lyrics. While the lyrics are not deep, but when the vocals and lyrics are clear and in sync the songs work well and elevate my initial impression of the songs. Feel like I ran into this album at the wrong age. I would have loved this as a teenager. As it is, fun but would probably only revisit a track or two. Definitely reads to me, for whatever reason, that this album influenced a lot of pop punk sound, like Fall Out Boy. But who's to say for sure? Fave track: Battlestar Scratchlatchtica. Whimsical, creative, and fun.
So - an incubus is a spirit that rapes women and I mean, yeah, that's pretty much the vibe I get from this music. This is AGGRESSIVELY 1999 soul patch rock and 100% not something you need to hear before you die. I don't know if I could dislike this more. Wait - the album cover. Okay yeah, I dislike it more now, so there's still room to grow. Oh! "I feel emphatic about not being static." Yes, there's much further to go. Down, straight down. Oh no - Battlestar Scralatchtica. FUCK. YOU.
Incubus are a band beloved by my peers but I've always kept at arm's length. With 'Make Yourself', I can see both why people like them, but also feel fully justified in giving 'em the swerve. Funky, hip-hop influenced, vaguely nu-metal - they certainly have their own niche. I like some of their chewy riffs, and for 1999 - the land that good guitar tones forgot - they get some lovely noises out of their instruments. But for all their slippery rhythms and undoubted skill, they're missing the x factor, the thing that allows them to kick free from terra firma and fly. They play it all a little safe, no? Lack of competence can be forgiven (can be a bonus sometimes); lack of ambition cannot.
It's fine? Don't really know how it ended up on this list.

Not really into incubus, decent album though. Couple of nice songs but also some really meandering ones.
I'd only heard a couple of songs previously, but it turns out that this album is like a direct pipeline to the turn of the millennium. When the combination of rock with turntablism was thrillingly new and Incubus thoughtfully enough delivered it via a lead singer who didn't seem fussed about keeping his shirt on. Make Yourself holds up as a good album, except for that freeform groove number which can get in the sea.
many people used to try to get me in to incubus back in the day. didn't get it back then. not much has changed, but i did discover they have a weird funk hip hop crossover track with one of the worst names i've ever seen - battlestar scralatchica. you can feel how cool they thought they were when they came up with that piss poor very difficult to pronounce play on words. however its the most interesting thing on the album because its just so out of place. my conclusion is that incubus are limp bizkit for girls.
These cunts sound like they need to have a bath with an out of work clown. That'll show them real misery. Maybe then they can write some better songs. Clown for hire. £20 an hour. Call 07904881209. Tell your friends.
This is fine, but not as fine as I remember

I was very much into the wave of early 2000s British rock bands that were clearly influenced by Incubus (Biffy Clyro, Reuben, YOURCODENAMEIS:MILO et al) but I could never really get on board with Incubus themselves. They seem to have taken their cues from Grunge, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nu-Metal, none of which are exactly my favourites. And "to resist is to piss in the wind, anyone that does will end up smelling" has got to be in the conversation for worst lyric of all time.

I've long loved this album! And was infatuated with the brown eyed dream boat that is Brandon Boyd for a minute! Always loved that red tattoo on his arm. Sometime near this album's release I won Incubus concert tickets from the radio. A friend & I drove a couple hrs to the show in my dad's hooptie grand marquis getting high af. They were nose bleed seats but it was fucking awesome. A MAJOR AWARD after all. GOOD TIMES INCUBUS!
Siempre consideré a Incubus como rock alternativo y me sorprendió ver que este disco también los pone como nu metal. No se me hacen tan pesados como para serlo pero sí comparten muchos elementos del sonido de la época. Me gustó bastante, más de lo que esperaba aunque realmente no me atrapó ni me hizo querer conocer más de la banda. Me hubiera gustado que me hubiera gustado más Battlestar Scralatchtica. Por otro lado, Stellar y Drive son grandes canciones y general el disco me gusta mucho como suena. Aunque no es mi banda favorita disfruto su sonido aunque tampoco me dan ganas de conocer más de lo que ya conozco. Songs: Stellar, Drive, Pardon Me
Nunca he sido fan de incubus, y este disco no fue la excepción. El estilo del álbum me recordó un poco a Foo Fighters, pero con un tomo más... ácido, creo. No tengo mucho que decir, simplemente no me atrapó.
Lo recordaba mejor y tenía más altas expectativas, pero ya al oírlo no me gustó tanto. Siento que es un gran gran predecesor de cosas muy buenas que vinieron después pero por sí mismo tiene detalles que no me gustan: el scratcheo metido por todos lados, la onda de quererse ver "oscuros" pero tener algo de Raggae, y el efecto de guitarra que es el mismo en todas las rolas. En fin, creo que es un mejor recuerdo de haberlo oído en Radio ITAM, de lo que es escucharlo ahora.
The bass work is really wild. They have a great sense for song dynamics on Nowhere Fast. The album gets kind of same-y in the middle. Drive gives a breath of free air to this album. Battlestar is way out of place.
Generic nu-metal. A couple of hit singles and surely someone's favourite band as a teenager but not sure what they are doing on this list.
Double platinum. I don't know what the sales number needs to be for that but it's a lot of sales. The album is a Pearl Jam 10th anniversary sound alike project. I don't get what the big deal is.
Many reviewers have complained that all the songs sound the same and I can’t disagree. This is fast becoming one of my pet peeves. I understand that bands have a signature sound but can they not mix it up a bit? They just sound like amped up Chili Peppers.

I love this album and have a huge soft spot for this band and genuinely think they’re underrated among 90s/00s popular hard rock bands. That being said, I can’t justify giving it 5 stars, but it’s a strong 4 from me. I put two songs from this album in a lyric diary project in 12th grade 😂

Diese 90er waren keine Songwriter Wunderkerzen, eher so Technik Feuerwerk. Fettere Verstärker, immense Bandbreite bei Effektgeräten und die Mode der Fusion von Genres und Techniken: Crossover. Dadurch wirkt das Werk verspielt und vielfach experimentell, was an Experimenten hervor zu holen war (Einsatz vom scratchen bei Rockmusik) vor allem wirkt es bis auf wenige Lichtblicke datiert und selten zeitlos schön. Dennoch 2.5
Not a fan of incubus, not for me
Top Picks: Clean & Battlestar Scralatchtica Was a fan of Drive already, so I was excited to hear the rest of the album. Not bad, kinda reminds me of Blood Sugar Sex Magic, but not as many catchy tunes and maybe a bit too nu-metal for my taste.
First Listen. Drive is the only song I knew before listening. It seems like a decent album.

I remember when I was about 8 buying an album by Extreme on the basis of catchy 'More than words' to realise they were actually a big shouty band. Which is also Incubus. Some quieter melodic numbers surrounded by noise.
Oof. This late 90s early aughts pop metal is tough to get through. I don't get why an Incubus album is a must listen to when there's only one recognizable song on it. And I don't like that one song. 2.5/5

Very ordinary 90s style toothless rock/metal. Generally, I like this kind of music but this felt a lot like trying to cash in on a trend and not much originality.
Not bad, almost reminding me of Faith No More at times, but just a bit over-produced for my liking.
First Listen. I know one song "Drive". Need to hear more of this one.

Again not a genre I am very familiar with,but I generally enjoyed this album. It has a nice funky side that drew me in. The rhythm section is strong and pushes the music forward. Songs of note.... The Warmth is a cool song with a warm, subtle beat perhaps my favorite on the album Make Yourself also good Drive is also good and the first that I recognize. This was a hit. Battlestar Scralatchtika..a nice funky instrumental tune. An enjoyable listen with at least 4 songs that were noteworthy 3.5 🌟

Accrochez des posters de vos groupes de rocks favoris aux murs de votre chambre 2. Descendez à la cuisine et dites à vos parents que vous voulez sortir ce soir avec des amis. 3. Un refus devrais s'en suivre, piquez une petite crise de colère en prennant osin de garder votre voix très aigüe. 4. Montez en trombe vers votre chambre, et enfermez-y vous. 5. Vous pouvez desormais lancer cet album de Incubus, bonne écoute.

I started out thinking I wasn’t going to enjoy this, but it really caught my attention. By the end I was really invested in the sound and power brought to the vocals and backing. A dope experience for sure.

One of my personal favorite record ever. This brings me back to the era of my life when music finally made sense and my love affair with music began. For all, those formative years of middle and high school mean so much when it comes to cementing what it means to be "good music" and I'm thankful for records like these to paint the the listing picture of my youth.
Drive makes this a 3.8!

Ah yes that time in history with soul patches, ear lobe plugs, rock bands with DJs, that Justin Delong guy from the Mac vs. PC commercials, pretentiousness of rocking out in 7/8 time, and those generic MTV music videos which are either super deep or were just made up on the spot.

Only slightly less nauseating than I expected.
The vocals, the instruments, and the perfectly balanced sound at this polished point of alt rock island vibes. I don't care what they say, Incubus never sold out.
Hadn't heard of them before which I was surprised about because they seem really popular. Enjoyed it and thought there was some nice variation across the album so I didn't get bored listening.
Nu metal and/or prog band from an era when the dumbest rock groups hit pay dirt. These guys aren’t dumb. But Brandon Boyd is pretty pretentious — more ego than melody. Which is why “Drive” is such a welcome relief from their post-grunge squal

An absolute nothing album. Embarrassing that it’s made this list and calls the selection criteria into question. The album itself is a mess, and a boring, tame, weak mess at that. Crap like this is why kids stopped listening to “metal”
Some funky licks aside, I don't understand the appeal of this album.
Really 3.5 but that isn’t an option. Better than 6/10 but not as good as 8/10. If I consider music in 1999, this is decent rock. Some intergalactic ditties. Some songs are probably only good because they have nostalgic reminders of my high school years.

A combination of metal and punk-rock music with strong and loud vocals. The track «Drive» is better than the whole album (only for this reason +1 star).
Accessible hard rock with record scratching. Nothing too abrasive.
Repetitive prog rock/nu metal has never been my idea of a good time, and combine that genre with this particular era of late 90s schlock rock, and you get Make Yourself. My only memory of Incubus was as the lame edgy band my middle school classmates would attach their personalities to for a few years. The lyrics are a hilarious attempt at nihilism and the production is so wrapped up in all the worst 90s tendencies, it hurts my head. Rating: 1.5/5

Saved Prior: Drive Off Rip: Privilege, Nowhere Fast, Consequence Cutting Edge: The Warmth, Make Yourself, I Miss You Overall Notes: Actually liked this a lot. Nu-metal, or whatever this is, is a LOT more enjoyable than straight metal. I liked the tinges of hip-hop that were mixed throughout. Lost me towards the end where they got a lot more yell-y, but the first half of the album was really good.

Alt rock is a gamble because you can end up getting lame mainstream butt-rock more times than not; This unironically rocks. There are some cheesy production choices that are very late 90's/early 2000's (turntables in a rock album?), but I ended up enjoying the overall product. Good riffs make a good album, who knew? WHATEVER TOMORROW BRINGS, I'LL, BE, THEEERRREEEE

I had this album in college. I never really got into it.
That song Drive was pretty good, but most of this album is awful and I will never want to listen to it again.

More of a 2.5 than a 3. I don't think at any point I was particularly bored or wanting to not listen to this, but there were also almost no parts that stuck out to me. So it's a perfectly average, fine album to me.

Drive and the backhalf really saved this album. Otherwise mostly 2000s nostalgia.
Highlights: Stellar, Make Yourself, Drive, Pardon Me I get the impression that when Beck said "Two turntables and a Microphone" it confirmed Incubus' decision to bring on Chris Kilmore to work the gimmick into their nu metal schtick, and boom, 3 albums later it's one of the best metal albums of all time. Next up: Linkin Park.

The perfect mixture of late 90's alt-rock & nü-metal. I should've paid more attention to this one when it came out, but I'll surely get back more to it now that I've rediscovered it!

Never heard of them before. Almost every song sounds the same. ... And that's genius because I like everything on this album! The singer craftily merges his voice with the music so I have no idea what the songs are about - pure perfection. Even the part where the album is broken and spasms back and forth is melodic and deeply satisfying. Five stars from me, will definitely come back to this.

This sound does nothing for me. Nearly every song follows the same formula - start with the quiet part, then loud guitar chords, back to the quiet part, back to the loud part. The best I can say for this is that it doesn't make me want to stick knives in my ears like some music, say Megadeth. 2 stars.
Definitely emblematic of where rock music was in '99, but maybe not what I'd pick from that era in such a tight list. More specifically, why "Make Yourself" and not "Hybrid Theory"? Similar nu-metal and hip-hop influences, but the latter is probably more indicative of music to come and overall more influential.

I may be a little biased here, but an ex of mine loved incubus and needless to say... I’m not a big fan. That being said listening to the album feels like an incubus album and most of the songs felt very similar.
A fantastic mix of rock(hard rock and even some metal elements), electronic and funk. This I a great album and I enjoy their music alot. From the harder "privilafe" and "Nowhere fast" (kicking off the album) to the softer "consequence" and "drive" this album rocks. I love the 'scratching' mixed in with the rock and the amazing bass lines. The singing also provides a unique feel to all the songs.
This album is kind of a guilty pleasure... I'm sure it doesn't rank amongst the most critically acclaimed, but it gave me comfort through some really rough times. I didn't find it for a couple years after it came out and I was trying to finish out my thesis while limping forward a failing marriage - despite that I can still listen to this album and it feels like a warm blanket.

Tolerable, downright enjoyable at times. Captures the sound of the time. Pardon me and Drive are good songs, the rest are okay
First album I have got off this list that is absolutely horrible. Most of the album is Nu Metal garbage, uncreative. The single (drive?) seems completely out of place with the album up until that point. It's also one I usually change the station on when it comes on the radio. Battlestar scratchtica is the first one I didn't hate, not bad but not great.

I was kinda surprised that this album was on the list, since Incubus doesn't get talked about much anymore and the late 90s/early 00s genre of rock that they belonged to isn't well regarded 20 years on. However, this is a really solid album. Incubus has a really interesting sound, and the lead singer's voice is incredible 4/5
Natürlich kenne ich Incubus, namentlich durch Megalomaniac, aber ich weiß, dass ich noch einiges mehr wieder erkennen würde. Ich hab sie jedoch noch nie gezielt gehört und so kenne ich ihr erstes erfolgreiches Album gar nicht. Dabei klingt jedes Lied sehr vertraut. Würde mich nicht wundern, wenn man der Band vorwirft, nicht genug Abwechslung in ihre Songs zu bringen. Das Album erinnert mich sehr an Hoobastank, aber es liegen mir noch andere auf der Zunge. Obwohl ich ein Fan von Hoobastank bin, haut mich „Make Yourself“ nicht um. Vielleicht liegen mir deren Alben nur aus Nostalgie am Herzen. Es ist jedoch eine einfache Entscheidung mich in Zukunft näher mit Incubus auseinander zu setzen. „Drive“ kannte ich doch!
Honestly it’s not nearly as bad as I thought it might be. Still not sure why it’s on here though. Kinda feels like a Soundgarden, sounds like it might even have influenced bands like Linkin Park(?). Pretty groovy bass and drums. Part of me just hears it and feels a little cringey though (Make Yourself has some CRINGE). Am I gonna come back to this ever? Probably not. Pretty mild, middle of the road.

This didn't age well. Its hard to put my finger on why I can't get into this - maybe its too earnest from a time when fake earnesty was the style? Maybe its that the cover looks so 90s snowboard culture. Maybe its that they just sound like they're trying to hard to be offbeat.

Not really my cup of tea, but some interesting moments.
I can think of a lot of albums more deserving of being on this list than Make Yourself. It's not that it's bad, necessarily. It's just not good. This album was tops for the whole nu-metal scene which I'm just not a fan of. Be metal. Don't be metal. Either is fine. This shake-and-fake, half-assed, sing-song nonsense is honestly kind of annoying to me. Every song sounds the same, the vocals are whiney and emo punctuated by repeated "daddy won't hug me" refrains. Not my jam.
Really brings me back, great album
I've owned this album forever and only listened to bits and pieces of it. I came in with a mild bias, thanks to the jerks at Clear Channel, who only played singles from this record. It was nice to hear the likes of "Stellar", "Drive", and "Pardon Me" on my terms, but I can't say I really missed them. Weird sentence, but I can definitely get a heavier Chili Peppers vibe from this record. Lots of funk influences, mixed with some metal, and some "rapping", though I'll say Brandon Boyd has a better singing voice than Anthony Keidis (maybe). Favorite tracks: "Privilege", "Nowhere Fast", "Battlestar Scratchlactica"
I've heard this many times before, and it doesn't really get old. In fact, I get to notice little details. That being said, I was a little surprised this was on the list! Not that it's undeserving necessarily. Early Incubus is still great.
On first listen, this was a 2. But I gave it another spin, and realized that it had some quality tunes, just not in a genre that I usually love. The title track was especially good to these ears.
The Warmth is an early high point, and I was surprised how tolerable I found individual songs after my visceral reaction to RHCP. The inclusion of hip-hop scratches comes across as tacky as anything. Stylistically, this just isn't for me: I want something consciously noisier, or at least with the space post-punk tends to have.
Honestly had no strong feelings about this. Three track run from “Drive” to “Battlestar” rocks tho.
