Liked the album but not the artist
27/05/22 2/5 didn't really listen to the lyrics so didn't get much into it, but the piano and rock style suited well together.
2.75
Best Song: Born to Run. A classic, surely, but I wonder if the instrumentals are doing more of the work here than Springsteen. Worst Song: Night. I guess never realized that this is how Springsteen's voice sounds. Like he's shouting through a mouthful of peanut butter. Overall: Kinda tough to tell why this album is considered a bit deal.
ugh
04/06/2022 I gave it a shot, but I still don't get the acclaim. He sounds... bad.
Meh, nothing special for me.
Didn’t love it, didn’t hate it
No volvería a escucharlo.
did not like listening to this at all
He has a few good songs that evoke some real nostalgia, but overall it isn't for me.
It's alright, but extremely overrated.
I like the music but am having a strong aversion to Bruce Springsteen's voice. He sounds like an old man who used to be a good singer but no longer has the range he used to...and this is during his prime! I've never really listened to "the boss" outside of the ones you hear on the radio over and over and I was shocked how unimpressed I was by his singing
I'm sorry but Bruce just sounds like someone's dad singing karaoke, and trying really hard, in front of a pretty good band
I know this resonates for a lot of people, but doesn't for me. I understand that it is meaningful and moving etc, but it leaves me a little cold. I think it is, for me, a bit overworked. Too successful in its emulation of Phil Spector, but it can hear how hard they worked at it (and they did work hard),. I need a bit more. I listened through, but, honestly, it washes over me every time and I am unmoved.
Very weak album of this legend
I wasn't expecting innovation, but didn't think it would be this uninteresting. Fortunately, doing the hoovering provided a welcome distraction from the repetitive task of listening to this album. 2/5.
Not my favorite.
Maybe I'm a heretic but eh. Just not my jam
Bombast. At least I know know why I didn't like The Boss back in the day...
I'm not supposed to be bored by Springsteen. I am. I'm supposed to like this guy. I don't. Generic rock that I can't remember two minutes after it's over. The title track, "Born to Run", sounds like theme song to an 80s TV show reboot of "Grease". Truly terrible stuff. Whenever I'm constipated, I do my best Springsteen imitation, and it clears my bowels right away.
Cack
Nah
White dad music. Good noise to have on if you were working on your car in the garage. Sounds like modern Killers. Not for me…
Big instrumentals which can be annoying at times. His vocals are questionable at times as well. I could not get into the album at all.
38. Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen 8 tracks. I was quite looking forward to this but it was a real let-down. Doesn't compare favourably at all to Born in the USA. Bang average is how I would describe it. 2/5
I'll be honest. I think all Bruce Springsteen songs sound exactly the same. This album was no different for me.
okay? i don’t rly like bruce springsteen but the radio hits were okay
As much as I would like to love this album, I can't. Other than the title track and Tenth Avenue Freeze Out, the rest of the album pretty much sounds like the same boring song broken into different tracks.
I liked it okay
Pure boomer tunes, wasn't a fan
Oh they're rated!
4
bruce
The music is fine, but sweet Jesus he has an annoying voice. It’s like Bob Dylan went through a food processor.

Springsteen-Platte? 2
Not a big Bruce fan
I can't get into Springsteen album. Liked a couple of songs 2/5.
Snore
I don't buy Bruce as a significant figure in American mythology. It's all so manufactured and engineered to appear authentic. He thinks he's Dylan, but he's not, and I suppose I should applaud the effort, but it's just so damn hard to look past the affected growl and the unbearable saxophones - not to mention the faux-intellectual lyrics. I didn't hate this as much as I thought I would, but I didn't like it, either. He was dad rock when we were kids, so I'm pretty sure that makes him grandpa rock now. Best track: Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out
no thanks x
A badly polished turd of a record
God damn this sucks. I hate his voice. I hate his story telling. I hate his smug working-class image. There was a very BRIEF moment of soul/R&B influence on Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out where I almost felt like this wouldn't completely blow, but then he started "singing" and I lost all hope.
I hate Springsteen. His voice isn’t even that annoying on this one, but the music is as bland as always.
I’m famously not a Springsteen fan, this changed absolutely nothing.
Never listened to a full song by him. Kinda intrigued so far. Actually not interested it’s like someone trying to make a rock song from America. Not my vibe
More like born to suck. Im so fucking funny
The jingle jangle of Christmas bells, the fabricated blue collar fables to ensnare the minds of the dimwitted, and of course the downright horrendous vocals. Yep, it's another day with working class BILLIONAIRE big Brucie Easy street or whatever the fuck he wants to be called. You know, the guy who was depressed for a few weeks in the 90's, and taught your friends' dads who spent too many years huffing fumes down at the racetrack that it's ok to "feel" if you're "ThE BoSs." Now, I obviously hate this guy. He's a performative hypocrite in a cosplay leather jacket stitched with stolen valour. I don't pretend I grew up in the slums, and neither should he. It's pathetic. I don't even care if he was poor at one point, the wealth that this asshole has amassed should've seen him releasing consecutive albums called "I'm sorry" in perpetuity. With how much I hate his general aesthetic, it's the music that sometimes gets overlooked. The lyrics and overall 50's nostalgia diner veneer are vomit-inducing, but this music truly completes the "I remember rock n' roll" day at the nursing home pastiche. The vocals veer towards parody, the chimes and bells, are unbearably obnoxious, and this time around, Bruce threw in a bevvy of late night talk show saxophones to accompany his warbly pandering. How can you not see through this? I suppose that the target audience of shit like this gets absolutely fleeced by telemarketing scams every day too, so I guess it makes sense. If you like this, you're dumb. I don't usually believe that about art of any kind, and believe nuance can be found in almost anything, but truly, there is nothing of any redeeming value here. Give your head a shake, or stop shaking your head, as the damage seems to be affecting you. Your Mom and I are worried. Kill all billionaires. 0 HIGHLIGHTS: ah man, look at the leathers, man I bet he just got off at the factory and he's goin' down to the soda shop, man he's such a nomad, and maybe he'll fuck my wife there and maybe I can watch and maybe he'll sing born to run and maybe he'll ride a motorcycle, and then I will reach an earth shattering climax.
Bruce is a garbage liberal who hates america...gfys
Never understood the acclaim this man gets. His voice always sounds to me as if he is in pain and is certainly painful for me to listen to. “Born to Run” itself is the one track I’d say was OK but probably only because I’ve heard it so many times and been anaesthetized to it. It’s still not one I would ever choose to hear. The one positive aspect of this album was that it was mercifully short – traditional LP length. It if hadn’t been for the over-long and tedious final track it could have been even shorter. Won’t ever need to hear it again anyway thank you.
Not a Springsteen fan. Blegh.
One good song. Seven more that sound similar, but aren't.
According to the second most popular review, I must be a communist.
He actually sounds so bad
Mwa blijft bruce
definitely not my type of music... at least bruce has a nice voice
Not my favourite artist. I knew the name but I don't like the music, it feels a bit outdated to me and not really my style
Vietnam dog flashback meme to 'Nebraska' with that opening harmonica. Having now survived all five of the Boss's albums on this list, I can say his music - or perhaps more appropriately - his strained, raspy growl accompanied by blaring sax and harmonica just isn't for me. I know he doesn't ALWAYS growl, and I know he doesn't ALWAYS have the sax and harmonica (e.g. 'Streets of Philadelphia', 'I'm on Fire', 'Tunnel of Love', etc.); he just too often does. Still, I do like the guy. He's the posterchild for love the artist, hate the art. The anti-Morrissey, if you will. But I've got to keep my rating on this album, and I didn't enjoy any of it other than the title track (which honestly could have been more due to familiarity than anything).
I don’t like this album it feels very repetitive and every song has the same type of feeling
Man for men. Listen one - you’ve listen to them all. Driving your smelly stuffy truck through the dessert
Didn’t fw it, sounded like a song in every bad movie
Trash

uuuuuggh idk i dont like his voice... its all just boring... better than born in the usa tho...
Bland. I already got a Springsteen album before - Born In The USA - and that was boring too. This was a bit better but his voice still annoyed me. And the tone of the guitars was a bit flat so the instrumentation just doesn't jump out at me. Only track I thought wasn't bad was "Meeting Across The River"; the sax and Bruce's more sombre delivery was nice. But then I got hit with the 9 minute track "Jungeland". The sax was amazing in it but then he started singing and it all fell apart again. tl;dr - more sax pls 1/5
I just don’t really get it with Bruce Springsteen but go off I guess
Music to get jumped in Newark to.
Absolutely not. Classic rock with Saxophone.... nah 0/10
White noise
basurita de un fisura con plata
Boring and obnoxiously american
"Tenth Avenue Freeze Out" was nice. I liked the variety of instruments.... overall not my thing though
Now this is an album I don’t understand the praise for. Overwrought, overplayed, just irredeemable
Big ass. Terrible voice. Music the same as everyone else at time. Garbage. 0/10 0.00%
Anytime I've heard a Springsteen song covered by someone else I've loved it but I hate his voice so goddamn much I can't bear it and I had to skip through this album ugh sorry
I just don't like his vocals
Felt nothing while listening. It was just boring and somehow sounded nothing like what I thought Bruce did sound like. I'm unsure if this was before or after some of his more popular songs
Did not listen
at least it was over quickly
Not my cup of tea
Classic artist but just not a fan….i feel like his voice is not really that good and the band kinda just carries😭
Honestly no hype in this guy
Not for me
I’m writing this review before his final song even finishes. As a first time listener, Mr Springsteen has disappointed me immensely. This album was Born To Run to the bottom of the barrel.
39 minutes of my life I won't get back. The sax solo on Jungleland in the highlight it doesn't compensate for the grating voval throughout.
Another Springsteen album which sounds like all the rest (expect nebraska, which was good). Not for me.
If it was possible to rate 0 stars, trust me, I would have.
Oude mannen muziek, i dont like…. staat vast in de top2000 oke actually t kon erger, ik dacht gekke country
I didn't like any song of this album, the only positive thing is that is short.
bleugh
Ten out of 10 for enthusiasm and self-belief, and I can appreciate there is a certain poetry in the lyrics, but this music really does nothing for me at all. To me it comes off like a lame musical full of clichéd Americana, describing scenes and reference points I just don't really connect with. Cheesy, over-the-top middle-of-the road soft rock - I don't really see what all the fuss is about, but it is, at least, a better listen than the other Springsteen album I have encountered thus far on this list (Born In The USA).
Hey, at least I left this album with a deeper appreciation for "Jackson Park Express"
I did not expect to have such a negative reaction to this album. I didn't really have much of an opinion on Springsteen before but wow, I didn't like this at all! There's something about the way the music is mixed, his vocal style, and the percussion tempo that makes every song feel like a cheesey rock n roll musical number. It's like pop folk on cocaine driven by the most insufferable boomer you can imagine. The cover however is great, well composed and charming, that's a 4/5.
Didn’t like it at all :(
A mystery only Americans can understand. Dull music, weird muffled sound, crap vocals, overblown lyrics.
I don’t like it and I have no interest for that album that was really annoying for me to listen to it
Wolves and trucks again :) Springsteen comes across as a good guy, a sort of blue-collar poster boy, but his music just doesn’t do it for me. The rock routines feel flat, the sax solos don’t move me, and the forced enthusiasm gets tiring. It’s polished rock made for live-shows, pretty boring.
Gapigt och generiskt
Vėlgi, bruce ne man.
I can't listen to this. Too much noise hammering away at the same time. It's like everyone in the band is screaming "listen to me" while trying to play louder and more frenetically than the guy next to him.
Couldn't get into this one and found it uninspiring musically. Never understood the hype to be honest and still feel the same. Maybe you understand it more if you are American or something?
Seems a bit unamerican but injustice cant get into Bruce Springsteen for some reason.
Infumable
“Tenth Avenue Freeze-out” just wasn’t very good. It’s like weird and folky and big band? Idk how else to explain it. It’s not very punchy. “Backstreets” was repetitive and equally unenjoyable. I find something about it so obnoxious. “Born to Run” equally annoying :(. Not enough bass in the mix.
This album is brutal. I hope his others are better because if this is the best of the Boss, he may be the most overrated artist.
Cringe as hell
Springsteen just sucks ass, man. All of it. He's terrible.
I just hate his voice so much
The only thing I say to help me express why I don't like this album is that its just too.... New Jersey?
aburridisimo
I tried to give this a genuine chance, I've heard many of the songs off this album before since it's undeniably a classic in the sense of how successful and influental it is, but I've long hated Bruce Springsteen and the second his weird, warbly voice kicked in, I instantly had to shut it off. That husky vibrato he does is like nails on a chalkboard to me.
not a fan of Bruce Springsteen, songs are too similar to each other, there are like two songs that sound slightly better
I am not a Springsteen fan. This was crap.
Bruce sucks, lets admit it and move on with our lives.
I am not a fan at all. Can't make it through the album.
not for me
Man, I did not like this album. Even the saxophone got old once I realized it was in almost every song. It was his voice more than anything that bothered me. Call me a hater, call me a liar, disagree with me because I know that Bruce Springsteen is a beloved figure, but I really did not like this album, musically.
Not a fan. Too chaotic
Not a fan
Makes me wish I didn’t have ears
Not for me. 1/5
Awful voice. Shit album
Fuck Bruce Springsteen and crotch sliding talentless songwriting. Fucking hack couldn't even get a number one without GOAT Manfredd Mann coming in and carrying his ass.
Running away from this nonsense
Oh no i shit on my shoe, better run.
Thanks, but no thanks, not for me.
If there was ever any question, Bruce Springsteen proves that apparently being able to sing is not a requirement for releasing an album. The musicality of some of his tracks is interrupted by his lackadaisical and groaning vocals, and the only respite at times is a cheesy sax solo.
nah sorry
Unremarkable
I don’t care about this. I don’t like this at all
I've always been stunned that anyone could listen to this paragon of boring, run-of-the-mill rock. Everything is by rote, and nothing that hadn't been done a million times before is attempted.
1. thunder - 1 2. freeze - 1 3. night - 0 4. ztreetz - 1 5. run - 1.5 6. one - 1 7. river - 1 8. jungle - 1
After my 3rd Bruce Springsteen album I've come to the conclusion that The Boss's music is pretty lame.
I can appreciate a few songs, but it's not for me. I'm just not a fan, and I'm having a hard time nailing down exactly why. There are other artists in the same genre that I like. But, alas, not this album.
🤮
Album starts with harmonica - straight to gaol. I just don't get the love for Bruce Springsteen at all, maybe its a generational and location thing? I don't find his music engaging - very bland rock to my ears Death to harmonicas
Rather listen to meatloaf
Bad
Not for me.
Not my type of music. Couldn’t finish it
Me rehúso a edcuchar más bruce springsteen. 0/10
this album and the one prior to it were headache inducing
every time i see brace for springsteen and bored dylan i kinda wanna automatically skip it, i dont get the appeal at all. clearly he is super acomplished and all, but how, its just lame singersmongwriter ahhhh NNN
No thanks.
My 4th Springsteen album on this list. How many are there going to be? Still not a fan
Not for me. I can not for the life of me understand how this guy is so loved.
sorry boss, I can’t get into it.
I think with Springsteen you have to have been there when this came out or something, because I do not get the appeal of Springsteen's song writing. The way he cobbles together lyrics makes it feel like a jumbled mess to me, and his vocals make him sound confused 90% of the time. I found myself not at all invested in his stories but instead asking myself if ol Bruce even knows what he is rambling about. Did he just get lost in an ally one day and then he came up with this album? That could be, because I'm not getting any serious emotional weight behind these lyrics. This album's sound, musically, is as if Springsteen said "ok everyone just solo however you want and I'll mumble these lyrics over it". And they all said "great idea". I can't imagine the nightmare of mixing this in the studio also. It's a mess.
1 star for writing/composition. sounds like mud bro
Boring . This was one of the worst
I guess I get it, I just didn't like it
Dislike Bruce
Sucks
I'm adamant no one truly enjoys Bruce Springsteen. They just think people like him so they follow along. It's like that Darren Brown episode where he coerces someone into committing murder via peer pressure alone. The same is true for Eric Clapton. Once people start to realise this basic truth the world will be a much better place.
I cannot stand his vocal style and every song sounds the same
I tried to have an open mind, but I've never been a Springsteen fan
Uninteressanter Pop Rock.
I had never listened to Bruce Springsteen before now, and after hearing this album, I'm glad I didn't. I read on Wikipedia that because of Bruce's perfectionism, this album took a year and a half to finish, but then I hit play and hear right off the bat the guitars are out of tune. So what kind of perfectionism is that? I guess all he did was add as many instruments as he could think of for 18 months, because the tonal instruments were nothing more than a soup of noise, through which not even the drummer's valiant efforts to provide a little structure could be heard. I thought maybe Bruce could salvage the effort with some brilliant songwriting or a compelling vocal performance, but instead he spent each song debasing what I'm sure was otherwise a perfectly nice microphone. Overall, this album is just very noisy and unfocused. Not enjoyable.
I’ve always been vaguely sure I don’t like Springsteen now I know for sure. It all sounds the same and it’s not great. A lot of it is quite bad. Why does the melody in jungleland sound directly ripped from tiny dancer? Why is the title track held in such high regard? And why is one of the e street band members a main character in The Sopranos?
Bruce Springsteen is right up there with the most overrated American artists of all time. I would never choose to listen to his music and do anything I can to avoid it.
nix für mich
I can't even deal with his voice anymore
Struggled to get through it, absolutely vile, jealous of the deaf.
Elk nummer klinkt een beetje hetzelfde
Eh.
Nope
Meeting Across the River has a good sound. The rest... really didn't gel with me. I don't feel like his voice is adding anything to the fairly solid backing band. The lyrics just don't really connect with me. And the songs often don't really feel like they build or have much in the way of dynamics.
I tried to give it a fair shake. Half the songs are about roads. Never uses the tele on the cover.
I dont like country music
Ughhhhh. At least Born to Run is good. This big sound Americana crap is so awful
Stop it with the Bruce now
I hate it (sorry chris)
Meh. Never understood the appeal of Springsteen.
Unless you’re a Springsteen fan the majority of this album fades into obscurity with only 2 stand out songs out of 9. Obviously the title track and thunder road are classic Springsteen but the rest are rather disappointing
What a mess. Not in a hot crazy girl kind of way, I wouldn't even want 15 minutes in the pub loos with this album. I continue to be dumfounded by his success.
Boring and overrated
Yeah, this is my second album from "The Boss" on this list. What a fucking joke. This is so god awful unlistenable and horrible. There is nothing to this other than just an overly rushed ramble through some shitty song. Get this guy out of here. I'm sure there are even more of his albums on this list, so I have that disappointment to look forward to.
The musical equivalent of a root canal, complete with a voice that sounds like a dentists drill. 🦷
Respect to the man but not a bit of me
It always amazes me that the same person who wrote "Because The Night" and the "Nebraska" album can create so much utter dross.
didnt really have any songs i like, but the guitars q solid
Not sure which I like less, the banging piano notes or the shrill sax.
hate springstein
Why. Why he's always shouting for absolutely nothing? This combined to annoying saxophone and lifeless piano. I'm sorry, I know he's a legend but I'll never be able to enjoy his music.
Dull
It’s a skip for me
Not a fan of the mumbling style but Born was a great hit. The rest all seem to similar to each other
Springsteen is basically the antithesis to what I want out of music. "Heartland rock" sums up the sound perfectly and why I'm not a fan. I can't stand the heartland of this country.
Quem roubou o nome da Camila??
:(
Ach nee, das alles klingt breiig
Extremely boring
Not my came
Never been a big fan of the boss. I appreciate his talent but his music is not for me
No
Aldrig mer
meh
Couple iconic tracks, Springsteen has never really been my thing. Something about his production / style just annoys me.
Its OK Not Bad Solidly Average for me
awesome
