Born To Run

Ha estado bien, se me ha hecho un poco bola escucharlo pero bueno. No me ha parecido demasiado original pero igual es porque estoy acostumbrado a este tipo de música.

Couple iconic tracks, Springsteen has never really been my thing. Something about his production / style just annoys me.

I like the song Born To Run (partially just because it's the only one I kinda knew already), but I'm honestly not a huge fan of Springsteen's voice for some reason. I also like Meeting Across the River.

Never been a big follower of the boss, and I’m shocked never to have listened to this album end to end. He’s got a lot to say and does it well. Extremely good album across all tracks. Gonna buy this one on vinyl.

So many of the elements of music I live seemed to have been born here. It’s bombastic and enormous and energetic and feels important and meaningful.

What can you say about this album with its amazing storytelling combined with the Spectorish wall of sound. Rock and Roll at its height with a piano base. Tenth Avenue Freeze Out and Born to Run are favorites.

If The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle was an accidental miracle, Born to Run was an intentional masterpiece. It declared its own greatness with songs and a sound that lived up to Springsteen's promise, and though some thought it took itself too seriously, many found that exalting.

🖤 Favourite Song: Thunder Road 🖤

Born To Run remains my favourite Springsteen record, and I always thought that was because it was my first. But listening again after all these years, I can safely report that every moment of this record is perfect. Springsteen's wails about breakin' out of the places that have always trapped him works as the perfect allegory for a suppressed working class that slowly realized that the American Dream was not meant for everyone. The sax work my Clarence, the drumming of Mad Dog/Weinberg, the keys provided Roy J. Bittan are absolute magic here. Heartbreaking to listen to, but still exhilarating after all these years. Fav Tracks: Thunder Road, Backstreets, Jungleland, Born To Run, et. al.

“The screen door slams/Mary’s dress waves” This will always be a magic album for me. The way everything builds to the climax of Born to Run and then the denouement that follows is perfectly sequenced and a testament to Springsteen’s talent as a storyteller. It’s hard to pick a favourite, but this time around, “Backstreets” was the one that grabbed me the most.

Sometimes an artist is so fully flooded with inspiration that everything they touch turns to gold. Bob had it with Blonde on Blonde, Van with Astral Weeks, the Boss has it here.

Where to begin..... I'm not insightful or smart enough to explain the deeper meanings of the album and why it resonates. My best attempt is to say that it manages to convey most, if not all, of the elements that get buzz my mind: the difficult marriage between hope & despair, the desire to belong to something and finding beauty in the ordinary. Favourite track: Jungleland

Quite simply one of the greatest albums of all-time with some of Springsteen's most evocative lyrics. Best track: Thunder Road

I definitely get why it’s popular, but it honestly just doesn’t I much for me.

Bruce Springsteen is the main guy here but the E Street Band really add so much to the overall compositions. They keep things from getting too boring, too formulaic, and elevate Springsteen with sweeping instrumentals that allow for a fuller sound with more personality. Springsteen brings his own, and the E Street Band give it more ground to stand on. Helluva band. Anyway, Springsteen basically IS heartland rock, and he's very much in this sound. Undeniably solid album.

I really like this album. It can be tough to review since the songs are so well known and played so much. Some haven't aged as well as others, but Thunder Road and Jungleland will always be rock anthems.

I definitely preferred this to Darkness On the Edge of Town and see why it’s considered the best album by Bruce Springsteen. So many of these songs are classics and it seemed like Bruce Springsteen at his best. Although Bruce Springsteen is still not my absolute favorite it was still a great album. Favorite songs: Night, Backstreets, Born to Run, Jungleland Last favorite song: Thunder Road Light 8/10

The Boss is my godfather's favorite artist so I tried to listen in high school and didnt really enjoy it much. Now on this re-listen with more mature ears, I really enjoy the sound. Thunder Road and Born to Run are obvious stars but 10th Ave Freeze Out was probably my favorite.

Just a brilliant album from start to finish. Classic rock and roll don't get much better than this.

Surprisingly I've inky very listened to one Springsteen album in its entirety before this! Liked this a lot.

This was fun! The lyrics were way less repetitive and the rhythm was more solid throughout.

Sounds epic, definitely needs a closer listen than I can give to it.

- Thunder Road - greatest song of all time by a considerable distance - Tenth Avenue Freeze Out - an absolute bop - Night - one of the more forgettable tracks but would be the standout on most other records on this list - Backstreets - Up there with Thunder Road and Born To Run. 3rd best track on the album. Always been pretty indifferent about Springsteen. Never hated his music nor really got into his stuff either. I'd heard the hits from this album, but the stand out tracks for me were "Meeting Across the River" and "Jungleland." I feel like The Boss and the E-Street band aren't really exploring any new musical ideas composition wise, other than some bomb-ass sax. Its Springsteen's writing and storytelling that has made him such an American staple, and I felt those two tracks really let his writing shine. Being aligned so strongly with 'MURICA is kind of what kept me from getting into him, but his songs are very much proletariat anthems. I guess that's what you get for saying USA a bunch of times in a song. Overall a pretty enjoyable listen, but there's nothing calling me back.

Ach nee, das alles klingt breiig

Fände schön, wenn mich das musikalisch mehr berühren würde (wegen allgemeiner Sympathie, Ethos, etc.) - tut es aber nicht. Mir ist das zu viel gepresstes Pathos, zu pastös aufgetragen und ständig kommt mir der Gedanke dass ich Billy Joel ja doch besser finde. 2,5 Punkte musikalisch, und leider auch nicht kaufmännisch gerundet.

I mean.. I get it? I liked each song, but as an entire project it was very exhausting to listen to. Was about to be a 2, but Meeting Across the River alone bumped it up a notch for me.

The music is fine, but sweet Jesus he has an annoying voice. It’s like Bob Dylan went through a food processor.

The piano and sax throughout were a dang treat. Feels like old americana, joyful, sad, honest. He’s the boss for a reason!

Piano sound on "Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out" gives it great energy. Very nice overall flow of the album. Always has the Bruce's way of saying words that are clear and somehow mush at the same time. Backstreets closes out side one perfectly.

More expansive and cinematic than I was expecting, and I'm pretty familiar with the singles off this album. The saxophone is arguably the lead instrument here, and there are some jazzy moments where it and the keyboardist can really shine. Bruce's lyrics are excellent and invoke a "working class" urgency: inspirational-via-the-gallows, a bleak sort of joy.

I get why people like it, but not my jam

Such a pump up album, gets you in the mood to go out and have a beer.

Not as consistently good as The Rising, although it has perhaps my favorite Springsteen song, Born to Run.

Eat song is its own mini story but yet part of a while experience. The writing is superb and the guitar work is excellent. I never got into Springsteen but I can see that wasn't a good thing. This albums is really good. Although over it is short run time, it delivers all it needs to say in the short time. I found that the start was a little softer than the rest of the album but once it gets going it is something that you can just visualize. The story in the lyrics is clear and concise and able to give you an experience that you were almost there.

No nyt on sellaista Brucea jota odotin jo aiemmalla levyllä. Isoa Amerikan meininkiä, joka välillä potkii paremmin ja välillä huonommin. Vaikken ihan genren tai Brucen äänen suurin ystävä olekaan, niin onhan tässä jotain hyvin viihdyttävää. Heti levyn avaava Thunder Road varastaa mielenkiinnon tarttuvalla pianomelodialla. Lopulta kaksi levyn helmeä olikin ensimmäinen ja viimeinen kappale. Moni biisi jäi vähän tasapaksuksi. Tosin tarkkaavaisemmalla kuuntelulla näistäkin voisi saada hieman enemmän irti. Kolmosen ja nelosen välimaastossa keikutaan, mutta tällä kertaa alaspäin pyöristyen.

Kannte ich bis auf den Titelsong nicht - und habe dabei auch nicht wirklich was verpasst. Recht langweilig und gewöhnlich, teilweise nachgerade öde. Der Titelsong ist im übrigen auch noch schlecht gealtert. Brauchte diese Liste wirklich eine 2. Springsteen-Platte? 2

Bästa: Thunder road, Born to run, Night, Backstreets & Jungleland <- speciellt partierna i mitten och mot slutet med saxofonsolot och den lugna pianosektionen i slutet! /lillebror

Compared to the last Bruce Springsteen album I listened to, this one was much less notable. I like the title track, but other than that the songs just sort of faded into the background. Also, boy that last song drags on for a while 3/5

Pretty Sick album. Whatever I can tell that a lot of artists took inspiration from Springtein. He's got a very interesting storytelling style and the buildup and release his lyrics have going into the hook is cathartic. Good Album

Har aldrig lyssnat på hela albumet men gillade det ändå. inget klockrent men väl en trea. Han skriker lite för mycket ibland för att det ska rimma med musiken i övrigt, t.ex i Backstreets.

I don't buy Bruce as a significant figure in American mythology. It's all so manufactured and engineered to appear authentic. He thinks he's Dylan, but he's not, and I suppose I should applaud the effort, but it's just so damn hard to look past the affected growl and the unbearable saxophones - not to mention the faux-intellectual lyrics. I didn't hate this as much as I thought I would, but I didn't like it, either. He was dad rock when we were kids, so I'm pretty sure that makes him grandpa rock now. Best track: Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out

Gotta hand it to the boss for being cool. This is a fun album but it does seem a bit long even at 40min, just cause every song is almost identical. It's a good song though. 3/5.
